Include one script in another

Apologies if this is a stupid question , but I'm looking at having a library of javascript functions which will be available to other scripts. However I can't find an obvious way of including one javascript file in another.
Has anyone else tried this?

Hi there,
another way to execute an external script is the Application.doScript method.
Application.doScript(script:any, language: ScriptLanguage , withArguments:Array of any):any
Executes the script in the specified language.
script: Data Type: any
The script to execute. Can accept: File or String.
language: Data Type: ScriptLanguage , Default Value: UNKNOWN
The language of the script to execute. If not specified, uses the language used to call this method. (Optional)
withArguments: Data Type: Array of any
An array of arguments to pass to the script. (Optional)
Best wishes
Andy

  • Calling one script from another

    InDesign has a nice mechanism for calling one script from another, so code can be made modular. What about FrameMaker ExtendScript? What methods are people using to call one script from another? Thanks for any suggestions.
    Rick Quatro

    Hi Trevor,
    Note that ExtendScript is Javascript plus FM objects and methods, so you need to stick to Javascript syntax rules. The right way to include another script source is as follows:
    #include "scriptname.jsx";
    If this works when running the main script from the ESTK, you know it finds the included script. When you then Export the script to Binary (from the File menu of the ESTK), the binary will include the embedded script as well. After this you have a jsxbin file, which you can drop into one of the two available startup folders to make it fire automatically when FM starts. Or you can move it anywhere else and run it via the File > Script > Run command. The main idea here is that when compiling a script into binary format, all include references are resolved and the script contains the complete code. If you run the jsx, the script is interpreted and requires a correct relative reference to any included script.
    I hope this clarifies things a little

  • How to include one view into another view

    Hi SDN's,
                   Could any please tell me,How to include one view into another view.
    In my requirment.I want to create a 'Z' view for an interface .In that  view i have to take,
    1) Ship-to-email adrr by
                              LIKP-KUNNR -> KNA1-ADRNR
                              KNA1-ADRNR -> ADR6-ADDRESNUMBER.
    2) E-mail addr of person who created the document.i.e
        LIKP-ERNAM -> USR21-BNAME.
        USR21-ADDRESNUMBER ->  ADR6-ADDRESNUMBER
        USR21-PERSNUMBER -> ADR6-PERSNUMBER.
       In both the case we have to pass ADDRESSNUMBER to ADR6 table.
    If we pass these condition it fails,B'Coz at a time it passes Two ADDRESSNUMBER and a PERSNUMBER.
    So i created two which fetches only the email addr of  person who created the document.and another view fetches Ship-to-email addr.
    Now i want to include the second view into first view . Is it possible?or please
    tell me someother way to get these email addresses in a single view.

    hi
    as per my knowledge, nested views are not possible. However, while creating a new view, selection method will not giv u option to select the already created view(S) except the tables..i think so.

  • How to pass the result of one script to another?

    Hi
    Is there any possibility to pass info from one script to another? I run some scripts at night and they have to use the results I get during the day...
    Thank you in advance for any help
    Vera

    There's a couple of ways of doing this.
    It sounds like the second script isn't being called directly from the first one, so you can't pass the data directly, so that leaves you with a couple of options.
    One is to have the first script write the data to a file, then have the second script read that file.
    The other would be to store the data as a property in the first script - properties are saved between executions - then have the second script read the first script's property when it starts up.
    For the first option, just have the script write the data to a file:
    set myData to "here's the data to save"
    set myFile to (open for access file (path to home folder as text & "data.file") with write permission
    write myData to myFile starting at 0
    close access myFile
    Now the second script can read the file:
    set otherScriptsData to read file (path to home folder as text & "data.file")
    For the second option, just store the data as a property:
    property myData:""
    set myData to "here's the data to save"
    Now loading the data in the second script goes like:
    set otherScript to load script file "path:to:other.scpt"
    set otherScriptsData to otherScript's myData
    Here you can see the second script loading the script then reading its myData property.

  • Include Idoc Script in another

    Hi,
    Do we have a way to include (like a library) an .idoc script inside another idoc script ?
    Thanks,
    Sunil

    Absolutely!
    iDocScript contains a feature called include. For more details see http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/doc.1111/e10726/c02_application.htm#CSIDO118

  • How to Include one iView into another iView

    Hi All,
    My requirement is to have 3 input fields across many iviews. on entering the values in those fields, i will invoke a Web Service Model.
    I dont want to keep these 3 fields in all iviews, rather i am planning to create one iview with 3 fields integrated with model and call this iview in many other iviews.
    How do i achieve this in wed dynpro coding. In JSP, there is a concept called "Include Jsp Page" . Is there any similar kind of functionality in WD.
    Kindly guide me .
    Reg/Venkat

    Hi,
    In the portal, create a page and place the iView having the three input fields on top. Place the second iView below. Keep differing the second iView for every page. In this way you can make the iView with 3 input fields only in the desired pages. You can use EPCF to invoke / navigate to another iView.

  • Pass results of one script to another?

    I have 2 scripts: The first converts a Word document into a PDF, the second splits the PDF into separate files and names the files after a text string it finds in the PDF.
    I've tried to 'join' them to make a single script (or Automator Workflow, but I'm no good at scripting!
    Can anyone help?
    The first script to convert Word is called via Automator - "Ask for Finder Items":
    property theList : {"doc", "docx"}
    on run {input, parameters}
      set output to {}
      tell application "Microsoft Word" to set theOldDefaultPath to get default file path file path type documents path
      repeat with x in input
      try
      set theDoc to contents of x
      tell application "Finder"
      set theFilePath to container of theDoc as text
      set ext to name extension of theDoc
      if ext is in theList then
      set theName to name of theDoc
      copy length of theName to l
      copy length of ext to exl
      set n to l - exl - 1
      copy characters 1 through n of theName as string to theFilename
      set theFilename to theFilename & ".pdf"
      tell application "Microsoft Word"
      set default file path file path type documents path path theFilePath
      open theDoc
      set theActiveDoc to the active document
      save as theActiveDoc file format format PDF file name theFilename
      copy (POSIX path of (theFilePath & theFilename as string)) to end of output
      close theActiveDoc
      end tell
      end if
      end tell
      end try
      end repeat
      tell application "Microsoft Word" to set default file path file path type documents path path theOldDefaultPath
      return output
    end run
    The second script asks for PDFs and searches for a string beginning "Number: " and uses that string to write single PDFs:
    _main()
    on _main()
      script o
      property aa : choose file with prompt ("Choose PDF Files.") of type {"com.adobe.pdf"} ¬

            end
        end
    end
    EOF"
      end script
      tell o to run

    Is it even possible to convert these 2 scripts into a single one?
      copy length of theName to l
      copy length of ext to exl
      close theActiveDoc
      end tell

    Hello
    You may combine the second script with the Run AppleScript action converting doc/docx to pdf by creating a Run AppleScript action with the following code that receives a list of POSIX path of pdf files from the previous action and put the action after the previous action in workflow.
    Since the previous action returns list of POSIX path of pdf files, _main() in the second script is modified accordingly.
    The resulting workflow would consist of three actions:
    1) Ask for Finder Items
    2) Run AppleScript (to convert doc/docx to pdf)
    3) Run AppleScript (the following code)
    on run {input, parameters}
        _main(input)
    end run
    on _main(argv)
            list argv : list of POSIX path of pdf files
        script o
            property aa : choose file with prompt ("Choose PDF Files.") of type {"com.adobe.pdf"} ¬

                set args to args & a's POSIX path's quoted form & space

    * Of course, actions 2) and 3) can be merged into one action. Or even all 3 actions can be merged into one. But I think a workflow with 3 separate actions is just fine.
    Hope this may help,

    What kind of declarations are that? Can you give us an example and tell us aproximately how many there are of those?
    If you don't provide more details your question can only be answered by guesswork and thus the answers won't be of much use to you.

  • Passing parameter value from one script to another in job chain steps

    Hi all,
    We have a scenario where in we have a job chain with two steps
    1-Step 1 contains a script which fetches value from database to the script parameter(in/out) - PAR_DB_VALUE
    2-Step 2 contains another script which uses the value of the parameter PAR_DB_VALUE and has to assign to another parameter in the script 2 called PAR_FETCHED_VALUE(in)
    How to pass the value of PAR_DB_VALUE to PAR_FETCHED_VALUE which are parameters in two different steps
    Please help
    Thanks and Regards
    Raj

    Hi,
    You can achieve this as follows (CPS version 6 & 7):
    - Edit the chain
    - Go to the second step, to the parameters of the script call in that step
    - Go to the parameter (PAR_FETCHED_VALUE) that you want to be filled by the parameter of the first step
    - choose "Chain value" in the detail screen for the parameter, and select the desired out parameter from the drop down
    Note that both parameters need to be of the same type for this to work.

    Anton.

  • Send parameter from one script logic to another. SAP BPC 7.5 NW.

    Hello!
    Before i start, want to apologize for my English.
    We work on SAP BPC 7.5 for NetWeaver.
    In general,  we want to send parameter from one Script logic file to another script logic file.
    I will explain why :
    1. We have parametr like %C_CATEGORY_SET% (and another four parameter, like groups, currency and etc.) that work on one script(next, i will named it A_Script).
           We will send this parametr from BPC EXCEL (we will create button, then use command MNU_eData_SelectPackage(we also set parameters) and run package that we need, also before we set script for this package by the SAP Guide. We send some data, and this A_Script work good. Everything that we want from this script work correctly. )
    2. Next we create another script(B_Script) , and we want use %C_CATEGORY_SET%, but we don't know how use this parametr, if we will just write this parametr on Script Logic,  apears error ("C_CATEGORYDATAVALUE" is not assigned to the Data Administrator). We try to solve this problem by using System_Constants.lgf, but we get error.
    Code:
    *DIM C_CATEGORY          WHAT=%C_CATEGORY_SET%;             WHERE=<<<;                   USING=<<<;    TOTAL=<<<
    *DIM C_ENTITY                 WHAT=%ENTITYSET%;                         WHERE=<<<;                  USING=<<<;      TOTAL=<<<
    *DIM GROUPS                   WHAT=%GROUPS_SET%;                    WHERE=<<<;                  USING=<<<;     TOTAL=<<<
    *DIM RPTCURRENCY         WHAT=%RPTCURRENCY_SET%;         WHERE=<<<;                  USING=<<<;      TOTAL=<<<
    *DIM TIME                          WHAT=%TIME_SET%;                          WHERE=<<<;                  USING=<<<;     TOTAL=<<<
    If we will change %C_CATEGORY_SET% for  ACTUAL, and also change another parameters, script will work, package will run correctly. But we need using parameters, because we didn't exactly what will choose our client.
    Our question have BPC Script Logic some kind of Globar Parameter(Variable), that we will set in A_Script, and then use them on B_Script?
    How can we define parameter from another script logic, maybe we should send it?
    Should we use System_Constants for solving this problem, if yes, how?
    Any help will be appreciated

    Hi Ethan Jewett
    1. About %ENTITYSET% it is normal. Before this line  i write :
    *SELECT(%ENTITYSET%, "ENTITY", GROUPS, "[ID]=%GROUPS_SET%")
    So it is not this problem. %ENTITYSET% just parameter, that i used.
    2. Are you running the scripts using the same data manager package? I am running two different package for 2 different Script.
    For example aPackage for aScript, and bPackage for bScript.
    My questions was how can i send parametr from one script to another, for example i can run another script by using BADi command Runlogic, but how can send parameter that i need to used on another script. I have for example parameter %GROUPS_SET% (CG001) on aScript, but i can't get this parameter on another script, if i write %GROUPS_SET% i will get error  ("GROUPSDATAVALUE" is not assigned to the Data Administrator)
    OR
    Maybe if you will answer for next question, i will be able solve problem , How can i send parameter CG001 (this is %GROUPS_SET%, for example it stay in EXCEL in cell A5) from excel to script logic by running package. Maybe i can get cell value on Dynamic Script Data Management?
    My Dynamic Script on bPackage

    You might want to try to better understand shell script programming. It makes it otherwise difficult for a poster to recommend you a solution. I don't believe you can expect others to do all the development and testing work for you. Since this is a forum on a volunteer basis, you might also want to consider marking helpful replies and review received answers more carefully.
    Perhaps the following will work for you:
    #!/bin/bash
    export ORACLE_SID=TEST
    export ORACLE_HOME=/u01/oratest/db/tech_st/11.1.0
    export ORACLE_SID ORACLE_HOME
    export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/lib
    export PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/bin:$PATH
    echo

    spawn sftp $username@$hostname
    expect -exact "[email protected]'s password:"
    send -- "$password\r"
    expect -exact "sftp>"
    send -- "cd /sftp0002/uat/inbox\r"
    expect -exact "sftp>"
    send -- "lcd /u01/oratest/processed\r"
    expect -exact "sftp>"
    send -- "put $fn\r"
    expect -exact "sftp>"
    send -- "quit\r"
    send -- "exit\r"
    expect eofP.S. The above code is very simplistic and does not take error handling into account.
    Using CURL, like I suggested in my first reply was an easier solution, since you don't need to to script Expect, but it turns out that you might need Enterprise Linux 6 or install at least CURL verison 7.19 to support sftp.

  • Include one *.jspx page in another

      Hello, I've got problem with including one *.jspx page in another.
    My pages:
    index.jspx:
    <?xml version='1.0' encoding='utf-8'?>
    <jsp:root xmlns:jsp="http://java.sun.com/JSP/Page" version="2.0" xmlns:f="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core"
              xmlns:af="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/faces/rich">
        <jsp:directive.page contentType="text/html;charset=utf-8"/>
        <f:view>
            <af:document id="fileExplorerDocument" title="jjj">
                <af:form id="f1">
                    <af:panelStretchLayout id="psl" topHeight="100" startWidth="10%" endWidth="10%">
                        <f:facet name="top">
                            <jsp:include page="/include.jspx" flush="true"/>
                        </f:facet>
                    </af:panelStretchLayout>
                </af:form>
            </af:document>
        </f:view>
    </jsp:root>
    and
    include.jspx:
    <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?>
    <jsp:root xmlns:jsp="http://java.sun.com/JSP/Page" version="2.1" xmlns:f="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core"
              xmlns:af="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/faces/rich" xmlns:h="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html">
        <af:panelStretchLayout id="header_psl" topHeight="20" startWidth="300" endWidth="300" bottomHeight="20">
            <f:facet name="start">
                <af:outputText value="ads" id="header_asd"/>
            </f:facet>
        </af:panelStretchLayout>
    </jsp:root>
    why this doesn't work? When I paste content from include.jspx page it works...

    I think you need to review how ADF works. After that, create a page fragment with the code you want to include. Create a task flow and insert the page fragment. Insert the taskflow as a region in your jspx page and that's all.
