Inclusion of Cube in infoset in Ver 3.5

Hi
Is anybody tell me how to include the cube in infoset since i came to know that the infoset can have ods only. We are using BW ver 3.5 . Actually we are looking for infoset facility to have intersection functionalinty.

You can't use info cube in infoset. It is meant for info objects and ODS only. check this..

      Infocubes?ODS?Multiprovider?Infoset?
In our design stage we had no problem creating ODS and Cube's but as our requirements kept changing we had to create Infosets rather than Multicubes as we were not having common fields between Cube and ODS. Secondly we couldn't have cubes as Infosets are built between ODS and Infoobjects.
      Can someone throw some light on the performance issues based on our current design were we have ODS and Infosets built. What are the pros and cons between
1) InfoCubes and ODS
2) MultiCubes and Infosets
      Any kind of thoughts would be of great help in our analysis.

Guys anyone who faced difficulty in analyzing such issues please do post your views.

We has the same requirements ...and had to build a lot of info sets ....
Reporting on any of the Navigational Attributes is NOT possible on an Info Set.
Go to RSRT and look on what fields on which the query is doing a Sequential read...if required try to build indexes on that fields.
In some cases we cannot restrict the queries ...if you are queering on yearly reports ...running against InfoSet's is not at all recommended......
For better performance of your queries try to build secondary indexes and as far as possible try to avoid InfoSet ....BW 3.5 has ADP try to workout something on that if u are on 3.5.
For performance try to compress your request in your cubes on your BP.

Infoset transport error

Hi All,
I changed an infoset which is based on a cube and an infoobject an tranported to production. I am getting below error while transport:
Standard InfoCube XXX0010 no longer has the field CALCYC
Standard InfoCube XXX0010 no longer has the field 0SOLDTO
Standard InfoCube XXX0010 no longer has the field 0CUSTOMER__0INDUSTRY
Standard InfoCube XXX0010 no longer has the field 0USTOMER__B2B
Standard InfoCube XXX0010 no longer has the field 0CUSTOMER__CUSPOT
Standard InfoCube XXX0010 no longer has the field 0CUSTOMER__EANCST
Standard InfoCube XXX0010 no longer has the field 0CUSTOMER__IDTRNS
In standard InfoCube XXX0010 field CALCYC no longer has dimension XXX00106
In standard InfoCube XXX0010 field 0SOLDTO no longer has dimension XXX00102
The problem here is the underlying cube XXX0010 is changed as a part of some development going on in the system and above fields are newly added which are not yet available in production. We cannot transport the underlying cube to production as the development is in process.
Also we dont require the above fields in our infoset (I have not checked the above fields in infoset). Is there any way to transport the infoset without capturing the above fields. Currently the infoset is in modified version in production.
Please let me know if there is any solution to this.

Hi,
It is not possible to transport the Infoset correctly if underlying cube is not transported before..
Other alternative, You need make the cube in development same as production... then activate cube and Infoset and transport the Infoset to production... later you can redo changes on the cube

Infosets on multi provider !!

hi guys
i have questions about infocube and multi provider . i want to take 1 report from multiprovider and cube. hwo do i achieve this..?
i already have existing Multi provider and i created cube . i am thinking of creating infoset top on multiproider and cube then write query on that ?

infosets can combine the data from info object and ods and cube(BI) .
multiprovider can include all the infoproviders like info object,cube,ods,infoset.
hence create a new multiprovider that include all the objects in the previous multiprovider and the new cube and then build a report on the new multiprovider.

Remote Cube on top of Multicube - possible?

Scenario 1:
Quick question: I have two BW systems (System "A" and System "B").
In BW System "A" I have Multicubes. In System "B" I have basic Cubes.
Is it possible to link MultiCubes from System "A" with basic Cubes from System "B"?
Scenario 2:
Is it possible to select in a RemoteCube (Connected with two BW systems) in which Cube the BW should select data (I know that in a MultiCube I can restrict to an InfoProvider).

You can create Multi Provider only on the objects:
Base Cube,ODS,InfoSet, Remote-Cubes and InfoObjects. NOT on Multi Providers.
You can create Remote Cube on BW "A" based on Data Source of a Base-Cube in BW System "B". You can use this Remote cube to create Multi Provider.

SID in Update Table of DSO

Hi,
What is the use of the SID in the update (or new) table of DSO? Anyway the values of the data and key fields are stored in this table. How does the SID entry help here?

Yes , you are correct why do we need SID for DSO if it supposed to have a Flat Structure like a Db table? Quite surprising really.
But the reason lies as BEx queries are dependent on SIDs, i.e all the BEx queries need SIDs to run. This is common for queries on Cube, DSO , InfoSet of MP. That is how BEx queries have been designed.
You can understand that by running a query and checking the work process detail from SM50. You will see all the joins are based on SID.
In DSO settings you may / may not choose the option of "Generation of SIDs upon Activation". If you do not choose the option, SIDs will not be generated during activation and in BW3.5 you can not report on this DSO. But in BI 7 , you can report in this case also, as system generates SIDs run time. Query response will be slower then.
If you do not generate SIDs during activation, that does not have any impact on DTP loading time. But it has huge impact on DSO activation time. Not generating SIDs will make your DSO activation time 1/3 rd approximately.

Combining Purchasing and AP data

Trying to combine a bit of AP data with some Purchasing info. The data mix would be about 75-80% Purchasing data to 20-25% AP data. Multiproviders don't work unless the format is the same, and infosets are problematic. We've got a cube built for each, but now are trying to figure out the best way to proceed. We've hit upon 4 solutions so far, each of which have their own issues:
1) Infoset solution 1 -- Infoset both cubes
2) Infoset solution 2 -- Infoset the purchasing cube and outer join an AP DSO
3) Build the AP cube out to mirror the format of the Purchasing cube (plus the added AP fields) and fill in the needed Purchasing data using an ABAP lookup in the transformation to fill the gaps of data from Purchasing.
4) Add the fields needed from AP to the Purchasing Cube and look up the data during Purchasing loads (similar to option 3).
Any other solutions anyone else can come up with? Thanks in advance.

Error while executing query

Hi all,
I am not able to execute a report in BEx Analyzer. It keeps asking for userid and password and after that it gives message saying Query not yet calculated. When tried to execute again using the refresh button it disconnects from BW server. (I am typing correct userid and password).
Tried to check for the query that was created. Even the query doesnt open in BEx Query Designer. It gives error message saying - System Error in Program CL_RSD_MULTIPROV and from FACTORY -02.
Program error in class SAPMSSY1 method: UNCAUGHT_EXCEPTION
(This query is built on Multiprovider). I went in the BW system and checked if the Multiprovider and its cubes were inactive. I found that there was no problem with Multiprovider and its cubes. All are in active and executable state.
not sure what the problem is. Do let me know how we can resolve this issue.

Hi,
Reason for such error could be that you had some info-object either characteristic or key-figure in your query which now is deleted and since you are trying to open that query it is checking that info-object in source (multi-provider/cube/dso/infoset whatever is applicable in your case) which is not available and hence giving this error.
You need to add that info-object in info-provider on which query is built, ones you add that do necessary modification in query and then remove unwanted info-object from multi-provider.

Problem exporting a Financial Report to excel

Hello Everyone,
Of several users who have tested this functionality, I only have 1 user who is experiencing this problem, however we can't figure out what's wrong... Here is what is happening:
1. Run a financial report from the web-portal using HTML preview
2. Once the report is displayed in HTML, he goes to File | export | fully formated excel file (he also tried with the query ready report and had the same problem)
3. he is prompted to either save or open this xml file
4. he selects open, he gets an excel window and is prompted with the following: "Please select how you would like to open this file:" and the radio button options are: "as an xml list", "As a read-only workbook", "use the xml source task pane".
5. he selects "as an xml list" he then is prompted with the following: "The specified source does not refer to a schema. Excel will create a schema based on the xml source data."
6. he clicks on "ok" and the result is what looks like an excel pivot table except is says "error" in one of the cells and then an adjacent cell says: Logon Failed. User Name must not be empty.
No matter which combination of the options he chooses, he sees the same result.
In addition, I know it is not a problem with his ID b/c he can run the report AND export to excel just fine when he does it from my computer!
Has anyone seen this problem before? Is this maybe a setting that needs to be changed? etc...?
FYI - we are in the final stages of migrating to system 9 so our current configuration is as follows: Financial Reports / Workspace version 9.3.1 however his run time client on is version 7.1.2 and the essbase cube is version 9.3.1. I have several other people who have run the same report, against the same essbase cube, also using the ver 7 RTC and it works fine.
Any ideas???

Business Content Activation of business partner

Hi,
I am activating standard business partner from business content.The business partner we have right now is of version 3.3/01 and has lot of custom fields. When I am activating the version 3.5/03 I want to make sure I don't lose those custom attributes and also want to know how this will impact the cubes,ODS,Infosets,Update rules,Transfer rules, queries etc associated with this InfoObject. Can anyone please help me out with this issue.
Also while trying to simulate installation of an InfoObject,it ends up with red light. It gives me a message that one of the attributes in the latest version is a navigational attribute and the older version it was a display attribute.Hence while simulating I check both the install and match/copy box so that I can transfer the selections without having to make it navigational but end up with the red light. Is it advisable that I go ahead with installation or how should I go above it.

Kal,
when you activate the new version , the version is changed from M to A and the new business content would become the active state...
But then since the old BPartner IOBJ is being used in ODS.. cubes etc , I am not sure if your Business COntent installation can proceed since there is master data as well as the same being used across BW.
You could try a merge instead to see if he new fields as part of the new business content is carried over.

How to model this scenario?

hi experts,
i want to extract hr person administration infomation to bw, i have 2 idea and cann't determine which one is suitable.
1. extract each infoType(such as pa0001, pa9001...) into seperate cube in bw, and join these cube by infoset(the customer view info cross infotype).
the point is now i have put 8 cubes/infoObjects into the infoset and i am very worry about the performance.
2.create a generic dataSource from the infoset based on the HR logical database PNP, and extract the data to BW, that sounds better.
but i want to make the dataSource delta enable, and how to set the delta field in the infoset? which field should i set? for example, the infoset join the pa9001,pa9002, pa9003. each of these pa tables has the field of update date, which one should i set for the delta field?

Have you checked personnel admin objects e.g. 0PA_C01, 0PAPA_C02 etc? In my opinion these cubes give maximum information.

what do you mean by environment ? do you mean review of the current BW environment?
You can start with the extracts --> data model --> masters --> ODS --> Cubes --> multiproviders --> Infosets --> queries --> templates / workbooks.

Max. version at query level

Hello Experts,
Excuse my limited knowledge on BI. I 've a question.
Say im my cube I have records as below:
DocNo. | Ver. | Value
11111   | 01    | 120
11111   | 02    |   140
11113   | 00    | 100
I want the query to extract the maximum version of the document such that it should give me record no.2 & 3.
Please note that the version and DocNo. are charectorstics while the value is a keyfigure.

Thanks for your reply. We created a KF and populate with the document version. then we created a condition on Bex with Top N so the result would look like something below. The doc no. 1001 have 2 version in the cube while in the query output it gives me the top most version which is 1. But the problem now is the result row in the end. If you notice the value comes as 2 while it should be only 1.
In the Cube we have:
DocNr |     Ver. |     Value
10001 |                            0 |                            1.00
10001 |                            1 |                            1.00
10002 |                           0 |                               0
In the query we get:
DocNr |     Ver. |     Value
10001 |                            1 |                            1.00
10002 |                           0 |                               0

Sap bi authorizations issue with query designer..

i am using bw 3.x and bi 7 query designer with different kind of probs?...
i am able to see the info provider in query desinger 3.x. but i can see only cubes .i am not able to find dso or infosets or multiprovider.. can anyone suggest is there any authorizations issues..please suggest.
and with BI 7 query designer i am not able to see info providers in info areas folder to design a query..
please suggest if any authorizations should be added or not

i went to tcode su01 and entered profile 0bi_all..it doesnt work.
and executed tcode su56.there i can find list of BI related authorization profiles
i added s_rs_all profile to my user. even then i face the same problem.
i can see only queries in query designer of bi 7 format and i can not view info providers.
i can view only cube and infosets and i can not view dso and multiproviders in bw 3.x type query designer
