Inconsistencies between ADL and installed Air runtime?
Hi Everyone,
I have created an ftp upload program for air that mainly utilizes FTP classes from http://maliboo.pl/projects/FlexFTP/and I eventually got it working perfectly in the ADL debugger environment but when I publish it to an air file and install it the upload won't work.
The classes use socket connections for the upload. I realise it may be hard to give advice without me providing all of the code but I'm hopeing someone might have some general advice about diferences in the ADL environment and the installed air runtime that might cause this?
I have noticed that the installed Air is v1.5.1 and that the ADL id v1.5.0 but I have looked at the release notes and there doesn't seem to be differences between these version that explain the problem.
Thankyou to anyone who is able to help.
Chris.
No errors when I run it in Air. There is one sandbox error in adl that I for some reason can't catch, but it seems to work fine if I just ignore it.
There shouldn't be any sandbox issues, as my understanding is that you don't use cross domain policy files for air apps.

Silent install Air Runtime and Air App with custom installer?
I want to use a custom installer that will perform some actions, and then silently install air runtime and an air application. The goal here is to be able to perform a customized install for an Air application (for a user that might not have Air installed) without confusing the user with multiple install screens. Can I use a custom installer to silently install Air (if the user doesn't have it installed) and the Air app? If so, are there any restrictions on the custom installer? If there are any examples of this, please provide the links.
Since you applied for the distribution from Adobe you should
have received a link to a page where you can download what they
call the "side-car" installer. It's basically an installation
system they are making available to developers that can be easily
configured to deliver a bundled runtime and application
installation for Mac and Windows.
Check your email again and see if you can't find a link in
there pointing you to a download page for the AIR runtime as well
as the aforementioned side-car installer. For those who don't know,
here
is where you can apply for a redistribution permit for AIR.
I have a small tutorial posted that might be of help to you
on my blog:

Issues installing AIR runtime on OS X
I've been trying to install AIR runtime on my mac for some
time now without any luck. Running the installer gives me an error
asking me to contact the administrator (saying installation may not
be allowed by admin)
This is the contents of the installation log file
Performing runtime install
UI SWF load is complete
UI initialized

runtime install entering error state: [ErrorEvent

What do i need to do to get AIR up and running?Does the directory /Library/Frameworks/Adobe AIR.framework
exist on your machine? If so, I recommend removing it and trying
again--the log file suggests you might have a broken install lying
around.

Facetime between iPad2 and MacBook Air worked fine here in the USA. The iPad2 is now in Rome, Italy and we can't connect internationally. We both can hear the caller ringing in and can see who is trying to call, but after accepting the call we cannot connect. No voice, no video. iPad is successfully sending and receiving eMails, but no Factime connection What's up?
I am curious if possibly the hotel has some sort of VOIP block on. Have you tried Skype? Did you talk to the hotel staff? My husband is traveling to Milan in a couple of days and I wonder if he will run into the same issue. He has had no problems from Istanbul but he is staying in a corporate apartment there. If you find an answer please post back. Thanks

Whats the difference between the Flash Player runtime and Adobe AIR runtime?
Hey all. I've been into coding for about 5 years now, but I'm a recent convert to Flash development. One of the questions I have at the moment is, considering that SWF files can be run by either Adobe Flash Player OR Adobe AIR, what's the real difference between the two runtime environments? What API's and Objects exist in one environment, but not the other?
Basically what I'm more or less trying to establish is, when would I want to develop an SWF for AIR, and when would I want to develop for Flash Player, considering that Flash Player can also execute locally (providing support for creating "desktop applications").
Thanks in advance,
Jay.Main Difference for the user: he also has to install the AIR runtime, that is about 15MB (Flash Plugin won`t do the job alone).
The market penetration for AIR is way below that of flash, so your user needs a good reason to install the Runtime
Also the System requirements are much more harder, you can`t use an Air application in XPSP1 for example.
As a rule of thumb you could say: Use Air, if you want to have the user something saved locally, with AIR you have the possibility to write any fileformat to hard disk, with flash you can only use so called Local shared objects -
Adobe AIR - Inconsistencies in detecting whether Adobe AIR runtime is installed
Hello Flex community,
I am having issues with detecting whether Adobe AIR is installed using the following process: http://livedocs.adobe.com/flex/3/html/help.html?content=distributing_apps_3.html
Having installed Adobe AIR 1.5, we are at times getting a value of not installed from the getStatus() function of the air.swf located at http://airdownload.adobe.com/air/browserapi/air.swf
Has anyone else faced this issue before? If so, does anyone have any steps to resolve it?
Thanks!
MauricioAfter doing some more research on the issue, I have found other users encountering the same issue we are:
http://groups.google.com/group/air-tight/browse_thread/thread/706716c29caf0254
http://www.flexdeveloper.eu/forums/adobe-air/air-swf%27s-getstatus-method-mistakenly-retur ns-%27available%27-when-air-is-installed/
http://forums.adobe.com/thread/435935
In the second thread, it says:
“My issue seems to be specifically related to the use of "Silent Install". My client has a distribution license for the AIR runtime and is bundling the AIR installer with their installer. When Silent Install is used to install the AIR Runtime, Adobe's air.swf reports that the runtime is not installed. This happens until the user initiates an air app, at which point air.swf is able to detect the runtime installation.””
This seems to suggest there is a bug with the Silent Installer or with the air.swf getStatus function. I tried the steps above and was able to recreated and resolve the issue. Does anyone else know of a different workaround? -
Hey guys,
I'm having some major issues installing PE8. I can open the installer screen fine, and it installs fine until it gets to installing the Air Runtime Process. I have left it downloading that one process for about 5 hours, and i'm not exaggerating. Finnally, I get too mad waiting for it to finish that I exit out of the installation process. Even though the installation was never fully finished, for some reason I do have a Desktop icon for PE8. I click on that and it opens the splash screen with the buttons "New project", "Open Project", and "Organize". When I try to open "New Project" it begins loading the files that it needs to to open it. When it gets to loading the Windows Media file, it freezes and then crashes.
I have uninstalled the PE8 and reinstalled it about 5 times now. I have also used the Windows Cleanup program to clean these corrupted files out of my system before reinstalling. I have called in twice now to the technical support and they haven't helped me one ounce. Any answers would be appreciated! Thanks
Thanks Again,
Spencer

Need how to install Air Runtime and App from CD Rom
I am looking for some direction on how to bundle the Air
runtime and my app together in a single executable file from a CD
rom, for MAC and WIN. I already have applied for and received
licensing necessary form Adobe and I have the dmg and exe of the
Air runtime.
I have the seamless install working where internet access is
available however the initial group who will receive the app won't
have internet access at the time of distribution so the bundled
install will be from CD rom.Since you applied for the distribution from Adobe you should
have received a link to a page where you can download what they
call the "side-car" installer.
I have a small tutorial posted that might be of help to you
on my blog:

Install Air Runtime Update without Prompt
Hi
Do you know if is it possible a silent update of a new version of Air Framework?
I developed an application with silent auto update enabled but if there is a new version of the runtime the update manager asks to the user if he wants to install the update.
I found in the adobe website the Air Settings Manager application but it only allow you to disable / enable the adobe air runtime.
Can someone help me please?
Thank you
CarloUnfortunately, the Runtime updater is never silent. If this is important to you, I'd suggest adding a new feature request on it over at bugbase.adobe.com. You might also want to look into some of the new installation features included with AIR 3.

Any way to install AIR runtime on HTC MyTouch 3G Slide?
Hello,
I see on the list of certified devices that the HTC MyTouch is listed.
http://www.adobe.com/flashplatform/certified_devices/smartphones.html
It's not clear whether this implies support for the MyTouch 3G Slide. I have the Slide, and I have done the manual upgrade to 2.2.1 (Froyo). My phone can run Flash animations, so I think the 2.2.1 upgrade came with a built in Flash player of sorts.
I cannot find the Adobe Air runtime in the Android Market, and I'm not able to install the runtime through adb on the command line either. Moreover, navigating to market.android.com on the phone in the browser and pulling up the AIR runtime displays an error that my device is not supported.
I think the Slide has an ARM6 based processor, which could be the issue, but that doesn't explain why the MyTouch is listed in the certified devices. I undersand there are a few different MyTouch models, but I don't think any of them will be higher performance than the 3G Slide -- all of the MyTouch phones are entry level phones. Could it be that the MyTouch listed in the certified devices list is a new 4G model? Am I missing something?
Regardless, I am not able to install the AIR runtime on my phone.
Anyone have suggestions, or is it not possible to install the AIR runtime on the MyTouch 3G Slide running Froyo?
Thanks in advance. That's what I figured. Thanks for confirming that.
If anyone from Adobe is reading this, it seems that the list of certified devices should list the HTC MyTouch explicitly as the MyTouch 4G since there are a lot of MyTouch 3G devices (including, but not limited to the MyTouch 3G Slide) that are apparently not supported for AIR.
The list of certified devices I'm talking about is here:

Seamless Install not working for installing Air runtime
hi - is anyone else having this problem today? it was working perfectly for me yesterday but no joy today. The air.swf is still loading in correctly and works fine if you already have the Air runtime installed. But once it tries to install the runtime, you get "A download error occurred. Try to download again?" I've checked it on a couple of different air app sites and its not working anywhere. Anyone else experiencing this or have any suggestions about how to fix it? Thanks
The issue is no longer happening. It continued for most of Wednesday but I haven't experienced the problem since then. Thanks for looking into it. Caitriona

Prompt Users to Download and Install Air
I don't know if this is possible, but is there a way to
package Adobe Air with your application installer, so users that
don't have Adobe Air installed, that it will prompt them to install
adobe air, and then following this it will install the application.
I would like to distribute, but I don't want the user to have
to do 2 installs from websites.
Possible?
Appreciate any feedback, thank you.take a look:
http://shu-player.com/
Shu enables you to increase the power and reach of Adobe AIR.
With Shu your AIR applications can quickly be converted into
standalone applications to run on PC or Mac machines without the
AIR runtime installed! Shu applications can also be run from a CD
or network share and do not require installation. -
Inconsistencies between Balance and Line items
Hello masters!
I found some inconsistencies betwen balance and line items. I tried to solve the problem using FAGLF03 and RFINDEX (when executing SAP retrieved: "New GL is active. GLT0 can not be adjusted") but both did not work.
We have never gone trough an archiving process.
Thanx
