Incorrect overhead % , released to material, re-run cost estimate ?
Hi guys,
Our costing team found that they are missing to maintain overhead % in Costing Sheet.
They already did CK40N, Mark and release to material master for April 2011. They want to change
the Cost Sheet and then re-run Cost estimate, mark and release.
Can we do CKR1 (we have over 1000 active SKU), and then release and mark again to April 2011.
If they do not re-calulate the plan cost, it will create a large production variance this month.
Thanks a lot !
Hi
Technically - You can process 1000 materials in one single cost estimate run in Ck40N...
however, for the sake of easy, create 2 Costing runs with 500 mats each.... it would enable you to handle the exercise easily

How to run cost estimate for the purchased materials to updt Pln prices?
Hello Experts,
Can any body explain how to upload the plan prices through cost estimate in purchased materials..
Regards,
RavanHi Ajay,
Thank you for reply
I do agree update plan prices through LSMW or Manually in Material Master
I am trying to update planed price1 and 2 through cost estimate, for this I configured like below
New costing type:G1
here I selected for prices update as "prices other than standard price" and valuation view as Legal valuation
New valuation variant :GG1
here I given MAP as a first priority in strategy sequence

Update material price without cost estimate
hi guys,
I'm facing a problem. The requirement is to update the other prices( plan price1, tax price etc) without a cost estimate. My parnter suggested me to use BAPI_COSTESTIMATE_UPDATE_PRICE. But I found this FM needs an existing cost estimate to get the price then update the price field specified.
Do you have any ideas ?
thanks a lot,
ireneHi
Do you have the price to be uploaded in your mind or does it need a calculation??
If it is in your mind, use LSMW for MM02 and update the price directly
If it needs calculation and then updation, then use this BAPI...

No release of production order without standard cost estimate
Hi All,
I have an requirement, that is production order for a material should not be released or saved if standard cost estimate for that period is not released. Basically it should not allow to release or save the production for that material, is SCE is not run for that period. I tried various options, i also overheard its possible through user exit and many people have succeed in that.
Has anybody overcome this problem, please do let me know. And which user exit??
Thanks in advance
With Best Regards
GJ.Hi...
I have faced the same problem in my previous project. What i have instructed to my client is to take control of Master data and put the status as "03" Blocked for movement till the statndard cost is released for this material.
You can relase the status to "E2" in Cross Plant Status Field in Costing one view once the cost estimate is released for the material.
I hope this works for you.
Please let me know if you require any fruther information.
Thank you,

Confuguarable Material Cost Estimate
Hi All.,
It is an urgent requirement.......
My client having both configuarable & non configuarable materials.....
with regarding to the configuarable material cost estimate i don't have good grip on this.
Can anybody please share some guidlines for how to create the cost estimate.....
Thanks one and all.,
RajaConfigurable materials can only have a cost estimate when there is a sales order bom to define the build.
We use configurable material and the cost estimate is configured in the same manner as standard material (Costing variant, costing dates, transfer control, etc. but some of the details differ), but it is only Saved within a Sales order. You can use CU50 for a trial cost - the configuration will have to be created in CU50 before it will cost.
When costing configurable materials in sales orders or for sales orders the valuation variant is different from standard cost variant in these points:
1 - The costing type is different. 18 - Sales order costing vs. 01 - Standard cost est. (mat.)
The Costing type for Sales order does not allow updating of the standard price in the Mat Mstr
The Costing type for Sales order also controls the use of Labor overhead for the costing variant.
2 - Valuation Variant can be different - Valuation for Prod Costing specifies the rules to build a cost estimate. For Sales order, you may want it to use ONLY the standard price for a material/component, and NOT build a cost estimate.
3 - Date control - The default from date for the Config Mat in a Sales order is Today while for product costing it is first of next month
Our Prod Cost Est. is valid until the end of the Fiscal year when a new cost estimate is released. Our Config Material on a Sales order is valid until the end of time.
I cannot explain why we chose one over the other, most of the decisions were made before I arrived. But the Costing Type Difference is very important to us, because there is no chance that the cost estimate will interfere with setting of standards and it allows searching for a Sales Order Cost estimate.
You have to analyze how each part of the costing variant could impact the business and decide how to set it. If circumstances change, you can review the settings later. (I fully intend to review some of ours directly after this conversation.)
Sales Order Costing Variants are on OKY9 while product costing is at OKKN
Sales Order Costing Variants are assigned under SD Maintain Requirements Classes for Costing/Account Assignment (table T459K)
Hope this helps.

Hi Gurus,
Please tell me why we run cost estimate and what is the use of it.
What are impacts of running cost estimate?
Please revert asap.
Thank YouHi,
Cost Estimate is runned to calculate the Cost of Goods Manufactured or Cost of Goods Sold for your Materials and Update the prices in Material Master.
You have different ways of Calculating your COGS and COGM in SAP.
The Important methods are
Cost Estimate With Qunatity Structure and Without Quantity Structure.
In Cost Estimate With Qunatity Structure you will not have the option of entering the lot size for your Cost Estimation. It will be automatically determined from your BOM and Routing.
Whereas In Cost Estimate Without Quantity Structure you need to manually enter the Quantity at the time Cost Estimation.
With Regard to Impact of Cost Estimates.
While Running the Costing Run you have to Mark or Release your Cost Estimation results inorder to Update the prices in Material Master record.
Hope I have briefly given an idea baout Cost Estimates and its impact. -
MTO - RAW MATERIAL COST ESTIMATE
In an MTO scenario I am using configurable material I run order BOM cost estimate after sales order creation and as a result value gets updated against EK02 condition type in sales order.
For order Bom cost estimate system picks values from material master of raw materials in BOM.
Raw material has moving price in material master, I want to know
1)what price system picks from material master for cost estimate MOVING AVERAGE PRICE, STANDARD PRICE in accounting view
2)Do we run cost estimate for raw materials in MTO, and if so then at what time.hello sir,
plz help me
ne production order shows for cost element of cost of finished goods amt shows vey high the std price in material master is 71 and qty is 140 but it is not showing with this multiplication it is in lacs.
in the production order the target cost is zero and total actal cost in lacs and total variance percentage is 0 only but as per knowledge no variance know but if u calculate 140*.71 it should come less amt as per material maser but in production order i t shows high amount
twe found that they changed the price after GR is done now we want to post JV correct?what is the procedure to post JV in the current month .
the entry at the time of G done with high value is
Finshed goods a/c dr(balance sheet item) 89 post key
COGS cr (p&L item) 91(post key)
now what is the rectification entry

How SAP use transfer control or material cost estimate
Hello!
I have strategy "3-Previous standard cost estimate" in transfer control material cost estimate.
I have cost estimate for product AAA with status KA and costing date from 01.01.2014.
Product AAA produced from component BBB.
Component BBB has two cost estimates with costing date from 01.01.2014 and 01.02.2014.
I run cost estimate for product AAA with costing date from 06.03.2014.
Cost estimate not use existing cost estimate for component and create new cost estimate.
In help.sap.com contains next information about transfer strategy 3 - The system searches for existing previous cost estimate.
why my system does not use the existing cost estimate for component?
Thanks for attention.Thanks, Szymon!
I use russian interface and read russian help. Where stragegy 3 has name "Прошедшая плановая калькуляция" which means "The last planned cost estimate".
This led me astray.
In english help i read next:
Previous standard cost estimates
The system searches for an existing previous standard cost estimate.
You are completely right!
two more questions:
- We can not use strategy 3 if we not realesed cost estimate as standard price?
- What strategy we should use for transfer material cost estimate with status KA?
Thanks -

Error during variance calculation for production order "NO cost estimate "
hi all,
I'm gettin this error message while trying to calculate the variance for a production order. error is "No cost estimate for material xxxx for 01.10.2008.
when i look at material xxx in MM02, under cost estimate for current period there is a value but nothing for previous period. So i'm guessing the the Cost estimate was not run of this material? am i correct here?
Now if i try to run cost estimate for material for the missing periods using CK11N, i get an error "cannot save for past period"
Could some one tell me how can i get a prior year estimate into the material master?
I tried CK40N and CKN1 but just cant get it to work...
Thanks heapsHi Tom
unfortunately there is no easy way to get a product cost estimate for a past date. One of the reasons for this would be inconsistant product valuation.
You could in theory create a cost estimate in a current date and use an ABAP or manually adjust the valid from and to dates directly in the tables (e.g. KEKO). To do this in a production environment would be restrictive off course.
The standard cost estimate is the basis for the target costs so as an alternative you could look to change the configuration of the target cost version in OKV6 to either of the following:
- Plan Cost/Preliminary Costing (that is the plan calc done on your production order)
- Alternative Material Cost Estimate (one that is not necessarily a product costing that is set for marking and release).
I hope this is of some help.

Hi,
GURUS,
I donot have PP knowledge(I m into QM),and I am trying to run production cycle in rem.I have creatd the master data by opying from other..I have reached backflush stage, but system is saying no cost estimate available for period. Can somebody suggest what steps to do next.Or am i missing some master data.
Pls asssist
THANK you in advance
GRHi,
Hi assume u have created required master data, however pls reconfirm whether
a)u r MM mrp profile has rem profile and rem allowed indicator.
b)do u have a valid poduction version
c)in the P>V tab have u CHECKED teh Run shedule header tab.
Next, step will be to create Run schedule header.(3.1i) ,t code: MF01.or product cost collector as our PP guru suggested. The Run Scedule header is basically an object that collects all the Costing data related to u r product(inclusive of P.V,therefore BOM,Pr line,Routing,Validilty dates for RSh,etc). So when u run a cost estimate for this product the system will pick data with reference to RSh.This RSH is like a cost collector for updating or collecting the costs for this product.
Cost estimate(3.1 i),since our guru has suggested for laetr verison)
--CK11 run cost estimate(pls check status or error logs, and clear error logs with ur CO consultants help)
--CK20 for marking cost estinmate
--ck21 for releasing cost estimate.
Once it is succesfully done, check u r material master for FERT if the Std Cost estimate has updated.
Then u shud not have problem running backflush, since the system will now know where to credit or debit the costs .
GURUS,Pls update on this.

Hi,
While we are running Cost Estimate through tcode CK11N, amount seems to incorrect. In Material Master Moving price is showing differ than after showing Cost Estimate.
If Material Master showing Moving price 100.00, then during cost run why it is showing 150.00...
Please suggest..Please see below screenshot....
Actual Material price is 376.08 and in Cost Estimate it is showing 260.06.

Previous cost estimate missing
Hi All,
I'm still new in product costing. I have a situation like this :
Material AAA plant 1111
Run cost estimate and released :
- 28.06.2011 = RM147.65
- 12.08.2011 = RM177.71
But when I checked in material master (MM03) - I don't see the previous cost which is the June. I only see current cost (August).
I checked CK13N - for the costing run on June - it's still exist, so It's NOT DELETED, But it does not appear in my material master.
Please anyone can help me to explain ?
Regards,
MelissaHi,
You can check if the below link helps.
No future standard cost estimate exists for material * in plant *
And the given OSS note # 1386066 can help you.
