Incredible?? really?

I have been a Verizon customer for many years now and I am debating to jump ship.  I like the coverage of Verizon but there is a lack of quality in every device I have seen them put out for the past 3 years.
I currently have a BB 8330.  I am on my 4th one in 13 months.  I had two 8830's before that in a matter of 6 months.  I want to blame RIM but I've learned that the carrier actually manufactures the devices.  Correct me if i'm wrong.  I've read nothing but problems with Verizon blackberries.  Don't even get me going on the poorly executed under tested Storm.  Garbage.
fastforward to now!
I saw the incredible commercials, researched the info and started to get a little excited.  Not an iphone fan boy but a technology fan, I have come to appreciate the iphone and its glory.  However, I believe in competition as it only benefits the customer.
After looking over the incredible I saw potential and wanted to have this device.  That is when reality bit me.
Sprint is releasing the Evo on Friday and this phone should've been called the incredible because it makes the incredible look like a toy.
The incredible's screen is only 3.7 the evo is 4.3.  The incredbile can't record hd video, the evo can.  The incredible only has 512 rom while the evo has 1gig of rom.  Evo has hdmi port and dual cameras.  If Verizon is pushing skype as a service for so many smart phones, updates your blackberry with the **bleep** app for download without my permission, why build a next gen phone without a front facing camera?
I will tell you why.
Verizon like Microsoft is rushing products off the assembly line without proper testing.  they see an old model as a solution but failed miserably in the early 90's.  which is, build it, fix the major bugs but let the customer be our true test.  While we are buying these subpart incomplete devices, they reap the benefits of our calls and complaints.  so, while john doe bought his phone with  2 year contract to save 200 bucks on a device thats worth half that, he is stuck and can't upgrade from a manufacturers mistake.
While companies like ATT and sprint know that the coverage can always be added to, its the devices which matter.  I am tired of it.
Why all of you buy into the hype and continue to support the beast, I will never know.  I am not upgrading to anything new verizon has to offer and if they dont offer something competitive soon, I'll pay the 175.00 early termination fee and go to a carrier worth dealing with.  I don't want a polished turd, I want a device worth the over priced mark up you're pitching, Mr. Man.
This incredible is anything BUT incredible.  It has a small screen, low batt life, only 16 gig support and screams "patching needed".
Verizon is feeling the pinch and I know this because I got a random email from them asking a simple question "survey.  why did you cancel service recently?"  hahaha, really?  I haven't but that leak means people are jumping ship for a better device, especially with plan rates like sprint that has also invested millions in their network.
I'm a verizon customer now as with most my family, but if they don't do something to address the lack of quality in their devices, I have not problem dealing with a dropped call once in a while at ATT.  At least I know that can be addressed with adding services to that area vs costing me 300-600 for a new device every few months.
Thank you,
Keith H.

"While companies like ATT and sprint know that the coverage can always be added to, its the devices which matter"
if coverage is so easily added then why is that ATT's biggest problem...still? didn't the iphone come out like 3 years ago? and a few years later that is still a complaint.
also...do blackberries all run great on other networks? i'm not that familiar with them and have never owned one. i'm just guessing if you're gripe is with blackberries, wouldn't that have nothing to do with vzn? like i said, i'm not that familiar, but are you telling me a bb on ATT or sprint runs just fine?
2 quick true stories.
my buddy from chicago comes out to visit me a year and a half ago. he had just got his new iphone and we were goin golphing in north scottsdale. i live in phoenix and it's about a half hour drive to the course. he goes on about everything his new phone can do for almost the entire ride (he couldn't wait to try out his golf gps app....the funnty thing is that any decent course out here has gps on the golf carts). it was nice out and the course was packed so the round was taking about an hour and a half longer than normal. our wives were meeting us for dinner and we were obviously going to be late. anyone who is married knows that if you're going to be late for dinner with the wives then a heads up phone call is a MUST. halfway through the round my buddy asks if he can borrow my phone. i ask "why?" he says "i need to call and let the wife know we're runnin late (i had already texted my wife)." i said "sure, but what's wrong with your new iphone?"    we both knew what was wrong....i just couldn't help but ask the question.
this past winter i go to an az cardinal football game. we get there early and i'm with another friend of mine with an iphone. on the way in he's showing me his cool new cbs sports app that he can use to manage his fantasy team. we are in the same fantasy football league and i'm checking (my env touch....non smart phone) for injury updates (just using the browser). i sub one of my players when i realize he's not playing that day. my buddy asks to borrow my phone. again...."why?" i ask. "i need to see if any of my guys are benched" he says. "what about that app you showed me outside?" he replies "no signal in here."
so maybe i'll always be a few months behind the technology. and maybe other phones on other carriers will be capable of doing a few more things than mine......but my phone will call my wife when i need to. it will browse the web whenever i want. it will send text, email, or MMS messages (and recieve them) whenever i need it to from wherever i may be. i live in AZ and travel all over the state. it is nothing but desert and mountains once you get outside of the city....and i never lose a signal. i have friends on sprint, att, and tmobile that can't do what they want sometimes....IN THE CITY. i prefer to have the best coverage and maybe slightly less superior devices, than superior devices with significantly less coverage that prevents the use of those superior devices. but that's just me.

  • Why are Symbian 'smartphones' not as smart as thei...

I used to have a Nokia 6230i, which I was really pleased with – the operating system (S40) was pretty much a perfected evolution from what I used to have on my 5140, and before that, the 5210. Recently I was offered an 'upgrade' to the 6120 classic, one of the newest Symbian S60 'smartphones' (reasons for quotation marks to follow). I took the 6120, lured mainly by the Nokia Maps application.
Whilst I have been impressed with Nokia Maps and a handful of other applications, I have to say that on the whole the move to Symbian has been a very frustrating one, and now I'm wondering whether I can really be bothered to keep the 6120 just for the sake of a few applications. The worst thing is that in general the OS seems to have taken a step backwards from my old phone – incredible really that Nokia have simply ditched so many of the tweaks that they had perfected with the 6230i (and, I understand, the 6300).
So I've made a list here of ways in which the new phone is actually much worse than the old one. I'm by no means the first one to spot all of these problems, but I thought I'd list all my problems in one place. Until Nokia sorts these out I shall probably ditch the 6120 in favour of a 6300 (I rarely use 3G and never use video calling – it's just too expensive), or maybe a non-Nokia phone altogether. Some of you may not agree with my preferences below, but I think we should at least be given the option to change them ourselves. I've been using the latest firmware (3.83) for the 6120, and some of these may not apply to other S60 phones.
    1. You can't have a shortcut to the Inbox! Surely (maybe after Contacts or New message) this would be the most frequently used shortcut ever? It is totally ridiculous that you have to go through Messaging every time. The list of shortcuts is very poor in general – other obvious ones missing include:
    Active standby – so I could switch it on or off as I need;
    Personalisation – so I don't have to go through the whole Settings tree to get to the options I change most frequently;
    Alarm clock – you shouldn't have to go through Clock, instead you should be able to get straight to 'New quick alarm';
Network settings – so I can turn 3G on and off as I need it.
And yet for some reason Nokia think that we need shortcuts to About product, Welcome, Tutorial, Device Manager and Activation keys – hardly features that you use very often! Also the shortcuts list isn't alphabetical – wouldn't this be the easiest way of finding the shortcuts you want? Basically the whole system of shortcuts needs sorting out – a much better way of doing it would be to have the ability to make shortcuts to anywhere you want in the menu tree (I think this is how Sony Ericssons work?).
    2. Can only have up to 8 shortcuts – 2 on the selection keys and 6 active standby. The old 'Go to' list could have as many shortcuts as you wanted. Why couldn't we have more active standby shortcuts to scroll though? Or a single shortcut to a 'Go to' submenu/grid that we could customise ourselves?
    3. Can't customise Active standby modules – you should be able to remove the calendar and add modules (e.g. Inbox, Contacts) that you use more often (I think you may be able to do this on some other S60 phones?).
    4. Contact searching by last name – when I search for someone's name, I always look by first name. Having additional results show up for last names just means it takes that much longer to find what I'm looking for – we should really be able to turn this off.
    5. Imported contacts put names into last name – most of my contacts are listed by first name only, with a surname only when there are two people with the same first name (surely this is the way most people file their contacts?). So when I import my old contacts, it would make much more sense to import names into the first name. Couldn't it also split two-word names into first name and last name?
    6. No option to turn off startup tone – the 6230i had this, so why now does everyone around me need to know when I turn on my phone?
    7. Can't turn off camera shutter sound – another annoying sound you now can't get rid of, even in Silent mode.
    8. Can't set alarm clock snooze interval – on my old 6230i you could change the snooze time, now I'm stuck with it going off every 5 minutes.
    9. Can no longer snooze with any button – you could do this on the 6230i, but now you have to make sure you hit the right button (and not Stop by mistake). Not so easy when you've barely woken up.
    10. Can't scroll down to text message details – you used to be able to keep scrolling down after a text message to get the details (such as date & time) but now you have to go through yet another annoying menu.
    11. Can't use number shortcuts in Profile list – you used to be able to use the number buttons to shortcut through your list of profiles. For example, I could just hit Power -> 4 to get to my 'Office' profile, but now I have to scroll through the whole list.
    12. Limited number shortcuts in menus – you can only use the numbers on the keypad to shortcut through to a certain depth of menus. For example, within Phone settings you can't use the numbers to navigate the menus any more.
    13. Only time of last call from a caller is shown in missed/received calls – previously you could go into the Missed calls list, select a caller and go to 'Time of call', which would show you when all the calls were from that person. Now if you want to do this you have to go into the Log, find the person you're looking for, and then filter out that number.
    14. Volume button can mute call – previously when you turned the volume down all the way during a call it would go to the lowest voume, useful for when someone is shouting at you down the phone. Now if you do this it mutes the volume entirely, which is a lot less useful (depending on whether you actually need to hear what they're shouting!).
    15. No conversions or calculations from standby mode – on the 6230i you could type a number straight in on the main screen (as you would a phone number) and then go Options -> In domestic to do a currency conversion. No sign of this on the 6120.
    16. No countdown timer or stopwatch – I actually used the countdown timer quite often. Now I have Nokia to blame for my burnt pies. :-(
So come on Nokia, sort it out! Surely it can't be that difficult? And next time, why not pay attention to improvements that have been made so well in other product lines?

    @PsychoMania.
Okay could you please tell me what Nokia phone to buy to get GPS onboard, a 5MP camera with a Xeon flash, Wi-Fi and a decent browser WITHOUT S60? ;-)
Nokia forces S60 onto users these days and you are right, I probably don't need Symbian. You sure could do all of the above WITHOUT Symbian and S60.
I work as a software developer myself and I don't think Symbian is so fantastic. Yes you can make deeper applications that integrate better than a Java-application but at what cost? Bye, bye sandbox and interpreter code.
Take SkyeQuikey. It needs to load forever after every reboot and is very unstable. It refuses to properly work sometimes and seems to be leaking memory (managed code is the way of the future - everyone knows this but S60 does not support it unlike Windows Mobile). In other words: Very close to being useless because stability and speed is essential for me.
Your analogy with Windows is very interesting. Windows DOES the entire basics well (especially Vista) except antivirus - just like S60. But unlike S60, Vista does all its basic features quite good if you ask me. You don’t need to change the basics of what one has come to expect from an OS – Windows Explorer covers even my most Linux-fanatic colleagues needs very well. The basic file explorer in S60 cannot even show complete details for long filenames. But the Music Player can… see the problem?
There is no excuse for not having a properly SMS editor. Windows Mobile has it and is also a fully operating system. Actually EVERY phone has a complete OS and every feature is simply an application but Symbian only differs in being MORE open to the public and 3rd party developers (but still somewhat bound to the hardware unlike Windows XP/Vista).
Consider every feature of the phone to be bundled integrated software. But the problem is that the software is of very low quality. And no 3rd part software can be as good as a 1st part software becuase Symbian is NOT completely open.
    Research??
I did not think that buying a S60 phone meant replacing almost every basic function with something better. And still, nobody has made a complete replacement of the texting system that matches what feature-phones can do. And the worst part is that it is quite possible but either people don't care or the usual Symbian fans don't care about texting. If that is the case then Nokia should stop shipping every feature-rich phone they make, with S60.
According to what they are going to change with FP2, Nokia also seems to be aware of this because their focus is on the UI. But they could have done this long ago. So maybe our critic is not completely wrong?

  • Failure to Sleep... HEAT build up...

    I all,
I have a week 40 macbook 1.83GHz machine. This afternoon I put it to sleep (closed the lid) with a fully charged battery. Upon return from my son's Karate class the book was not sleeping, FANS WERE ROARING, heat was incredible (really really hot!!!... hotter then an MDD without a heat sink), battery was delpleted to 1.5hours (normally holds 4.5 or so). It appears that it failed to go to sleep and remained active with the lid closed (lid was fully closed and "latched"). I have not been able to reproduce this effect.
Is this a common issue with the MBs?
Is this a sign of an ill SMC (PMU)?
Is there a switch in the hinge armature or is it a super magnet like in the old PowerBook G3 Series that is failing?
    Thoughts?
(The book is less then two weeks old... is this a sign of bigger issues? ).

    Hi Adam,
I also had to force it to shut down and... upon reboot had the "unexpected" quit message.
So far my book has not repeated this misadventure (failure to sleep follwed by running with the lid closed and then EXCESSIVE heat and really loud fan spin). I hope it will not do so as it was terrbily alarming. It was scortching hot.
I will watch it for a bit and if it repeats it is going in for service or at least a checkup. I have owned mac laptops for years (150, 165c, PB1400, Wallstreet, Lombard and Pismo... iBook1.33 and now this mac book)... I have never had this happen before with any other book in over 12 yearrs of Mac Laptop useage. I hope it is a "one of" event. I miss my iBook1.33. it was about as fast as this macbook for day to day lite use and it never misbehaved.
    Dave.

    Hi,
Try a new post asking for a site check or a site critique -
    you'll no
doubt get differing advice about best practises on the
    construction -
take what you get objectively, most will be constructive,
    don't be
disheartened and don;t forget it's your client who is the
    person you
    most have to please.
I think it looks great and for a first site - quite
    incredible really -
you seem to have a fairly good grasp on what's going on with
    the code
and (you may get crit for using absolute positioning) you
    also seem to
have a grasp on relative and absolute positioning.
One wee thing I see (sorry don't have time to trouble shoot
    for you) is
a slight layout difference between IE and FF - possibly a
    double margin
bug - a bigger gap between the centre and the right columns!
Oh - and you might want to consolidate your css - shift the
    embedded
    styles to your linked sheet.

  • Best fine tip writing stylus for iPad Air?

I have some apps on my new iPad Air where I can use a stylus to jot notes, etc.  However, all I have is the fat round rubber-type stylus.  One is from Bamboo, the others were gifts.  They are awkward to use for notes, to do lists, etc.  Is there a fine tip stylus that can be used that will not harm my iPad screen?  Any recommendations/suggestions are most appreciated.

Hey! I have been writing (a lot) on my ipad for quite a while now ( a year) so i believe i can give u some tips about styli.
I have checked out all kinds of styli. The worst styli you can find out there are the rubber end ones. Even if they have a fine point they're still incapable. When ur screen or the rubber point is going to be slightly humid then its rubbish. U will need something more solid.
I have bought both Adonit Pro and Adonit Script t different times and tried them out.
I had first started using Adonit Pro. Its incredible really. The only con about it is that if ure not careful with it u can lose the disc, and also u must replace the disc every 3 months or so, depending on the rate ur using it.
I use it every single day and a lot. I do not write on paper, just on my ipad. I study medicine so u could understand i write a lot. It also has a magnet inside, which lets it attach on your ipad smartcase. It really comes in handy trust me.
Then the Script was produced and many styli users went a bit mad about if it was worth it or not etc. I liked the fact that it had no disc. BUT at the end of the day i was dissapointed. I gave it a one month chance. Many cons and few pros.
    Cons:
BATTERY required therefore heavier and u need to buy a battery average every month (not that of a big deal though)
CLICKING NOISE. if ur in a coffee shop or something like that its perfectly fine. But if ure in the library then its a pain in the *** believe me. Everyones going to be ****** at u
IPAD ORIENTATION ISSUES. If ure writing on a vertically orientated ipad then the styli works great. If its horizontally then the stylus tends to write about 1-2mm inferiorly to your tip. I tried to get used it but just couldnt. After going back to my Adonit Pro i realised i was suffocating with the Adonit Script.
    TOO EXPENSIVE.
Conclusion: I vehemently reccomend Adonit Pro.
ps1. i have nothing to do with Adonit. Just trying to help!
ps2. ill send u some pictures of my work so u get the idea of how writing with the Adonit Pro is. My writing is exactly the same when i write on paper

  • HTC Incredible--need REALLY LOUD notification tone

For when text messages come in.  I'm a new Incredible owner, first smartphone, and I'm old, so be nice :-)  I've tried out the various tones on the phone over the past week, but I keep not hearing the notification when a text arrives unless I am holding the phone in my hand (so, not when it's in my purse, my coat pocket, on the seat next to me in the car, etc.)  I do have the volume slider bar as loud as it will go.  Can anyone point me to a tone that's LOUD?  I'm guessing something is available in Market? I don't care what the tone is so long as it's not something obnoxious or obscene.  Thank you for any help!

there's an app called zedge. i use it for ringtones and text tones. i got the one that the motorolas have. it yells "DROID" at me and is pretty loud (my wife actually hates it it is so much louder than the other tones...lol). download zedge and you can preview MANY tones. when you find one you like you can choose to download it and select it as your tone. keep in mind that these are tones people have shared so there may be multiple files of essentially the same tone. some may make the same sound, but be louder. i also use an app called "missed call" that let's me customize the tones and reminders a bit further than just the phone. so now when i get a text, it says "droid" and vibrates at the same time. it then continues to vibrate every couple of minutes until i feel it in my pocket (i also have i hard time feeling it vibrate OR hearing it when it's in a loose pocket).

  • End of Upgrade Cycle for CS3 and CS4... Really Adobe?

As if business wasn't bad enough now I see there will be no upgrade paths past december for CS3 and 4 users. Is this how Adobe plans to keep users away from stopping their upgrades and reducing the number of machines they run Adobe products on? I understand Adobe is not a non-profit and has has to turn a revenue, but the geniuses at Marketing here have made a huge mistake by basically telling their customers that what they have so far will be worth zilch in comes 2013. That arbitrary deadline, is not consider some people who on the east coast are now cash strapped as anyone having to choose between home repairs and other such marvelous stuff and upgrading to CS6 guess what they'll choose. And for the lucky ones not heavily affected by the storms, they will donate to help their community before they will spend money to upgrade perfectly good software.
It wasn't enough that the upgrade path wasn't much of a discount, but in the current economy every penny counts! The choice of stopping support for CS3 and CS4 in my personal opinion an ill-advised move. I personally went from 3 to 4 within a short amount of time... then when 5 came out my budget didn't allow so I needed to wait. The new CS6 isn't direly needed so I decided I'd have to loose some additional "upgrade power" because money need to be directed elsewhere now... but the news that I'd loose all the upgrade power and would have kept on upgrading for nothing it's just ridiculous... and if that's the treatment a customer will have to expect from now on I think I'll use what I have and move to alternatives stopping to personally support Adobe products an rely on licensed copies at work instead. Perhaps Adobe hasn't notices we aren't exactly doing that great in US between the current economical situation, the various setbacks experienced across the country and for the fact that in this particular business most work is often being outsourced out of US these days... I am sure you will have a huge market on the countries where the outsourced work is being sent... as far as I am concerned comes 12/31/2013 I will no longer be an Adobe customer as Adobe is forcing me out of the upgrade cycle and I won't plan to re-enter anytime soon in the coming future... lesson learnt.
Thank you for your time (if any of the marketing gurus will have cared to read this far without laughing and discounting with a "screw those old customers, they should've upgraded earlier" which was basically the content of the email I got this week... pasted below)
    Cheers,
    tfbkny
Content of email received from Adobe saying last chance to upgrade now or what you got will be worthless in less than a couple months.
    Dear Creative Suite customer:
We want to make sure you're aware of an important change to Adobe's upgrade policy that may affect you.
Beginning January 1, 2013, only Creative Suite customers with licenses for CS5 or CS5.5 versions will qualify for upgrade pricing to CS6.
Due to this change, we will only continue offering CS3 and CS4 customers like you special upgrade pricing through December 31, 2012.*
    * Owners of CS3 and CS4 individual products and suite editions will be eligible to receive upgrade pricing to CS6 until December 31, 2012. After that date, only customers on CS5 or CS5.5 will qualify for upgrade pricing to CS6.

Adobe doesn't care, they don't have to. I like Phsotoshop and have been using it professionally for 20 years, but lets face it, I wouldnt mind some really good competition from another source. It didnt use to be the only game in town, and doesnt have to remain so.
I could brainstorm how I would want competing software to look like. Pshop is not the easiest workflow possible. Illustrator is clearly deficient to even CorelDraw, and certainly Freehand. I've been meaning to reconnect with CorelDraw. It did some cool things.
Google Chrome is pulling a lot of manoevers software wise and I hope they try to go a little deeper and give Adobe a run for their money on the one program they feel justifies unbelievable gouging. Go investigate Ableton Live if you want to see what a company that cares about its customers is doing, ADOBE. Audition is a JOKE compared to Ableton Live. Thank God we're not powned on the audio side by these suits.
The idea that a company would peddle buggy software, which CS4 was..., although some of that was Apple's fault, is bad, the upgrade prices were ridiculous, and this is the end of the road for me currently. The idea that a company would actively
push away customers is pretty incredible. "But I sent you an email!" Whoops, you gotta pay $1900 for production premium CS6! HAHAHAHAHA. Time for a YT video with my old hard copy box. Sounds like a good idea.
There are too many options on the motion graphics side, and I'll keep a static machine to run Pshop and AE CS4.
The masters of the universe will have theit way, and the rest must bow to their ambivalent greed. At least that's the way they think. It would seem that Adobe and Apple really, really want some upstarts to come up. Maybe $360 for a year to figure out an exit might work. It will be interesting to see if this hits earnings. VERY interesting.

  • Trouble getting "back to my mac" to work on new Air - and really need this functionality

This is sort of one of those "asked and answered" threads, but I wanted to share my solution. I love being able to see my other computers remotely. I don't think Apple sells the functionality of remote desktop enough. I have a laptop and I also run to mini servers, one at work, and one at home. When I first got "back to my mac" working with my Apple ID on all three computers I thought I had died and went to heaven. With fast internet access this is really incredible - able to move files back and forth and see different things - even run things like media encoding on another computer so my laptop is not slowed down.
But when I bought a new Air a couple of weeks ago I ran into a problem. I had done everything right. Each computer allows login with my Apple ID and all the sharing was turned on properly - remember, I was doing this with my previous Macbook Pro just fine.
But everytime I would click on the remote computer in finder, finder would just quit and restart. Weird. Crash and then restart of finder.
So I've been fighting with it.
Then I discovered I could click on "All" in the sidebar (to see all networked computers and servers). Then if I right-clicked on the server that showed up in the list in the main window of "All" I could choose a "connect as" and get it to work. Now it works regardless even if I double-click right on the icon of the remote server in the sidebar.
If you followed all of that, it could help you. If you're not using this "remote desktop feature, you should.

  • My humble opinion about Droid X vs Droid Incredible

I had a chance to try out a Droid Incredibile for three days. I prefer the Droid X for several reasons:
On the X I can place any phone contact on any screen and use either a widget or an apps. With the Incredible you are limited to "favorites" only and limited to nine. I see no way to set up another "favorite" on another screen..
You are limited to what widgets you can set up on your Incredible. It must be a completely blank screen or else such widgets as FM radio will not go on.
Sadly, the Incredible does not have Swype, which I use all the time on my X.
You can not set up vibration only for notifications.  You can only wake up your Incredible by tapping the power button, with the Droid, you can also tap the home button to wake it up.
Finally, On the X, if you are on the very left screen and wish to go to the very right screen, you swipe and tap on the three buttons and your there. On the Incredible, you must swipe the whole way.
None of these are very big deals, I grant you. But they are minor irritants
Oh, don't get me wrong, there are things I wish the X could do like the Incredible. For example, the lock bar is so much easier on the Incredible to open up. The manner in which you delete a widget/apps from the screen is so much more easier on the Incredible than on the X.
As far as bars, and this IS a big deal. With the X I get 3g and four bars at home. with the Incredible, I get 3g and only two bars. Gladly, it doesn't interfere with calling or talking.

You can place shortcuts on any screen to about anything, including a contact. You don't have to use the Favorites widget.
Only a few widgets are full screen size. Some of them offer two different sizes.
You can get the Swype beta for Incredible.
Vibration only for notifications: Goto Volume in Sound Settings and turn the volume all the way down for notifications. Make sure the Vibrate option is on.
Wake up button: Correct, and I like that way. The "home button" or any other front button is too easily pressed while in a holdster or pocket.
Moving to another screen: Pinch zoom any home screen to see minature versions of all screens to pick from.
Besides the above, is there anything else you like better on the X? How does the camera and camcorder operation compare? And the resulting photos/video? Does the size of the screen really make a difference? I'm asking because I just got the Incredible, but have 30 days to switch to the X if I want.

  • R.I.P Desktop Charging Cradle for the HTC Incredible

    Verizon, Is this true???
    http://htcpedia.com/news/htc-incredible-desktop-charging-cradle.html
People want a desktop charging cradle for their phones. Why can one not be produced? A lot of us purchased the phones under the assumption that a dock was being produced. Are you going to allow Incredible owners to exchange their device for Droid X's? You can't get any manufacture to produce a dock that can charge? I really don't think people care THAT much if the home screen doesn't auto rotate. If the clock application is launched it works fine in landscape or you mean a dock that works in portrait isn't possible?????

no doubt!!!! check this one for another device:
    http://www.fommy.com/view-full-page.asp?divid=HTC&cat=Cradles&skuno=80604
how difficult would it really be for them to just place the micro usb plug slightly lower to fit the inc? i love this cradle if the could duplicate it to fit the inc. it can't be that tough to do. and with minor tweaks you could lay it on it's side for landscape. it would be perfect....postrait AND landscape AND it has a slot underneath for an extra battery. the manufaturer would have a gold mine because they'd be the ONLY ones with anything to sell us!!!!

  • Browsers, some apps keep quitting on Droid Incredible. Ideas before I reset phone?

In the last month or so, my Droid Incredible has developed a really annoying problem. My full-featured web browsers (including Dolphin HD, and the stock "internet") won't run. They quit seconds after launched.
Is anyone else seeing this problem? Know what's causing it? I know app conflicts can be very user-specific, but ya never know...
Opera Mini runs reliably, and Dolphin mini runs sometimes (but quits more often than it runs). So I am able to browse the web. But Opera Mini doesn't support "share page" functionality (via e-mail, bookmarklets, etc.), which is something I rely on heavily and am no longer willing to do without on a phone I'm paying $110/month for.
In addition, some apps I really like (including AppBrain and Shazam) also are quitting seconds after launch.
I've uninstalled all apps that I'm not using. I also uninstalled and reinstalled Dolphin HD and Mini, as well as the other apps that have ceased running. I've done the battery pull twice, and have also cleared the cache on most of my apps. I deleted a bunch of media files to free up space. No dice.
I'm at the point where I'm going to have to start uninstalling the apps that I'm using. I'm very reluctant to do this, since I just had to go through this tedious exercise a couple of months ago to correct a different problem. And if it is an app conflict, then I'm wondering whether backing up the apps to the SD card, resetting the phone, and restoring them would solve the problem. I mean, if I'm restoring the same apps, wouldn't it be likely that I'd have the same conflict problem?
My phone is not rooted, and I don't want to root it.
Can anyone suggest something else I might do short of uninstalling all my apps and doing a factory reset to try to fix this problem?
    Thanks.

I have the same exact problem, I pretty much can't even use my internet function with this phone. it always freezes and quits in the middle of anything. I'm kind of thinking it's a glitch with this phone unfortunately, I have a few friends who also have the same bad droid luck with the internet or any applications running properly. I'm wondering if a few of the phones just need to be re-called with the Droid HTC Incredible model. I'm paying for the internet service and wish I was just back to my simple LG phone with the 39.99 a month bill, that's about the quality of service I'm getting.
I wish I had better information for you, but I guess you can just re-set and delete all your applications over and over again like Verizon suggests. I'm tired and don't want to even bother at this point.  I want my money back for the internet service I don't get, very bummed indeed...

  • Need help, really mad!!!

So my Incredible decided to shut itself down today and when I turned it back on, all my contacts and apps were gone!! It was basically back to factory reset! When I go onto the market to try and see if I can retrieve some of my apps, or anything really, I get an error and it needs to be force closed!! What the hell happened and can anyone help me???

  • Droid Incredible 2 Speakers ...

Has anyone found that using the speaker mode on the phone pretty much makes it easier for you to hear the conversation, but makes it almost impossible for the person on the other end of the conversation to understand you?
That seems common for me, my Droid Incredible 2, and .
    Perhaps mine is a lemon?
    -Brian

quite frankly, it sounds bad. do you store everything on the phone's internal memory? you don't have an sd card? i REALLY hope they can help you. however, (and i know this doesn't help you now) in the future, if you go into the camera settings, you can have all of your pics saved to the sd card. also, you can either sync your account with google or backup assistant (you may have your contacts in one of these places already, and didn't even realize it). if you have been using the sd card for all of this, then there is nothing to worry about, as a factory reset will only wipe the phone. it does not wipe the sd card. if you have been using an sd card, take it out now. you can at least salvage whatever is on it.

  • Incredible 4G wont turn on.

I've had my incredible for about a month and now it wont turn on or charge all the way. If I hold the power button it will vibrate and thats about it. I changed the battery and the button lights lit, but still didn't charge right or turn on. Please help, thanks in advance.

I'm really sorry to hear about the problems you're having with your phone, santanaotf. I know how important it is to have a working phone. After reading your description, it sounds like you have a device that has faulty display. If there is no physical damage, and if your phone is still under warranty we will replace it for no cost. Our 4th incredible 2 will not charge. We had one battery and two phones replaced & now it has happened again!!! I would call but no tech after 11 pm. I do NOT recommend this phone but do give Verizon credit for making it right so far - we will see if they will make it right the fourth time. Really disappointing = FOUR times?????? Three different phones????? All approved chargers.
