Incremental Export using EXP Command

Hi all,
I am trying to get incremental backup using oracle 9i "Exp" command. But this backup is being taken full of table data where changes made. Actually incremental backup should take a backup only the data last changes made.
Please help me, how can I take the real incremental backup using exp command.
Thanks
Khalil

should take a backup only the data last changes made.In order to be able to do that, Oracle would have to track rows that have changed since the last export. Think of a database with few hundred to a few thousand tables and tables with tens to tens-of-million rows.
In a table, a single column in a single row may have been updated.
However, in another table 40 columns in 3million rows may have been updated since the last export.
In another table, some rows might be deleted. (how would "incremental" compute the difference between "there were 1000 rows yesterday, there are 942 rows today")
In a fourth table, 3million rows have been inserted since the last export.
Can you conceive of the scale of "tracking" that Oracle would have to do if you want "only the last changes" to be exported ? Next, how would you "merge" data from two exports when you import them -- e.g. if the non-primarykey columns have been updated ; or primarykey has been updated ; or the table has no primarykey ?
The only way an "Incremental" change can be identified is by tracking if any change (whether 1 columm in 1 row or all the columns in all the rows) has been made to the table since the last export. If a single byte has been changed in the table, the whole table will be exported.
Are you sure you were able to use Incremental Export in 9i ? Incremental Export is documented in 8.1.7 but hasn't appeared in the 9.2 documentation.
The 8.1.7 documentation says "+An incremental Export backs up only tables that have changed since the last incremental, cumulative, or complete Export. An incremental Export exports the table definition and all its data, *not just the changed rows*. Typically, you perform incremental Exports more often than cumulative or complete Exports.+ "
Oracle had announced the end of Error Correction Support for the Incremental Export effective 31-Dec-1999. It ended Extended Assistance Support 31-Dec-2002. See Oracle Note#170483.1 on the support site.

  • Read the .dmp file exported using exp

    Hi,
    Could anyone tell me what option in imp i can use to just read or check whether schema that i am expecting exists in the .dmp file (exported using exp) or not before importing into the database. Also is there any option in the imp to search for the table in the entire dump file? Please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Nagarjun.

    Hi,
    In the import command, You can give Show=y and log file option. Show =y will run the import command but will not import anything and will create a log file that will contain all the statements in the sequence which will be executed when import is done. In that import file you can look for tables and schema what ever you want.

  • Exporting using exp and TRIGGERS=N doesn't  work

    Exporting using exp on version Export: Release 8.1.6.0.0 - with the option TRIGGERS=N stills exports with triggers. is it a bug ?
    Any sugesttions ?

    This is actually a known behaviour.
    As of table level export, all the dependent objects are exported and is expected namely, indexes, constraints, triggers... and even restricting with other parameters set to n will not disable their export.
    As of schema level export, the whole schema is exported and with this we can pose our restrictions like no constraints, no rows, no indexes, no triggers etc.. which will work because we have control.
    For table level export we dont have control on individual objects. 10g solves your problem.

  • How can we take the incremental export using the datapump at schema level.

    Hi,
    How can we take the incremental export using the datapump at schema level. Example, today i had taken the full export of one schema.
    After 7 days from now , how can i take the export of change data , from the data of my full export.
    using the export datapump parameter - FLASHBACK_TIME ,can we mention the date range. Example sysdate - (sysdate -7)
    Please advice
    thanks
    Naveen.

    Think of the Data Pump Export/Import tools as taking a "picture" or "snapshot."
    When you use these utilities it exports the data as it appears (by default) while it's doing the export operation. There is no way to export a delta in comparison to a previous export.
    The FLASHBACK_TIME parameter allows you to get a consistent export as of a particular point in time.
    I recommend you go to http://tahiti.oracle.com. Click on your version and go to the Utilities Guide. This is where all the information on Data Pump is located and should answer a lot of your questions.

  • Biar Export using Biar Command line tool

    Hi All,
    I am trying to export biar file using the biar command line tool for that i have written a .properties file and running that using the batch file , Here are the contents -
    Biarexport.properties -
    exportBiarLocation=C:/work/biartest/level.biar
    action=exportXML
    userName=E372019
    password=welcome9
    CMS=tss0s108:6800
    authentication=secEnterprise
    includeSecurity=true
    exportDependencies=true
    exportQuery= Select * from ci_infoobjects where si_kind in ('CrystalReport','Folder') and si_name='Air Travel Activity' and SI_INSTANCE = 0
    and running the above .properties file using below command u2013
    cd C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Common\4.0\java\lib
    java -jar biarengine.jar C:\work\biartest\biarexport.properties
    I get the biar file created on the given folder but if I compare itu2019s size(261KB) with the biar which I create manually from the Import Wizard(35 KB) , then comparatively it is bigger. It seems biar has every instance.
    This increases the file size unnecessary since we do not need the instances in the BIAR, just the report and the dependent repository objects.
    Need your assistance on this issue!
    Thanks for your help!
    Kanchan

    I would suggest creating a case with support to go over this, you should have a support agreement since you have the Enterprise product.

  • Using exp dump file, how to know schema/tablespace/database/table....

    Hi
    I have export dump file. I don't have any information other then that about the dumpfile.
    1. How do I know what version of exp was used(or database version)?
    2. what does the exp contain, whether it is table/schema/tablespace/database level export?
    3. Is it possible that I can used impdp command to export a file which was exported using "exp" command?

    1. Sorry for my ignorance but in first case how do I know if i have to use "imp or impdp".
    As discussed in the above mentioned thread strings might reveal something but not sure. Otherwise you can always confirm by trying to run it.
    And assuming that if I imported the dump(using trial and error rule), how do I know what level of export was the dump file created... ie
    how do I know the present object(object imported in target) was belonging to which tablespace and schema in source database(question 2 of "Sidhu")?
    When you will import it back in a new database, everything will be same as the original database. All objects will belong to their respective tablespaces,schemas blah blah...(where they were in the original database).

  • How to export datbase with exp command

    Hi guys,
    How to export oracle database using exp command without including tables space names.
    I tried with this
    ./exp username/password file=db-export.dmp
    ./imp username/password file=db-export.dmp full=y ignore=y
    But when I try to import database with separate login(username/password) its giving following error for some tables,
    ORA-00959: tablespace 'MANUJA' does not exist
    MANUJA is my username of first database
    any help ?
    Thanks
    Best Regards,
    Manuja

    Option 1:
    ./imp username/password file=db-export.dmp full=y
    If still error then :
    Option 2:
    pre-create your table then import with ignore=y option.
    If still error then :
    make sure userB just have one default tablespace (BC) and quota only on BC. So if you have unlimited quota for userB on all tablespaces, then objects will go to original tablespace and not the tablespace you want to put in(to default tablespace).
    Revoke any unlimited tablespace privs from userB and just have one default tablespace.
    REVOKE UNLIMITED TABLESPACE FROM USERB;
    imp system/manager fromUser=userA toUser=userA file=myexport.dmp log=myexport.log

  • Export Using Compressor from FCP fails every time

    When I try to use the File>Export>Using Compressor command in FC Studio 2, everything seems normal until I submit the batch. But the job fails every time.
    I get the following message: "Processing service request error: Final Cut Pro.app generated an error or unexpectedly quitUser aborted Media Server".
    I've gone through all the discussion stuff on how Compressor needs to be reinstalled and all that. That's not my problem here. Compressor will work fine if I use it standing alone. It's only if I try to use the FCP export that this problem occurs.

    Compressor works fine as a stand alone when I import a Quicktime file. However, if I try to export a suquence directly from FCP, it gives me a message "File Error: A file of this name already exists". If I press okay it exports it to Compressor which gives me a message, "Can't preview movie Final Cup Pro App is busy".
    Then when I go ahead and load the output settings into compressor ( actual compressor window shows the sequence as being loaded) it starts to render and then it stops with the following message logged
    "Name: MPEG-2 6.2Mbps 2-pass
    Time Elapsed: 0:00:00
    Time Remaining: 0:00:00
    Percent Complete: 100
    Status: Failed - Final Cut Pro.app generated an error or unexpectedly quitUser aborted Media Server"
    Any ideas what the problem might be?
    I am using a Mac Pro 8 core with 9gigs of ram and running tiger 10.4.10 and this is FCP Studio 2

  • Does Motion Filtering setting affect Export Using Compressor?

    Hello!
    Can anyone tell me if my Motion Filtering setting in the video processing tab of my sequence settings has any effect on the ultimate quality of my export when using the "Export Using Compressor" command? I know it certainly would when exporting to Quicktime, but I'm wondering if it matters if I'm going directly to Compressor. I am sending a completely unrendered sequence.
    Thanks!
    Cameron

    Don't feel too bad. None of us can match what the big guys do with our software encoders and burners.
    They have the advantage of very expensive encoding hardware/software. They have tons of technical expertise (the so called black art of encoding). And they are working with source material that is expertly lighted, shot and graded. Then they physically stamp their disks, rather than relying on dyes.
    It's not a fair fight.
    But we can do a very decent job using FCP and/or Compressor and/or DVD Studio Pro and/or iDVD.  (I've seen – and made myself – some great looking DVDs by simply taking a ProRes 422 file into iDVD and choosing Professional Quality.)
    I always start with a Pro Res master file – either 422 or HQ, depending on the original material. When possible the frame rate and size are the same as what was shot.
    A Compressor>Create DVD or Compressor >DVD Studio Pro can produce superior results because you have more control over the process. Starting with the DVD stock preset, you adjust as necessary – bit rate and sometimes Frame Controls. So, for example, using Frame Controls you could reduce the chances of introducing artifacts in the down-convert from HD to SD by turning on the Resize Filter.
    Open up the Preview window. Set in and out points to encode a manageable length test file with he stock settings. Burn a test DVD directly from Compressor using a DVD-RW disk. If you like it, great. Make a disk image (select HD as output device in Job Actions) and burn. Or if you want better menus, use Toast,
    We're seeing less and less interlaced footage these days, but if working with a video intended for the Web or computer display, the video should be de-interlaced – again, in Frame Controls.
    Finally, buy good media like Verbatim.
    Good luck.

  • Export 50K tables using exp/expdp command

    Hi,
    I am trying to export around 52,000 tables using parfile in oracle 10g/Solaris machine.
    But I am not able to do that....
    IS there a limitation to specify for the number of tables in a parfile ??? If so, how much..
    I get the error "LRM-00116: syntax error at <table_name> followed by <table_name>
    If I split the tables counts, I am able to export using the same parfile.....
    I have used both exp and expdp...but get the same error...
    Pleas help...

    I assume your version is 10gr2
    when I checked the docs I can see there is no table count limitation.
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14215/dp_export.htm#sthref165
    see "Restrictions" section.
    Double check your table name list please.
    I would try to use wildcards in TABLES definition or I would export full SCHEMAS.

    You can try to bump streams_pool_size to 100M if your current setting is below that.

  • Export/Import-SPSIte :- What is the max size limit that can be moved using this command??

    Export/Import-SPSIte :- What is the max size that can be moved using this command??

    I assume you ment Export-SPWeb not Export-SPSite command.
    There is no known limitations in file size, except the compression file size that is set to 24MB by default. If you exceed 24MB, the cmp file will be splitted into several files. You can change the default 24MB value up to 1024MB, using the -compressionsize
    parameter.

    Please help me on how to do this export. Thanks in advance.

    As you can see in this forum: the so called "old export utility" is much better than NEW expdp if we want dump files on client machines. Here is my reply to one post similar to your one:
    Data pump export can only generate dump files on the server. And I am a client, and want dump files on my machine. I even don't have access to server file system, it is in a different city and only DBAs have access to it.
    (Please see my questions and their replies, about Expdp and Impdp in this forum, which were posted just a short while ago today. It clearly confirms that Expdp is of no use for dumping files on client computers)
