IND780 Intergration with SAP MII

Hi Experts,
Greetings.
previously,I have done integration with MES system but i have a new requirement to Integrate Mettler Toledo IND 780 with Ethernet/IP communication.
I have visited the plant and this is the process they follow.
They have connected the Terminal to a PC and they send orders to the Terminal by uploading the excel file to a batch program and retrieving data to excel file by connecting to terminal.
I have gone through the blogs have know that Mettler Toledo IND780 uses SQL CE database to store data.
Can SAP MII directly connect to SQL CE database which is embedded in Mettler Toledo IND780 for data querying ?
Please guide me
Appreciate your help
Goutham

Hi Goutham,
According to the documentation available from Mettler Toldedo, the option to implement Ethernet/IP also includes the option to implement Modbus TCP.  You can use Modbus TCP with an OPC Server that provides a Modbus TCP driver (Kepware or MatrikonOPC both have this).   SAP Plant Connectivity (PCo), and SAP MII are the SAP components needed to integrate the scale and the OPC Server to SAP MES or ERP systems.
Another option would be to implement the communications via the scale Serial Port if present. This would require an external Hardware Serial-Ethernet server to put the serial port on the plant network, and then PCo and MII for the SAP integration components.  there is an internal Ethernet port on the IND780 main board, but I did not investigate whether you can communicate with the scale using the same protocols as the serial port, If this is possible, then the Hardware Serial-Ethernet server is not required.
Either solution will require detailed knowledge of the communication protocols to determine the OPC Server,  PCo and MII configuration, and MII transaction requirements, to implement the interface.
I would recommend against trying to directly attach to the SQL CE database on the scale.

  • Seimens HMI Integration with SAP MII

    Dear MII Experts,
We are trying to integrate shop floor systems with SAP MII for discrete manufacturing industry.
I came across the client has 70+ machines in the plant .the vendor is "DMG"
Seimens HMI is installed on each machine .
What are the possible ways here to connect to PLC from MII
I am very new to this integration part .
Can MII directly connect to Seimens HMI .
I am very new to this area , client is ready to pay extra cost for any extra interfaces .
Please suggest me the architecture to follow .
Please give me a detailed explanation here , please correct me if I my explanation is wrong here
Please reply me for any other clarification

    Hi Eswaraiah,
To access the PLC data in MII, you would need couple of things more.
    1. OPC Server where the PLC stores the data.
    2. PCo (SAP Plant Connectivity) that can read the data from OPC Server and send the data to MII for manipulation.
From PCo MII can read the data and you can then perform your business logic. Also, PCo has built-in notification settings which can trigger MII's transactions based upon some conditions.
So I believe, your landscape would look like
Siemens HMI --> OPC Server  -> PCo --> MII

  • Issue with SAP MII Batch RDS

    Hi
We are deploying the SAP MII Batch manufacturing Rapid deployment solution. After deploying the package and  setting up all the config guide, we have following concerns.
    1. The orders are coming in operator dashboard but can not see work instructions (PI sheets contents).
    2. Also , in the confirmation screen , can't pull the orders. It is always coming 0 even the records are there.
    3. The data which is supplied with package is in German format. Is this OK  or  have data in English as well.
    4. Have deployed the package on oracle database so  have issue converting some of the SQL server data into oracle.Means we have to convert script into Oracle scripts and hence some statements through errors and all the master data in the table is not updated.
    5. We are using plant name as PL99 instead of 1000 , will this have any issue.
Any kind of help is appreciated.

Hi Satish, I moved your thread to the "SAP Business One" Forum since it does better fit there (now that we have it on SDN).

    Hi Satish,
If you have any issue regarding the addon outlook toolbar, check <a href="https://websmp106.sap-ag.de/~form/handler?_APP=01100107900000000342&_EVENT=REDIR&_NNUM=801964">this note</a>.

  • Amazon Intergration with SAP.

    Hello Colleagues,
We have a customer here in China and they requested information weather it is possible to use Amazon for web commerce.
    Infinitus (China) Company Ltd (http://www.infinitus.my)
HEALTH CARE Products (vitamins/Soy/Yin and Yang Essence etc)
    Skin Care Products
    Personal Care Products
    Home Care Products
They sell products like the ones listed above and they want to sell their products using a 3rd party web-site (which is well known) such as Amazon. They then want to use SAP as a backend system to perform order creation/delivery/shipping. They do not want to implement SAP E-Commerce B2C and build their own web-site as they believe that it would be too small and not reach the market they want to penetrate.
Is this even possible? If not, is it possible to develop an enhancement?
Any information would be greatly appriciated.
    Regards, Peter O'Neill

We have interfaced with several of our customers web sites and automatically create customer sales orders, purchase orders and other documents. No e-commerce solution is necessary. If you would like to discuss this please contact me

  • CRM ABAP development and interaction with SAP R/3

    Hi Experts,
I am an ABAPer and have close to 3 years of development experience in ABAP, now i was trying to understand how exactly a CRM system is intergrated with SAP R/3 . Below are few of the basic question i have
    1. How does R/3 interact with CRM, searching in the forum i just got to know its through RFC . Can anyone give me specific technical details like how R/3 and CRM interact in a real time scenario .
    2. Ca any one also give me an real time development example that was done in CRM to interact with SAP R/3 and explain me the basic steps involved in it, this might give me clear picture of how developments happen in CRM and also how CRM and SAP interacts with each other .
Your quick response would be greatly appreciated .
    Regard's
    Sudheer V

with repect to programming , it is similar to R/3 ABAP devlopment . It all depends on scenarios:
    1) For eaxmple we use BADI's to put some extra validations / additional data when you are creation order
    2) unlike R/3 where we use SAP GUI trnsactions for creating orders, in CRM we have IC web client techonolgy where we can create orders through web. This is based on BSP technology. In order to add additinal fields on the screen for we use easy enhancment workbench tool(EEWB).this is something new in CRM when compared to R/3.

  • Two new sample applications based on SAP MII available on SDN

I am glad to inform everyone that the following new SAP MII based sample applications have been release on SDN:
    1. Plant Data Collection(PDC) of Production Confirmation for shop floor operators:
This application is designed to provide shop-floor operators a simple, intuitive and effective web-based user interface on a touch screen to enter the production performance easily and effectively. It comes with the capabilities to perform time-event production confirmation for both Production and Process Orders and the administrator can choose between two user-management modes for operators.
To download this application and its documentation goto:
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/manufacturing-tools > Touch Screen Plant Data Collection (PDC) Project and Configuration Files
    2. Quality Control with SAP MII (Using SOA) :
This represents an excellent show case for the ES bundle "Integration of QM Systems" which we have already delivered. You can use the content to support quality inspection and quality control along the supply chain. This application provides a lean user interface (UI) to retrieve, enter, and display the inspection results on the shop floor using the SAP enterprise services.
To download this application and its documentation goto:

For any query, feedback or clarifications please feel free to contact me through my business card.

    Hello Srinivasa
The Webservices configuration doc was not part of this project. But we are developing a kind of document for the field to know more about ES . It will be available by April 1 st week ( approx ) . Will update you later.

  • SAP MII 11.5 Compatibility with ECC6

We are currently using xMII 11.5.6 with SAP 4.7.  We are upgrading to ECC6 in the next few months.  Are there any compatiblity issues that we need to watch for in this upgrade?  We are using the IDOC Listener and JCO interfaces in our Business Logic Transactions.
We also have some Webservices which use the SAP .Net Connector.

Hi Karen - as long as the BAPI's / RFC's produce the same Request/Response XML when called from MII it should be no different than before.  Of course you will still probably be testing things accordingly, but the xml exchanges between MII and R/3 should be the same.

  • Performance issue with custom IDOC download into SAP MII

    Hi,
We have a custom IDOC which has ten fields. We take the data from these ten fields and insert into database. The issue is
we have some where around 4500 idocs flowing into SAP MII and then from SAP MII to sql database. The time taken for these idocs is around 30 mins.
Is there a way where we can improve the performance in terms of time taken?
    Additional information is
MaxReaderThreadCount has been set to 5 in Configuration Management -> Infrastructure -> Application Resources
    sample idoc structure
    <IDOCNAME>
      <FIELD1>val1</FIELD1>
    <FIELD10>val2</FIELD10>
    </IDOCNAME>
Please let us know if more information is needed.
    Regards,
    Manish Jain

    Hi Manish,
My thinking about the queuing is that for each transaction, you are calling your database and passing in the IDoc content.  Depending upon your system, database, transactions, etc., you may be having to establish a connection between MII and the database each time you process an IDoc.  Each "handshake" takes a finite amount of time.  So queuing up the IDocs, establishing a single DB connection and processing large numbers of IDocs in a batch might reduce your processing time substantially.  Something worth investigating.
I don't think that adding additional IDoc Listeners for different IDoc types will work if the source ECC system is the same for each type.  It will simply use the first one it finds and process all the types there.
Additional threads may improve performance and is certainly a low risk, easily implemented test.  Just do it in small increments as you can add too many threads (check with the NW administrator) and lock up your NW system.
And you may want to check with your DBA to see if there are limits on the connections which MII can establish for uploading the IDoc content (or for that matter, any other improvements to be made on the DB side).

    Mike

  • Developer Denied Permissions to Open SAP MII Workbench even with permission

    Hello,
I have recently added a developer with the following permissions in UME:
    SAP_XMII_Super_Administrator
    SAP_XMII_Administrator
    SAP_XMII_Developer
    SAP_XMII_User
We are using SAP MII 12.1 Patch 6 (build 96).  Netweaver 7.1.  We are using Windows Vista for OS and Internet Explorer 7 for our browser (even has the Java Plug-in disabled).  We are using Java 6 version 20 for our JRE.
He can see the MII homepage and can navigate to Data Services -> SAP MII Workbench. However, when he clicks the link, he gets an authentication dialog box with the following following fields:
    SAP MII Server Name: ______________________________
Port:  53000 (which I find odd that it initially is set to 53000 when he experiences this problem;  our port is 50000)
    User name: __________________________
    Password: ________________________
He enters the information correctly (even sets the port to the correct setting which is 50000) and he gets the following error:  Connection refused:  connect
He can activate the workbench on my machine (I believe our labtops are analogous) so that leads me to believe he might have a conflicting process.  Any help/suggestions would be great!
    Thanks
    Aaron

I have encountered the same error in the past.  It results from blocking the Java components.
After launching the Workbench, I get a Warning pop-up with the message that "Java has discovered application components that could indicate a security concern". The warning then asks if I want to block the components.  In my haste I never read the warning and kept clicking on "Yes" which leads to the exact same result you encountered.
The solution for me was to click "No" and allow the component to run.

    Hi,
re-check if the 7.4 system is correctly registered in the solman SLD system.
Re-check LMDB definition for your 7.4 as JAVA system. you have to manually created the Product system. Ensure all the Component and definitions are correct.
Also do a verrification run within the LMDB. This will confirm whether all the information is correctly defined.
Please note - SLD -> LMDB -> SMSY.
So, if the first 2 don't have the correct information, you wont have much joy with smsy.

1)In case of SAP CRM alone:
As per my knowledge, we can do as follows.if wrong suggest me.
    a) We can send SMS via HTTP node, but we cannot receive it.
    b) We can send and receive SMS via SMTP.
2)In case of SAP CRM integrated with BCM.
is it possible to send/receive SMS via HTTP? If not how can we achieve?

  • How to log in to SAP MII by using a custom xApp?

    Hi there,
I'm developing a custom xApp with a context root of /mycustomapp
I use some security contraints for it so the user has to log in to view the xApp.
As I use some MII services the user has to be logged in to SAP MII, too. However, logging in to SAP NetWeaver doesn't automatically sign in the user to SAP MII, too.
    Is it possible at all?
Accessing /mycustomapp leads to a login mask, but the user should be logged in to SAP MII, too.
