InDesign 5.5 changes Stories IDs on export document

I'm working on a project where part of the work involve InDesign templates. The rest of code calling elements from the InDesign templates refence them using IDs (IDML component name) - including files from /Stories subfolder of template and then reading content.
One of the options that I want to give for my customers is ability to modify some of the template elements and then re-render template using these modifications.
Unfortuntely I just realized that when I open .IDML document via InDesign and the export again as .IDML it doesn't keep the same component names (IDS) for elements like Stories. Everytime on export all is changed - including file names in /Stories subfolder. It's the same behavion using export in InDesign app and calling open/export metthods via Applescript.
Is there a way to force InDesign to not change IDs (IDML component names) when I open and export .idml document ?
I've tried all the options of "Open" dialog (open normal, open original, open copy) without success.

IDML is not for utilising as a template manager.
IDML was introduced for
1. As a method to save files from later versions of Indesign to be opened in previous versions
2. For problematic old files not opening correctly in a newer version of Indesign
3. General corruption clearing of a file when it misbehaves unexpectedly.
For Templates you should save as an InDesign Template

This will allow you to use the Open commands as you want to.
Open Normal - will open the Template in InDesign ready for Editing
Open Original - will open the Template in InDesign to edit the Template file and resave
Open Copy - opens a copy of the original file to be edited.

About a month ago I installed Mac Keeper to clean up files and it was a BIG mistake! I think it deleted the 32-bit files from the operating system.
Could that be causing this issue? But if so, why is it just now happening?

InDesign crashing when changing Document Setup

Hi
I have an 75 page InDesign file with some text and placed files
When I make any changes in the Document Setup dialog, (Pg Sz, Facing Pages etc) InDesign crashes with the following message:
I exported to IDML, but that didn't help either
Any suggestions?
I'm running CS6 on Mac OSX Mountain Lion

I think maybe the style itself is corrupt. The next thing I would try is creat a new file (blank) and in that file define a new style with the exact same name (case sensitive) and then import the style into the other file using Load All Text Styles from the paragraph styles panel menu.
I'm not certain that's going to work though, so be prepared to export the text to InDesign Tagged Text, then make yet another new file. Recreate (or load from that other new file) any styles that are causing a problem, then place the tagged text. You can work from there in the new file, or you can go back to the original, delete the offending style (leaving the text without a style), then copy the newly placed text in the new file and paste it into the original to replace what's there and restore the style assignments. You might want to do all of that on a copy, by the way, just for safety.

InDesign CC file freezes at 66% when exporting to IDML (Mac and PC)

Hi,
I'm using InDesign CC (9.1) and attempting to export an indd document to idml. However, it freezes at 66% and never completes.
FWIW, I've deleted chunks of text to see at what point it does successfully export and have found a point at which it does work — after deleting a lot of text until you hit the middle of a word.
I read about there being a possible memory space issue but I see the exact same behavior in both the Mac and PC versions of InDesign CC.
Does anyone know what I can do to resolve this issue?

If you re-defined Basic Paragrpaph in the original file, you'll need to fix that, too. Styles and swatch definitions use the destination defintions, if they already exist, and I guess Layers might be have the same.
I'm not sure what you are running inside the Automatication plugin -- only glanced at it briefly, but it looks likea way to organize and chain find/change queries. If I have that right, you may find you can also use Peter Kahrel's Query Manager (http://www.kahrel.plus.com/indesign/chain_queries.html) or one of the many "fix-up" scripts to correct Word formatting. I'm fond of Jongware's PrepText script (http://indesignsecrets.com/perfectpreptext-a-smart-way-to-style-local-formatting.php). Because these are both scripts rather than plugins they should work in CC if you put them in a Scripts panel subfolder for earlier version scripts if they don't run natively. Sub foler names would be like Version 7.0 Scripts or Version 6.0 Scripts to make ID interpret as CS5/5.5 or CS4, respectively. The folder name is case sensitive.

I am trying to buy an episode that is only offered on the Canadian Itunes, I was offered" to change store" in a pop up window in Itunes and when i go to buy it then tells I can't so why waste my time??

HT1311 I want to change store back to UK but it won't let me. It keeps saying I have a store credit balance that I have to spend before changing stores. What do I do?

I am in the UK and I wanted to view an app but it said it was only available in US stores and it asked me if I wanted to change stores. So I stupidly chose yes so I could see the app. Terrible mistake. It was a rubbish app and I can't change my store back to the UK store, because of this, I cannot update my apps that aren't from the US store and it really frustrates me.
I've done what apple has said. Log out, sign in, change country/region to selected store but that didn't work. It said:

What do I do?

Oh and I do not want to clear my balance, I have quite a lot left on there.

In Lightroom 4, is it possible to change the resolution when exporting to Facebook?

Is it possible to change the resolution when exporting a photo to Facebook using either the regular plugin or Jeffrey Friedl's plugin? I can't seem to do it; I only have control over the image dimensions, not the resolution and the dimensions, as you can see in the screen shots below:

I can't find the option to control the resolution when I try to export to Facebook. Before I got Lightroom 4, I would create whole new low-resolution files of images I wanted to post online using Photoshop. The image size settings I would use are a longest edge of 10 inches at 72ppi, and I would like to continue doing this. If I can only set the longest side to 720 pixels (I can't even seem to set the longest edge to an inches value - I can only choose a pixels value) and not change the resolution from 300ppi to 72ppi, then my photos' longest edge will only be less than 3 inches long (right?). Thus, I really want to be able to upload low-resolution photos to Facebook via Lightroom with the ability to change both the resolution and the image dimensions. Any idea how to do it without having to export to my hard drive first? Thanks!

You can set it to whatever you like, and it makes no difference. Most of the time (depending on how you saved it), it will still open as "72".
When you save an image for web, the resolution is usually stripped from the file. It's simply not there anymore. That's probably what happens in the Lr facebook module, and that's why there's no entry for it.
But when you open that image somewhere else, that default of 72 ppi is assigned. Most apps need to know what to do with a file if asked to print it out. So there is a default, and that's usually 72, mostly by convention. With that default ppi, it prints out at a comparable size to what you see on screen at 1:1 display.
And when people see that, they think "hey, web images are 72 ppi". But they're not - that figure is just inserted there by the opening application.

You can use your remaining store credit by purchasing an item, and paying the extra amount using a credit card, debit card, or if your country's store supports it, your PayPal or Click&Buy account.

Update of links in Indesign CS6 when changing asset via drive

i am having an issue regarding the integration of Adobe AEM with InDesign CS6 via Drive:
I have a indd document that has a link to an image, both are stored on a Adobe AEM 5.6.1 server and accessed via Adobe Drive 5.0.2.
Now i tested the use case that the asset is changed and replaced on the AEM instance. I expect that InDesign tells me that the link has updated when I am opening the file the next time and the new asset is shown.
Unfortunatly this expectation occurs very unreliably and I managed to update the image only a few times.
However, if i link to an image on my local hard drive and i change it, InDesign reacts immediatly. So i think that Adobe Drive is the responsible part.
So my question is: does anyone have the same experience when integrating InDesign with AEM via Drive and does anyone know a best practise to reliably update images when the target of a link has changed?

While writing I made a mistake... It is true I could become aware of the Scorpio incompatibility.
I also tried the same identical procedure with a Seagate one. This disk and the same procedure was performed by some people I know on many MacBookPro Mid-2010 and everything was OK.
We do not understand why this problenm occurs.
Furthermore, If I installed the system on the broken HDD (that works, but sometimes it fails so badly and makes the system experience kernel panic) I could boot from it.
I guess it is because of the **** Apple FIrmware written on the label.
Is it possible that I cannot manage to boot from my new HDD because it has not a "special" feature on it that makes it compatible with apple??? Why making things so **** difficult my god a closer world like Apple one is impossible to imagine.

Indesign CS2 Crashes when I try to export a document as pdf

I'm using Indesign CS2 on a G5 using OS X version 10.4.11. As i try to export my document indesign completely crashes after I click the 'export' button in the pdf options window. I've tried saving using different pdf options and different document types but it still happens?

Does your document contain any EPS files..? If so try re-saving them. InDesign can work with native photoshop & illustrator files.
Failing that check your fonts as there may be a corrupt one lurking about...

When placing a png in indesign the png changes/loses its orginal color.

When placing a png in indesign the png changes/loses its original color. Ex. the very clear blue that I am using turns dark and "dirty". ( my RGB is : 5,125, 255 - when I type this I get a " out of gamut warning" a little yellow icon. When I click on it indesign automatically changes the RGB into: 67, 117, 187)
I have worked with indesign for 6 years and never experienced this before. I am guessing it has something to due with that the png is in RGB and indesign in cmyk, but I have no idea what to do about it?

Out of Gamut means the color cannot be printed in your current workspaces using CMYK inks. You would see a preview of the converted color if you move into Overprint Preview, use Proof Colors, or there is transparency and the blend space is set to CMYK.
If this is destined for screen use, then the color doesn't matter, but you should be sure the blend space is set to RGB.
