InDesign or DPS?

I've created button links but I can't see the cursor change or the rollover states in Preview mode, do I have to publish to test in Apple? I'm running Windows 7 and ID 5.5 trial version, thanks for any info.

DPS does not support the rollover state.

Creating a button that flips back and forth on iPad in InDesign through DPS

How do I create a button that flips back and forth on iPad in InDesign through DPS. I saw it on a food magzine on an ipad ... it's just a circle with text it in, when you click it the whole circle flips to the other side and there is a different color with different text. The circle does not change position, it just flips. Again, I want to do this so it shows up on the ipad through DPS.

How do I use an Edge Animate project with SVG files in InDesign for DPS output?

Is there any way to include an Edge Animate web content using .svg files in InDesign for output to DPS?
Edge Animate works great with InDesign, except for when you're using SVG files. I've worked with SVG files on the web successfully (writing .htaccess files and such), but it seems like InDesign doesn't like them.
This is pretty important because I don't want to have to design multiple renditions on the DPS suite. Currently I have it setup as a PDF format (DPS) and that scales all of the vector-based type perfectly. It would be wonderful if the animations could also be in a vector format so that when the iPad (3) users see the designs, they will scale naturally through the PDF framework.
Any advice would be invaluable.

Creating interactive quizzes for use in InDesign CS6 DPS ebooks

Hi
Are there any Adobe products that I can use to create interactive quizzes that I can just drop into InDesign when producing ebook apps using the DPS. We’ve tried creating the quizzes in Adobe Presenter and Captivate, but couldn’t get the output to work in InDesign.
Ideally, I'm looking for a quiz generator that has a choice of question types and a input interface to enter the question details, much like that found in Adobe Presenter.
Any suggestions would be welcome.

I'm not a Captivate user but I downloaded the trial version, built a simple quiz and published it as per James’s instructions. I unchecked the box so that the timeline isn’t shown during the quiz. Since I’m not really familiar with Captivate, this might seem like a stupid question. Is there a way of not showing the initial screen with the play button and timeline at the bottom, so that the user would just see the first slide of the quiz in the publication? I also see the timeline on the Results slide. Can I turn that off? Or should I be posting this question on the Captivate forum?!

Can't place Edge file in InDesign for DPS

I'm making an animation to play at the beginning of a DPS article, and I can't get it to place in InDesign. I've set the publish settings for DPS, and exported the animation as a .oam file, but when I go to place it the file is grayed out, or I get an error message saying "Cannot place this file. No filter found for requested file." I'm in InDesign 5.5 so not sure if that's affecting it. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

I was wondering if in inDesign CS6 it was possible to make a click and drag application. So when the application is playing on an ipad you can click and drag images around the screen freely?

Should be possible with an HTML5 widget.

Embedding google map in Indesign for DPS

Has something changed with the lastest update ....?
In the past, when I needed to place a embed a map, I just went to google pick up the embed code and Cmd V into Indesign. I'll see a static image but it is "live" when when tested on the iPad.
Since the update, this does not seem to work anymore... the embedded code is not a static image on on iPad during testing.
Am I the only one experience this issue? Or am I doing soehting wrong?

Thanks Bob. I could have sworn that I downloaded the lastest update! I had just downloaded the update again and checked the dates. The last update I had was the version of 23 jan 2013. The one I just downloaded as per your advice was 30 Jan 2013. Seems to be working again!

Can't log into Folio Builder panel. Wont verify CC Membership. Indesign or DPS bug?

I have tried to log in to see my folios in the folio Builder panel. However it as for AdobeID. I am logged into my CC Account already. so when the builder panel trys to verify it just spins and spins and tells me to enter password again. any help would be nice. I have update panel and deleted the OOCM file or that is what I think I read to do on this forum. Thanks in advance for any direction.

Well mate, I've got inDesign CC and have similar issue. Mine is saying no internet, connect and try again... I contacted CC centre and they are saying I have to wait for 24 hours until SAB ( which I am not sure what it is) to be removed and the account will be activated. I must say Adobe charged me for the CC first and payment has been made.
I recommend you to contact their centre and explain to them what is happening. The other way, try to sign in to your creative cloud first and then run your inDesign CC and see how you go.

sorry, in russian only. I know many bugs already have been written here in community but anyway.
— индиз часто висит. на ровном месте. без причин (например, при переходе на след полосу); да о чём тут говорить! это самая зависающая и падающая программа.
— бывает вылетает при добавлении файлов в фолио на половине прогресса.
— пора бы сделать добавление статей в билдер через драг-н-дроп;
— пропадает меню с редактированием фолио;
— постоянно разлогинивается фолио. бывает, только со второго раза удаётся зайти. версия программы легальная.
— следующее работает через раз: ссылку, например, на внешний ресурс, выделив текст, уже не сделать (панель Hyperlinks). только через наложение фрейма поверх текста и создавая из него кнопку. в скроллах это уже не работает .
— часто невозможно поменять язык ввода. приходится перезапускать программу. в других программах Adobe всё нормально. это заметно только в индизайне.
— иногда нельзя переместить объект в группу других объектов через панель слоёв. в это время объект остаётся на своём месте, но обозначение в виде чёрной полоски в панели, что объект якобы переместился, остаётся.
— очень часто вылетают шрифты. индиз их просто не видит, а в системе они, конечно же, есть.
— в шестой версии: я скопировал название файла и хочу сохранить файл под этим именем в другом месте, но в русской раскладе текст не копирует и не вставляется в окно Save As.
— mac only: при смене порядка вкладок открытых файлов переключение между ними через cmd ~ почему-то не меняется согласно новому порядку, если я их поменял по своему усмотрению, — остаётся как прежде, то есть скачет между ними так, как они были открыты изначально. в версии для windows, помнится, всё нормально работает.
— не поддерживается обтекание в скроллах
—заметил следующее: если скопировать статью из одного фолио в другое, не будут работать кнопки перехода на страницы.
— нельзя задавать приоритет интерактива и обычного содержимого, перенося объекты выше или ниже остальных. то есть обычный контент всегда проигрывает интерактиву. например, я создаю интерактив, который перекрывается колонтитулом. для того, чтобы последний не закрывался в дальнейшем интерактивными элементами, мне надо из колонтитула также сделать, например, мультистейт.
— было бы здорово задавать в мультистейтах swipe до определённых стейтов. допустим, у меня первый стейт пустой, для закрытия, и, если включить swipe, то слистывая назад до первого стейта, читатель доходит до пустого стейта — всё, шляпа!
— если на странице скролл на всю страницу или на большую её часть, сложно уйти на другие страницы. для этого надо делать засоряющие макет пустые кнопки или мультистейты.
— не видны мультистейты в превью страниц на айпаде
— почему нельзя выставлять произвольные значения в folio overlay? не смотря на то, что окна со значениями открыты для редактирования, все вводимые числа округляются до кратных 0,125.
— для чего придумали выбирать Raster и Vector в скроллах и слайд-шоу, когда vector всё равно самый выгодный? хорошо, что в скроллах вектор выставляется автоматом, а вот в слайд-шоу всегда ручками нужно изменять на вектор. всегда! потому что нужно учитывать ретину.
— очень "жидкий" набор эффектов, работающих на айпаде.
— не всегда можно распределять через клавиши порядок объектов внутри мульти-стейта.
— все векторные объекты в кнопке, если она в мультистейте, растритуются. это не зависит от того, что в мультистейте стоит галочка вектор.
— при добавлении нескольких команд к кнопке нельзя выставить приоритет, перетащив важную команду выше второстепенной. хотя функция перетаскивания и есть, но положения не фиксирутся.

all these bags are not depend on version. some of them I found out in CS4 (not DPS) — for example spontaneous crash without obvious reason or jumping between opened documents (see point 11 of my list) when I use cmd~. Others I did in CS5 and do in CS6 right now.

Indesign CC, DPS and "empty folio" message

I get an empty folio error message from folio builder using ID 9.2 v 26. I'm opening it from an
active Indesign folio. So after reading some forum questions, I'm thinking my problem might be
in one or none of these issues:
"Updating" folio so it reads in the folio builder--how to? I'm opening from saved document of course.
In folio producer when i'm signed on, i get the same message. Though I'm not using a connected Ipad, that
should still work on the desktop, right?
Otherwise can someone tell me what I'm doing fundamentally wrong?

In folio builder i have the name of the folio selected, say, "country cat family 1.indd."
There are other folios, but this is the one selected, darkened. So i assume i've selected the entire folio?
This is a folio in which there are three separate "images" (links) that i've built into the folio. I see these images/links in the active indesign work space where i place them.
I'm using the term "spread" because i think that corresponds to the separate "images/links" through which i scroll. This is the term i see in the progress bar when uploading to folio producer.
The issue above occurs when I hit desktop preview in folio builder.

One thing I do not understand about InDesign CS5.5 and Digital Publishing Suite.
Do you have to buy Digital Publishing Suite, or is included when you purchase Creative Suite 5.5?

Bonjour,
Je souhaite savoir si nous pouvons utiliser les animations disponibles d'indesign vers le digital publishing?
Ex : créer un liens animé par un reduce > via l'aperçu de la palette animation tous se passe bien mais dans le content viewer rien ne se passe?
Pour info j'ai vu cette animation dans le magazine STYLIST dispo sur les plateformes habituelles ,)

Le panneau "Animation" c'est pour l'export en SWF ou en FLA.
Pour les folios ça se passe dans le panneau "Folio Overlay".
