Indesign Pantone Issue (cannot create swatch library)

Help please.
I know this topic has been discussed (Pat Davis - 04:31pm May 28, 2008) but there didn't appear to be a solution. I'm running 10.4.11 on a Power Mac G4. Indesign CS2 has decided to give me the message "Cannot create swatch library. There are no swatches in the file...Presets: Swatch Libraries." The swatches are there! This has been going on for the last couple of days. I can create colours eg cmyk or rgb but not use and Pantone swatches. Anybody have any ideas.
Cheers Pam

Also update to 10.4.11
10.4.1 had many issues none of which were good.
Also make sure you are fully updated for CS.
after you are updated choose new swatch in the swatch pallet and choose pantone solid in the color mode pulldown.

  • Create Swatch Library

    Is there a program available that allows me to create a swatch library within illustrator based on my printing profile?
    I am looking to build a library of the solid coated pantone library to my printing profile and load it into illustrator.

    I understand what you want to do but it actually does not make sense. the colors of pantone have to be constant. That means they are device independent if you profile your document to match your printer that would be a better way of going about this after all if the document had a different profile say then the colors in the swatches then what would be the purpose of setting you document to a profile?
    And many of the colors in most of the Pantone Libraries are spot colors which cannot be profiled any way since the color comes from actually mixing ink rathe than from printing intent.
    You need to read about printing and profiling in order to understand that even if this could be done  you would not want to do so.

  • Makepkg issue: cannot create temp file for here-document

    Hi there,
    Since few weeks ago i'm not able to build aur packages. I use yaourt  but i notice the problem comes from makepkg (i searched for the output message and found fakeroot related issues). Here the complete log of, for example, launching makepgk on with the ruby-headers PKGBUILD:

  • External context mapping issue: cannot create nodes,no mapping defined yet

    Hello everybody,
    I'm trying to use the external context mapping as it is explained in http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/d7/e551cf896c3a49bb87bb4ce38c99c8/frameset.htm
    I did it in the past without any problem, but now, when i try to create a new node, i get the error "cannot create nodes,no mapping defined yet." This error appears as i try to create an element of the node (in the Internal Component), this way:
         IPruebaNodoElement elto = wdContext.nodePruebaNodo().createPruebaNodoElement();
         elto.setPrueba("Esto es una prueba");
         wdContext.nodePruebaNodo().addElement(elto);
    The mapping is correctly done in the "Embedder Component", and the attribute "isInputElement"=true in the Interface Controller of the "Internal Component".
    Any idea, any clue?
    Thank you very much in advance
    Isidro López

    Frankly speaking: I just read again, but very carefully, all the steps explained at
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/d7/e551cf896c3a49bb87bb4ce38c99c8/frameset.htm.
    Read it carefully and try to implement that example, that could be really helpful.

  • Linux Cannot Create Shared Library to call from Labview. Anyone have any ideas?

    Hi there.  A while back i created a shared library (.dll) to call in labview which works great.  Lately i have been using Linux more and more and was hoping to recompile the shared library for use in Linux Labview.  My first go I am getting the following error #error "Unknown Linux platform"   from the platdefines.h.   Evidently it does not like my system.  Using QT creator on linux mint 64 bit.   Anyone have any ideas on how i can get this working?
    thanks so much!

    I have a few version questions: What version of Windows was this DLL orignally created in? What version of LabVIEW are you using? What version of Linux are you using?
    I think you will also find this previous discussion forum thread useful: http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/Calling-DLL-on-LabVIEW-for-Linux/td-p/58322

  • HRSP Issue -cannot create infotype 210, it requests EIC code May/June 2011

    We have just applied the Human Resources Support Pack (HRSP) into our Development System with an aim to move to production soon. In the process of testing, we have noticed a problem with Infotype 210.  We were trying to enddate a record, and we cannot, as we get the screen attached here, saying we have to enter the EIC code, which is closed (error message is "Enter applicable EIC status before entering number of qualifying children.").  Not sure what is going on, but we don't have a problem in the Quality Assurance Server which does not have the HRSP applied.
    We had to change the value of number of children to 00 in debug, to get the end date through. we were just trying to transfer an employee from MA to MN.
    Looking forward to hear from you.
    Thanks,

    Hi Michael,
    Do you get the same error if you create a new record in IT0210 and enddate it? As you told us when you submitted the query, you needed to change the value of number of children to 00 in debug to save the record. I think you will need to update manually the PA0210 records that have the missing entries for the new field. As you only face it in development system it should not be a really problem to do that.

    Felipe

  • How to create a swatch library from multiple png files?

    Illustrator CC
    I am having a difficult time trying to create a new swatch libray of patterns from multiple png files. The way I am doing this is very slow and repetitive and seems silly for a tool as advanced as the latest CC suite including illustrator.
    What it seems I must do is open all the png files in Illustrator, creating multiple workspaces, drag one png file into the swatch window, then save that window as a library, close the existing window to reveal the next png file, open the user library I just created, drag the next image into the currently active swatch window, then drag the previous swatch/s from the user library into the current active swatch window, resave and replace the user defined swatch library (now with two images in there)fromthe updated current active swatch panel/window, close the existing workspace to reveal the next image file, and then repeat the process again, slowly building the user defined swatch library up by adding one image at a time and then adding back into the Swatch panel the previously built up library of swatches again one at at time.  (you can select all from the existing  user defined library and drag over into swatch panel, but this creates at least one  duplicate on each cycle for as soon as you click on the first swatch in the library, it adds itto the current swatch panel and then when you select all swatches to drag across it includes the first swatch and copies it again)
    This is a very slow process to build up a swatch library. For some reason you cannot drag swatches directly into  the user defined library you have created, only into the active swatch window for each workspace. I searched the web and forums  for answers but could find none. There must be an easier way,  just can't find it.
    Ideally, the best option would be a swatch window  option that allows the import directly from a list of selected files in the finder.
    Any ideas out there?

    Monika,
    Thank you for responding, however I am not exactly clear on what you mean by "libraries are plain AI files". For example, I cannot find a file with the same name as my user defined library name that I have created. I can find the preinstalled swatches listed under Adobe Application Support... Library... Swatches, but a user defined folder is not present and the library sets that I have already created are not visible. I have tried searcing my Mac for a (name).ase file and still no luck (at least for the name I was looking for). I can open the user defined library from the Swatch library icon on the bottom left of the Swatch panel, but when I open this I cannot drag and drop add new swatches directly to this library. As stated above, I have to add each pattern, one at at time to the normal swatch panel, then add back the previous ones I have saved from the user defined library to the swatch panel and then save threm all as an updated user defined library. Thus by repeating this process, it builds up the user defined library one at a time.
    I am using Illustrator CC if this makes a difference.

    I have installed Adobe Lightroom CC.  In the process of launching, a popup appears, that says:  "AN INTERNAL ERROR HAS OCCURRED.  Cannot create the required folder:  /Users/(my user name)/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom/Develop Presets."  So even though Lightroom CC is installed, it will not launch.  What do I need to do to allow it to launch?

    The problem was solved today.  Here's the full story.  I'm a Mac user.  At first I installed Lightroom CC on my iMac (desktop).  I had this problem so I called Adobe, and was referred to a "special unit" .  After about an hour the tech solved it for me ... we did a screen sharing and she took control of my computer for a loooong time.  Because of language difficulties, at first I wondered if she knew what she was doing but she eventually solved it.  Although she couldn't explain exactly what she was doing, she summarized it by saying "it was a permissions problem."  I asked if I would have the same issue later when I installed it on my laptop (Macbook Air).  She said probably not.
    But I did.  The same internal error popup arose on launch and launch did not complete on my laptop.  I tried chat but no joy so I eventually called Apple Care.  I had noticed that on my laptop (and the iMac for that matter), that there was no Library folder after my user name.  The Apple tech explained that the Library folder is actually there but it is hidden because it's very easy for users to do some very nasty things to their computer by going astray while in the Library folder.  The folder is actually there, but they hide it.  I did remember seeing that the tech helping me with my iMac had typed the work "Library" while she was controlling my computer.  Basically she had activated the hidden Library folder so she could open the path that Lightroom was trying to follow to create that "Develop Presets" folder.  For some reason, the inability to create that folder in the launch process was preventing launch from being completed.  The Apple tech said she didn't actually have to do that and activated the Library folder by use of the Go selection on the menu bar.  Anyway, once that complete path was replicated and opened, the next step was to go to the Lightroom Permissions field and add my user name to the user categories already there and enable "read and write" permissions to my user name.  Once done, I shut down my laptop, and then rebooted.  I launched Lightroom and then boom, voila, heavens to betsy, etc. it launched and suddenly a dismal weekend turned into a great one.
    I am not a geek, so I hope this makes some sense.  I also hope Lightroom launches again tomorrow and beyond!

    Yes, it ought to.
    If the older file wasn't yours (if someone emailed it to you,or burned it on a disc, or whatever), then I am almost willing to bet you a beverage in the city of your choice that it's not a complete InDesign file. That is, maybe it was zipped and renamed, or the beginning or end of the file was chopped off during download, or something like that. The only reason I'm not actually making the bet is that there is a remote chance that I'd lose, and maybe you're in Adelaide or Khabarovsk or somewhere where the cost of airfare to me would make that bet a very expensive bet for me to to lose. So no latte for you if I'm wrong!
    The script that Jongware posted will tell you what version of InDesign made the file to begin with. Additionally, if someone did something like rename YourFile.PDF to YourFIle.INDD, it'll report that it's Not An InDesign File. Because while SpectrumPCS is kinda right and that message can be generated when attempting to open a CS5 file in CS3 or whatever, it also spits out the same message when you just try to open an Autocad file, or a Windows system file, or a PDF, or any file that InDesign actually cannot open at all.

  • Missing swatches from my Pantone+ swatch library in Illustrator (CS6) on a Mac.

    Has anyone else ever been missing swatches in Illustrator for PMS colors? My client has specifically requested PMS 2230C. It is not available in my swatch library of Pantone+ solid coated swatches. I also looked for the color above it, #2229 from the same page of the printed swatch book. It too is missing. Anyone know of a fix or where specifically I can download a new swatch library file?

    Here's a discussion from the InDesign forum that should answer your question:
    Re: 336 new pantone colors

  • How do I script Illustrator to get a PANTONE swatch from a swatch library

    I've been searching high and low, but cannot find the answer to this question.  Quite simply, I need a script to convert all PANTONE spot colors in an Illustrator file into their CMYK equivalents fromthe PANTONE BRIDGE book.
    In order to accomplish this, however, it would seem necessary for the script to search through the various PANTONE swatch library color books to find the one I'm looking for.  I have a String of the one I need, but I don't see how ExtendScript can search within the various swatch libraries (or even just the one library—"PANTONE+ Color Bridge (Un)Coated".  I can only seem to look at swatches that are in the main "Swatches" palette using Document.swatches.  Any ideas?

    I'm afraid that code gives me an 'MRAP' error in the ESTK.  But, I have actually found a way around the problem by utilizing your original suggestion of having a separate file with all of the Pantone swatches added to it so the script can grab that swatch, grab its getInternalColor, turn it into a CMYKColor, then assign the values retrieved from getInternalColor to the new swatch's four Color properties.
    Yes, it's a bit of a roundabout method and takes a lot of code, but it gets the job done quickly, and that's what I need.  Here's the code I have (The "workDoc" has already been assigned to the currently open document.):
    // To finish up, we delete the other two layers beyond the first and then save the file for use as digital printing file.
    // First, delete the two layers.
    workDoc.layers[2].locked = false;
    workDoc.layers[2].remove();
    workDoc.layers[1].locked = true;
    //          workDoc.layers[1].remove();
    // Before grouping and mirroring all of the artwork, it's time to convert all spot colors to process
    // using the PANTONE Bridge book as a reference.
    // First, let's open up the reference document that has all of the PANTONE Bridge book colors as swatches.
    var bridgeDoc = app.open(File("~/Documents/PantoneBridge.ai"));
    // Since attempting to colorize textFrame objects seems to crash Illustrator, we're best off just converting them all to paths anyway.
    var texts = workDoc.textFrames;
    for (var t = 0; t < texts.length; t++)
              texts[t].createOutline();
    var items = workDoc.pathItems;
    for (var i = 0; i < items.length; i++)

  • Error while creating database - Cannot load backend library 'oci.dll'

    Hi all,
    I am newbie to Timesten imdb (in memory database). I do not wish to use oracle rdbms.
    I have installed the Timesten IMDB on Win2003.
    E:\TimesTen\tt70_32\bin>ttVersion.exe
    TimesTen Release 7.0.5.0.0 (32 bit NT) (tt70_32:17000) 2008-04-05T00:54:16Z
    Instance admin: m4sadm
    Instance home directory: e:\TimesTen\tt70_32
    Daemon home directory: e:\TimesTen\tt70_32\srv\info
    While installing, I followed the viewlet at: [http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/timesten/viewlets/tt70_install_win_viewlet_swf.html]
    Now, I am planning to create a database, and so following the viewlet at: [http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/timesten/viewlets/tt70_create_db_win_cc_viewlet_swf.html]
    However, when I give the command (according to the viewlet), I get the following error:
    Command> select * from v$version;
    5102: Cannot load backend library 'oci.dll' for Cache Connect. OS error message '<empty>'.
    The command failed.
    Can anyone provide pointers to resolve this?

    I'm guessing you chose No to the install question about using Cache Connect to Oracle? This would cause certain libraries not to be installed at install time, specifically libraries that would enable you to use TimesTen Cache Connect to cache data from Oracle tables.
    The table "v$version" that you use in your select
    select * from v$version
    only exists on an Oracle RDBMS. It doesn't exist on TimesTen. Moreover the second viewlet you refer to is about using the TimesTen Cache Connect feature to cache tables from Oracle RDBMS. If you're not interested in using Oracle RDBMS, as you say, it would be my assumption that you're also not interested in using the TimesTen Cache Connect feature? So I'm a little confused here about your intentions. Are you interested in using TimesTen as a standalone datastore, or do you want to use it to cache data from tables located in an Oracle RDBMS?
    Thanks.
