Hi,
please suggest if i can calculate the maximum row size for index.
Thanks

Average Row Length for Indexes?
Hey guys, still working on my sizing model and had a question about indexes. Is there a comparable avg_row_length to indexes like there are for tables? I know how to formulate average row length on a table no problem... is it the same for indexes? Is there any other overhead aside from normal table overhead that I need to think about with indexes?
Much obliged.
TimSJustin,
Thanks, I was doing exactly that up until a couple hours ago and reached my conclusion, what you said. I applied 1,3,6,9,12 months worth of data according to dimensions based on time. After I crunched the numbers and did the work, I found my answer. Thanks for your comments.
Regards,
TimS
P.S. Luckily there aren't any deletes in this flow except for housekeeping which is just partition movement. I can only imagine how difficult it will be to start sizing up another data warehouse that already does that. But in this last rookie year I realized in a data warehouse environment (as opposed to OLTP), it's a lot safer to utilize partition movement than to delete, which inevitably leads to fragmentation.

IB Section Index Row Count option
I was wondering what the option "Section Index Row Count" in Interface Builder does?
There's no option to tell IB how many sections there are in a UITableViewController and I thought that was the purpose of the methods numberOfSectionsInTableView and numberOfRowsInSection.
I'm new to iPhone programming but it seems to ignore whatever you set in IB and uses the methods defined in UITableViewControllerI haven't read your code, but can make a guess at what's going wrong. Checkboxes do behave in a weird manner depending upon whether you have selected one or many.
Assuming this is the statement where you are generating the checkbox :
<input type="checkbox" name="checkBoxName" value="<%= someValue %>">
What you could do is read the checked checkBoxes in an array :
String[] values = request.getParameterValues("checkBoxName");
int sizeOfValues = values.length;
Then use the sizeOfValues to perform your delete action :
if (sizeOfValues==1)
performDelete();
else
for (int i=0; i<sizeOfValues(); i++)
performDelete();
Hope this technique works. -

The 'Add' button lets the user dynamically add/remove of table rows.
I tried passing the value using hidden field but failed. How can I pass the table # of rows back to the servlet, and I also have problems getting the value from the new row created by the script. Please enlighten ASAP!
<script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">

declare int to hold number of rows
do db search
move cursor to last row (i forget the function call name, but you can find it)
call getRow() or something to get the row number the cursor is on
then you call findFirst or getFirst or sometihng to go back to start -

This is not a SQL Server error. What tool are you using? If you are using SSMS, maybe a DDL trigger?

2. Enter table name JEST and press Edit
3. Click on Indexes Button
4. Double click on index JEST~I
5. Click "Delete Database Index" it will delete the index
6. Now Click "Create Database Index", it will create Database index

This way Index recreated as per the table field.
Repeate above steps for all the indexes which gives error.
This way you can repair all the indexes which gives error -
I have a 9.2 instance and I was wondering if there was a max row length in my tables.
Do you happen to have a small-ish test case the reproduces the problem? I can pretty much guarantee you that the database itself doesn't limit the size of the row, but I'm hard-pressed to imagine a cause for this sort of problem in the application stack.
For sanity, you might try applying the latest patchsets to your client and server to see whether that magically fixes something.

Hi All,
How we can find Avg row length size of a table, without inserting data into a table. This is required to basically estimate table size (roughly). We might need to this for at least 100+ tables.
regards,
varaThe average row length depends on the data you are inserting into the table.
You can easily compute an approximation of the max row length from Oracle’s data dictionary:
select
table_name ,
sum(data_length)
from
user_tab_columns
group by
table_nameLet’s say we have a table with a number(10) and a varchar2(1000) column. For a data set where the varchar2 column contains at least 900 characters we would get average row size of 900+. For the same table, but with another data set where the varchar2 column has fewer than 50 characters, we would get average row size of less than 100.

Hi
How to increase length of row in cross tab.
i took descrption as row in crosstab, how to increase it's length.The length of the row can only be increased by clicking on the row field and expand it from the corner pointers. There is no automatic adjustment button for the row to adjust itself.

Exporting text files with wide row lengths
Post Author: stingray454
CA Forum: Exporting
I'm using Crystal Reports v 9.2, and I'm trying to export a report to an ASCII text file that needs to have very wide rows of data, up to 420 characters long (wide) on each row. This report will never be physically printed, only used to export an ASCII text file.
When designing the report, Crystal's page width is dependent on the printer driver used and the page width. I obviously needed something wider than 8.5 x 14 in landscape mode to fit all the fields in a 420 character wide row. I found by using an Adobe PDF generating printer driver, like CutePDF as the printer, I could go into the driver advanced setting, and set a customized PostScript page size up to 200 inches wide. That works for creating a wide enough Report layout to place all my fields. However, when I go to export the report to the TXT file, it cuts off at 22.5 inches or 180 characters wide when viewed in Notepad or any other text reader, even though the data is showing in Crystal Reports' preview mode.
My question is: is there any way I could export an ASCII text file using Crystal Reports that has up to 420 characters wide in a single row? Are there any characters per inch settings in Crystal?
Thanks!Post Author: mzellner

Have you tested the limits of a csv? What you're doing sounds like creating a fixed length ascii record. I thought about writing a program to build fixed length records from a csv file. Maybe there's one out there somewhere, who knows? -
Exits/Badis for FP03DM to change file format(row length)
Hello Experts,
I want to find out the exits/BADI's for changing the file format while submitting a file for collection agency during mass processing ( FP03DM ).
I know there are events 5062, 5063, 5064 but they only enable me to change the existing field contents and not the length..etc of rows in the file.
Please suggest
Thanks
RickyHi Ricky,
Your problem can have two solutions:
1. Fill the data in event 5062, 5063 and 5064. These events update table 'dfkkcolfile_p_w'. From there by passing Issue Date and ID, you can pick all records to be submitted to Collection Agency. The using event 1799, you can pick all these records and create your own file. (Preferable)
2. You can customize structures FKKCOLFILE_HEADER, FKKCOLFILE, FKKCOLFILE_TRAILER to include your own fields. But in this case, it fields would be in same order as structure.
Thanks.
