InfoFrame, isn't.

Newbie questions again...
I currently am writing an applet in JDeveloper 1.1.7 to access an
Oracle 8 database. The original frame contains a button which
launches an InfoFrame based component named TimeCourse.
Currently, I'm using the TimeCourse time1 = new TimeCourse()
command on the original Frame's button.
Now here's where I'm having an issue:
When I hit my button, when running in AppAccelerator inside
JDeveloper, I get a login dialog box which seems to provide a
connection to the database. However, I'm not getting the
TimeCourse frame showing up.
Does anyone know why?

Try calling setVisible(true) on your frame. This should fix it.

I bought Aperature and PS from a university store, not under my apple username, now it won't let me update it to work with Yosemite because it isn't hooked to my username. how do i fix it and get the upgrade

A few years ago or so i bought Aperture and Photoshop (the whole kit and caboodle) from a university subsidized store (my husband worked there and buying programs like those two, the whole Microsoft office Suite, all kinds of things) at a very significant discount, i think we paid 25$ for Photoshop vs the 400$ it was selling for on the open market.
Yesterday i upgraded most of my laptops to Yosemite (one of them I'm sure was the one that had Aperture on it, a 17in MacBookPro, its about 2 years old now, but at the time i bought it it was the highest computer apple had on the regular floor, I'm sure i could have added some stuff to customize it for extra, but basically we are talking top of the line computer. I recently just required a 2012 MackBook Air with also fairly heavy specs from a family member that was upgrading (I'm not sure why, i know they couldn't possibly be using this thing for anything beyond its capacity, its basically new, and they aren't 3D animation rendering and needed a "quicker" one).
I was very happy with the upgrade, and now it does work much more seamlessly with my iPads and my iPhone, but the whole reason i uploaded it was to work on pictures, adjust them, change the size and then print them out to include in jewelry, and Yosemite won't let me use Aperture at all, when i click to upgrade it (in the bar all it has basically old icon with a (no sign or ghost busters like sign over it) i click on it and it says, you did not buy this with your apple account name and i could not upgrade it. But it just made me click ok, and did not give me any info on how to upgrade it. i do physically own it, or my husband does, I'm not sure to whom it is registered, but sholdnt i still make it able to work with this new operating system, even if not through regular "software updates" it used to always be asking me to upgrade "word" and i got that in the same way, so what is the issue and what do i do to get it to work on this new system?

Wow that was really quick, thank you so much. Im not sure at all which version it was because i said it was around 4 years ago he bought it. I know it isn't under his username, since he's a PC person (ugh) so i know its probably registered to one of our actual names. isn't there some way to look it up since we did register it, because I'm not even sure where the disks are from when we bought it (we've moved a lot and also have two storage lockers, i know i would have kept it with other disks) but my cd rom drive is actually broken on my computer as well ( i think it got stepped on and is now squished and won't eject or run disks.)
So is there anyway they can look up that its registered to one of our names since we did register it when we bought and installed it, or do i really have to find the disk with some sort of proof of purchase (i know there would be no receipt after all this time)

Ipod isn't recognized by itunes and computer but it still charges

i've tried a hard reset but that didn't do anything.
when i plug it into my computer i get a message saying that the USB device isn't recognized.
so, when i look at it in device manager the ipod shows up as a unknown device
and the device status says "there are no drivers installed for this device".
anybody know what to do?

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

So my ipod wasn't being recognized by itunes so i sent it away to apple to be fixed and they sent me a brand new one but this one isn't being recognized by itunes eitheir? I've uninstalled and re-installed itunes plenty of times, my lead is perfect and its really annoying me i have no music or anything on it? Help please:o

Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
- New cable and different USB port
- Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause

When HP Recovery isn't available... system image using Windows 8 as backup?

Would like to start out with a big shout out to Paul T for his VERY useful thread here ! http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-Systems-and-Software/Windows-8-Product-Key-for-Pavilion-G6/m-p/3882966/highlight/false#M205987 A friend's family asked me to work on their laptop since I know more about computers than they do ... they're very good people, was happy to help them out but true to form like a lot of PC users they didn't bother keeping ANY of the documentation that came with the laptop (HP Pavilion g6-2298nr ), nor did they bother to burn recovery DVD's using HP's built in recovery software program that comes standard on the laptops... if I'm interpreting what HP's website had to say about the laptop , model HP Pavilion g6-2298nr, correctly, according to it's serial number it no longer qualifies for free tech support and I'd have to pay HP a fee just to talk to someone and order the recovery DVD's (friend's family bought it back in Dec 2014 so to me it seems REALLY strange that I wouldn't be able to just order the recovery DVD's without having to pay tech support a fee just to ask to order the recover DVD's ! .. but anyways...)... This is where having the product key "built into" the BIOS really comes in handy ! I crossed my fingers, used the method mentioned in the thread linked above, and it worked ! ... have to admit it was a bit strange at first not using the product key sticker like the old days but I can see how this works better in the long run - helps to prevent piracy, you don't have to worry if someone who doesn't realize the importance of the product key sticker peels it off and throws it away ... Unfortunately it looks like when you reinstall Windows this way you lose the HP Backup and Recovery Program ... in this case my friend's family had the misfortune of paying someone to repair this laptop who didn't bother to tell them " Hey, I replaced the hard drive that's going bad but if you don't get a laptop cooler for this sucker the laptop's just going to overheat again ! " ... sure enough, the money they paid this so called "tech repair" person went down the drain when the laptop fried a second hard drive, or maybe the tech saddled them with a bad hard drive who knows? (the tech bought an OEM hard drive off ebay) ... ... sorry to sound harsh about this tech guy, I will admit I only worked in the PC repair field for a few months over a decade ago before leaving it to be a stay-at-home-dad (wife is a pharmacist so I'm lucky enough to be able to stay home) so my experience is VERY limited compared to other people .. but back then I always treated my customers the way I'd treat a friend, and if it's a friend you offer advice on how to prevent problems like this in the future... this laptop gets HOT like you wouldn't believe , I have it sitting on a very reliable laptop cooler (thick slab of aluminum that does a great job as a heatsink with fans, this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834953038 and I've let my friend's family know in no uncertain terms they need to order this laptop cooler if they're going to use this laptop) ... I suppose I could use disk management to create a different partition, label it " D " and see if HP Backup and Recovery worked but it seems a bit.. iffy... not to mention that I feel uncomfortable downloading something that isn't directly on HP's website as an "official" download... I know that Windows 8 has a "system image" utility built into it that lets you make just that.. a system image.. like I said my friend's family are good people but I'm guessing sooner or later they're going to screw this laptop up again like a lot of computer users do .. it would be nice if I could burn a system image of what's on the laptop right now onto DVD and hang onto it so when they come back to me in the future hollering "Help , laptop isn't working again ! " I can just restore from the system image on DVD rather than having to go through the hassle of reinstalling Windows, graphics/audio/et cetera drivers, zillion and one Windows updates et cetera all over again. What I'm wondering is... would this even work? I've never tried to use system image in a situation like this with the product key being "built into" the BIOS , that sort of thing is brand new to me... is it worth burning the DVD's and hanging onto them just in case? Sorry for the long essay and thanks in advance to anyone who actually takes the time to read all of this !

Thanks man it's really helpful to know that someone else has used this exact same method successfully to back up their HP computers ! Will do just that... yep, yep I know it'll be at least 10 DVD's or something crazy like that after all those windows updates download ... problem with using an external hard drive is I can't convince my friend's family to buy one no matter how many times I warn them it's not "if" your PC gets messed up it's " when " ..... and my external hard drives are all in use with system image backups of my own PC's ... so will burn the DVD's for 'em then just hang on to them and wait for the inevitable And thanks for the kind words about my work for them too ! .. it's a lot of effort but they've been super nice to me so it's the least I can do ... they're actually parents of one of my daughter's best friends and they've taken my munchkin out to various places and flat out refused to let me pay them back for it so it feels good to be able to help them out this way... though I wish they'd come to me first instead of letting themselves get ripped off by the so called PC tech I mentioned earlier (would it have killed the guy to burn them a set of recovery DVD's? HP says despite me putting in a non-HP hard drive that recovery DVD's should work ... HP wanted $ for recovery DVD's (tried to help me order recovery DVD's off HP website, they couldn't find the link on there to them either for some reason... maybe 'cause laptop is an older model??? ) ... HP asked for thirty dollars (cheapest option!) for recovery DVD's ... but mentioned that if the laptop really was purchased Dec 2014 and if I e-mail them proof of purchase they'll ship out recovery DVD's for free instead since it would be within it's one year warranty period.. I'm waiting on the friend's family to give me the proof of purchase for me to scan and e-mail to HP ... though I think I'm going to go ahead and use system image to burn the DVD's first THEN run the HP recovery DVD's (if they do in fact turn out ot be free) in case the HP rep made a mistake and the HP recovery DVD's don't like the "unofficial" HP hard drive on this laptop...

We have been a customer of Verizon for several years and frankly had a positive experience until I made one fatal mistake. I purchased something and should have just left things alone. In Dec. 2012/Jan. 2013 I purchased the newest 64 GB iPad retina and purchased it under their new program paying monthly for 12 months or I could pay it off prior to that 12 months. The only condition to the contract was that while I was paying monthly payments I had to purchase the data plan for the iPad. Sounds harmless enough right? Wrong. It only took a few weeks when I was out of town when my iPad quit working. After calling tech support it was found that the salesperson at the Corporate Verizon store had voided the original contract for an unknown reason and reworked another contract and submitted it; however I never signed the second one as I wasn't anywhere around. They claimed he called my cell, he didn't. This salesperson had text me several times prior to my purchase of the iPad so we had communicated together and since that day I purchased it there had been no further communication from this individual. My phone and bill was proof of that as there were no incoming calls that entire month from his number or that Verizon store's number. On my next bill I had, according to Verizon, purchased TWO i Pads not One. I explained what the salesperson did so they agreed and credited my account. This was just the beginning. For the next 7 months I dealt with this issue of calling every month trying to prove that I did not purchase two iPad's but in fact purchased only one. Each month an extra loan payment of $71.66 was added, an extra data charge of $30 was added, a $2.00 previous balance fin.fee added because I would not pay for the fictitious iPad, & extra service chg for taxes and whatever charges they add were added. Of course all these charges increased with a $101.77 increase in my bill each month. Then there would be the added $5 late fee chg they'd add when they did not credit the $101.77 in an appropriate timely fashion which would make it look like we were delinquent when we were not. So basically, I was paying $203.54 each month for one iPad if they had their way. They even said at one point I was delinquent on the loan if I kept refusing to pay. They actually had TWO CONTRACTS on file yet no disciplinary actions occurred in this case. I had to drive 30 miles to the corporate store on more than one occasion trying to get this fixed and each time everyone kept saying this will be the last time. Then come September the store became rude and abrupt to the point I wasn't ever going back there again for how they treated me and my husband. We finally did get this part of the bill corrected and I would have to say got most of the money refunded, not all, but at least it was enough to just let it go and move on. So this was my FIRST mistake, I purchased an iPad and I should have listened to my husband that Verizon cannot handle changes in one's account. In mid December our iPad was paid off so we disconnected our data service to it and strictly used wireless when needed.
My android phone had become so undependable I had to finally look to purchase a new phone after having this phone replaced several times via my insurance.
I have a serious medical condition that requires me to keep a phone on hand in the event I need medical help immediately. It is a life or death issue for me. So in December I purchased a new phone for myself. My local Verizon store was out of the iPhone 5 S, which was what I wanted and it was suggested by them to check out Best Buy. So off I went. That day, Christmas Eve, I purchased a phone for my daughter, the iPhone 5 C, and that seemed to go OK. At at least for a couple months then her phone went crazy. We were having issues with crank calls and had her phone # changed. After her number was changed Every call she made it would register on caller ID as another man's name. It was the owner of the new phone number and we know this because we were constantly receiving phone calls up to 2 am for him w/re to job offers, etc. It took Verizon 7 weeks to correct the caller ID issue. SEVEN WEEKS. But then her voice mail began going to a bogus Google account that no one ever had or set up. It took several hours with tech support where they accidentally disconnected her phone and had difficulties getting it reactivated w/o changing the activation date. At one point she could only make calls but could not receive calls. Now her phone works but she has no working voice mail and the answer I receive is "we just don't know why". REALLY? "We just don't know what else to do?" I am not sure how much more I can take. Well I soon found out.
On May 6th I had to make a call to Verizon, we had made several prior to that getting our bill in order w/minor mistakes, but all of a sudden I had a charge and increase of over $50-60? After researching we found they reactivated my iPad. After the customer service agent researched it he found that the woman who was suppose to suspend it placed it on a "seasonal hold" and never took it off, even after stating I wanted the Verizon service to this unit disconnected. He was very nice and professional and stepped up to take care of the bill, Maybe too much, or beyond his authority I guess. Anyways had he done his job we wouldn't be here right now. A window is suppose to pop up telling you if there is an early disconnect fee, something I've literally just learned yesterday, I guess one did but why didn't he say something to me is the question I have? Notations showed that He automatically credited my account $340 and never notified me of the warning on my account or the credit he was doing. I've asked for this call and the recent calls and calls from December-January to be pulled but no one seems to listen. Anyways when I hung up that day on May 6th it was to my understanding my bill was Finally resolved. I pay Verizon $207 a month give or take a few dollars and I had three phones two of which were i Phones and one a flip i-phone. He also then tried to give support to my phone and he and tech support were unsuccessful. My phone has 3 apple/Verizon apps that came on the phone, they were not added extras. They are grayed out & say "waiting" under them and never loading up. We've reset it to org. mfr. settings & a whole lot of other things to that phone and it still won't work. I even reset the phone when I was in a 4G, LTE area and nothing. So what to do, I don't know. But right now I currently have two new phones not in full working order and can't get help for it yet I pay for the services each month.
Then on May 21st I had to call again. If you recall, I believed the bill was finally fixed but in fact I received a bill this month for $605.74 ! Yep, you have seen those numbers correctly. Now this so called early termination fee that was credited on May 6th (which I didn't know any of this until June 10, 2014) was now back on my bill. After dealing with a customer service agent for almost 20 minutes I finally got to a supervisor Jonathan. He listened patiently to our issues on the bill and my concerns and requests of wanting phone calls pulled to show what I was saying was fact. Even just with the recent call on May 6th I felt mislead by not being given all the information. I mean, why would I deactivate a device when I have been a Verizon customer for over 5 years and you were talking $30 charge a month vs. a $340 charge to terminate. I mean it isn't logical. I am stuck because as you will see below, I can't swap out the phone numbers of the iPhone 5 S and the iPad. The only other option is the iPhone 5 C and that is a new contract and already has a contract on it. In fact it is the only phone device that has a contract. It just did not make any sense. It was evident I was not told the entire story of what was happening in January with my phone purchase. They failed, customer service, to read all the fine print. They stated oh don't worry we do this all the time and there has never been a problem. Knowing all along that this iPad was to be and stay disconnected because I repeated it several times and even asked now the iPad is not going to be an activated account correct? No, it isn't she would state. All the services and contract will go to your phone including the 2 yrs. This has not happened. I shared all this with him and explained why changing my number was not possible. It could literally destroy my business and I would of thrown away twice this amount of money because I recently spend a lot of money on promotional materials, literature, flyers, business cards, etc. all which have my phone number on it and again all known by my customers past and current. So Jonathan promised he would be on this, request for calls to be pulled, and would return my call within a 24-36 hour period with some type of update or resolution. I did honestly chuckle sharing with him that with the exception of one lady months ago calling me back about upgrading my acct, ( I was out of town & missed her call) no one at Verizon has ever returned a phone call-never. His response was this, "I did not get in the position I am in for not returning calls. In fact it is why I am a supervisor maim, I do what I say." Hmm, Its June 10th, Where are you Jonathan??? I am still waiting for your phone call. Heck, even a text message or email will do. Just tell me where you are on my acct. vs. forcing me to call and spend hrs. rehashing all of this over and over like a broken record. Or Have you forgotten my phone number? I have pneumonia right now and laryngitis and I have had to strain my voice to no end on the phone trying to get a resolution before my billing date with no luck.
I then went through all of the above issues and that the phones, ---3532, ---9249, and ---8921 should be the only phones w/contracts and activated on our account. Well my phone---3532, the one I just purchased, had no contract. The contract was placed on my iPad, the very iPad we cancelled out in December. They kept insisting I purchased it recently at Best Buy? Then I realized it was my iPhone purchase causing the nightmare. Another purchase and its screwed up my bill, when will I learn Verizon can't handle changes. I recalled the agent stating it was 6 months before and upgrade was possible on my phone which with my medical issue wasn't working. So she said we could use the number but all the upgrades and contract will go on your 3532 number. I verified is the 2 y contract on my, MY cell phone number because I only want THREE items on contract. She stated yes and we went over the bill several times including the new bill. Now I have no contract and have three other items. You now tell me to solve this issue I need to throw my phone number out and transfer my phone number from my iPad to my new iPhone 5 S. Sounds easy enough....NOT.. I just purchased almost $600 worth of business literature, business cards etc with my phone number on it. Plus all my customers know my business through my phone number. And since you do not announce this # has been changed and here is the new number, I'd loose many of my old clients and possibly new clients. I could end of loosing thousands of dollars with this mistake. I have called over and over pleading an your support team gave me a legal dept number to call and that basically was a joke for my concerns. So here I am . Praying someone from corporate reads this. Right now I have two phones out of contract and I am almost to the point I will shut them down and leave you with the bare min until our contract is met. And I mean it would be the bare min. I want this issue resolved immediately. I believe we have gone through enough as a customer. It is bad enough I have two phones not working 100%, My iPhone 5 S - I can't even use it at home yet my daughter talks all she wants with no issues. Me, its all gurgles and choppy when I am at home with two bars. But add the bill issues and it is ridiculous and inexcusable.
Now I have called several times after May 21st trying to get to the bottom of this and have been told to wait why they read all the notes to finally have me explain what has been going on to them telling me it shows Jonathan entering notes they are still working on it. This is not good enough. Today is June 10th and my bill is due June 11th which will bring it late on June 12th. And the way you people are, you will probably shut me down June 13th. I just don't have time in my day to call the "WINBACK DEPT" because I don't have to be won back I have never left. You need a KEEPCUSTOMER DEPT or DONTLOOSE U DEPT because you are about to loose us and be left with an account that will be more of a nuisance to you.
You have the information to my account, go to it. Pick up your phone and CALL ME, FIX IT.. Lets please fix this correctly.

Selecting existing file in "Save as" dialog isn't adding the extension

I just bought a new Mac with Snow Leopard to replace my Leopard Mac and have noticed an annoying difference with the "Save As" dialog boxes in every application. In Leopard, I used to be able to select an existing file to overwrite that file. In Snow Leopard, it's letting me select an existing file, but the extension is not being added to the file name, so it's creating a new file with the same name but without the extension. I also don't have the "Hide Extension" checkbox that used to be in Leopard. Thanks. The /tmp and home directories are on the same partition as the main operating system. The Downloads directory is actually set up as a sub-directory of the home one but is a symbolic link to a NAS drive. It works fine for other MIME types. It is just when web sites use the application/octet-stream MIME type that I get this problem.
I checked the permissions and the /tmp and Downloads directories have full read write permissions for everyone. The home directory is the one with the restriction that only I can write to it.
So, I don't expect that sheds any light on the problem.

Thanks. I meant to say in my first post (but pressed the button before it got in) that I actually created a completely new Firefox profile and the problem is still there. Sorry, I should have included that.
The only difference with the fresh profile is that the "open in default application" isn't available, presumably because no default application has been assigned. The "save as" behaviour is still the same.
So, if the problem exists in a pristine profile, it looks like there is something deeper wrong.

urgh... just noticed my previous post said i have mountain lion... i meant that i have snow leopard. no idea why i messed that up!
anyway, i just tried reinstalling snow leopard from the usb key that came with the computer. Then, I installed software updates until it told me there were no more updates. After that, I tried the app store again, and it still is giving me the unknown error. really irked by that. may have to take it back to the apple store yet again, to see if i can figure out why the app store won't work.

FIREFOX 26 changed the 'post crash' page with the list of windows and pages. It was a real HTML page with links for each page. Now it isn't (and blows)

This used to be a real HTML page and it isn't any more. THis choice was pure isiocy consider how peopel used that page every day (try taking to your users for a change).
The pages listed on that 'post crash page' used to be actual LINKS (you could right click them &
manually open them in another tab - and most peope DID that every day). You could also (and I did this a lot) drag a second
copy of the page, into a new tab (to keep track of all the pages I had not wanted to open)
Now the pages are no longer links. You cannot right-click them.
The thing in the probser is no longer a page that I can drag into a new tab.
Roll the version back and throw this one in the bin...and have a good long talk with your developers about the definition of
'STUPIDITIY'
Then I try to type anything in the addres bar it is suppose to repoond with the history of old things I have types in the past, or
search for what I type (and in some cases I think it tyes to convert it intoa URL). However it no longer does any of these
things. When I type in the ADDRESS BAR ONLY, I do not get all of my letters to appear. I have to type into a notepad or
into the search and to copy and paste to go to a URL. Nothing that is typed into the address bad responds normally at all
anymore, and I am fairly certain there are no new addons on this machine at all. It does not matter which things I disable. It
still does this. W of course points the finger back at a change to FIREFOX. I wich I could just sitct with one stable release
forever but the MOZILLA folk thing it is best to force peopel awy from a working broswer release to a horrible one (due to it
being out of date).
FIREFOX 26.0 has 'issues' (ie new *features*/bugs)
1) History is no longer accurate. My Proof? This machine is the primary one for the entire family (the only PC working). It is
logged in with same user every time and never has its history cleared. It now January 7 so I ought to have a list of all of last
months browing available to me.
However, according to FIREFOX history, in all of December 2013, the entire family only went to 51 primary URL's. None of
the official TV sites I use to get episodes are listed. None of the official movie sites I use are listed. The primary URL for
ebay is not listed. Only 1 out of our 4 weather sites that I use (at least once a week) are listed. Only 1 of our 3 FINANCE
sites is listed. There ought to be several; hundred root URLs listed.
Please fix history as this change seriously "blows greasy chunks"
PROBLEM (a stupid change in the new FIREFOX version)
FOr a long time, after a crash you got a useful page (a real HTML page) which gave you a list of all of your last sessions
'winwos and tabs' that were open when the browser crashed. there were certain ways of using this page that are no longer
able to be done.
The old method was wonderful as it had this behavior :
*** The old method for displaying your 'Recovered Tabs' allowed you to :
a) right click an individual item and open it in a tab without getting rid of that lovely window of your previous session of
'recovered windows and tabs '.
2) drag the URL for the entire window of 'recovered windows and tabs ' to a new tab (to make a second copy) so that you
could select just a few of them to open as a group, and stil have the old list handy.
You can no longer do either of these things. The 'recovered windows and tabs ' page no longer has links in it and can no longer be dragged, so you cant select a few of them to use, and keep the rest around for later. NOW - once you choose which pages to open the window is gone forever (can can't get a second copy).
People used to make a copy of the page for later use (with a drag)
we also used to open pages with a right click (which no longer functions
This new method seriously blows big greasy chunks. A parge loss in function has occurred.
Put things back as they were. 26 is full of terrible changes that NOBODY likes. It also has a lot of bugs (history is not reliable at all)

(1) Firefox's built-in post-crash page has not been a real HTML page for a long time (for example, from the time of Firefox 22, see: [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/968212 Want to save LOTS of versions of "Restore Session.xht" from the "oops ..." page for later use]). If you had this working differently with Firefox 25, that might have been created by an extension.
You can check to see whether extensions are disabled or need an update on the Add-ons page. Either:
* Ctrl+Shift+a
* orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. The disabled extensions cluster toward the bottom of the list. To poll for updates, use the "gear" button above the list and choose Check for Updates.
If you used the Reset feature (or Firefox automatically did a reset due to some problem during upgrading), you will need to reinstall missing extensions. The reset feature creates a folder on the desktop named Old Firefox Data. Do you have that folder? There may be data you can recover from it.
(2) There are many ways for history to get cleared, both internal to Firefox and external. Could you double-check your Privacy settings?

Firefox normally accumulates months of history. However, some of Firefox's database sizes are based on disk space available. If your hard drive is very full, Firefox might reduce the amount of history stored.

I have a big problem after the HTTPService send the code and stores it in database.
Every time I catch the htmlText from RichTextEditor, he is putting a strange tag. I need to clean these tags.
I send this HTML code (htmlText from RichTextEditor) and store in the database.
In another moment I want to retrieve this code and throw in a TextArea.- this is the objetives, but I had a problem with this.

This problem isn't with Adobe Flex. This problema is because PHP configuration at PHP.ini
When on, all ' (single-quote), " (double quote), \ (backslash) and NULL characters are escaped with a backslash automatically.
"Quando ligada, qualquer ' (aspas simples), " (aspas duplas), \ (barra invertida) e NULL será colocado uma barra-invertida antes (' vira \') automaticamente".

What is or isn't possible on iOS? (Not having Loader, loadBytes(), external swfs, etc)

My basic question is: "What are the classes which we should not use for iOS using the packager."
I have been trying for a few days trying to get a simple Flash app to run on the iPad. A very simple app (with sound!) with just 2 classes works fine (Performance is a whole other issue. We will get to that). But if I try anything else, all I get is a white/black screen on the iPad. So it would be really nice to know what classes, functions, etc we CANNOT use for the Packager.
I have fairly simple app (not as simple as 2 classes) which loads some art assets via URLRequest/Loader, puts them on the stage. Fairly common standard practice in AS3.
I've read about not able to load an external file using the Packager. So to fix the situation of loading assets, I have looked into the [embed] tag, which seems to work. I hope the blogger doesn't mind, but this page is an excellent source on what works and doesn't work with the [embed] tag in it's various flavors: http://www.richardleggett.co.uk/blog/index.php/2010/03/08/flash_builder_and_flash_pro_asse t_workflows. For example, AS3 in a swf is stripped out from an external swf using [embed].
The best way to load an external swf file for iOS seems to be using [embed] with "application/octet-stream" and load the swf through ByteArray (Option #4 in the link above). This works great on the PC. HOWEVER, on iPad, it fails. The [embed] tag works on the iPad with the other ways, so my guess is that loadBytes() does not work. Is this true Adobe/Flash guys? Can you confirm this?
My initial question is "why is this not allowed on iOS?". If it is because of the fact that it uses a Loader, can it be changed so it's not using a Loader to construct a MovieClip? I have a ByteArray with the raw swf/MovieClip data. Why can't I construct a MovieClip from it without going through Loader?
This loadBytes() failure seems to be the only thing preventing me from using the normal pipeline of Flash development in loading external assets. If there are other ways people have found, please share!
Now on to performance. Adobe, can you post some examples/samples of code which runs at decent performance? Like a "tech demo" of what is possible using the Packager running on iPad/iPhone. That would be extremely helpful for everyone. I have done a lot of the optimizing suggestions on various sites and pages ( and by Adobe http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash/articles/optimize_content_ios.html), but I am not seeing the 30 fps performance that is MORE than possible on iPhone/iPad. Displaying and moving around Bitmaps (I don't use any vector graphics) should be blazing fast. Quake runs on iPad without any problems and that code is 10 years old. Moore's law dictates that drawing Bitmaps using CPU should be faster than a 3D engine written 10 years ago... I am trying out the new iOS 4.2 which is supposed to be "significantly" better, but I am still stuck on loadBytes().
So at this point, I am blocked on loadBytes() and my performance for a simple app which draws a few Bitmaps and MovieClips is terrible. I am hopeful some people out there have figured out some solution (there are lots of clever people out there) and I will stumble on to something. But being forced to go native Objective-C seems to be my only option at this point.
In summary, here are the questions I would like to ask the Adobe/Flash group for some more help/information/advise:
- Why is Loader not allowed on iOS? Is it a technical limitation of the hardware/os/Flash? Will it never be supported? What is the future of this class on iOS?
- Why is loadBytes() not allowed on iOS? I have the raw embedded data in memory. I don't need to make a remote call so security should not be an issue. Can I create a MovieClip without using Loader?
- Why is AS3 stripped from the timeline when a Symbol is retrieved using [embed]? Maybe this is the same reason loadBytes() fails, but if I could use [embed] and get a copy of the Symbol, that is what I need. (There are issues with the mx.core.MovieClipLoaderAsset/Asset, but it is better than being blocked by loadBytes())
- What are some apps you guys have written that we can use to compare PC vs iOS? Again, a "tech demo" or sample code of what you as experts in Packager for iOS have done which runs at decent framerate (30+fps) would be of tremendous help. If the Adobe/Flash group hasn't gotten the current Packager for iOS to handle more than 50+ 2D Bitmaps on screen running at 30+fps, that would be good to know. Please let us know what the experts and owners of your software are capable of getting the most throughput using the Packager. I'd hate to sound a bit fed up/angry, but I think you are wasting a lot of people's time and energy with a piece of software that, to me, seems like it was a bit early to release. Flash can do some great things. If it can do it on iOS, even better. But PROVE it to us that it's possible, before having your customers run into barriers imposed on us by trial and error.

Back to your main point, loaders are working, what isn't working for you is accessing of things in the library of a successfully loaded swf, that have been set to Export for ActionScript. That means that the swf you have loaded has an ActionScript Class, to represent the library symbol. iOS Flash apps are native ARM code, and don't include the virtual machines that a browser plugin has, and so it's not able to interpret ActionScript. That may be why it would fail.
Now, I can think of at least a couple of reasons why you might want to have external swfs with elements that you want to reuse in the main swf. One would be if you're intending to make a lot of them, like say if you wanted to have an Asteroids game and the ability to use artwork from a set of different swfs. Another reason might be if you want to skin your interface, by taking specific elements from the loaded swf and using them in the main swf. That way you could have artists preparing those swfs for you, and you just include them in your package, and load the one you want.
There is a way to do either of those things. The second one can be done by having the item as a named symbol on the stage of the loaded swf. With a to-be-loaded swf named "inner.swf", that has a movieclip on its stage named "mc1", this script in the main swf would load that external swf and use its symbol on the main swf's stage, without having to make the inner swf's symbol use ActionScript:

So, the thing to learn is that a native ARM code application does not have an ActionScript interpreter in it, and if you need to do something that normally requires interpreting ActionScript, find another way to do it.
