Infopath & SharePoint 2013 : infopath hyperlonk published to form library always displays complete url instead of text ?

hi , I am in need to provide a link to sub webs provisioned when an item is added to form library.
hyperlink has to fields 1. Value for url 2.text to display text
but it always displays url in form library item.
Ahsan Ranjha

Hi Ahsan,
Sorry for the late reply, we can update the "Project Link" url and "Project Link text" in a workflow variable in a Hyperlink field format ([Project Link], [Project Link Text]), and then update to another Hyperlink type column
in this list, then it should show the url as expected as hyperlink field in InfoPath form.
Note: There is a blank space after the comma in the hyperlink field format.

  • Unable to get the SharePoint 2013 List names using Client object model for the input URL

Please can you help with this issue.
We are not able to get the SharePoint 2013 List names using Client object model for the input URL.
What we need is to use default credentials to authenticate user to get only those list which he has access to.
    clientContext.Credentials = Net.CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials
But in this case we are getting error saying ‘The remote server returned an error: (401) Unauthorized.’
Instead of passing Default Credentials, if we pass the User credentials using:
    clientContext.Credentials = New Net.NetworkCredential("Administrator", "password", "contoso")
It authenticates the user and works fine. Since we are developing a web part, it would not be possible to pass the user credentials. Also, the sample source code works perfectly fine on the SharePoint 2010 environment. We need to get the same functionality
    working for SharePoint 2013.
We are also facing the same issue while authenticating PSI(Project Server Interface) Web services for Project Server 2013.
Can you please let us know how we can overcome the above issue? Please let us know if you need any further information from our end on the same.
    Sample code is here: http://www.projectsolution.com/Data/Support/MS/SharePointTestApplication.zip

    Hi Mistry,
I sure that CSOM will authenticate without passing the
"clientContext.Credentials = Net.CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials" by default. It will take the current login user credentials by default. For more details about the CSOM operations refer the below link.

  • Backup Sharepoint 2013 SP1 Farm with SQL 2014 RTM "Always On" using System Center 2012 R2 Data Protection Manager

Is backing up and Restoring SharePoint 2013 SP1 Farm with SQL 2014 RTM  "Always On" High Availability now supported using "System Center 2012 R2 Data Protection Manager"?
    I cannot find information anywhere.
    Regards,

This is a DPM supportability issue, I believe. Last I heard, no it was not supported. SharePoint 2013 does not support SQL 2014 until the April 2014 CU. The CU should be out soon, although it appears to have been delayed (usually comes out on Patch Tuesday,
    which was this past Tuesday).

  • Unable to Manage custom forms in Exchange 2013 Public Folders or Organizational Forms Library

We've been doing custom forms development for many years and many versions of Exchange.  This Exchange 2013 presented me with this new problem.  We use Exchange 2013 with Cumulative Update 5, and Outlook 2007, 2010 and 2013.  This problem
happens on all versions of the latest patched Outlooks.
    1) I have successfully created a Public Folder and an Organizational Forms Library
    2) I have granted myself "Owner" privilege to the entire public folder in both the IPM_Subtree and the Non_IPM_Subtree
    3) I can publish forms into a Public Folder and the Organizational Forms Library
But, after the form is published, I can't manage it.  The COPY, UPDATE, DELETE, PROPERTIES, and SAVE AS buttons are greyed out.
This does not happen for anything in my Personal Forms, my Mailbox or anything in Favorites that are locally cached.
Since the Organizational Forms Library cannot be "Cached" by putting it in Favorites, there seems to be NO way to even delete a form that is published to there.
The closest link that describes a similar (maybe same) problem is
    http://www.michev.info/Blog/Post/14/Unable-to-manage-Forms-in-Outlook
    A) Anybody else have the same problem?
    B) Since it seems I only have control over forms in my Mailbox, and since Public Folders are suppose to be an mailbox, does anyone know how to setup a Public Folder so that you can login to it and attach it as a mailbox?
    C) Does anyone know how to make the Organizational Forms Library cached locally so it can be managed?
    J Awe TechBldrs Inc. www.TechBldrs.com

Easy steps to reproduce the problem.
    1) create a public folder subfolder (do not create a Favorite)
    2) make yourself and OWNER
    3) publish a form to the subfolder (Open a any form and save it with any name)
    4) use the Form Manager select the public folder subfolder that you are an OWNER of
    5) select a form and see if the buttons are GRAYED out.
PLEASE TRY THIS ON YOUR OWN SYSTEMS TO VERIFY THE PROBLEM.

  • Internet Explorer 11 and SharePoint 2013 Standard - Web Parts and Calendar Don't Display/Render Correctly

    Hello everyone.
I am currently running a fully patched (Service Pack 1) version of SharePoint Standard 2013 On Premises. I am having 2 problems that are reproducible on both Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 on multiple computers when running Internet Explorer 11 (fully updated
through Windows Update). The issues are "fixed" when running compatibility view in the browser or using Chrome/Firefox.
    The issues are as follows:
Issue 1 Calendar view does not display correctly
Issue 2 Web parts do not display correctly when editing a page.
    Picture of calendar
Webpart "edit menu dropdown" in upper right corner is replaced with 2 up arrows. Clicking minimizes web part.
Is there any word on a fix for this? Is this something only I am experiencing? Is there an issue with my SharePoint server? I would hate to have to uninstall IE11 from 300 machines and install IE10.
    Thanks

There are a few critical issues
Pages will not enter edit mode. You will click Settings > Edit Page and the page will simply refresh but will not change over into edit mode. Seems to only affect pages with
    Web Part Zones.
Calendar will not enter edit mode.
Web Part Properties cannot be modified. If you are able to get into edit mode (you can edit wiki pages) you will not be able to modify existing Web Parts by using the Web Part
Properties panel. Instead you will see a really weird collapse button that looks like it is coming from the mobile view but you cannot modify web part properties… even through the ribbon controls.
I cannot use the import spreadsheet app, the error says it is not supported with the current browser.
When I hoover over a “people” field I cannot see their information.
I had all these capabilities with IE9
This suggestion I found online appears to fix issues 1-3.

    To run in compatibility mode

  • How to programmatically publish an Infopath form to sharepoint form library

    Hi all,
I am in trouble because i am trying to find out a solution in C# by which i can publish my infopath form (without any help of publishing wizard in InfoPath form).
For this i seen that when we publish it through the publishing wizard it creates a new form library on the sharepoint site and then publish the form in this form library, so as same i want to do this by code.
I have created a code which creates a form library on sharepoint site but i am unable to publish my infopath form in it because i didn't find any method for publish in C#.for this I searched on google(blogs and forums etc..).I have found only upload method
    but i want publish method.
    Thanks in advance.
    Vishal

    Hi Mike,
Thanks for your reply, I have uploaded the infopath from in form library by code as:
    uploaddoc();
    public
    static
    void uploaddoc()
    using
    (SPSite
    site = new
    SPSite("http://sharepoint
    site/"))
    using (SPWeb
    myWeb = site.OpenWeb())
//Test3 is library's name, in which we want to upload the InfoPath form
    SPList docLib = myWeb.Lists["Test3"];Stream
    fileStream = System.IO.File.Open(@"c:\desktop\Testform.xsn",System.IO.FileMode.Open);
    myWeb.Files.Add("test3/testform.xsn",
    fileStream);
    docLib.Update();
could you please describe that how can I associate my uploaded form to this form library

  • InfoPath Field Promoted to SharePoint Form Library Cannot Edit

    Greetings,
I have an InfoPath 2013 form with a field named "Form Stage".  It's purpose is to maintain a process stage that is subsequently used by a SharePoint Designer 2013 workflow.
When the "Form Stage" field is not promoted to the column in the form library, my workflow is able to access and change the field value.  However, when I promote the InfoPath field to the SharePoint form library field, the workflow is unable
    to change that field's value?
    Does this sound correct?
My goal is to create a state machine type process where the form and workflow work together based on the stage it is in.  What is the best practice approach for accomplishing this?
    Thank you!

    Hi,
you just have to change your promoted fields in InfoPath to "allow for editing in SharePOint."
Go re-publish the form template, and when you get to the stage where you promote columns, you'll need to click on each field individually and check the box at the bottom that allows them to be edited in SharePoint.  Then, your SPD workflows will be able
to update the fields, but be aware that users will also be able to edit the fields without opening the form itself.  Because of this, I typically set my columns to be "hidden" in the content type so that they show in the views but not on the
    properties page.

  • Multiple versions of same InfoPath Template in Forms library

Using SP 2010 and InfoPath 2010.  When I create an IP template today, say with 20 fields and publish to a Forms library then my Forms library will use this template as the default template, all good.  6 months later I need to add a field and re-publish,
so any new forms will use the template with 21 fields, which is what we want.  But, I want my old forms to always display in their original version, I don't want to see 21 fields displayed for a form I saved 6 months ago.  This pattern will repeat,
next 6 months I add two more fields, and so on.  It is vitally important that the user see only what was in affect at the time they saved the form in the past, saved 20 fields, see 20 fields, when they click on an old saved form.  The analogy is
if I scan and upload an image of a Word document to a document library, and change my Word document with more content, I wouldn't expect my scanned image to change.  Silly analogy, but illustrative.
We may even want to delete a field instead of adding a field when we update the template.  But we would still want any old forms to display in their original state - no missing fields.
So what's the best way to continue to make changes to a template over time, deliver it to a Forms library, yet have the existing forms still open with their original layout, not with the latest template?
    Thanks,
    KevinHou

Got it solved, sorry.  But for anyone else wishing to do this:
    1. Publishing the form from InfoPath Designer, select SharePoint server, and "Site Content Type"
    2. Select "Create a new content type", and base the CT on "Form"
    3. Provide a name like "My IP Form CT ver 1"
    4. Specify the location of where to publish the template file, for now I just put it in Shared Documents.  You'd probably want a dedicated library just for this, set permissions, etc. so no one can mess with it.
    5. Click Next onward to Finish.  The content type is now in the Site Content gallery and available to add to a Forms library as a content type.
I then go to my Forms library and add this content type, make it the default, and hide "Form" CT.
When I need to make a new version, I update my template in IP, save it as version 2, and then walk through the Publish options again, don't do quick publish.  When I get to the relevant publish screens I select Create new content type again, base it
on "Forms" again, provide a new name "My IP Form CT ver 2", and publish to the Shared Documents library again.  Then I go to my Forms library, add this new content type "My IP Form CT ver 2" and make it the default, then
I hide "My IP Form CT ver 1" content type.  Now, both content types are still associated with the library, any new forms will use ver 2 because it is the only one not hidden and is set to default, yet any previously existing forms will continue
to use ver 1 and display using that content type (and of course the template used for that ver 1 content type, which is my ver 1 IP form!).  Cool, got what I need.

  • Sharepoint 2010 Workflow successful: Sharepoint 2013 Workflow UNsuccessful:

    Observation 1
    1. I created 2 workflows that write "completed" to the workflow history
    a. 1 workflow uses sp2010 workflow manager
    b. 1 workflow uses sp2013 workflow manager
    2. sp2010 workflow works fine; it will start either manually or automatically (when a new item is created ) without issue; "completed' is written to the log as expected. Good.
    3. sp2013 does not start automatically (when a new item is created ); when trying to start manually I get error message "Something went wrong. To try again, reload the page and then start the workflow." Which I do, but still fails.
    Bad.
4.On Workflows.aspx I can see the links to start the 2 workflows manually.
    a. When I hover over the sp2010 workflow link I can see something that look like this:
    http://playground/sites/falcontt/_layouts/15/IniWrkflIP.aspx?List={ae95de8e-508b-4aa6-b4b6-490288e35e9f}&ID=53&ItemGuid={697E4218-D889-4FB8-A27B-D188F5D93250}&TemplateID={199c3d86-89a8-4286-b285-37e2d2067b52}&Source=http%3A%2F%2Fplayground%2Fsites%2Ffalcontt%2FLists%2FTrouble%2520Tickets%2Fall%2520requests%2Easpx
    b. But when I hover over the sp2013 workflow link I can see something that look like this:
    javascript:StartWorkflow4('949cb889-9b46-4959-9673-842e60cc5a42', '53', '{697E4218-D889-4FB8-A27B-D188F5D93250}')
Should this link also look similar to the sp2010 workflow link? If so, do you have any idea why it is different?
    Observation 2
In Sharepoint Designer 2013, when I goto Navigation -> Workflows and click on the 2010 workflow, I see a file listed under "Forms" that looks like this "sp2010 test workflow.xsn". By the way the name of the workflow happens
    to be "sp2010 test workflow".
But when I goto Navigation -> Workflows and click on the 2013 workflow, I see a NO file listed under "Forms". Should I see "sp2013 test workflow.xsn" listed there? If yes, can you think of why it is not listed there?
I saved the workflow debug logs from Event Viewer but won't share that info here unless necessary, to avoid making things look more complicated than they have to be.
Thanks for any comments suggestions, tips, questions, anything, etc.
Thanks and have a great weekend.
    George

    Hi George,
First of all, I'd like to clarify that workflow manager is dedicated for SharePoint 2013 workflow platform. SharePoint 2010 workflow is integrated in SharePoint server, while 2013 workflow is based on a new platform named workflow manager server.
In SharePoint 2013 designer, 2010 workflow has forms while 2013 workflow doesn't have forms.
For this issue, I suspect there is something incorrect with workflow manager. From the error message "Something went wrong. To try again, reload the page and then start the workflow",  please flush the DNS cache via executing
IPCONFIG /FLUSHDNS, and restart workflow manager related services such as below, then recreate 2013 workflow to test the issue:

  • Benefit of SharePoint 2013 sql server membership provider

Hi All,  Please share your thoughts for this..
We are working with SharePoint 2013 public facing website with Form based authentication. Anyone can register and start using our site. We are storing
all the user related data in Active directory. As of now we are having around 25000 users in our portal . We are planning to move all external user information from AD to SQL membership table. Could you please suggest me to benefit of using SQL membership
    instead AD

performance-wise, they're pretty similar either way (given a single dedicated role server).
security-wise, compared to SQL, AD makes some data easier to access (since LDAP queries can expose data to any user), but harder to hack (obtain copy of hashed passwords)
As far as management, there is NO management interface for the SQL membership provider... including USERS (reset password, lock/unlock account, etc), not just groups.
As far as SSO technology, SqlMembershipProvider is absolutely NOT an SSO technology. Not to say that it can't be used for logins, but authentication and single sign-on are two very different goals.
I would also argue that since you can't decrypt the AD passwords, the move to SQL is going to be a little difficult for users.
And, have you considered adding another AD server instead? With a little bit of fiddling around, you can add a dedicated AD server and prioritize SP authentication requests where you want.

  • SharePoint 2013 Business Intelligence

    Hi All, <o:p></o:p>
I read and watched a couple of TechNet vidoes and some external websites about SP2013 Business Intelligence. Most of websites used AdventureWorks Database
    to show the BI capabilities.<o:p></o:p>
However, we have our own Excel files that we need to display on SharePoint 2013 including KPIs, charts, reports and will be used by managers.<o:p></o:p>
    I have a couple of questions: <o:p></o:p>
Q1: I need to design tables in
SQL Server 2012 (will give the database name to be BI) with information of Excel files. Is this approach correct before I embark designing database tables?<o:p></o:p>
    Q2: After
I design the tables, I need to show end users their information using BI database in the SharePoint 2013 out of the box forms to type in their user
details. This user information will eventually become a business intelligence centre and shown to managers with KPIs and charts. How could I display SP2013 Forms with custom
SQL Server 2012 database that I would be creating? Can I use business connectivity services to display external database? Or any other way to display user information from custom database? <o:p></o:p>
    Please advise.

    1. You can, but you can also leave the data in Excel and use PowerPivot services to display it.
    2. For BI, BCS won't be enough,as you'll typically will display the info in some type of report. You can do that in PowerPivot or display that data in an SSRS report (Report Services in SharePoint integrated mode). The latter is better for KPIs. FInally,
you could use PerformancePoint to create KPI dashboards, but right now I'm thinking you don't need to use that in this situation, it provides more than it seems you're needing.

  • "External Data Refresh Failed" in Excel Workbook in SharePoint 2013

      Hi Everyone,
I hope someone can help me sort this out. I wasn't sure if this should be submitted to SQL Server 2012 or SharePoint 2013 but I think I have ruled out an actual SQL issue here.
I have a test SharePoint 2013 Farm installed on one server.  On that server we have SQL Server 2012 Standard (Database Engine Only) installed as one instance for SharePoint 2013.  SharePoint 2013 is installed as Enterprise.
On another server I have SQL Server 2012 Enterprise installed I have both the Database Engine and Analysis Services installed on that server in one Instance.
I have created a new Analysis Services Cube and stored in on that server using VS 2012 Data Tools.   I then use Office 2013 Excel and create a new Pivot Table and bring in that data into that workbook.  I save that workbook to my desktop and
can click on the DATA tab and do a "Refresh All" and the data is refreshed with no problem.
I then Save that Workbook to SharePoint 2013 in my Business Center documents library. I then try to do a Data Refresh and get the following error: External Data Refresh Failed. We were unable to refresh one or more data connections in the workbook. The following
connections failed to refresh: servername ConnectionName.
Let me tell you a little bit about how I have my SharePoint 2013 setup.
In Application Management ==> Secure Store Service - I have a Target Application Id setup with an AD account name and password.
In Application Management ==> Excel Services Application Settings - I an using an Unattended Service Account that is pointing to the Target Application ID that I setup in Secure Store Service.
Now in SQL Server 2012. I have made the AD account name and password a SYSADMIN account (because nothing seemed to work) and mapped that login to my Database that I created my cube from.
I have went into the Properties of my Analysis Server on SQL Server 2012 and out that AD userid in the Security Page as a Server Administrator.
Now let me tell you the real kicker here.
I also have a Sharepoint 2010 farm that we have been testing for about a year.  This is something we wanted to go into production with but now have decided we will deploy our new production site on 2013.
This has the same setup only I am using SQL Server 2008 R2 as my database for SharePoint 2010, and am using SQL Server 2008 R2 on another server and instance for Database Engines and Analysis Server.
I have already created a cube on the SQL 2008 r2 Analysis Server using BIDS.
I created a Excel Pivot Table based on that cube and save it to the SharePoint 2013 site.
I then put the SSS AD account name on the SQL Server 2008 Analysis Services Security as Administrator.
I pull up that Excel Workbook and go into Data and do a Refresh All and it works.
I then bring up my copy of the Excel workbook I created for my SQL Server 2012 Cube (this does not work on SP 2013) and save it to my Business Center in SP 2010.  This will do a DATA Refresh on that workbook.
Another thing that I have done, (we have Office Web Apps Server running on the SP 2013 side), is set SPWOPISuppressSetting -view -extension xlsx so that when I bring up the Excel spreadsheet in 2013 it has a url with the xlviewer instead of the WOPI
    url.
OK.  I have went through all of my setup.   I am must wondering if I missed something in my install for this.  HELP.   There can't be that much difference in the installation between 2010 and 2013.
    Thanks in Advance everyone.

After many hours of research and totally burning down my SQL Server 2012 server because of the many changes I made to it, I finally found the issue that caused this and specifically why SP would not work with SQL Server 2012 Analysis Services.  This
time I reinstalled SQL Server 2012 from scratch again but only put SP1 on at this time.  I can't be completely sure this fixed the issue since I have not put any of the other CU  on the box.  But, after the reinstall, everything seemed to work
perfectly from the Excel Services side.
The issue I then ran into was that I could not get my PerformancePoint Services to work with my Cubes that were created on SQL Server 2012.  I received Error Message " The DataSource Provider for data sources of type 'ADOMD.NET' is not registered" on
my SharePoint 2013 Server Event Viewer.
I finally found this post on the issue:
    http://yossidahan.wordpress.com/2012/08/14/cant-get-ssas-databases-to-appear-in-performance-point-dashboard-designer-check-you-adomd-net-version/
Seems that SP 2013 is built to use SQL Server 2008 R2 Analysis Services, so you need to install the ADOMD.net from SQL Server 2008 in order for it to work.   But make sure you install Version 10 since if you install any other it doesn't seem to
    work.
I feel like I wasted a whole month tracking these issues down, and I haven't been able to test PowerView, PowerPivot or SSRS yet.  I hope there is not any more.
