Hi Saravana:
You could use simply System.out.println(..) at your Java code and see the output at the .trc files generated for your Oracle session.
Or better than this adding Java Util Logging messages at your code, to see how to use JUL API at the OJVM please see this blog post [Using JUL API inside the OJVM|http://marceloochoa.blogspot.com/2007/11/getting-logging-entering-exiting-and.html].

PD: ora-0600 generally are associated with RDBMS bugs, but these bugs can be bypassed by replacing the code which throws the exception by other with a workaround.

Migrating from Informix 4GL to Oracle

How difficult is it,to convert existing Informix 4gl code to Oracle. I'm searching
for a product that will take an existing
Unix text based app. and make it look like
Windows. This app. contains hundreds of
modules as well as hundreds of custom functions.

There seems to be a gap between the support for Transparent Gateway reg. Oracle8 versions and SQLServer 7.
So far I've only found TG:s up to Oracle 8.0.3, next step is Oracle 8.1.x . I'm currently planning to run a linked replication between a Ora 8.0.6 running on HP/UX and SLQ Server 7.0. Would that work with a TG for 8.0.3 ?

Convert Informix "with resume" feature in stored procedures to Oracle PL/SQL

I am trying to convert an Informix stored procedure with the "return value with resume"
feature into Oracle PL/SQL.
So far, all I have gathered is that I need to use packages and reference cursors.
What is hazy is that how and when does this value get returned? Is it on the execution of the FETCH statement or do I need to specify a RETURN statement.
If anybody has any ideas or better yet any
concrete examples, please email me.

Error while trying to call external web service from oracle PL/SQL 10.2 g

Hi I am trying to call an external web service from oracle PL/SQL .I am getting following run time error when I try to set the opeartion style.
But as per the oracle documentation this is one of the 2 valid values.

Error in setting datasource location from oracle to sql server

I have an application that uses a table named "events" which conflicts the sys.events view in master database in sql server. The error i was encountering is that, whenever i tried to set the datasource location of my crystal report from its previous connection oracle to sql server, i get an error saying that some of the fields has not been updated because theres no matching fields to the current connection. It seems that crystal is pointing on sys.events view on master db and not on the events table in myDb database. How can I tell crystal reports to not pick up sys.events and get only myDB.events table.

The exact statement in oracle side which causing this error (O2SS0050:
Conversion of identifier 'to_date(VARCHAR2, CHAR)' is not supported.) is below:

Statement causing error O2SS0050:
Conversion of identifier 'regexp_replace(VARCHAR2, CHAR)' is not supported is below.
nCount2:= length(regexp_replace(sDataRow,'[^,]'));
So there is no statement which is using to_date(VARCHAR2,
CHAR) and regexp_replace(VARCHAR2, CHAR) in as such. 'MON-YYYY' and '[^,]'
are CHAR values hence SSMA is unable to convert it from varchar2 to char.
Regarding SYSDATE issue, you mean to put below code in target(SQL) side in SSMA ?

I am trying to reuse a code in JDeveloper to get XML from a query. I have copied the code from a method and created a new method with the copied code and changed it. The problem is that when I run the old code I now get following error:

i've copied the same code into another method and only changed the sql-statment to be used and the stylesheet to use to transform the xml. Is something wrong with that?
Another question: if the xsl refers to a xsd but wihtout any path where should it be?

Actually, having looked at Metalink, seems that although this message may be accurate and correct,
it has been 'introduced' as part of the 9i JDBC driver.
So, I used the 8i JDBC driver I happened to have instead and that worked fine.

Error while converting schema from oracle to SQL server

Hello,
I am getting following error while converting schema from oracle to SQL server using SSMA.
I get Errors 1-3 while migrating procedures and error 4 while migrating a table.
1- O2SS0050: Conversion of identifier 'SYSDATE' is not supported.
2- O2SS0050: Conversion of identifier 'to_date(VARCHAR2, CHAR)' is not supported.
3- O2SS0050: Conversion of identifier 'regexp_replace(VARCHAR2, CHAR)' is not supported.
4- O2SS0486: <Primary key name> constraint is disabled in Oracle and cannot be converted because SQL Server does not support disabling of primary or unique constraint.
Please suggest.

JS Validation for Drop down List is not working in Oracle PL/SQL Package

Hi All,
I am facing an issue with JavaScript validation done in Oracle PL SQL package.
System Requirement:
There is one screen which contains two fields viz. FLD 1 & FLD 2 and one 'Submit' button.
FLD 1 and FLD 2 fields are drop down list boxes.These are mandatory fields.
The screen is developed in Oracle Mod PL SQL package.
The html coding and java scripting are embedded in the respective Oracle PL SQL Package procedure which generates this screen,takes the input values provided by user,does the
field validations and submits the form.
Issue:
The javascript validation for FLD 2 dropdown is working successfully.
When the user leaves this field as blank,the embedded javascript pops up an error message 'Selection of FLD 2 is manadatory before submitting the form!'.
As FLD 1 is also a mandatory field,the javascripting validation should pop up the similar error message 'Selection of FLD 1 is manadatory before submitting the form!'.
But,this first field validation is not at all working.
The system allows to submit the form even if the 'FLD 1' is left blank.
The javascript code sysntax for validation of FLD 1 & FLD 2 drop down list boxes as follows:

Executing Pro*C/C++ generate code in Oracle 10g Express

I had developed my application using Pro*C/C++ in Oracle 10g Enterprise Edition Release 2 to generate the code to execute my SQL statements from the application program.
Problem 1:
Now, as I am trying to migrate my database to the Oracle 10g Express edition, my application failed to recompile as I'm unable to find the orasql10.lib and header files.
Question 1:
I would like to enquire if Oracle 10g express supports Pro*C/C++ and can the code generated in Oracle 10g Enterprise Edition be executed in Oracle 10g Express?
Problem 2:
I tried to copy the orasql10.lib and header files from Oracle 10g Enterprise Edition to Oracle 10g Express. The application is able to compile successfully, but it's unable to execute as an "no symbol loaded" error message occurred when the application trying to load for the oracle dll files.
Question 2:
Is there any work around to solve this problem?

Wee Teck,
I wouldn't go about copying files between Oracle installations, it's definitely not supported.
In theory you should be able to compile your Pro*C/C++ app in another Oracle home and run the resulting app against an XE instance.

OracleXMLSave class in the Oracle XDK is being used to load XML data into an 8170 database. The Java code is running in IBM WebSphere with container-managed transactions. When JTA is enabled with the Merant JDBC driver for Oracle, we get the following error when the XML is loaded:
oracle.xml.sql.OracleXMLSQLException: Cannot enable auto commit within JTS
transaction
     at java.lang.Throwable.fillInStackTrace(Native Method)
     at oracle.xml.sql.dml.OracleXMLSave.saveXML(OracleXMLSave.java:2213)
     at oracle.xml.sql.dml.OracleXMLSave.insertXML(Compiled Code)
This suggests the OracleXMLSave class is not aware of the fact that it is now operating in a JTS transaction where control is managed elsewhere. i.e. should also not attempt to commit or rollback, as this is the responsibility of the container.
Is there a property which needs to set to prevent the above or does the XDK not work with J2EE (JTS) transactions?.
If you have any useful comments, let me know. Testing the above presents me with a number of problems so if this is easily explained , let me know.

Clearly , there does seem to be something a bit odd with the above stack.
<Bug:1917808> mentions OracleXMLSave in context of plsql equivalent : dbms_xmlsave . i.e dbms_xmlsave is a wrapper around OracleXMLSave class.
disabling autocommit on connection as follows should help:
conn = DriverManager.getConnection("connect string","scott","tiger");
conn.setAutoCommit(false);
to disble auto commit and see if this has an effect.
This issue might be <Bug:1497506>. If disabling autocommit does not work then it appears that it could be this issue .

Problem when migrate Informix 9.4 to Oracle 10.2 by use OMWB 10.1.0.4

When I use OMWB to migrate Informix 9.4 to Oracle 10.2, I encounter many errors as follows:

But when I check the Source column length, it is not long then column length in Oracle actually. I don't know why....

"ROGER"."ABB_FILE"."ABB04" means in user "ROGER" schema, have a table "ABB04", and have a column named "ABB04".
So the column's name is "ABB04", not exceed 30 characters.
The table's description in Informix as follows:

abb04 char(30),
abb05 char(6),
abb06 char(1),
abb07 decimal(16,3) not null ,
