Initialising a list, with values - how to?

Hi
I want to create a list with some values already in it - how do you do this? I know the constructor is
List<Integer> = new ArrayList<Integer>();
but how would I create a new list already containing the following values at construction time?:
[244753217,613613369,415120695,355142652,134856040,478060706,331972076, 532347366,600207262]
Many thanks, Ron

Hi
Yes, but could you add all the numbers at once, and
my question is really in regard to initialising the
list in the first place!No it isn't. You think it is but it isn't.
There is a constructor whereby you can feed ArrayList another Collection and it will add the items of that collection to it's own list when it is constructed.
Of course you still have to initialize A collection at some point to do that. Which means in the end that you have to add items to a collection. So it all comes back to you really needing to do this at intialization and the answer is in the end you can't. But as I said you don't HAVE to do this and if you think you must you are mistaken.
If you continue to insist that you MUST do this then please post some formatted code that explains why and we can point out the flaws in your thinking.

    Hi Mark,
    After selecting data use this statement.
    DELETE it_table WHERE AFNAM is initial.

  • Error while populating drop down list with values from a database

    Hi all,
    I have a JSP page with a drop down list that is to be populated with values from a database.
    This is the code in my JSP file:
         <!-- Form for picking the floor -->
             <!-- Get the available floors -->
             <% ArrayList<Integer> floornumbers = dataManager.getAllFloorNumbers();
                Iterator<Integer> iterator = floornumbers.iterator(); %>
             <!-- Create the form for users to select the floor -->
             <form id="floorselectionform">
                  <input type="hidden" name="action" value="floorselected"/> <!-- Guides the servlet to redirect to the appropriate page -->
                  Select floor | <select name="floorselector" id="floorselector">
                       <% while (iterator.hasNext()) { %>
                       <option value="<%=iterator.next().intValue()%>"> <%=iterator.next().intValue()%> </option>
                       <% } %>
                  </select>
                  <input type="submit" value="Go!"/>
             </form>   The DataManager.java class simply forwards this to its respective Peer class, which has the code shown below:
          package seatplanner.model;
        import java.sql.Connection;
        import java.sql.ResultSet;
        import java.sql.SQLException;
        import java.sql.Statement;
        import java.util.ArrayList;
        /* This class handles all floor operations */
         public class FloorPeer
         /* This method returns all the floor numbers */
         public static ArrayList<Integer> getAllFloorNumbers(DataManager dataManager) {
            ArrayList<Integer> floornumbers = new ArrayList<Integer>();
            Connection connection = dataManager.getConnection();
            if (connection != null) {
              try {
                Statement s = connection.createStatement();
                String sql = "select ID from floor order by ID asc";
                try {
                  ResultSet rs = s.executeQuery(sql);
                  try {
                    while (rs.next()) {
                      floornumbers.add(rs.getInt(1));
                  finally { rs.close(); }
                finally {s.close(); }
              catch (SQLException e) {
                System.out.println("Could not get floor numbers: " + e.getMessage());
              finally {
                dataManager.putConnection(connection);
            return floornumbers;
         }  The classes compile properly, but when I load this page up in Tomcat it just freezes and does not load the form. I tested the DB connection and it works fine.
    What am I doing wrong in the JSP code?
    Thanks for the help in advance.
    UPDATE: I commented out the form, and added <%=floornumbers.size()%> right above the commented code to check if the ArrayList is indeed getting populated with the values from the database (the values are of type integer in the database). The page still freezes like before. I'm puzzled now :confused: .

    Wrong usage of Iterator.
    <!-- Form for picking the floor -->
             <!-- Get the available floors -->
             <% ArrayList<Integer> floornumbers = dataManager.getAllFloorNumbers();
                Iterator<Integer> iterator = floornumbers.iterator(); %>
             <!-- Create the form for users to select the floor -->
             <form id="floorselectionform">
                  <input type="hidden" name="action" value="floorselected"/> <!-- Guides the servlet to redirect to the appropriate page -->
                  Select floor | <select name="floorselector" id="floorselector">
                       <% while (iterator.hasNext()) {
                                    Integer inte = iterator.next();
                            %>
                       <option value="<%=inte.intValue()%>"><%=inte.intValue()%></option>
                       <% } %>
                  </select>
                  <input type="submit" value="Go!"/>
             </form>or make use of enhanced loop as you are already using J2SE 5.0+ for avoiding confusions.
    <!-- Form for picking the floor -->
             <!-- Get the available floors -->
             <% ArrayList<Integer> floornumbers = dataManager.getAllFloorNumbers(); %>
             <!-- Create the form for users to select the floor -->
             <form id="floorselectionform">
                  <input type="hidden" name="action" value="floorselected"/> <!-- Guides the servlet to redirect to the appropriate page -->
                  Select floor | <select name="floorselector" id="floorselector">
                       <% for(Integer inte:floornumbers) {%>
                       <option value="<%=inte.intValue()%>"><%=inte.intValue()%></option>
                       <%}%>
                  </select>
                  <input type="submit" value="Go!"/>
             </form>and a lot better thing would be making usage of basic Taglib provided with JSTL spec or struts spec which make life easier and simple.
    something like usage of <c:forEach/> or <logic:iterate/> would be lot better without writing a single scriptlet code.
    Hope that might help :)

  • SORTING Partner Result List with value Attributes

    Hi Gurus,
    I have added two value attribues in partner result list component and trying to sort the same in WEB UI, but is not working alothough I have logic in get_p and on_sort even.
    Please help if anyone knows how to sort by value attributes.
    Regards.

    Hi Ginger,
    the problem is because you have no real BOL attribute for your firstname and lastname that the values are not stored.
    what you need to do is sort via an internal table.
    here is how we did it:
      TYPES: BEGIN OF ltyp_cp_sort,
               sort_key1           TYPE string,
               sort_key2           TYPE string,
               sort_key3           TYPE string,
               bp_partner_guid     TYPE bu_partner_guid,
               entity              TYPE REF TO cl_crm_bol_entity,
             END OF ltyp_cp_sort,
             ttyp_cp_sort     TYPE TABLE OF ltyp_cp_sort.
      DATA: lt_cp_sort            TYPE ttyp_cp_sort,
            lt_cp_as_sort         TYPE ttyp_cp_sort,
            ls_cp_sort            TYPE ltyp_cp_sort,
            lr_entity             TYPE REF TO cl_crm_bol_entity,
            lv_wrapper            TYPE REF TO cl_bsp_wd_collection_wrapper,
            lv_value              TYPE string,
            lv_firstname          TYPE bu_namep_f,
            lv_lastname           TYPE bu_namep_l.
      DATA: lv_bp_partner_guid    TYPE bu_partner_guid,
            lv_partner            TYPE bu_partner.
      DATA: lv_archived            TYPE bu_xdele.
      FIELD-SYMBOLS:
            <cp_sort>             TYPE ltyp_cp_sort.

            lo_iterator           TYPE REF TO if_bol_bo_col_iterator.
      DATA: lv_number_cp          TYPE i.
    Fill up a table with the value of the sort attribute, the entity and its treenode attributes
      lv_wrapper = typed_context->result->get_collection_wrapper( ).
      lo_iterator = lv_wrapper->get_iterator( ).
      lr_entity ?= lv_wrapper->get_first( ).
      WHILE lr_entity IS BOUND.
        CLEAR ls_cp_sort.
        CLEAR: lv_value,
               lv_firstname,
               lv_lastname.
        CALL METHOD lr_entity->if_bol_bo_property_access~get_property_as_value
          EXPORTING
            iv_attr_name = 'CONP_GUID'
          IMPORTING
            ev_result    = lv_bp_partner_guid.
    here read the firstname and lastname of the BP again in variables
        CALL METHOD lr_entity->if_bol_bo_property_access~get_property_as_value
          EXPORTING
            iv_attr_name = 'ZFIRSTNAME'
          IMPORTING
            ev_result    = ls_cp_sort-sort_key1.
        CALL METHOD lr_entity->if_bol_bo_property_access~get_property_as_value
          EXPORTING
            iv_attr_name = 'ZLASTNAME'
          IMPORTING
            ev_result    = ls_cp_sort-sort_key2.
        TRANSLATE ls_cp_sort-sort_key1 TO UPPER CASE.
        TRANSLATE ls_cp_sort-sort_key2 TO UPPER CASE.
        ls_cp_sort-bp_partner_guid = lv_bp_partner_guid.
        ls_cp_sort-entity          ?= lr_entity.
        INSERT ls_cp_sort INTO TABLE lt_cp_sort.
        lr_entity ?= lv_wrapper->get_next( ).
      ENDWHILE.
      lv_wrapper->clear( ).
    Now you are sorting the way the user wants to sort is, so change this code according to your needs and the users input..
      SORT lt_cp_sort BY sort_key1 sort_key2.
      UNASSIGN <cp_sort>.
    After having sorted the list, add it back to the collection wrapper...
      LOOP AT lt_cp_sort ASSIGNING <cp_sort>.
        lv_wrapper->add( <cp_sort>-entity ).
      ENDLOOP.
    Hope this helps a bit...
    KR,
    Micha

  • SELECT LIST - with values after have values in other Select List

    My friends.
    I need a select list that is self - complemented, after being selected a value in another select list above.
    Can you help?
    pesquisar

    Good afternoon,
    Try this for the definition of your select list:
    select emp.emp_name as display_column,
           emp.emp_id as return_column
      from employees emp
    where emp.department = :P1_DEPT_NO
    order by emp.emp_name;This will look at the select_list called :P1_DEPT_NO, capture the value that is currently selected and then populate the EMPLOYEE select list based on the results. Just use a query like this as the one that defines your second select list.
    This seems to be a popular question. Search this forum for other information.

  • How to use List of values with bind variables on item?

    Hi
    I made a dynamic list of values with a bind variable as a provider. I tried to run the list, and it worked fine - i filled inn the bind variable when asked for, and i got a list of values to choose from.
    I would very much like to use this list of values as an attribute on a custom made item. My wish is that when creating the item you someplace write the bind variable, and the list will then turn up as wanted. (I could f.ex add the variable as an attribute on the page type)
    I tried to create a custom attribute and assign the list of values to it. It created an error when I then tried to add the attribute to the item.
    Does anyone have any idea on how to solve this?
    Any help appreciated!

    Hello Larry,
    You can use a select list with submit and create a branch to the page you want to go to.
    Hope that helps.

    2) The above vo added to applicationa module.
    3) created Controller class in the co class written code in processRequest();
    String vLookupType=pageContext.getParameter("LookupType");
    Serializable params={vLookupType};
    am.invokemethod("Initialize",params);
    4) In AM Impl Class invoke the VO
    5) In VO Impl class executed the query..
    But the above process working fine but when i give the value in lov text field like 'C' then press tab button the result will not showing instead of that i am getting error message, i want to implement standard lov functionality while implementing query with bind parameter.

  • How to add a list box with values for a ztable in SM30

    Hello Gurus,
                    I had created a table maintenance for Ztable and added many extra functionality to that. Now i would like to add a list box or check table for a field. Can i do that with out Regenerating my table maintenance. Please help me its..very urgent.

    Have referred this domain to the data element, this should be the Field type in ur table for the particular field.
    Eg: <b>SE11 > table name > fields-ZTEST > fieldtype-ZZTEST</b>
    ZZTEST in the data element > create a domain for this data element and in that specify teh value range.
    Save and activate it.
    Make sure that u regenerate teh table maintenance generator else u cant see the changes.
    Now if u press F4 u can see only thevalues specified, also u will see only the list box with values in SM30.
    Try this,please let me know if u face any difficulties.

    Use a form button instead of a link so that you can send it as a request parameter to the server. In the server side just use HttpServletRequest#getParameterValues() to obtain all values for the given parameter name. If you really need a link rather than a button, then use Javascript to submit the form on click of the link.
    That said, your design is bad. Java code belongs in Java classes, not in JSP files. Database access logic belongs in a DAO class. Business and controlling logic belongs in a Servlet class. Only presentation logic belongs in the JSP file. Avoid scriptlets as much as possible and use JSP EL and/or JSTL instead.

    Be careful what you assume - rarely are lists of values like this truly static.  One thing to keep in mind that arrays in sql server are tables.  So, one example is:
    set nocount on;
    /* represents the virtual inserted table in your trigger */
    declare @inserted table (itemcode char(4));
    insert @inserted (itemcode) values ('ABCD'), ('JJKL');
    select * from @inserted;
    select * from @inserted cross join (values (1), (30), (40), (45), (60)) as arrayx(value);

  • How to create table with list/map value binding

    I need to display few values in a tabular format. Is it possible to create adf table without having value binding to a VO object. Can I make a table with some list/map combination.
    I want to change the display format with minimum change in the application. Hence I am looking for a change to define a list/map and map it with the table.
    Following is the structure I need to display in.
    |     |Header1|Header2 |
    |_______|_______|_______|
    |Txt R1 |value 1 |Value 2 |
    |_______|_______|_______|
    |Txt R2 |Value 3 |value 4 |
    |_______|_______|_______|
    All the views does not have any relation. Hence I should not create a VO and adding rows of the VO object.
    Edited by: Jaykishan on Jun 10, 2011 11:34 AM

    Yes, you can do it. Create a pojo with the properties(column) you want to display in the table and create a list with the instances of pojos and then you can populate your table using the list.

  • How to get data from list of values (LOV) to be displayed in a text field ?

    Hi guys,
    I am very new to Oracle APEX so please spare me if it is a silly question. How can I get the selected values from a set of list of values (LOV) displayed in a text field (or text area or so) ? Fox example, in my form I create 4 items: STATE, COUNTY, STREET, ZIPCODE and all of them are LOV (list of values). I also create 2 buttons (ADD & REMOVE). Then I create a test field (or text area name SELECTED RECORD). Now here is what I want to do with my form:
    When I set the values for all 4 fields, I will click on the ADD button then I want those values be displayed in the text field.
    For example, if the selected values are:
    STATE = Alabama
    COUNTY = Abbeville
    STREET= 1 Street
    ZIPCODE = 36310
    And the ADD button is pressed. Then in the text field I want it displays like this:
    Alabama,Abbeville,1 Street,36310
    If I choose other values and click ADD again, a new line will be added into the text fields (text area). If I click the REMOVE button, then it will clear those two line in the text field.
    Would it be possible to do it? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    If you can live with the page being submitted and refreshed, make your ADD button do a submit with a request value of ADD and make your REMOVE button do a submit with a request value of REMOVE.
    Then create two computations (one firing with a condition of Request = ADD and the other firing with a condition of Request = REMOVE).
    In the ADD one, concatenate the values together into the text area (most likely a PL/SQL computation wiill be what you want). In the REMOVE one, set it to null with a PL/SQL computation.
    If you want it done without submitting the page, make the buttons each do a redirect to a URL but instead you will have to write two short javascript functions in the page HTML header to manipulate the field values. Each button would call each javascript function in an onclick event.
