InputStream in = uConnect.getInputStream();//Error

Hi,
It would be kind if anybody could tell me why i am getting :java.io.FileNotFoundException:
on line
InputStream in = uConnect.getInputStream();
I am created a URL object and passing that URL object in a URLConnection object.
String page_to_connect = "http://cd2iis02/inbi/admin/updatestatus.cfm?domain="+s_name+"&requestid="+sreq_id+"&status="+status+"&msg="+ smessage;
URL serverUrl = new URL(page_to_connect);
URLConnection uConnect = serverUrl.openConnection();
uConnect.setDoOutput(true);
uConnect.setUseCaches(false);
PrintStream out = new PrintStream
(uConnect.getOutputStream());
out.close();
//Filenotfound exception is thrown at the below line**
InputStream in = uConnect.getInputStream();
StringBuffer response = new StringBuffer();
int chr;
while((chr=in.read())!=-1) { // this is line number 94
response.append((char)chr);
     in.close();
     String sResponse = response.toString();
Can anyone tell me why is this exception coming ,Its not finding the file . Is there any way to rectify this error.
Any replies will be appreciated
Thanks
Regards,
John

i don't know if this will help but this is how i did it:
create a URL object out of the base url (i.e. not including the parameters).
get a connection
get the OutputStream
send the parameters through the connection
flush and close the OutputStream
then open the InputSteam.
do whatever....

    Dear All,
    I am trying to zip a file in the client side and sending it to the server side machine......there, i am trying to unzip it and writting it over there...for this, i am using a seperate program in the client side and in the server side.................................
    In the client program, after opening all the necessary streams and all formalities, i am using the code...
    "InputStream in = urlconnection.getInputStream();
    while (in.read()!=-1);"
    only if i use the above code, the zipped file is transfered to my server machine...but in this case, the link with the server is not getting disconnected...i mean the command prompt remains alive, without stopping...what i inferred is, my control is got into the above said "InputStream in = urlconnection.getInputStream();"...indefinitely...
    so i tried of removing the above said statement.....in this case, the zipped file is NOT getting written in my server machine....
    what to do???

    I can't, I'm using java.net.URL and java.net.URLConnection....Actually you are using HttpURLConnection.
    java.net.URLConnection is an abstract class. The concrete implementation returned by openConnection for an HTTP based URL is HttpURLConnection. So you might want to try the previous suggestion and otherwise examining the methods of HttpURLConnection to see how they might be helpful to you.

    Hi,
    I am experimenting with the following piece of code. I tried to run it in one windows machine and it works fine. thanks,

    As much as I understand from the readings in the forums, Runtime.exec can only run commands that are in files, not native commands.
    Hmm how do I explain that again?
    Here:
    Assuming a command is an executable program
    Under the Windows operating system, many new programmers stumble upon Runtime.exec() when trying to use it for nonexecutable commands like dir and copy. Subsequently, they run into Runtime.exec()'s third pitfall. Listing 4.4 demonstrates exactly that:
    Listing 4.4 BadExecWinDir.java
    import java.util.*;
    import java.io.*;
    public class BadExecWinDir
    public static void main(String args[])
    try
    Runtime rt = Runtime.getRuntime();
    Process proc = rt.exec("dir");
    InputStream stdin = proc.getInputStream();
    InputStreamReader isr = new InputStreamReader(stdin);
    BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(isr);
    String line = null;
    System.out.println("<OUTPUT>");
    while ( (line = br.readLine()) != null)
    System.out.println(line);
    System.out.println("</OUTPUT>");
    int exitVal = proc.waitFor();
    System.out.println("Process exitValue: " + exitVal);
    } catch (Throwable t)
    t.printStackTrace();
    A run of BadExecWinDir produces:
    E:\classes\com\javaworld\jpitfalls\article2>java BadExecWinDir
    java.io.IOException: CreateProcess: dir error=2

    at java.lang.Runtime.exec(Unknown Source)
    at java.lang.Runtime.exec(Unknown Source)
    at BadExecWinDir.main(BadExecWinDir.java:12)
    As stated earlier, the error value of 2 means "file not found," which, in this case, means that the executable named dir.exe could not be found. That's because the directory command is part of the Windows command interpreter and not a separate executable. To run the Windows command interpreter, execute either command.com or cmd.exe, depending on the Windows operating system you use. Listing 4.5 runs a copy of the Windows command interpreter and then executes the user-supplied command (e.g., dir).

  • Error reading excel file using POI.

    Hi ,
    I am having some problem when reading the excel file.
    While reading excel file I am getting error-java.io.IOException: Unable to read entire block; 4 bytes read; expected 512 bytes.
    part of my code:-
    InputStream stream = objFormFile.getInputStream();
    POIFSFileSystem fs = new POIFSFileSystem(stream);//getting above error here.
    HSSFWorkbook wb = new HSSFWorkbook(fs);
    Case 1:
    I download the file on the system ,save it ,and then directly upload it to the system ,I get the above error .
    Case 2:
    It works fine if I download the excel and manually open and save it and then upload it .
    I am using JDK1.4.1 and poi-2.5.1-final-20040804.jar.
    Can any one please help me out for the above problem?

    Instead of using POIFSFileSystem, try to directly create the HSSFWorkbook
    InputStream stream = objFormFile.getInputStream();
    //POIFSFileSystem fs = new POIFSFileSystem( stream );//getting above error here.
    HSSFWorkbook wb = new HSSFWorkbook( stream );

  • WL6.1 + IIS, request.getInputStream is not working. Please help.

    I'm running IIS + WL 6.1 and in my servlet code, when I use request.getInputStream(),
    it has nothing in the input stream
    for e.x.
    InputStream istream = request.getInputStream();
    BufferedInputStream buf = new BufferedInputStream(istream);
    byte[] b = new byte[1024];
    while(buf.available()>0){
    buf.read(b);
    System.out.println("printing:"+b);
    buf.available is not greater than zero.
    But when I tried with just WL6.1, everything is fine.
    I'm using forward path to forward my request.
    Please help.
    thanks
    Vijay

    Too much code to review in depth.
    Couple of things that jumped out at me
    1 - request.sendRedirect sent at the end. You should do any request forward/redirects as soon as possible in the jsp - before your response gets committed. It is illegal to forward/redirect after a response has been committed. That might explain the errors.
    2 - As a suggestion, view source on the page, and save the file as html. Or use the functionality to "save a webpage" to your local computer. Try loading that HTML page in all the browsers. That should help you diagnose is it the HTML code, or is it the JSP side of things that is broken.
    hope this helps,

  • XML SQL Utility error - SQLException Data size bigger than max size for this type

    I am trying to insert an XML document the contains the text of new articles into the database and I am receiving this error on large documents. The process flow is as follows:
    From a servlet:
    1. Query the news server and retrieve an XML document containing the new story.
    2. Apply an XSL style sheet to the XML document to transform it into an XML document that matches the news_article table into which the story will be inserted.
    3. Call the insertXML method to store the transformed document in the table. The table contains a CLOB.
    Here is a sample of the raw XML:

    Steven,
    Thanks for you reply. I have verified that I am using the latest version of Oracle XSQL Servlet, version 0.9.8.6 as well as the OCI8 driver. In doing some additional research I found that I was using the JDBC drivers supplied with OAS 4.0.8 and not the Oracle 8.1.5 JDBC drivers. I have switched my classpath to point to the 8.1.5 drivers and I am now encountering the following error:
    ORA-21301: not initialized in object mode
    Is this something I need to do in my Servlet code, or should the XSQL Servlet handle that?
    Thanks for any help that you can provide.

    The logs are by default located in Tomcat/logs and configurable by Tomcat/conf/logging.properties.
    Having said that, when I google on [java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Could not initialize class org.apache.myfaces.shared_tomahawk.config.MyfacesConfig|http://www.google.com/search?q=java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError%3A+Could+not+initialize+class+org.apache.myfaces.shared_tomahawk.config.MyfacesConfig] then I have the impression that you're using Tomahawk 1.1.7 snapshot and there might be a bug in it. Try using Tomahawk 1.1.6 and see if it works. After all, you may have more luck if you post this issue at their own mailinglist at tomahawk.apache.org.

  • When using URLConnection read input stream error

    hi,
    In my applet I build a URLConnection, it connect a jsp file. In my jsp file I refer to a javaBean. I send two objects of request and response in jsp to javaBean. In javabean return output stream to URLConnect. At that time a error happened.WHY???(Applet-JSP-JAVABean)
    Thanks.
    My main code:
    APPLET:(TestApplet)
    URL url = new URL("http://210.0.8.120/jsp/test.jsp";
    URLConnection con;
    con = url .openConnection();
    con = servlet.openConnection();
    con.setDoInput( true );
    con.setDoOutput( true );
    con.setUseCaches( false );
    con.setRequestProperty( "Content-Type","text/plain" );
    con.setAllowUserInteraction(false);
    ObjectOutputStream out;
    out = new ObjectOutputStream(con.getOutputStream());
    Serializable[] data ={"test"};
    out.writeObject( data );
    out.flush();
    out.close();
    //until here are all rigth
    ObjectInputStream in = new ObjectInputStream( con.getInputStream() );//happened error
    JSP:
    TestBean testBean = new TestBean ();
    testBean .execute(request, response);
    JAVABEAN:
    public void execute( HttpServletRequest request,
    HttpServletResponse response )
    ObjectInputStream in = new ObjectInputStream( request.getInputStream() );
    String direct = (String) in.readObject();
    System.out.prinltn("direct");
    ObjectOutputStream out = new ObjectOutputStream( response.getOutputStream() );
    SerializableSerializable[] data ={"answer"};
    out.writeObject( data );
    out.flush();
    out.close();
    Error detail:
    java.io.StreamCorruptedException: invalid stream header
         at java.io.ObjectInputStream.readStreamHeader(ObjectInputStream.java:729)
         at java.io.ObjectInputStream.<init>(ObjectInputStream.java:251)
         at TestApplet.postObjects(TestApplet.java:172)

    you have to pay attention to the sequence of opening the streams.
    The following example is: client sends a string to server, and servlet sends a response string back.
    client side:
             URL url = new URL( "http://152.8.113.149:8080/conn/servlet/test" );
             URLConnection conn = url.openConnection();
             System.out.println( "conn: " + conn );
             conn.setDoOutput( true );
             conn.setDoInput( true );
             conn.setUseCaches( false );
             conn.setDefaultUseCaches (false);
             // send out a string
             OutputStream out = conn.getOutputStream();
             ObjectOutputStream oOut = new ObjectOutputStream( out );
             oOut.writeObject( strSrc );
             // receive a string
             InputStream in = conn.getInputStream();
             ObjectInputStream oIn = new ObjectInputStream( in );
             String strDes = (String)oIn.readObject();server side
             // open output stream
             OutputStream out = res.getOutputStream();
             ObjectOutputStream oOut = new ObjectOutputStream( out );
             // open input stream and read from client
             InputStream in  = req.getInputStream();
             ObjectInputStream oIn = new ObjectInputStream( in );
             String s = (String)oIn.readObject();
             System.out.println( s );
             // write to client
             oOut.writeObject( s + " back" ); I have the complete example at http://152.8.113.149/samples/app_servlet.html
    don't forget to give me the duke dollars.

    Maybe the zip file isn't at that location. Maybe it
    didn't get completely downloaded. Maybe downloading it
    puts permissions on it that don't allow you to open
    it. Maybe it's password-protected. Maybe half-a-dozen

    those obvious things? Can you open the file yourself
    with a zip utility?

    No it is not correct.
    The socket creation should be provided with the proper host and the port. the resource on the host is something you should ask your server (HTTP GET ... whatever).
    The https://abc.com:443 is equal to https://abc.com as the default port for https is 443. the host variable should be "abc.com" and the port "443" and the rest negotiated in application level (HTTP GET /XYZ [is not the proper syntax]).
    Further, with this description, the first url (https://server/resource:port) is not making any sense.
    You problem in first place is probably the host and port parameters (specifically the port has been set to 80 which most likely is wrong) . you need to consider the other port regarding newline and CRs buildging the proxy authentication header, but you debug logs suggest that your test proxy server takes it.

  • Error 403.7 - Forbidden: SSL client certificate is required

    Hi people!
    Im developing a java client to a WebService (developed in .NET). The communication protocol is HTTPS to the URL where the Web Service is located (something like https://10.200.140.117/dirNotes/serviceName.asmx.). Ive been reading many posts but I could'nt find the solution to the problem wich has the following message: Error 403.7 - Forbidden: SSL client certificate is required".
    Im using JDK 1.5 and developing and testing on Windows Plataform. I'm able to access the URL specified above directly from the browser, I installed the client certificate (the same that ve put into the ,jks keystore. Ive also imported the whole certificate chain of the server to the cacerts.
    Ill paste the code and the console trace below. Id be very grateful if you can help me. Thanks a lot.

  • Error while downloading a file

    I have written a servlet that downloads a file from my server on to my mobile.
    i have written the following code to download the file:
    URL url = new URL(path);
                        URLConnection connection = url.openConnection();
                        InputStream stream = connection.getInputStream();
                        BufferedInputStream in = new BufferedInputStream(stream);
                        FileOutputStream fos = new FileOutputStream(fileName);
                        BufferedOutputStream out = new BufferedOutputStream(fos);
                        int i;
                        while ((i = in.read()) != -1)
                            //System.out.println("Reading the file");
                            out.write(i);
                        out.flush();The code has no errors, but i m unable to download the file. The mobile gives me an error saying:
    Services: Empty File
    Can anyone please help me out with this problem.
    with regards,
    Shirish

    This way to download files from server looks odd. You're issuing a new URL connection, likely to self. This may be slower than accessing the file directly using FileInputStream.
    But anyway, you haven't set the contenttype and contentlength accordingly. Likely the mobile is aborting the download immediately since the headers have sent a contentlength of 0 bytes.
    Check at the bottom of http://balusc.xs4all.nl/srv/dev-jep-pdf.html for some downloadFile() snippets, which might provide useful insights how to download files.

  • Error parsing XML file from a HttpServletRequest using JAXP

    Hi,
    I am trying to generate an XML file from an HttpServletRequest. I am actually using file uploading method in JSP to send the XML file. I think the parser isnt able to correctly identify the XML file from the message body and hence it is giving some strange error messages. Has anyone of u managed to solve this problem ?
    Code snippet:
    //now build an XML document from the requested input stream
    InputStream in = myRequest.getInputStream();
    try {
    myDocRequest = myParser.parse(in);
    } catch (Throwable t) {
    throw new Exception("Could not build document",t);
    Error message is:
    [Fatal Error] :1:1: Content is not allowed in prolog.
    java.lang.Exception: Could not build document

    Actually if i just print out the message, it gives something like this:
    -----------------------------7d63dc71b06b2
    Content-Disposition: form-data; name="W"; filename="C:\work_projects\Capas.xml"
    Content-Type: text/xml

    <section>/WCS_Capabilities/Capability</section>
    </GetCapabilities>
    -----------------------------7d63dc71b06b2--
    Cheers.

    The ServletInput stream contains this:
    -----------------------------7d63dc71b06b2
    Content-Disposition: form-data; name="W"; filename="C:\work_projects\Capas.xml"
    Content-Type: text/xml
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    i.e., its the HTTP File Upload MIME stuff, followed by the XML. You need to wrap around the input stream something that can decode the HTTP MIME stuff and let you get at the XML itself, i.e., something like: com.orielly.servlet.multipart.MultipartParser (Apache has a similar 'file upload servlet).

  • Uploading large files from applet to servlet throws out of memory error

    I have a java applet that needs to upload files from a client machine
    to a web server using a servlet. the problem i am having is that in

    OK - the problem you describe is definitely what's giving you grief.
    The workaround is to use a socket connection and send your own request headers, with the content length filled in. You may have to multi-part mime encode the stream on its way out as well (I'm not about that...).
    You can use the following:
    http://porsche.cis.udel.edu:8080/cis479/lectures/slides-04/slide-02.html
    on your server to get a feel for the format that the request headers need to take.

    I get the out of Memory Error on the client side. I
    was told that this might be a bug in the URLConnection
    class implementation that basically it wont know the
    content length until all the data has been written to
    the output stream, so it uses an in memory buffer to
    store the data which basically causes memory issues..
    do you think there might be a workaround of any kind..
    or maybe a way that the buffer might be flushed after
    a certain size of file has been uploaded.. ?? do you
    have any ideas?
