InputText tag displays 'old' value

Hi,
I have an inputText tag similar to this:
<h:inputText id="name" value="#{userDetailsBean.user.displayName}">
<trx:validateText pattern=".*[^a-zA-Z /-].*" max="40"/>
</h:inputText>
The first time i visit the page, the value displayed is correctly taken from the backing bean.
Even though the backng bean has changed, the second time i visit the page, the input field is initially set to the value displayed on the first visit, not taken from the backing bean.
Logging confirms the getter is not being called, but the value seems to be taken from some object cached in the request/session.
I have tried both session and request scope for the backing bean.
How can i turn off this behaviour?
Thanks Nige

Ok,
I have a page which uses a dataTable tag to show all the users.
<h:form rendered="#{siteAdminBean.viewUsers}" styleClass="form">
<h:dataTable value="#{viewUsersBean.usersModel}" var="user"
styleClass="table" rowClasses="tableOddRow, tableEvenRow"
columnClasses="tableDataCol, tableDataCol, tableButtonCol, tableButtonCol">
<h:column>
<f:facet name="header">
<h:outputText value="User ID:"/>
</f:facet>
<h:outputText value="#{user.displayUserId}"/>
</h:column>
<h:column>
<f:facet name="header">
<h:outputText value="Name:" styleClass="tableDataCol"/>
</f:facet>
<h:outputText value="#{user.displayName}"/>
</h:column>
<h:column>
<h:commandButton value="Details" action="#{viewUsersBean.detailsAction}"/>
</h:column>
<h:column>
<h:commandButton value="Delete" action="#{viewUsersBean.deleteAction}"/>
</h:column>
</h:dataTable>
</h:form>
The details button takes me to the page in question and shows more extensive details. I can then navigate back to this show all pages from the details page, and pick another one.
The bit i can't understand is why the getter method for the input tag in question is only accessed on the first visit, and not on the second...

• JSF keeps displaying old values after Validation Phase fails

Hi all,
I would like to ask some help in understanding a particular behaviour that JSF shows when Validation Phase fails.
I'm using:
- Tomcat 7.0.2
- JSF 1.2_12
- RichFaces 3.3.3
Problem description.
I wrote a form with 4 input fields: an inputText and 3 selectOneMenu. The inputText is required while the selectOneMenus don't require any validation.
Attached to the first selectOneMenu (row 32), is an a4j:support tag so that, whenever the change event is fired, the list of items of the second
and the third selectOneMenu (row 44 and 58) are correctly filled (note that the mandatory of the inputText is ignored thanks to the ajaxSingle attribute).
In particular, after loading the two lists of items, the actionListener forces the value of the second and the third selectOneMenu to null.
This mechanism seems to work fine until I submit the whole form without filling the input text: as expected, JSF validation fails but if I change the value of
the first selectOneMenu again (causing a new submit), the page keeps displaying the values specified before JSF validation failed for the second and the third
selectOneMenu (note that the actionListener is still called and the values of the second and the third selectOneMenu are still forced to null).
Since I'm using a simple PhaseListener, I noticed the following: before JSF validation fails, every time I change the value of the first selectOneMenu, JSF life
cycle always calls the get method for the second and the third selectOneMenu during the Render Response Phase. In this way, JSF is able to "see" that
those values have been set to null during the Invoke Application Phase.
After validation fails, JSF stops calling those getters when I change the value of the first selectOneMenu.
I hope my explanation was clear enough, thanks a lot for your help.
Regards,
Nico

I'm thinking this has to do with the fact that the UIComponents use the localValue after validation fails. This prevents the values from being overwritten when re-rendering the page, i.e. the inputs keep the value set by the user.
The solution is to manipulate the components directly during the AJAX request when the first pull down is changed. Use the binding attribute to place them into your bean and clear the value directly. That way it will not matter that the expression is not evaluated.

• Which table stores old value of IBAN number and how to retrive old value.

HELLO TEAM
We are going through an enhancement process that requires to display old value and new value of the IBAN number from the Vendor master records. As IBAN is a combination of the country key, Bank Key and Bank account number, which are all key fields, their values are stored in the form of key in CDHDR and and CDPOS tables. The bank details are only shown in other key tab/column and the field name is displayed as key in CDPOS. These sensitive field changes are displayed as created or deleted but do not show as old value=x and new value =Y.The old value and new value fields are blank. The same happens for object IBAN and the tiban table only stores iban numbers that are updated and does not store old value of the iban number.
If I have to display in the report s_alr_87012089, the old value and the new value of the iban number , how can i achieve the task. From which table we can retireve the old value of the IBAN number.

Hello Team
We have explored all the above means. We are working in 4.7 environment. As we could not find an appropriate solution, we have approached the forum. The old value is not stored in cdhdr and cdpos and has the indicator as 'E' -Delete. So if an updation is done then it will delete old value and create a new value. This happens especially for the fields Bank Country Key,Bank Key, Bank Account Number. All we have checked the object attributes in the table lfbk, where for some fields it does track changes and for other it does not track changes. This is especially for the fields kovon and kobis.
If the requirement is to track changes to the fields Bank Country Key,Bank Key, Bank Account Number, kovon, kobis, iban which are sensitive data, and the report has to display old value and new value for sox compliance, how can this be achieved?
I have also gone through the SAP note 580266
If we are running a report to track changes to all vendors or a selected group of vendors, only some fields show up the value old value and new value.
Would appreciate if an appropriate solution is provided.
Request for a solution as i waited for 2 days if any expert could help!!!
Thank you

• How to show old value in webui when user press NO button on popup button.

Hi Experts,
As per requirement I have created custom field with dropbox and with popup box to cofirm user decision if value from field changes.
Now on Popup when user press Yes then its Ok as no need to change the current value in the field.
but when user press the NO button I want to display the old value on Web UI so now I am able to catch the old value and pass it into the field at backend but I am not able to make the change on the web page.
Please reply if anyone have solution for it.
BR
Gaurav

Hi Gaurav,
First of all when all this is happening in UI why you need to pass the selected value to backend. I didnt get this.
I believe, this is only ui related and the old value which you got can be set in the IMPL class global variable and trigger method set_on_close_event, say here 'CONFIRM_POPUP_CLOSED' as shown below:
gr_popup->set_on_close_event( iv_event_name = 'CONFIRM_POPUP_CLOSED'
iv_view = me ).
Retrive the answer as per selection from popup in method 'CONFIRM_POPUP_CLOSED'
by using:
lv_answer = gr_popup->get_fired_outbound_plug( ).
if lv_answer is NO, then put back the globally stored old value back to dropdown attribute, using:
set_property_by_value method(   iv_attr_name = 'dropdown attr' iv_value = 'old value' )
Thats it. No need to do anything.

Bhushan

• How to change the dynamically LOV value to old value if it errors out

We have an use case like when a value is selected from LOV, some validations(EO validations) occur on that and if the validation fails we are throwing exception.But the new value is appearing in LOV text box. We need to display the old value in the LOV if the validation fails. Can you please let me know if there is any way to do that?

After thinking about this, I wondered if I had mis-read the use-case....so I added #2
Please state your Jdeveloper version, and elaborate on your use-case:
*1. Are you saying that the LOV contains incorrect values that the user has chosen?*
If so you should restrict the LOV values to what is acceptable for the row (based on what other values are in the row)
By restricting the values in the LOV the wrong value can no longer be selected, you would not need to build in functionality to revert back to previous values.
I woud start by creating a view criteria for the view object the LOV is based on. The form values would send the binding variables to the view criteria, and that would then execute the query (invoking the view criteriea). The LOV would then contain some information on only acceptable values.
You may be able to adapt some of the ideas presented in this video (on cascading list boxes) to make your LOV work properly. http://youtu.be/WTevRnXq04o
This video shows some ways to manipulate view criteria: http://youtu.be/dX93fiBCxEg
*2. Are you saying that the user has selected other fields in the form -- validation on those fields fails, and you want to revert back, but the LOV still contains the values selected?*
In that case, you need to clear the values in the form and re-execute the view object -- and refreshing to the correct value.

• Displaying parameter value in the report output

Hi,
I have a requirement to display the value 'All' in the report when the user selects 'All' from the list box. Can anyone suggest a way?
E.g.
My LOV input to the report has following values, 'A', 'B', 'C', 'All'.
If I select 'All', all the values A, B, C go into the query . But I need to display this I/P parameter as a field in the RTF showing 'All' in it.

u can try like this
if they select all u will have 'a,'b','c' as value in the xml tag right so always the string length of that xml field will be same when you select all . SAY STRING LENGTH WILL be 10 when user select ALL
( check the string how much is the value when you select ALL and implement this)
we can try using string length
<?xdoxslt:ifelse(number(string-length(XML_FIELD_TAG))>=10,'ALL',XML_FIELD_TAG)?>
or
<?xdoxslt:ifelse(number(string-length(//XML_FIELD_TAG))>=10,'ALL',//XML_FIELD_TAG)?>
So it will display ALL when user selects ALL else the selected value.
if you are not having parameter values as xml tag then you have use like this
<?xdoxslt:ifelse(number(string-length($XML_FIELD_TAG))>=10,'ALL',$XML_FIELD_TAG)?>
assign some points if helpful.

• Web service returns old values

Hallo,
by using web service my project is remotely controled. The mapping data will be transferred using the shared variables.
The shared variables work perfectly, but the responce on the xml page (outputs: web_master_resp, web_scene_resp, web_action_resp and error code) always returns the old values which happened at the last url activity.
For instance, after sending "http://localhost:8080/webcontrol/scene/action" and following "http://localhost:8080/webcontrol/scene_1/action_1" the xml returns "scene" on "web_scene_resp" and "action" on "web_action_resp"
what should i do to get the lastest values read?

hi,
just a guess: I'd try to use I instead of NUMC for the document numbers.
NUMC is no number but a character string with numeric characters only. only some display routines in SAP know that this string of numerals represents a number and omit leading zeroes.
my 2 cents,
anton

a change to the field LGART is not allowed
=> I'm not doing a change, trying to create
- limitation 6:
Two front end fields mapped to the same backend (infotype) field cannot be used in the same table, though you have configured different default values and made one field as operation exclusive. The reason being that the field marked as Op-Exclusive will not be operated upon and there will be inconsistencies in the number of table lines generated.
=> could this be the reason for my problem?
I have also given a shot at creating a generic service for the job, but as the same note suggests it didn't work (testing the process timeouts if I return fields with multiple field values with separate indexes and subtypes).
Have you had any experiences with table controls showing both past and to-be values? Does the framework even support this kind of a requirement?
Best regards,
Mikko

Hi Aravind,
appreciate your input.
Not sure however if I followed you completely. When you wrote "values that needed to be displayed are made as optional" did you mean optional = operation-exclusive or optional = disabled with the help of a rule?
Did you btw do this especially with subtype * and index * relevant infotypes? I tried your approach and upon initialization everything looks good (I didn't have the generic service in between SAP_PA:s because gs:s won't work in case of subtype * infotypes at least according to OSS and my initial tests), both the display and edit elements are populated all right.
However when I create a new entry into the new fields, their sort order is messed up upon check & send - the last entry suddenly becomes the first and check & sending for the second time I get errors about LGART and SUBTYpe not being the same (which is natural and according to the OSS note I referred to previously).
If you have been working with subty * related multiple fields, can you elaborate more on your solution?
Best regards,
Mikko

• H:inputText ; How To initialize value Property from back/bean method?

Hello Guys at Sun Forums.
I am a newbie at using JSF. and I'm having a bit of a Problem.
I don't know how to initialize the value property of a h:inputText from a method inside a backing bean that returns a String data type.
My Method inside the Backing bean is this:
public String getLastDate()
Connection con = null;
Statement stmt = null;
ResultSet rs = null;
Date DateCapt = null;
String DateConv= null;
try{
Class.forName("com.sybase.jdbc2.jdbc.SybDrive").newInstance();
con = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:sybase:Tds:localhost/BAN_PRO_SNP", "xxxx", "xxxx");
if(!con.isClosed()){
stmt = con.createStatement();
stmt.executeQuery ("SELECT TOP 1 CONVERT(VARCHAR(10), fec_parametro, 103) fec_parametro FROM snp_sei_parametros" +
"     WHERE cod_parametro = 'FECHA'" +
"     ORDER BY fec_parametro DESC");
rs = stmt.getResultSet();
while (rs.next())
DateCapt = rs.getDate("fec_parametro");
rs.close();
stmt.close();
catch (Exception ex)
System.out.println("COULD NOT LOAD THE DRIVER!!!!");
System.out.println(ex);
DateConv = String.valueOf(DateCapt).toString();
return DateConv;
}As you can see the Method returns a String data type, and all I want to know is how put that returned String as the initial value of a h:inputText. when the jsf-jsp page loads.
Please Help Me.

You should be able to do
<h:inputText value="#{bean.lastDate}"/>Where 'bean' is the managed bean name containing
the method getLastDate().
When the view is rendered, the getter (getLastDate())
will be called to display whatever value is returned.

• Dimension displaying Level_Member values instead of proper mapped value

Just wondering if anyone else has come across this problem before and knows a smart way of correcting it.
I have a Dimension that contains 6 levels which is mapped to a view. I can build the dimension without any errors appearing in the maintain process. However there are times when something happens (not sure what) and the dimension appears differently when I "view data". The top 5 levels appear normally but the sixth level (L6) displays L6_"surrogate id", where the surrogate id is mapped to the Member field in the mapping section. This would indicate to me that there isn't any value mapped to either description field. But according to the view there is a character value and this is mapped against the Short Description and the Long Description.
Now it gets a bit stranger. This has definitely been working, so I dropped the view and recreated it with a different where clause so that the values returned are definitely different. I maintain the dimension again and I receive the new values displayed correctly - the XML_LOAD_LOG indicates that the old values were deleted and the new values were created. When I drop the view and recreate it with the original where clause and maintain it again, it works correctly !!
I'm sure there is a logical reason for this happening (or maybe there is not). I am resorting to programmatically creating the view incorrectly, maintaining the dimension, correcting the view and maintaining it again. The seems somewhat extreme but I am at a loss for what else to do.
Anyone experienced this before ??
Thanks
L

Thanks for the response.
I have deleted the AW and recreated from template and then maintained the dimension. The problem is there as before.
I then went to the mapping node and removed the referenced view, added it again and remapped. Maintained the dimension and unfortunately the problem is still there!
I think the problem definitely relates to the dropping and recreating of the AW. Something seems to be corrupting the attributes - the strange thing is that it only occurs for the lowest level (level 6), everything else above it is 100% correct. Unfortunately the dropping and recreating of this is required for two reasons:
1. To manage the size of the AW and therefore the time required to maintain our dimensions and cubes on a nightly basis. If left the build time will creep up to about 2 hours within 3 weeks - it currently takes 20 minutes to build 5 cubes and 7 dimensions by dropping and recreating the AW.
2. To handle the problem with cubes not deleting data that is no longer referenced. Our data warehouse is relatively small and due to other constraints we drop and repopulate all of our tables every night - giving them new surrogates. In some cases records will have actually been removed. Without dropping the cube and recreating it, these "old" records are still seen in the cube and therefore give us incorrect results.
I have now implemented code that creates the view with dummy data and maintains the dimension. Then corrects the view and maintains it again. This is working well and is only taking a matter of minutes to run. I am concerned though that this will occur in other dimensions that we create in the future. Anyway, I guess I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.
Thanks again for your reply. I knew it was probably something strange that might be as a result of other actions we are taking.

• Display HashMap values in JSP using Taglib in struts

Hi ,

I have HashMap object with(key & values) in My Action class.
I want to diplay in my JSP as a List with html:links to do other process.
How can I display HashMap values in my JSP. Which is the best way to display
My intenetion is maxmum avoiding <%%> code in jsp.
Which is the best way to display ?
Can I diplay using taglib which is generic tag for any collection object ?
Can any one help me ASAP.
thanks
Chandra

Hi Riaz,
You can use same code in JSP
Java Code
import java.util.*;
class TestHashMap
public static void main(String args[])
HashMap hm=new HashMap();
//store some Objects.
hm.put("Rajib Sarma","100");
//duplicate keys are not allowed.
hm.put("Rajib Sarma","200");//The value "100" is replaced by "200".
hm.put("Sazid Ahmed","200");
//Display the contents of the HashMap
System.out.println("Displaying all the keys/values.\r\n");
System.out.println("Key\t\tValue\r\n");
//get all the keys
Collection c=hm.keySet();
//obtain an Iterator
Iterator i=c.iterator();
while(i.hasNext())
//obtain a key
Object key=i.next();
//obtain the value of the key
Object value=hm.get(key);
System.out.println(key +"\t" + value);
}//while ends
}//main ends
}

• Keep the old value in the UI field if entity validation fails

Hi,
I have a requirement to retain the original value (old value), if the entity attribute validation fails when the filed value is changed. I have created one validation rule on the entity object and the validation rule is working as expected. But I would like to reset the value to the original value if the validation fails on the modified value.
Thanks and Regards,

Hello,
Please tell us your first name, and change your forum handle to something more friendly than User123. It’s nicer and easier for us this way.
It seems that the forum software messed up the example code you wanted to present. To avoid that you can use the forum tags
and
at the beginning and end of your code.
If I understand correctly, you are trying to retrieve the original field value from a fxx array, however these arrays are populated after page submit, so they don’t hold the initial values of the column.
I think the simplest solution will be to use an ‘onfocus’ event that will save the initial value – this.value – in a global JavaScript variable. In your ‘onchange’ code, instead of clearing the field if validation failed just assigns the original value for the JavaScript variable.

Arie.

• Audit of attribute value change: is the old value available?

When changing the value of an user attribute in the FIM Portal, the new attribute value is properly logged. This can be read in the request and in the standard report FIMUserHistory.
The question is, what about the old value that was replaced? Is the old value available in the Data Warehouse somewhere, so one can make a report or is it gone forever (of course one can find the old value by looking at the previous attribute change or creation
event, but this could be too long time ago)?
Thanks for helping,
Didier.

As far I remember (I don't have access to test FIM Reporting now) in reports stored on Data Warehouse, there is no such thing as "old value". But as far I remember it, also very old data is stored there, so there can be something like:
User: JJK003 -> New attribute (mail) value: (12.12.2013)
User: JJK003 -> New attribute (mail) value: (12.02.2014)
so, if you look closely to a history and sort it by user - you can determine what was the old value.
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj133843(v=ws.10).aspx
In report, you have always most recent display name of this user and of attribute's display name, but history should show what value was inserted long time ago and what value was set a week ago - than you know what value was there previously.
But please be aware that users report, according to TechNet, does not include all properties:
This report provides information about changes to key attributes on user resources in FIM, including account name, email, job title, and
employee start/end date.
Keep trying
