Insalling SQL Loader in 11.2 Oracle client

Hi,
I have installed 11g client on my Linux machine but do not see sqlldr installed alongwith.
Can someone please help me getting sqlldr utility installed with my client?
Not sure if Oracle ships SQLLDR with 11g clients now. If No, Any steps get sqlldr running on my machine?
Thanks,
Tej

Been a while since I installed that, but as I recall there was a separate option you needed to select that was not selected by default.
"Database Utilities" or something like that.
You can still install it after the fact.

  • Sql LOader- Mysql Migration to Oracle

    Hai all,
I am using Sql loader to migrate Mysql Database to Oracle 10g.
Almost all the migration is succesfully done but i have got stuck at one point. Since We know that in Mysql there is Null Date format is 0000:00:00 00:00 and when i am trying to load this date in oracle it says that cannot insert 0 in date.
Since In my mysql there is date combination of both regular dates and 0000:00:00 ..... so i want that what shoud i use in Sql*Loader that .When it seen the 0000:00:00 in date column it insert the date 1900:01:01 and when it sees the reglular date ..it simply insert in date .
    Thanks and Regards!!
    Pankaj

    Hi,
The decode command I mwntioned means
    if :date = 0000:00:00 00:00
    then
    to_date('1900:01:01','YYYY:MM:DD')
    else
    to_date( <give your date format> )
    end
    Change your command to
    publishtodate "decode(:publishtodate, '0000:00:00 00:00', to_date('1900:01:01','YYYY:MM:DD'), to_date(:publishtodate,'YYYY/MM/DD' ) )"
The last bit (i.e. to_date(:publishtodate,'YYYY/MM/DD' ) ) is the else part, which will load the actual date data.
Here you have to give the format of dates of your MySql generated data.
Whats the format of date data? I guess, its not just YYYY/MM/DD, there must be time component (as the error text says).
If the dates are like "2007/05/21 23:45", then give the format "YYYY/MM/DD HH24:MI" or else follow your format.

  • How to connect sql server using oracle Client

    Hi,
I am working in oracle9i and windows os 32 bit.
I need to connect SQL server 2000 from my oracle client..
I heard about heterogeneous connectivity ...
Please expalin me the steps what to add and how to connect the sql server...
    Regs....

Are you trying to connect to SQL Server from your Oracle database (i.e. create a database link in Oracle to SQL Server)? Or are you trying to connect to SQL Server using your Oracle client software (i.e. SQL*Plus)?
The former just requires Heterogeneous Services with Generic Connectivity. The latter is functionality that has been depricated and probably no longer works in your environment.

  • Use of SQL*Loader and Thin Client

I have a java application that is currently using the thin client. For portability issues, I am unable to use an OCI driver. My application also uses SQL*Loader.
My big issue is that The Thin client requires the HOST and SID for a connection.
But, for SQL*Loader to work in a client/server environment it needs to use the SERVICE_NAME and net8. Is there any way to have SQL*Loader use similar information that the thin client is using?
I know the right solution is to use the OCI drivers, but right now that is not feasible.
Thanks for any help in advance

I assume you are using an ObjectInputStream. Without seeing your code or a snippet I can't be certain...
The JDBC spec says the following about ObjectInputStream :
"An ObjectInputStream deserializes primitive data and objects previously written using an ObjectOutputStream"
Since there was nothing written by ObjectOutputStream, ObjectInputStream has nothing to deserialize and this exception would be raised.

  • Oracle 10g, oracle client(10.1.0.3) fails to connect server(10.1.0.4)

    Hi all,
currently I am facing a situation where I cannot connect to oracle 10g server running on 10.1.0.4 version.
I tried using sql plus and toad (with oracle client 10.1.0.3) but get error during login where I can get a connection.
Error reported by sql plus : Error accessing PRODUCT_USER_PROFILE
Warning: Product user profile information not loaded!
You may need to run PUPBLD.SQL as SYSTEM
SP2-0614: Server version too low for this feature
Is there any chance that the server can restrict the versions of the clients connecting to it?. Is there any way to locate the current supported clients for the oracle server running. ( I have tested with 10.1.0.4 oracle client and it works fine )
    Please advise

  • How can I use sql loader to load a text file into a table

Hi, I need to load a text file that has records on lines tab delimited into a table. How would I be able to use the sql loader to do this? I am using korn shell to do this. I am very new at this...so any kind of helpful examples or documentation would be very appreciated. I would love to see some examples to help me understand if possible. I need help! Thanks alot!

You should check out the documentation on SQL*Loader in the online Oracle document titled Utilities. Here's a link to the 9iR2 version of it: http://otn.oracle.com/docs/products/oracle9i/doc_library/release2/server.920/a96652/part2.htm#436160

  • SQL Loader and the bad file

I use SQL Loader to read a file into a table. In my tests a lot of rows are rejected and written to the bad file. But there are no error messages.
Is there a way to find out why the row was rejected.

    The Bad File
The bad file contains records that were rejected, either by SQL*Loader or by the Oracle database server. Some of the possible reasons for rejection are discussed in the next sections.
    SQL*Loader Rejects
Datafile records are rejected by SQL*Loader when the input format is invalid. For example, if the second enclosure delimiter is missing, or if a delimited field exceeds its maximum length, SQL*Loader rejects the record. Rejected records are placed in the bad file.
    Oracle Rejects
After a datafile record is accepted for processing by SQL*Loader, it is sent to the Oracle database server for insertion into a table as a row. If the Oracle database server determines that the row is valid, then the row is inserted into the table. If the row is determined to be invalid, then the record is rejected and SQL*Loader puts it in the bad file. The row may be invalid, for example, because a key is not unique, because a required field is null, or because the field contains invalid data for the Oracle datatype.

  • SQL*Loader with multiple files

    Gurus,
I search the documentation and this forum and haven't found a solution to my issue yet...
I am not expert of SQL*Loader. I have used SQL*Loader to copy from one file to a table many times. But I have not copied multiple files into one table especially with different names.
    More specifically....
I need to load data from multiple files into a table. But the file names will be different each time. A file will be created every hour. The file name will consist of the root file name appended by a time stamp. For example, a file created on 10/07/2010 at 2:15 P.M. would be filea100720101415.txt while a file created on 10/08/2010 at 8:15 A.M. would be filea100820100815.txt. All the files will be in one directory. How can I load the data from the files using SQL*Loader?
My database: Oracle 10g Release 2
    Operating System: Windows 2003 Server
    Please assist.

RobertToo bad this isn't in *nix, where you get a powerful shell scripting capability.
That said, here is the core of the solution .... you will also need a way to identify files that have been processed vs. new ones. Maybe rename them, maybe move them. But with this sample you can see the basics. From there it is really an issue of DOS scripting, which would better be found by googling around a bit.
    cd c:\loadfiles
FOR %%datfile IN (*.txt) DO SQLLDR CONTROL=sample.ctl, LOG=sample.log, BAD=baz.bad, DATA=%%datfileTry googling "dos scripting language". You'll find lots of tutorials and ideas on "advanced" (well, as advanced as DOS gets) techniques to solve your problem.

  • OWB 10gR2 : How to configure ctl and log locations for Sql*Loader mappings?

    Hi all,
I'm using OWB 10gR2 to load data in tables with Sql*Loader mappings.
In my project I have a datafile module and an Oracle module.
When creating an sql*loader mapping in the oracle module, there is two properties for this mappings that I want to modify. The first is Control File Location and the second is Log File Location. Values for those properties are equal to the data file module location. When trying to change those values I can only chose "Use module configuration location".
Somebody knows how to configure those properties with different locations as the one of the flat file module?
What I want to do is to store the data file in one directory, and control file and log file in other directories.
    Thank you for your help.
    Bernard

    Hi,
You're right, my problem is that the dropdown only show the location associated with the flat file location even if I have other file locations created in the design repository.
The good news is that I have found the solution to solve the problem :
    1) Edit the file module and in tab "Data locations", add the locations you want to use for control file and log file.
    2) Open configuration window of the mapping and then the dropdown for properties Control File Location and Log File Location show new locations
I have tested my mapping after changing those properties and it's working.

  • SQL Loader: Total number of record read

    Hello,
