Insert into dropdown list filled from database

Hi,
I have a dropdownlist which is filled from a database. I want to insert an empty/dummy option at index 0. I couldn't find when the rowset execute in the code( the autogenerated constructor have datasorce and command setup but no execute()), and don't how to modify the data from the database. Any help or suggestions? thanks.
John

It doesn't work if the selectOneMenu uses a converter. (I assume it works if the used values are just strings.)
Then you get on selecting the extra added selectItem a
Validation Error: {0}Value is not validJSP source:
<h:selectOneMenu binding="#{main.ddlReps}" converter="#{main.ddlRepsConverter}" id="ddlReps" styleClass="blackfont7">
  <f:selectItem itemLabel="Alle reps" itemValue="0"/>
  <f:selectItems binding="#{main.ddlRepsSelectItems}" id="ddlRepsSelectItems" value="#{main.hdusersRowSet.selectItems['SID,USERNAME']}"/>
</h:selectOneMenu>SID is a number(3) type field in an Oracle table
Converter used:
private BigDecimalConverter ddlRepsConverter = new BigDecimalConverter();
public BigDecimalConverter getDdlRepsConverter() {
    return ddlRepsConverter;
public void setDdlRepsConverter(BigDecimalConverter bdc) {
    this.ddlRepsConverter = bdc;
}I thought I could outsmart this but no:
<f:selectItem itemLabel="Alle reps" itemValue="#{main.dummy}"/>With the following code in the java code of the page:
private int dummy = 0;
public int getDummy() {
    return this.dummy;
}But then the converter starts giving errors.

  • Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES 8.2 Dropdown List Fill from a spreadsheet

    I am a new user to Adobe LiveCycle Designer and have created a form which a manager is required to fill out for each of their employees.
    I would like to create a drop-down object which will contain the name of the employees, so the manager can just pick the employee from a dropdown list and then fill out the evaluation.  We have over 1000 employees, so I don't want to type them in one by one.
    Please let me know how to link the list of employees to this form from another source.
    I can put the list of employee names into an Excel spreadsheet or an Access Database.
    I have tried following information posted in different places in the web, but I must be doing something wrong??
    I would appreciate a step by step guide of instructions to help me accomplish this task.
    Thank you in advance for your assistance.

    Select the Drop Down object and add a sample name thru the object UI. Now view the "XML Source" TAB, it shows xml code similar to the image.
    Now need to prepare all the names from the excell, place all names in one column of excell and copy paste the <text> and </text> nodes to the names(hopefully each column at a time). now need to copy all together and prepare final version to copy notepad (may require some replace all with spaces to format properly) then from notepad only update the above xml source . while going to design view it may pop-up warning message of changed xml, and click yes, now all names should be present in the dropdown. Hope this works.All we are doing here the form design is from "XML Source" tab insted of adding one by one from the object from design view.

    How do I import a long list from either exel or word into dropdown list in acrobat?

    There is not a built-in method for this unfortunately, but you can use JavaScript to help out. Specifically the setItems field method.

  • Insert into remote Oracle DB from Excel spreadsheet

    We currently have a Full Oracle database ( PROD ) which I can remotely link to with a version of Oracle Express on my desktop. Also, I can successfully link to an Excel spreadsheet. I am able to insert into a table on the Oracle Express database from the Excel link, and I can also insert to the PROD database from the Oracle Express database.
    However, when I try to insert rows into the remote PROD database from Excel, I get the following error.
    "Problem ORA-02019 connection discription for remote database not found ORA-02063; preceding line from XE ORA-02063 preceding 2 lines from PROD"
    The syntax that I am trying to use is:
    "Insert into temp@prod
    select * from Sheet1$@excel"
    The above syntax works very well to insert rows on the Oracle Express database from Excel, but is creating the error when trying to insert to a remote Oracle database.
    Is this solvable? Any advice is appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • How to use insert into...select * from...if source table is huge in size

    The source tables are having crores of data (growing tables). Tables with 4crores, 17cr. We want these tables to be copied frequently to our local database. Previously it was done by export-import through windows scheduled task. but now we are planning to do it as database jobs. We are fetching the datas with query
    insert into dest_tablee( select * from source_table@dblink) when we tried with this it was throwing exception like enough table space is not there. And also it was found that frequent commits has to be used while populating datas from big tables. So tried with cursor But it was very slow and again we got the exception like 'the table space unable to extend segment by 16 in undo tablespace 'UNDOTBS1'.
    After that we tried with the group by. In this case we got the exception like unable to extend table and also index in the table space. For this the solution is to add datafile. Again we have increase the table space. Now the procedure is running very slow(taking much time. It might be because of the conditions used in the query).
    Is there any other option to copy the datas from such a big tables? can we use the same sort of query?
    Friends please help me to sort it out.
    Thanks in Advance

    Hi,
    you have lot of data DONT use cursor, did you try using the COPY command.
    How frequently you will be doing the COPYING of the data ?
    If you have any constraints you can disable and enable after all the records have been copied.
    Please look at this link this should help.

  • May returning Clause be used w/ INSERT INTO...SELECT FROM

    Hi,
    I use Oracle 8i: 8.1.7.2.0.
    I'd like to insert multiple rows into a table, and get back certain inserted columns into a collection variable. Is this possible?
    Eg:
    INSERT INTO foo
    f1
    , f2
    SELECT b1, b2...
    FROM bar
    RETURNING f1 bulk collect into collection
    This compiles, but yields a "command not properly ended" error at runtime--I assume because the "returning" binds to the SELECT subquery, and not to the main INSERT query.
    Is there a way to do this?
    By the way, I already know this works when INSERTing just 1 row via the "values" clause.
    Regards,

  • Need to insert into NVARCHAR2 column in a database table

    I need to insert into a table with column type NVARCHAR2(2000) in java.
    Cant use normal setString on that column. How can I do this using PreparedStatement in Java?

    The scenario is:
    I have to read a CSV file which contains a column in Urdu language, and show it on the JTable first.
    Then I have to import the JTable contents into a database table.
    Database Table structure is:
    CREATE TABLE IMPORT_TMP (
    ctype          VARCHAR2(3),
    urdu_name  NVARCHAR2(2000)
    );My java code which inserts into the database table is:
                    Vector dataVector = tableModel.getDataVector();
                    rowVector = (Vector) dataVector.get(row);
                  cType = "";
                    if (rowVector.get(INDEX_BANK) != null) {
                        cType = rowVector.get(INDEX_CTYPE).toString();
                    urduName = "";
                    if (rowVector.get(INDEX_URDU_NAME) != null) {
                        urduName = rowVector.get(INDEX_URDU_NAME).toString();
                    statementInsert.setString(1, cType);
                    statementInsert.setString(2, urduName);I also applied Renderer on the table column, my renderer class is:
    public class LangFontRenderer extends JLabel implements TableCellRenderer {
        private Font customFont;
        public LangFontRenderer(Font font) {
            super();
            customFont = font;
            System.out.println("font = " + font.getFontName());
            this.setFont(font);
        @Override
        public Component getTableCellRendererComponent(JTable table,
                Object value, boolean isSelected, boolean hasFocus, int row, int column) {
            if (value != null) {
                if (value instanceof String) {
                    setText((String) value);
                    return this;
            return this;
        @Override
        public Font getFont() {
            return customFont;
        // overriding other methods for performance reasons only
        @Override
        public void invalidate() {
        @Override
        public boolean isOpaque() {
            return true;
        @Override
        public void repaint() {
        @Override
        public void revalidate() {
        @Override
        public void validate() {
    }I applied the renderer on the column as:
            TableColumn col = IATable.getColumnModel().getColumn(INDEX_URDU_NAME);
            LangFontRenderer langRenderer = new LangFontRenderer(new java.awt.Font("Urdu Naskh Asiatype", 0, 11));
            col.setCellRenderer(langRenderer);It does not give any error but when i query on the database table it does not show the column data in Urdu language.
    Also it does not show the correct value on JTable column, some un-identified symbols.
    Furthermore when I open the CSV file in notepad, it shows the correct language in that column, as I have installed the Urdu language and font on my system.

  • List Creation From Database Table

    I have a form that has two data blocks based on database tables:
    Block #1 = ORDER_LINE
    Block #2 = ORDER_CODE
    The ORDER_LINE block has an item in it that corresponds to an item in the ORDER_CODE block. I want to create a TLIST for this item in the ORDER_LINE block that populates the list from the values for the corresponding item in the ORDER_CODE block. I know that I can use the POPULATE_LIST built in and need a record group, etc, but I have not been able to make any of this work. Can anyone provide good instructions on how to do this? I find the On Line Help within Forms to be totally useless.
    Thanks.

  • Trigger on Insert into a custom table from external application

    This is the problem I am facing.
    External Application using a different schema lets say extdb on a different server. This writes into a table in a schema called appscustom schema. Appscustom schema is under Oracle Apps.
    A trigger in Oracle Apps to be executed on insert into the appscustom schema table.
    This trigger inturn will run a concurrent job to create the invoice and gl interface tables.
    THe problem I am facing is, The trigger get executed but the concurrent job does not get triggered/run.
    Here is the trigger. Let me know, what might be wrong.
    THe values for vRESP_APPL_Id,vRESP_ID, vUSER_ID becomes null in the test_pims table.
    Whereas when I manually insert from backend into appscustom schema table the concurrent job gets submitted.

    don't quite understand the structure of your tables but it sounds similiar to a merge statement.
    (contiditonally insert, update records depending on whether or not corresponding records exist)
    create table custom_table
    (cust_no number,
    line_no number,
    party_id number
    create table hz_parties
    as (
    select 1 party_id, 'A' bill_to_location, 10 cust_no, 100 line_no from dual union
    select 2, 'B', 20, 200 from dual union
    select 3, 'C', 30, 300 from dual union
    select 4, 'D', 40, 400 from dual
    merge into custom_table t1
    using (select * from hz_parties) t2
    on (t1.party_id = t2.party_id)
    when not matched then insert (t1.cust_no, t1.line_no, t1.party_id)
    values (t2.cust_no, t2.line_no, t2.party_id);

    <DataGridTextColumn x:Name="_dateColumn" Binding="{Binding date}" Header="Date Allocated" Width="*"/>
    <DataGridTextColumn x:Name="PoColumn" Binding="{Binding po}" Header="Purchase Order" Width="*"/>
    </DataGrid.Columns>
    </DataGrid>
    This is where I add a new Row to the Table:
    Private Sub Button_Click_1(sender As Object, e As RoutedEventArgs)
    Dim cbblocation As ComboBox = Me.FindName("LocationComboBox")
    Dim row As DataRowView = DirectCast(cbblocation.SelectedItem, DataRowView)
    Dim cbbtext As String = row.Item("node")
    Dim cbbtype As ComboBox = Me.FindName("comboBoxType")
    Dim cbbtext2 As String = cbbtype.Text
    Dim RETAILISOAMDDataSet As Retail_ISO_AMD.RETAILISOAMDDataSet = CType(Me.FindResource("RETAILISOAMDDataSet"), Retail_ISO_AMD.RETAILISOAMDDataSet)
    Dim RETAILISOAMDDataSetTableAssetsTableAdapter As Retail_ISO_AMD.RETAILISOAMDDataSetTableAdapters.tableAssetsTableAdapter = New Retail_ISO_AMD.RETAILISOAMDDataSetTableAdapters.tableAssetsTableAdapter()
    RETAILISOAMDDataSetTableAssetsTableAdapter.AddNewAsset(cbbtext, txbSerial.Text, txbName.Text, cbbtext2, Date.Today, txbPO.Text)
    node = cbbtext
    Dim mp As New MainPage
    mp.RefreshGrid(node)
    Me.Close()
    End Sub
    The RefreshGrid method:
    Public Sub RefreshGrid(node As String)
    Dim RETAILISOAMDDataSet As Retail_ISO_AMD.RETAILISOAMDDataSet = CType(Me.FindResource("RETAILISOAMDDataSet"), Retail_ISO_AMD.RETAILISOAMDDataSet)
    Dim RETAILISOAMDDataSetTableAssetsTableAdapter As Retail_ISO_AMD.RETAILISOAMDDataSetTableAdapters.tableAssetsTableAdapter = New Retail_ISO_AMD.RETAILISOAMDDataSetTableAdapters.tableAssetsTableAdapter()
    RETAILISOAMDDataSetTableAssetsTableAdapter.FillByNode(RETAILISOAMDDataSet.tableAssets, node)
    Dim TableAssetsViewSource As System.Windows.Data.CollectionViewSource = CType(Me.FindResource("TableAssetsViewSource"), System.Windows.Data.CollectionViewSource)
    Dim be As BindingExpression = BindingOperations.GetBindingExpression(TableAssetsViewSource, CollectionViewSource.SourceProperty)
    be.UpdateTarget()
    End Sub
    And this is what I use to delete a row from the table (and without doing anything special, the DataGrid auto-updates with the changes):
    Private Sub Button_Click_4(sender As Object, e As RoutedEventArgs)
    If TableAssetsDataGrid.SelectedIndex = -1 Then
    MsgBox("You have selected nothing to Delete!", MsgBoxStyle.OkOnly, "Nothing Selected")
    Else
    Dim dgv As DataGridTextColumn = Me.FindName("NodeColumn")
    Dim row As DataRowView = DirectCast(Me.TableAssetsDataGrid.SelectedItem, DataRowView)
    Dim dgvText As String = row.Item("node")
    Dim dgv2 As DataGridTextColumn = Me.FindName("SerialColumn")
    Dim row2 As DataRowView = DirectCast(Me.TableAssetsDataGrid.SelectedItem, DataRowView)
    Dim dgvText2 As String = row.Item("serial")
    Dim dgv3 As DataGridTextColumn = Me.FindName("NameColumn")
    Dim row3 As DataRowView = DirectCast(Me.TableAssetsDataGrid.SelectedItem, DataRowView)
    Dim dgvText3 As String = row.Item("name")
    Dim dgv4 As DataGridTextColumn = Me.FindName("TypeColumn")
    Dim row4 As DataRowView = DirectCast(Me.TableAssetsDataGrid.SelectedItem, DataRowView)
    Dim dgvText4 As String = row.Item("type")
    Dim dgv5 As DataGridTextColumn = Me.FindName("_dateColumn")
    Dim row5 As DataRowView = DirectCast(Me.TableAssetsDataGrid.SelectedItem, DataRowView)
    Dim dgvText5 As String = row.Item("date")
    Dim dgv6 As DataGridTextColumn = Me.FindName("POColumn")
    Dim row6 As DataRowView = DirectCast(Me.TableAssetsDataGrid.SelectedItem, DataRowView)
    Dim dgvText6 As String = row.Item("po")
    Dim RETAILISOAMDDataSet As Retail_ISO_AMD.RETAILISOAMDDataSet = CType(Me.FindResource("RETAILISOAMDDataSet"), Retail_ISO_AMD.RETAILISOAMDDataSet)
    Dim RETAILISOAMDDataSetTableAssetsTableAdapter As Retail_ISO_AMD.RETAILISOAMDDataSetTableAdapters.tableAssetsTableAdapter = New Retail_ISO_AMD.RETAILISOAMDDataSetTableAdapters.tableAssetsTableAdapter()
    RETAILISOAMDDataSetTableAssetsTableAdapter.RemoveAsset(dgvText, dgvText2, dgvText3, dgvText4, dgvText5, dgvText6)
    Dim cbb As ComboBox = Me.FindName("cbbLocation")
    Dim row7 As DataRowView = DirectCast(cbb.SelectedItem, DataRowView)
    Dim cbbtext As String = row.Item("node")
    RefreshGrid(cbbtext)
    End If
    End Sub
    --------- End of Edit
    It is bound to a Dataset which gets it's data from a SQL Database.
    Loading the Data and Filtering the data based on certain conditions work 100%. The problem I am having is as follows:
    I have a form on the Page that takes input and inserts a row into the Database. When this happens, the DataGrid won't automatically reflect the changes (even if I recall the Fill Method of the Dataset). No matter what I do, I have to refresh the entire page
    and THEN Fill the Dataset to see any changes.
    This is what strikes me as odd...
    When I do a delete row operation on the Database (Custom Method on the Dataset with conditions), and just Fill the Dataset again (without doing anything special), the row deletes and the changes is reflected IMMEDIATELY.
    What am I doing wrong here? Why would Delete Row reflect the changes on the DataGrid but no Insert Row?
    Thanks in Advance.
    (P.S. I am very rusty with my developing skills, I haven't done this in YEARS)

    >>And what about the the most important question, how exactly is TableAssetsViewSource defined in the XAML markup and what is
    its Source property set or bound to? And what about the reproducable sample...?
    Here is the Markup of the TableAssetsViewSource:
    <Page.Resources>
    <local:RETAILISOAMDDataSet x:Key="RETAILISOAMDDataSet"/>
    <CollectionViewSource x:Key="TableRegionsViewSource" Source="{Binding tableRegions, Source={StaticResource RETAILISOAMDDataSet}}"/>
    <CollectionViewSource x:Key="TableLocationsViewSource" Source="{Binding tableLocations, Source={StaticResource RETAILISOAMDDataSet}}"/>
    <CollectionViewSource x:Key="TableAssetsViewSource" Source="{Binding tableAssets, Source={StaticResource RETAILISOAMDDataSet}}"/>
    </Page.Resources>
    The ItemsSource of the DataGrid is bound to the TableAssetsViewSource:
    <DataGrid DataContext="{StaticResource TableAssetsViewSource}" ItemsSource="{Binding}" x:Name="TableAssetsDataGrid" AutoGenerateColumns="False" EnableRowVirtualization="True" Margin="15,10,10,10" RowDetailsVisibilityMode="VisibleWhenSelected" Grid.Column="1" HeadersVisibility="Column" CanUserResizeRows="False" IsReadOnly="True">
    Just remember, this code was auto-generated with the drag & drop onto the Page, so I did little in terms of setting the actual bindings.
    All in all, what I have done so far works as intended, except that when I want to add a row to the table it does not reflect, and that it only shows after refreshing/restarting the application.
    I will try and put together a reproducable sample.

  • Dropdown List binding from web-service storing the reference not the value

    Hi,
    In my human task form, I have a dropdown field who's value list has to be derived from a web-service exposing a table holding the list of values.
    It works perfectly fine for the end-user, as in when a user selects a value, say 'XYZ' in step-1 the next user in step-2 is able to see the value as 'XYZ'.
    However, when I check the payload of the the composite instance in enterprise manager after the instance has left step-1, I do not see the value 'XYZ' in the payload XML; instead I see a string oracle.jbo.Key[2 0 ]. It seems like BPM is storing some sort of a reference to that value that it resolves at run-time thus displaying 'XYZ'. As the user changes the value from the list, the array seem to be changing like [3 0],[1 0],etc.
    Is this how it is expected to behave ? Doesn't seem to be right to me as for all other fields it promptly stores the actual value in the payload and not any sort of reference
    Here's what I did:
    1. Added a Data Control of type web-service and provided the wsdl link for the same. The wizard asks for the operations which in my case is a simple 'select'
    2. From the data control corresponding to the human-task data model, I dragged the field and selected Single Choice>ADF Select One Choice control
    3. Edit binding page opens where the data-control of the web-service is enabled and has the option for providing the input for the web-service
    4. Click ok and the next screen displays 'edit list binding' for the field dragged from the human task payload. Here I add the data control's output object (iterator). Then I provide the data mapping where I define the ID field identifying the value user would select. The display attribute has description of the id.
