Insert or copy query into workbook 7.0

How Can I copy a query into a workbook with new Analyzer 7.0 ?
In the old version (Analyzer 3.x), I can choose Tools->Insert (or copy) query.
How Can I do the same with Analyzer 7.0 ?

Inserting a second query in workbook

I've ran a BI query and successfully saved as a workbook. I would now like to insert a second query into the same workbook on a different Excel tab but I cannot find how to do this from the documentation I have.
If I try an 'Open Query' again it produces the results in a new Excel workbook. I tried (in desperation) copying and pasting from the new workbook into my real workbook but it didn't seem to recognise that sheet as a query when I refreshed the workbook.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks but I have only a BEx Analyser menu option, not the Business Explorer option. I think this is because I am accessing the BEx Analyser on my desktop from doing Start -> All Programs -> Business Explorer -> Analyser.
There is an option to do Start -> All Programs -> Business Explorer -> Business Explorer (SAP BW 3.x) -> Analyser (SAP BW 3.x) which looks more promising as there is a Business Explorer menu option. However when I do Business Explorer -> Settings -> BW server connections I get an Run-time error '61704' internal application error, something I think I need to take up with our IT department.

How to make RRI from query into Workbook???

Hi Alex,
A workbook is a set format of queries, so when you try to jump to another query , you will definitely open another session and hence another excel file. This is the same for web templates also though you have an option of opening the new result in the same window.
You would have to use some macros and open the query on the same page. A RRI is a query jump and not a drill down . A drill down would be getting more of the dimensions into the query.

Hi experts,
when i try to insert query into a workbook i get the following error message
<internal error> Receiving from the BW server failed BW server raised exception: SYSTEM_FAILURE Do you want to see more information?
when i click yes i get
No roll storage space of length 3600 available for OCCURS area.
Further the error reads
Error Gruop
RFC_ERROR_SYSTEM_FAILURE
Message

I would appreciate if someone could give me a quick way to reslove this issue..

Cannot insert query into Workbook

Hi
I am creating workbooks and was able to attach queries to a workbook until last week. When I go to the Design mode, I cannot add the Analysis Grid. It just keeps hanging for ever and never lets me insert the icon.
Have you had this type of problem before?

Insert result of query into a table with unique constraint

Hi,
I have a query result that I would like to store in a table. The target table has a unique constraint. In MySQL you can do
insert IGNORE into myResultTable <...select statement...>
The IGNORE clause means if inserting a row would violate a unique or primary key constraint, do not insert the row, but continue inserting the rest of the query. Leaving the IGNORE clause out would cause the insert to fail and an error to return.
I would like to do this in oracle... that is insert the results of a query that are not already in the target table. What is the best way to do this? One way is use a procedural language and loop through the first query, checking to see if each row is a duplicate before inserting it. I would think this would be slow if there are lots of records. Other options...

Try doing a MINUS instead of not exists., ie Source MINUS Target.
Disabling the constraint will not help you since this will allow the duplicate rows to be inserted into the table. I don't think you want this.

Copying query and workbook related to different Infoprovider

Hi,
I need to copy some queries from an ODS to a MULTIPROVIDER.
I did the following:
1) I used tr RSZC to copy the queries
2) Erased them from ODS with tr RSZDELETE. When the dialog ask me if i want to delete the related workbooks y say NO.
Now, i need to copy the workbooks that still reference the ODS Queries, but with the correct reference (Multiprovider). Is there any way to do this automatically???
Any other transaction to copy all (query + workbooks related) at the same time?
Now i´m editing each workbook manually to reference the correct provider, but have lots of queries :S

How to insert a query into a NEW workbook ?

Could some one tell me how to insert a query into a new workbook? i am trying to run query in NW2004S BEx Query Designer, which always open the query on web when executed. i want to run the query in NW2004S BEx Query Designer and want it to open the result in Excell.
If i am not wrong then to do the same, i need to embed the query into workbook. Correct me if i am wrong. If i am right then plzz tell me the steps to insert the query into workbook.

If you open the BEx Query Designer from the desktop, you cannot execute the query directly to the BEx Analyzer for an Excel view. You can only execute it directly to the Web. This is true for the SAP BW 3.x version as well as the SAP NetWeaver 2004s version.
If you open the BEx Query Designer from within BEx Analyzer, once you select (or create) your query, you will have a green check mark icon that will then allow you to deploy the query directly to the BEx Analyzer for the Excel view.
However, this would only make sense if you are creating or modifying the query. If not, you would simply open BEx Analyzer and use the Open Query option in this tool to see your query in an Excel format, as has been previously suggested by the other respondents to this posting.

1. How to copy a query
Open the Query Designer and choose edit of the query then choose "Save as". This will copy your query. You can also use transaction RSZC to copy queries between different InfoProviders if possible
2. How to insert query in Workbook
Just open the workbook, go to the place you want and click on the option Tools->Insert query (with BW 3.x); With BI 7, just open your workbook, choose a place you want to insert the query and click on the table button, then you have to assign that table to a dataprovider (a query)

1.how may queries in a workbook will depend on the reporting requirement.
2. single or multiple sheet - it is advisable to insert one query in each sheet to avoid confusion.
3. If you are using hierarchies then it is not advisable to use then in worrkbooks, since the values in the cells would keep changing depending on the hierarchy and the level it is expanded etc.
4. To supress zeros you can also do a setting in spro -- > SAP netweaver --> SAP Business information warehouse --> Report-relevant settings --> presenting the numeric value in the Business explorer
Standard settings
Under certain circumstances numeric values and texts for currencies, or units, in the Business Explorer cannot be determined uniquely. In such cases predefined texts are displayed instead of the numeric values, and currencies, or units:
If a Division by zero arises when calculating a numeric value then this text is output.
If a numeric value cannot be determined then this text is output (does not exist).
If a numeric value is not calculated due to numeric overlapping then this text is output.
If a numeric value is made up of several currencies, or units, then this text is output instead of the currency or unit (mixed currencies).
If a user does not have authorization to display a particular numeric value for a cell in the executed query, then this text is output in the cell instead (no authorization).
If a calculated numeric value is made up of different currencies, or units, then the numeric value can or cannot be output. If you choose mixed values then the numeric value is output. If mixed values is not active then the text is output that you entered under "mixed currencies".
Activities
1. Determine the texts that are to be output in the Business Explorer instead of numeric values.
2. Decide whether numeric values, that are made up of different currencies, or units, should be output.

any one can help me how to insert more copy-of-instance into not-finished-still-working multi-join circuit?
my customer told me a fuzzy question.

There is nothing out of the box that will let you create more copies inside a Multiple / Join once it has already created the original copies.
What you could do is to have an Automatic activity create a certain number of work item instances into another process (called "spawned" process in the rest of this thread). One of the argument variables passed into the spawned process instances would need to be a unique correlation id for the original process instance. From the Automatic activity in the original process, the instance could flow into a Message Wait activity where it would wait to be notified once the last of the spawned work item instances complete. A count of number of work item instances created in the spawned process would need to be stored into an external database table. Just before each of the work item instances reached their End activity in the spawned process, they would do two things:
1) any information gathered in the spawned process would need to be stored in the database and
2) the count in the database would be decremented.
If the count is zero (the last one in the spawned process to complete), it would send a notification to the Message Wait activity in the process that spawned the work items. The original process would then need to read the external database to read the information gathered by the spawned process instances.
If you do this, to add another "copy", you would just need to do two things:
1) create another work item instance in the spawned process and
2) increment the count in the external database by one

For the First time i got a chance to work on portal.
Now i need to insert a query into portal..Before that i want to know the whole process.
I have searched in SDN for this creteria...but found some different answers and i got bit confussed.

Hi Saha,
If you are executing queries on portal from role menu then in this case you need to change the URL of report in menu role. This can be done using transaction PFCG. Here you need to maintain the URL format which will point to the Java stack in portal.
if you are executing the reports on portal by clicking on the Infoarea where you can select queries by infoprovider, you need not to do any setting.
To execute report on portal you will need to have Business Intelligence role on portal.
