Inserting a second query in workbook

I've ran a BI query and successfully saved as a workbook. I would now like to insert a second query into the same workbook on a different Excel tab but I cannot find how to do this from the documentation I have.
If I try an 'Open Query' again it produces the results in a new Excel workbook. I tried (in desperation) copying and pasting from the new workbook into my real workbook but it didn't seem to recognise that sheet as a query when I refreshed the workbook.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Raymond,
Thanks but I have only a BEx Analyser menu option, not the Business Explorer option. I think this is because I am accessing the BEx Analyser on my desktop from doing Start -> All Programs -> Business Explorer -> Analyser.
There is an option to do Start -> All Programs -> Business Explorer -> Business Explorer (SAP BW 3.x) -> Analyser (SAP BW 3.x) which looks more promising as there is a Business Explorer menu option. However when I do Business Explorer -> Settings -> BW server connections I get an Run-time error '61704' internal application error, something I think I need to take up with our IT department.

  • Filter button on second query in workbook

I'm using BEx 7.10.  I have a workbook that I added a second query to by inserting a worksheet and inserting an Analysis Grid. That all works fine.  Is there a way to add the "Filter" and "Information" buttons to this second worksheet?  I tried to just copy and paste from the first worksheet, but they don't work.

That is what I tried to do at first.  But it's an excel function to copy the sheet.  You can't even get into design view to change the data provider.  So I added a new design grid and navagation pane.  I could then change the data provider but for the navagation pane (which controls the Filter button) whatever change I made also changed the original worksheet.  So this didn't work out too well.  Is the filter button workbook specific, meaning you can only have one, can't have one on each sheet?  And how is macro or VB code attached to that button?

  • Insert Query in workbook

    Hi
Can anyone of you please give me some information or any links explaning step by step procedure on:
    1. How to copy a query
    2. How to insert query in Workbook
    Many Thanks

    Hello,
    1. How to copy a query
Open the Query Designer and choose edit of the query then choose "Save as". This will copy your query. You can also use transaction RSZC to copy queries between different InfoProviders if possible
    2. How to insert query in Workbook
Just open the workbook, go to the place you want and click on the option Tools->Insert query (with BW 3.x); With BI 7, just open your workbook, choose a place you want to insert the query and click on the table button, then you have to assign that table to a dataprovider (a query)

  • Query and Workbook BI 7.0

    Hi
    I am in BI 7.0
1)I created a query X and saved it as workbook. When I edit the changes in query, I don't see the changes reflected in workbook.I thought if I change the query or workbook, the changes should take place.
    2) I have to create 12 queries of same structure but contains different hardcoded costcenters. Can somebody advice me what is the  best method to accomplish the above requirement.Should I create query or query views and what major differences did you guys observe between Query and Query View from your expereince and practices...

    Hi Jacky,
If you change the query this way you wont have to re-insert the query each time you make changes.
    1. Open the workbook.
    2. Select the query by clicking on it. Then use the Edit query option from the toolbar.
    3. Make changes to the query.
    4. Execute the query by clicking the Green check mark.
    5. After making sure that the changes have been applied, save the workbook.
    Hope this helps...

  • How to add more than 1 query in workbook

    Hi All,
How do we add More than 1 query in workbook, Can any one provide me steps.
    Thanks in Advance.

    Hi,
If you are using BI7 Bex analyazer, please check whether the following explanation helps you:
"Steps of creating workbook and to insert more than one query in a workbook.
•When you run a query and it opens in Bex Analyzer you can click the save button and pick "Save as Workbook".
•Once you save it as a workbook Click on the "Design Mode" button in the Bex toolbar (looks like an A).
•Click in the sheet where you want the new query to go, click the "Analysis Grid" button. It will add the analysis grid to your new sheet.
•Right click on the Analysis grid and go to properties.
•Click on button to change data provider and select the query you want to attach.
•Exit design mode and you should be all set. "

  • Inserting Multiple queries into a workbook

    Hi Friends,
I have to insert multiple queries into a workbook and each query should be in a different worksheet of the work book.
I have gone thru some of the SAP documentation, for example http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/3a/89883989676778e10000000a11402f/frameset.htm
In above link under the fatures section it says
If you want to insert a query into the active workbook:
Open a workbook and, from the BEx toolbar, choose Tools ® Insert Query.... The query is then inserted into the current worksheet starting at the active cell
But when i chech in the tools under desig tools, i have lot of options like insert grid, insert checbox, radio button extc, but i dont have "Insert query".
I am using BI7 Bex analyazer, The Only way i am able to insert a new query into a work sheet using BI7 is that first i have to design the work sheet but including design elemenst in my case i am using Grid. But this is not giving the correct display.
Did anyone insert multiple queries in the same workbook? if you can you please let me know how did u acheive this?.
    Thanks in adv.
    Regards
    BN

    Hi Rajesh,
Thanks for your response, but in BI7 Bex analyser you dont have the option of insert query from tools.
Rather what i did is (maynot be the correct way), i have executed the query and saved it as work book and in the tools there is an option "copy Sheet". If you select this the same layout is copied to the 2nd sheet, there just change the assignment of design items to a new Dataprovider. Attach the new query to the new Dataprovider.
It works for me, as of now
But i have  questions regarding selection screen.
    1. In this work book i am embbeding 6 queries and each query individually has variables. When i execute the workbook i get the selection screen, in the selection screen all the common variables are shown in one grouping and other in a different grouping. Is this correct way of selection screen display?.
    2. I want to see the variable screen every time i open the work book, how can i acheive this?.

  • We have upgraded to BI7 and When I am trying to save a query as workbook

    Hi,
we have upgraded to BI7 and When I am trying to save a query as workbook and open it is opening but a junk data is getting displayed in the excel workbook. The excel version is 2007.
But when I tried the same with excel version 03 it is opening fine with valid data.
    Pl help.
    Thanks in adavance,

Thanks Bernd:  I am using Adobe Acrobat 10 Pro.  I did get a response from Dave Marchant which directed me how to find the layers icon and I found the options icon as suggested in Adobe Help.  However, the options do not allow me to choose an option of either merging layers or flattening layers.  I am a novice at this and am trying to get this 1-page pdf graphic to convert to a Word document.  Is it possible that I already have a single layer pdf and that Word is doing something weird during the conversion?  I tried to convert the document yesterday and I ended up with two pages in Word.  One page had the text boxes and one had the river channels on which the text boxes had been inserted.  This is not a document I created.  We have been struggling for 5 years at various times to get this one page document into Word so that it can be used in multiple reports.  Even the graphics departments at a couple of companies have not been able to get this document resized from the original 11 x 17 format into 8.5 x 11.  I managed to get that done yesterday.  But now can't get a useable version into Word.  Suggestions?

  • Query on workbook.

Is it possible to build Query on workbook?
ie: Is it possible to summarize the results of two querys and to display the result in another query.
Problem: Due to wrong definition of field the data get overflowed and results in sql error in query.
Now if i change the field definition thant its a risky process due to the data presence for field in different target.
Instead of that i have planned to built two queries with different selection and summarize the result in third query and attach the third query in webtemplate for web reporting.
    Sure points for valid inputs.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Armstrong,
Yes, it is possible to summarize the results of two querys and to display the result in another query by using workbook.
Create a workbook with the two queries in two seperate worksheets(sheet1 & sheet2) in the workbook.
Take a new work sheet(sheet3) for the 3rd query i.e. result query. In this worksheet you copy the result of 1st query and 2nd query and add it
    or
You can write a formulia for adding these two query result.
Select the cell which you want the summiation of 1st and 2nd query to be displayed in sheet3. Type = in that cell and click the sheet1 and select the result of 1st query ( we displayed 1st query in sheet1) then type + and click sheet2 and select the result of 2nd query ( we displayed 2nd query in sheet2) then press enter. Now you can see the summiation of these two queries in that cell in sheet3.
Now attach this workbook in webtemplate for web reporting.
I hope you understand the procedure. If you have any clarifications let me know.
    Regards,
    Patil.

  • Discoverer EUL Workbooks - Query Statistics, Workbooks Queried By User

    Hi there.
I've just ran Discoverer EUL workbooks and found out a nice functionality on one of those queries. It's on EUL Query Statistics workbook, "Workbooks Queried By User" worksheet (and others).
If you take a look at the "Worksheet Usage" column, you'll notice that there's an effect that looks a lot like a "progress bar". According to the times that worksheet was used, this bar advances or retract.
I noticed it's a calculated column, but when I try to edit it, it shows no more than COUNT_DISTINCT("Date & Sheet"). I got a little confused on how this COUNT_DISTINCT shows that "progress bar"....
So... how can I implement this on my DM queries?
    TIA.

You need Desktop. When you format the data, there is a check box to show graphical bars. This option is not available in Plus, but the bars will show up when the report is displayed in Plus.

  • Default Query or Workbook on BEx Open

Is there a way for individual users to set a default Query or workbook to execute when they open BEx?

    Hi
There is a way to do it using Windows functionality.
right click on the Analyzer icon and add the full path name of the work book (which is saved on the local PC) in the Target text box.
You can also open the saved work book and then run the Analyzer.
I don't think there is a way to do it via the BW server.
    Thanks Edan

  • Query or Workbook or Web Template-Process chain

    Hai Friends,
I want to broadcast reports.Which type of the report is more attractive among Query or Workbook or Web Template?Suppose if we select Workbook as type, will it support for process chain which will create to automate the broadcasting process? On every data change will the workbook automatically changes it's data.Usually we will do layout settings ONLY for workbook. Will all the settings remain same when the new data is changed every month?
Please, reply me with ur valuable answers
    Thanks
    Mohan Chand Reddy A

    Hi Mohan,
You can use either of them for broadcasting, just check the requirement with your business. And using process chain you will raise an Data change event and in your broadcast setting you will have to mark the option i.e. Broadcast on data change.
So whichever queries or workbooks have that setting on the particular Infoprovider. And once you raise the data change event for that Infoprovider through process chain, all the reports will be broadcasted.

  • How to combine insert and where query ?

    hi..
could somebody guide me how to combine insert and where query ?
    insert into tdc_imarspc (ANUMBER,EMF_ID,PRODUCT) values ('1234567','65','ITFS')
    where anumber not like '1234567';
    Thank you,
    Baharin

    Hi, Baharin,
As Mahesh said, WHERE only works on a query.
You can always base a query on dual, like this:
    INSERT INTO
    tdc_imarspc (ANUMBER,     EMF_ID,     PRODUCT)
    SELECT          '1234567',     '65',     'ITFS'
    FROM         dual
WHERE          anumber      NOT LIKE '1234567';Of course, you can use a literal, like '1234567' in both places where I used the bind variable, but if you're not using a variable, why would you want to?
You could also put all the literals in a sub-query (based on dual), and reference column names in the main WHERE clause, LIKE THIS:
    INSERT INTO
    tdc_imarspc (     ANUMBER,     EMF_ID,          PRODUCT)
    WITH     sub_q
    AS  (
SELECT    '1234567' AS an,     '65' AS ei,     'ITFS' AS pr
        FROM      dual
    SELECT          an,          ei,          pr
    FROM     sub_q
    WHERE      an      NOT LIKE '1234567';
I assume you're not really saying
an      NOT LIKE '1234567'If you're not using any wild cards after LIKE, you might as well use !=
    an      != '1234567'

  • HELP! How to make RRI from BEX query into Workbook with one report???

How to make RRI from query into Workbook???

    Hi Alex,
A workbook is a set format of queries, so when you try to jump to another query , you will definitely open another session and hence another excel file. This is the same for web templates also though you have an option of opening the new result in the same window.
You would have to use some macros and open the query on the same page. A RRI is a query jump and not a drill down . A drill down would be getting more of the dimensions into the query.
