Inserting flash w3c compliant

Hi guys
I’m inserting a flash banner into my page. If I do it
through dreamweaver it works fine on all browsers although it is
not w3c compliant due to the fact that it is embedded. I have got
it w3c compliant (no embedded) although firefox does not display it
(over 25% of users) is there a work around this?
Cheers guys

For xhtml valid code you'd need to use the Flash Satay method
http://www.alistapart.com/articles/flashsatay/
Although that has few issues itself, covered in the article.
Hope this helps

  • Insert Flash with Dreamweaver CS3 Question

So I have been building websites for awhile and have always relied on the built in insert flash object that came with dreamweaver as I have never had issues with it.
However as I finished a site recently the client had a friend look at it and brought up the red flag that the site was not w3 compliant.  So I go and look at the little tool they have and the only error that comes up is related to the insertion of flash on the page.
I googled it a bit and found a number of people saying that the insert flash through dreamweaver will no show up as compliant.  A couple solutions to fix the problem.
But before I go down that road, I want to ask. ...Does it really matter here?  Seems like Dreamweaver insertion would be compliant? I mean come on the link that the w3 give to fix the problem is a link from a fix created in 2002.
I have never heard of anyone saying no the flash does not show up so right off I am not terribly concerned but it would be nice to know..
Also if it is important and suggestions as to a nice fix to the issue would be great.
    Thanks for your time,
    Chris

    Right you are!
I tend to spot check pages and haven't done a W3C check on a flash embed in my websites (apparently). Just did one pursuant to your question. The page is 100% compliant without the Flash video. has 51 errors, 35 warnings with it. Lots of those errors are Adobe-generated Javascript that handles the flash video insert, skins it and so on.
Here is where Adobe may not be compliant with the W3C.

  • CSS Help! Inserting flash into a div has caused layout change

    Hi,
I am trying to insert flash into a div. I'm new to CSS so I
think I must be doing something wrong. As soon as I insert the
flash the layout goes wrong and all divs below it are pushed down
out of my "main" div. I've now taken the flash.swf out and inserted
an image again, but it's still wrong. It previews fine in the
    browser though.
    Any ideas!?

  • My muse site does not pass the W3C compliant test. Why?

I ran the W3C compliant program against my home page generated HTML from Muse.  It complained about missing arguments and the use of some obsolete statements.  Is anyone else having this sort of problem?

Do you have any custom HTML added to your site through Object -> Insert HTML option or HTML for <head> in Page Properties that contains broken HTML causing the problem? A site URL would help in identifying the issue.
    Thanks,

  • Insert Flash 6_and_over in Keynote 3.0

I want to insert flash animation in my presentation within the Keynote application ! I've already activate the Flash content in Quicktime... is doesn't work !!!
I heard that quicktime just run the flash 5 files and older versions. Is it possible to run flash 6,7,8,9 and others ??
If it's not possible, is there a way to convert my swf files in flash 5 files ?
    Thanks!

    Welcome to the discussions, gabriel_parent.
You would have to own a copy of Macromedia Flash in order to open those files and resave as the older version.

  • No Insert Flash dialog box in PPT files with links to Word

Presenter will not display the "Insert Flash (swf)" dialog box in PowerPoint presentations that have slides linked to a Word document.
It works fine in PPT presentations that do not have the links to Word.
I need to import a SWF in the presentation as well as have Word link to the slides in PPT.
    Is there a solution?

The solution was to install a later version of Presenter. It works now.

  • Insert Flash not working in Presenter 7.0

    Hi
I've been using Presenter for a while without any problems. I've recently had to install the Tech Comms Suite (2.0) onto a new laptop though and now I cant insert flash into my slides. All that happens is that the systems moves focus to any of my other windows.
    Anyone out there help?
I'm using Office 2003, XP and full Tech Comms Suite v2
    Nick.

    I think I found a fix.
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=153&platform=Windows
Even though the Adobe updater said I had the most up-to-date version of the software it was lieing. I had to go and apply all patches from 7.0.1 onwards. This seems to now allow me to insert flash again.
Thanks for the posts and I hope Adobe sort this app out, not being compatible with Captivate 5 or AS3 is not good.
    Regards,
    Nick.

  • Inserting Flash movies

I often insert .swf files in my html pages however, lately I
have been trying to insert flash movies in the middle of a bunch of
text. I do something similar with and then, using the property
inspector's align dialog box, I either set the image to be on the
right, the left, or one of the other options. By doing that, the
image looks the way I want it to with the text wrapping around it.
I see that the same type of options appear in the property
inspector when I insert a .swf file but I don't get the desired
result as I do with images. The only way I can fake the look I want
is by putting the flash movie in it's own cell in a table and
breaking up the text above, below or next to the movie the best way
that I can but this is not reliable and I sometimes end up with too
much white space. Is there a parameter I need to set or a style to
add to the swf object? I'd appreciate any suggestions.Thank
    you.

  • Unknown error when inserting Flash text [was: Error]

When I try to insert Flash text into a document, I keep getting an error message that says "Unknown error". What should I do? I'm taking a class online and we happen to be covering this feature.

After nearly ripping my eyeballs out and chucking my laptop out the window, I finally fixed the problem!
For some reason I didn't have a CMaps folder in my Adobe - Common Files - Font folder:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Fonts\Reqrd\CMaps
So I made the "CMaps" folder and copied and pasted the files "Identity-H" and "Identity-V" from an "Adobe Reader" CMap folder, and now I can save text in an *.ai file with PDF Compatibility checked.
It's pretty strange Illustrator was working for 2 years without this folder, and now all the sudden it needed it.  Also, this is a very obscure fix.
Hopefully the programmers at Adobe have fixed these bugs in newer versions.

  • Update for Insert Flash Video command

I looked at DW for the very first time, having recently
upgraded all my hardware and software. I now have the full Master
Collection - very exciting. Opened DW with great trepidation after
a lifetime with my beloved GoLive and was confronted with the
strong recommendation to do an update to protect against
insecurities arising with the Insert Flash Video Command.
Eventually I printed out the instructions provided in the technote
and followed them to the letter. All went well until the
verification stage. The technote tells me that the updated files
should have a creation date of 15th January 2008. Mine was 9th
January. I just want to know if this matters? Do I need to repeat
the whole procedure as the instructions tell me I should if the
files are not updated. In fact they have updated but just not to
the correct date. And why should it turn out any differently if I
do it again? I am puzzled.
I have obviously never used the Insert Flash video command
since I've never even used DW itself so maybe I didn't even need to
do the update at all in the first place anyway. But I thought I'd
better, in case I used the command at some time in the future,
although the possibility of me using something so technical seems
remote at this stage. (I am yet to learn Flash.)
I updated both DW and Contribute as suggested in spite of not
even knowing what Contribute is for yet.

The "Security Update Available" still shows on my welcome
    screen, even after updating it.

  • Insert flash video? Won't play

Any tips on inserting Flash video into a project in Captivate 4?
I can get video to appear an play in Preview, but after publishing, the video doesn't appear and the slide forwards.
(Also, there seems to be a conssitent problme where preview is inaccurate.)

The videos are in the same folder as the project, and they appear in the published folder.
    Tried path 2 ways:
    myvideo.flv
    /myvideo.flv
    Neither made a difference.
There are 3 videos on this slide --- could that be a problem?

  • Links from images broken in "W3C Compliant"

I raised a false alarm, for which I apologize.
There is one issue that affects IE when WebHelp is generated
with W3C Compliant topics. Please see a new post about that.
There are some code differences, but they do not break links
to a popup or jump to another topic in IE 6, IE 7, or Firefox
    2.0.0.13 (released yesterday).
Again, if anyone wasted time trying to verify broken links, I
    am truly sorry.
    Harvey

    Hello Harvey -
Testing your initial post wasn't a waste of time...in fact I
learned a VERY IMPORTANT LESSON about RH, IE, Firefox, Opera and
    image/hyperlink screen tips.
I learned that IE6 "screen tip on hover" reads the RH "Image
screen tip" entry but FF and Opera read the RH "Hyperlink screen
    tip" entry.
THUS: to make IE and FF/Opera screen tips "appear" the same,
one must enter the SAME screen tip into BOTH the Image Screen Tip
text box and the Hyperlink Screen Tip text box!
(Now, how long will it take me to check 3,000 images and
    hyperlinks in my current project?)

  • IIS6 - W3C Compliant - WebHelp Explosions

Here's an interesting issue that I would like to hear everyone's opinions regarding. I received an e-mail from my client's networking guy the other day stating that he was getting a random error every now and again when clicking on multiple topics in the WebHelp I created. I was confused BEYOND BELIEF! I had never run into a problem with this before, and I've created tons of help systems in the past. I would be interested to hear what you all think I could have done differently to prevent this from occuring. (Don't check the W3C Compliant checkbox, etc) It's a very interesting use case....and hopefully this helps someone else who may run into such a situation.
He sent me this e-mail this morning saying that it's fixed...
    Error Message
The issue with the error message showing after a number of page hits has been fixed.  The issue is with the headers on each file.  They are not proper for IIS6 due to a major flaw in IIS6.  I verified this without creating a virtual directory which means that these pages are served up as pure html and bypass my security.
The solution is to delete the first 5 lines of every file and replace with the following.
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN">
    The lines being removed are:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN"
    <!-- saved from url=(0014)about:internet -->
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
There is an article at http://w3.org/brief/MTE2 that explains this issue.  Basically, IIS is downloading the instructions on how to handle an XML formatted document from the w3 site every time a page is requested.  Since this document never changes, these unnecessary downloads are being treated as a Denial Of Service attack and our server’s IP eventually gets blocked.  The header that we are now using is more appropriate anyway.

  • Mac Install Issues: Please Insert Flash CS4??

I just purchased and downloaded PSE6 to replace my old version, which was 4.0. Well, I started the installation and got a message to insert Adobe Flash CS4. I don't have Flash installed. I had the trial a long time ago, but I uninstalled it. So at the advice of other pages I found on google, I downloaded and ran the Adobe CS4 cleaner script, but it informed me that I had no CS4 installations.
I don't know why the installer is insisting that I insert Flash CS4 when it isn't even on my computer. Since I don't have a Flash disc, the only thing I can think of is downloading the Flash trial DMG, but I'd rather not if there is a simpler solution.
    Here's the error I get: http://img.skitch.com/20090402-n9attpcr2d5pf5dma8hu7dukcp.png

You need to run the cleanscript again.
