Inside wire maintenance for residence with spotty service

Most jacks in an older home probably with copper wiring are no longer or only intermittently working.  Sounds like a problem with the wiring under the house?  One is still working, and the one at the outside box works.  Can inside wire maintenance be added to a residential plan to get this repaired?

Wire Maintenance can be added to a residential account. Just call Verizon and ask for it to be added to your bill. From there, confirm that it's on there with another call a day or two later, and then ask for a repair.

  • Inside Wire Maintenance = Cramming

I specifically de-selected "Inside Wire Maintenance" when I subscribed to by Fios service, yet somehow it got added back on without my permission. When I tried to contact them through the website to remove it, I was informed that I would need to CALL to remove a service that I never ordered in the first place. This is the very definition of "cramming"... From the FCC:
Cramming is the illegal act of placing unauthorized charges on your wireline, wireless, or bundled services telephone bill. The FCC has estimated that cramming has harmed tens of millions of American households.
Deception is the hallmark of cramming. Crammers often rely on confusing telephone bills to trick consumers into paying for services they did not authorize or receive, or that cost more than the consumer was led to believe.
This is one reason that I hate dealing with the phone companies. I have no need for inside wire maintenance, and the fact that they want to charge me $120 a year for a service I will never use is ridiculous. Consider that phone wiring can easily last fifty years. Replacing the wiring in an average home is about $400-$500 on the high end... 4 years of maintenance expense... meaning that if you are paying for the service continuously, they can make an extra $5500 over the life of the wiring for providing nothing. You'd be better off keeping that money for yourself and paying out of pocket IF you ever need the service... most people will never need it... which is what they count on. And this is the reason they like to sneak it into the bill and hope you don't notice.
I want this service removed, as I did not order it in the first place. Why do I need to take time out of my work day to make a personal call to their office to remove it? Deception used to add an unauthorized charge to my line... Why does the FCC let Verizon continue to get away with it? Consumers need to stand up and demand that these charges be removed and refuse to keep paying them.

  • How do I remove the inside wire maintenance plan?

After several searches, I've gotten a lot of hits about coverage, but none about removal.  When it's listed on the "Change Services" screen, there's a list on the right that has a spot for "removed services," but there doesn't seem to be any facility for actually removing any services.
Inside wire maintenance is a service that I do not require, and like many, I'm looking to trim unnecessary costs from the monthly budget.  How do I nix this service?

You must call their business office during normal hours. Many items can be added, but most you must call to have removed.

  • FDM Configuration - no option for 'Register with Shared Services'

    Hi All,
I'm running the confiiguration for a new install of our Hyperion environment and when I run the configuration on our FDM server, the summary of tasks does not show 'Register with Shared Services'. We have installed this following the exact same steps as we did in a prior test environment and this option shows up fine in there.
Does anyone know how we can add this item to the configuration?
    Thanks in advance.

    Andy,
If they were truly identical then the option to register with HSS would be there.
Something must not be identical in the system.
Check the installation logs to verify that the Oracle/Hyperion software was installed properly.
Check with IT to ensure that the servers were built the same.
    Thank you,

  • Verizon Internet Security Suite/ 3 and Fios Inside Wire Maintenance Plans

I just noticed yesterday that I had been charged $6.99 a month for the "FIOS inside Maintenance Plan" and $5.95 a month for the Verizon Internet Security Suite/3 for the past 4 years. After calling customer service to inquire about these plans, I now understand that these plans are optional and automatically added to your bill unless you personally call and have Verizon remove them from your service.
Wanted to share some thoughts and see if people out there feel the same way I do.
I understand the Inside Maintenance Plan but I question the economical value to the customer, especially if it does not know it is paying for the plan.
I do not understand the Internet Security Suite/3. Here I feel it is a total rip off. Nobody has been able to convey what the plan is all about and what value it adds to the customer.
I feel that have been deceived and misled into paying for two plans I did not know I had because nobody presented the optional plans to me when I placed my order. Verizon provides these plans to you for free for 30 days, and if you don't call to cancel, the service continues automatically.
Granted, if you carefully read your bill, as the Customer Service Representative so judiciously told me, you will notice that these plans are added to your bill as separate line items and up to you to question them. I personally think that these practices are unethical, benefit the company, and at the end, it is always the customer that loses. Whether these plans have merit or not, Verizon should be clear and transparent with its customers when they place their orders. The customers must be given all the information they need about these plans so they can make rational decisions on whether they will really benefit from these plans and be given the opportunity to decline these plans when they configure the order of their new service. Furthermore, I really see no value for Verizon to throw these plans in for free for one month as there is no measurable way for the customer to determine whether these plans provide any kind or value to them. Whether deliberate or not, what ends up happening is that hundreds of thousands of customers fail to follow up after one month to cancel the plans and they ended paying for them until they realize just like me that they had been paying for something they did not want at the first place. If Verizon offers the plans for free trial to its customers, the burden should be on Verizon to follow up with the customers to determine if they want to continue the plan or not. That seems to me like a fair compromise.

Verizon Internet Security Suite is nothing more than money down the drain.  It's a throw away.  Get rid of it and use avast.com and malwarebytes.com, free virus programs that can do the job a lot better.  VISS kept saying for the longest time that my computer had no viruses until one day it slowed down to the point where I could no longer get onto the Internet, all because of viruses that VISS never detected!  What Verizon doesn't tell you is that it's the cheapest program on which Verizon can get the lowest bid and don't be fooled just because it's "powered" by McAfee.  I had to pay a computer expert from the phone book 165 bucks to learn this and at least now I am saving money.

  • Service entry sheet create for contracts with unplanned services

    Hi,
I am creating SES using BAPI_ENTRYSHEET_CREATE. I have a scenario in which i need to create SES based on the PO no, PO Item , Quantity, Headertext, Contract No, Contract Item, Contract_Item_Line. While creating manual SES using ML81N we use Contract button to provide contract no, item and service(service with master, without master). When i am creating SES it is creating SES but the service is getting posted as unplanned not contract checkbox. In ML81N screen there are four checkboxes for any service line. 1)Plannes 2) Unplanned 3)Contract 4) Dele. Indicator
In my case it should flag the contract button but when there is an unplanned service for any contract no, it is flagging the Unplanned checkbox not contract checkbox.
    Please suggest
    Thanks
    Randhir

you can get the PackNo details of entry sheet from ESSR and of PO from EKPO. from the packno find the subpack no in ESLL. put the subpack no again in ESLL as pack number and you get the services for entry sheet and PO. you may try a logic to link both

  • Possible fix for problems with Location Services!!!!

Alright, I had just bought a brand new iPod Touch 5th Generation and was having trouble with any app that used Location services (Siri, Weather, Maps, etc) and it was driving me absolutely crazy. Now, I live in a very VERY rural area in Pennsylvania (basically the middle of nowhere) and my new iTouch kept saying "cannot determine location" no matter what app I was using that utilized Location Services. After 4-5 days straight of searching various websites looking for help (including this one), I came up completely empty handed and had pretty much given up on getting it to work correctly. Somewhere along the line, I found out about Skyhook Wireless and the process for adding my wireless network to their database. I thought to myself "What the heck? It can't hurt to at least try..." even after reading on multiple websites that Apple no longer works with Skyhook. So I gave it a shot,..
I went to the following website: http://skyhookwireless.com/howitworks/submit_ap.php
I entered my address into the first empty text field and then clicked the "MAP IT" button.
It deteremined where I was (pretty darn accurately if I say so myself) so I moved on and entered my Wireless Router's MAC Address in the corresponding field.
Then I entered my email address in the corresponding field, completed the CAPTCHA, and hit "SUBMIT".
I received an email a few moments later from Skyhook letting me know they had successfully received my submission and then I sat back for a few moments, crossing my fingers and hoping for the sake of my sanity that it had worked.
After about an hour or so, I tried to get my local weather using the Weather app that comes pre-installed on iOS. Still, it couldn't find my current location. the Maps app gave me the same result.
I sat here planning my next course of action and came up with...you guessed it....nothing!
I said screw it and went about my business for the day. A few days went by and I was visiting a very good friend of mine and I had my iTouch with me. Now my friend lives even further in the sticks than I do but for some unknown and shocking reason, my location services worked PERFECT at their house (every single app I tried that in one way or another used Location Services, it worked every time) so I asked my friend if it would be alright with them to go grab my wireless router and switch with them for a day or two, just as a last ditch effort for the sake of science and my own sanity. They said it wouldn't be a problem at all. So we traded wireless routers for a day or two.
Upon hooking their router up at my house and using the Weather & Maps apps, it still showed up that I was still at their house and showed the local weather for the town that was nearest to them. I was like "Hey, it's better than nothing!" so I left it go for a day or two.
Upon arriving at my friends house to grab my original router and give them back their original router, I checked my iTouch and, lo & behold, it showed my home as my current location and the correct local weather for the city/town closest to my home address, even though I was at their house. I felt so dumbfounded and almost cried because I had actually gotten it to work. I unhooked my original router, hooked my friend's back up, and it showed up that I was exactly where I was supposed to be - at my friend's house.
I brought my original router back to my house, hooked it up and Cha-CHING! It WORKED!!!!! It showed that I was at my house and showed the correct local weather.
And there you have it, How I was able to solve my location services woes.
I'm not saying it will help out everybody else's location service problems but it is worth a shot, it worked for me.
If this DOES help anyone else out, please reply so as to confirm that it wasn't just me that it works for.

Thank you @sberman for a fast replay, I read the article, but still it doesn't explain why it doesn't show at least that I'm in Europe, while my android phone, having set just wifi as location reference, shows my position at 1km accurately(I don't live in a city, that's why such a big radius) in Google Maps.I also saw the time zone, if I set it automatically, detection through wifi doesn't work, it just keeps refreshing.

  • Best advice for dealing with awful service?

    Hey everyone!
So my roommate and I have a problem with att at least once a month, so much that they not only have to prorate our bill monthly but we have to have supervisors call us back for service follow ups (that often) and now we have the red light flashing once again for broadband1 so we've been trying EVERYTHING but of course to only be unsuccessful. Two questions....1) do we chalk it up to a faulty broadband1 cord and hope they come out and fix it (weve had several 'simple' issues like this that have required multiple att servicemen to come out who are absolutely clueless or (my favorite) 'don't have the right part' or 2) do we finally say forget it and just get rid of att altogether....talking to robots for 3 hours to resolve 'simple' issues is a service I don't think anyone should be paying $100+ for every month....were just absolutely frustrated with att and over paying so much for awful service and hopefully on a forum like this we can get advice from people who've had similar problems (and can't ever find any decent customer service) and if they have advice to switch to any other service providers that offer much better quality and service to customers...we'd seriously appreciate any advice towards a better solution. Thanks!

  • Printer for ipad with Verizon service

My parents have an ipad2 that has service through Verizon.  They have no other internet service in their home, no wireless router.  Is there a printer that will work with this type of situation?  This is all new to me as I have wireless in my home.  Any suggestions would be much appreciated as they are getting antsy about getting a printer.  Thanks =)

if they have no WiFi in their home are they only connecting to the Internet through the cell data on their iPad?
You can buy some AirPrint compatible printers that will let you set up an ad hoc network on the printer itself. You then connect the iPad (via WiFi) to the network created by the printer and print to it using AirPrint.

  • I recently downloaded i tunes for windows with xp service pack 3.  I chose the automatic search for music on my computer to import into itunes.  However, after completion all the tracks were copied twice?  What's up with that?

How would I go about deleting all the duplicate tracks that were imported?

The reason I would think your iTunes stopped working is because your system is no longer compatible as iTunes requires Windows XP SP 2 in order to work properly.
If you want to back up your iTunes content then I would suggest opening My Documents>My Music and choose the whole iTunes folder and move it to an external drive. That is normally where all your content is saved, unless you didn't have 'Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library' selected in iTunes then you might want to use the whole My Music folder as your backup.

  • What is Inside Wire Maintenance and is it really necessary

I'm getting Charged 9.99 a month for Inside Wire Maintenance.  I just want to be clear on what it really is. I've been reading that without this "insurance" Verizon would charge me a ridiculous amount of money to fix any problems if it were a problem with the wires inside my apartment, say or faulty jack or whatever....but if it's anything else say outisde, i heard that verizon don't charge for this.
BUT most of the time when the tech comes, it's never a problem with anything inside my house, it's always a problem with the small box that contains the copper wire connections (not the NID box but the other small box  which i don't know the name) outside the yard, in the backyard of the building.   If it's problem with the box in the backyard of the building, then technically it's not an inside wire problem correct? so Verizon should not charge me right?
This means i don't really need inside wire maintenance correct?
IF so How do i go about REmoving this service?

Verizon charges if there is a problem inside ($90-$100) that isn't caused by their equipment. An example is if there's an issue and they have to replace your coax cable inside or change out a wall outlet. A charge would apply. If a problem is on their end such as they find out its the dvr/stb causing issues or the ONT a charge would not apply. In some cases if they show up and find no issues at all them a fee might apply.
Is it worth the $9.99 a month? IMO no. The chances of an issue going on with something not on their end is rare.
It would be cheaper to pay a one time fee to fix anything if ever needed then pay $9.99 a month which ends up costing more in the end.
If you want to remove it just call them 1-800 Verizon.
Also, considering their terms are always changing, you can also ask them about when a technician fee would apply.

  • Inside wire maintenance?

I still have the inside wire maint. on my bill at $6.99 per month
now that I have fios phone/internet/tv, is this still relevant?
Im wondering if it covers all components of the service not just the phone.  If it covers all, it seems worth the cost.
    does anyone know.
for the phone, I have rarely had to call for repair and called once for a new line.

    Hello songbird69,
The inside wire maintenance plan only covers the phone wires, not the coax run or cat 5.

    PAK_A : 1 PAK for ASA5515-CTRL-LIC (Entitlement Qty:2)
    PAK_B: 1 PAK for L-ASA5555-TAMC= (Entitlement Qts:2)
Also these FireSIGHTs which monitors these ASAs are H/A.
The SKUs of FireSIGHTs are following:
    -FS1500-K9
    -FS1500-BASE-K9
    In this case, I assume that these steps are necessary for generating licenses for ASA with FirePOWER Servies;
Go to license page ( www.cisco.com/go/license) and input PAK_A. Then following the steps and on “Add Device”section, should I input the following 3 devices license keys ?
    -Another ASA5515-FPWR-K9
    -FS1500-K9
    -FS1500-BASE-K9
And then 2 licenses which are one is for FS1500-K9 and the other is for FS1500-BASE-k9 are to be generated.
*I have to do that same operation for PAK_B.
Q1: Is this right? Do I understand the steps correctly ?
Q2 :If the answer for Q1 is Yes, does it mean that any license is not required for ASA with FirePOWER services ?

    Hi,
For the PIDs "ASA5515-CTRL-LIC" and "L-ASA5555-TAMC=" you will be provided with PAKs.
If you are trying to setup HA please check on the forum link for HA setup, https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/12320876/how-can-i-make-my-license-high-availabilityor-ha-license
    Steps to register the PAK,

  • Planning V11 Installation - Register with Shared Services: Failed

    Hi,
I have just installed the Hyperion Planning Version 11. The installation was a piece of cake. I selected all the relevant components and the installer took care of the installation and the installation sequence. When I tried the configuration, I went ahead with the configuration of foundation services first and decided to do the rest of the components later. When I completed the shared services configuration I started the configuration of the remaining components.
All of the various elements got configured correctly except for Registration with Shared Services. I have since then restarted the machine several times, made sure Shared Services is running (I can also login to interop from the browser - however provisioning features arent working), and I have essentially redone the whole configuration again and again.
    Can anyone please advise?
    Shehzad

    Hi,
Glad to hear you think the installation was a piece of cake!!
I think you may get this error when configuring a product selecting "perform first time configuration".
Are you using a single repository for all your products?
Could you maybe recreate new databases, including shared services and try again?
