Install 9iDS in corporate network

We are planning to deploy 9iDS to 300+ users (developers) in our company. We
usually do installations in the lab as client-server where we package the
client settings in a file and then distribute it through the system to all
targeted users and PCs. The software gets installed on the server, It's just
the registry entries and some necessary files that get copied to client PCs.
We tried to do the same for 9iDS. Forms Builder and other components work well;
but we are facing a problem in running the form on local PCs; i.e. start OC4J
process to run the form.
As in 9iDS the only way to run the form is starting OC4J first, we cannot share
this component among all developers. I changed to location of all log files to
the local PC so that users will be able to start there own process, but couldn't change the location of transaction.state file.
It's not possible to do single PC installation for all developers in our company.
The only 2 ways I thought of is installing a local OC4J separately or let the developers copy the forms every time to an iAS server and run it from there.
Have any tried network deployment of 9iDS or know how to do that?
Regards,
Alia

Hi,
I think I've found a workaround. Thanks to Michiel Kuik in Metalink Forum.
As he said, persistence directory seems will always be ../persistence from config directory.
Well, in the command line of startinst.bat to startup OC4J, there is a switch -config .../server.xml.
Just copy server.xml file into a previous empty config directory in a local drive and create a persistence directory. Then modify server.xml to redirect paths to the network drive. Of course, log were already redirected.
Then modify startinst.bat to point the new server.xml.
It seem works with Forms Builder.
I'm still testing Reports and others.

discussions.apple.com as well as facebook.com don't work if I'm connected to my corporate network using VPN. I am forced to use Camino in I want to access those sites. Does anyone know why?
    Thanks!

You might try installing a fresh version of SafariStand and see if you still have the problem with dead links. I'm not familiar with the 'Quick Search' feature but you could have a look at Glims. Don't try to run both Glims and SafariStand together.

  • "Unable to connect to the database" when connected to corporate network

    Hi
Installed Primavera P6 V7 and Oracle 10g in Stand alone on XP 32bit machines with SP3. When our machines are NOT connected to the corporate network it works fine.
However when connected to the network we can not access the locally stored database. We get message "primavera unable to connect to the database. would you like to configure the database connection now"
Database on servers that we set up are fine regardless.
If we connect machines to just the internet, again no issues.
So something is stopping Primavera opening local database when connect on our corporate network.
    Any ideas please?
    Thanks

This may be a long shot but look into how your TNSNAMES.ora file is being distributed on the domain (or are you possibly utilizing LDAP.ora on the domain side?).
Some time ago I remember a company scripting an ENV variable on domain logon that altered where the Oracle client would pull the TNSNAMES from.

  • DirectAccess client enables IPHTTPS interface when inside corporate network at remote sites

We have 4 offices connected via an MPLS network. I've installed the DA server in the main office. We're using a PKI for NLS and IPsec certs and a self-signed cert for IPHTTPS. For the most part everything works great. When a DA client is in the main office
all DA settings are disabled and the client acts as it should. When on the internet the IPHTTPs tunnel is established and remote access works.
My problem is when the same DA client connects at one of the remote offices. When at a remote office the IPHTTPS interface is active. The NRPT is not. No tunnel is actually established but I find Event 4012, NCSI event logs showing that the Inside/Outside probe
failed. This in and of itself would not be a big deal as the tunnel is never established however it does seem to cause Outlook to prompt for a password. I know this has something to do with our OWA site being resolvable inside the network, but I'm at a loss
as to why this only happens with the IPHTTPS interface is active with no tunnel established.
The NLS site appears to be working from the remote offices. I can ping NLS via DNS name and can open the https NLS website in a browser.
Anyone have any ideas as to why this would be happening?

  • Adobe Application Manager  - Corporate Network

When I open up the AAM, I can login and see the software which is available for download, but when I click on the software, it doesnt download and says installation failed.
This is due to my firewall appliance not letting the traffic out to the akamai distribution servers, doesnt anybody know what IP address range and port numbers are required for a rule to be set up on a corporate network???
    HELP !!!
    ta

That would be impossible due to Akamai using dynamic IP's all across the board. That is the whole point of AAM. I'm not aware of an easy method to circumvent this, but you could install the apps from the trials and then AAM would serve their activation. Otehr than that you may try and browse through the developer center/ deployment guides. Perhaps there'S some tech paper in there explaining a few tricks...

  • Strange "Quicktime not found" error - unless connected to corporate network

I'm attempting to get iTunes running on a new HP laptop from work running Win 7 64 bit. My user login was created by the corporate IT group as an Active Directory object. I was granted administrator rights on the PC. There is an additional "temp" user that also has admin rights.
I installed the 64 bit version of iTunes and I get the "Quicktime was not found." error every time I try to launch iTunes. That is except when I'm connected to the corporate network. I can connect and it works and disconnect and it throws the Quicktime error. I have connected and disconnected many times and this behavior is 100% reliable.
I have tried several complete uninstalls and reinstalls. I have tried both the Active Directory login and the local login and both accounts experience this behavior. I have performed repair installs on both iTunes and Quicktime. Quicktime runs perfectly whether connected to the corporate net or not.
I'm running out of options. I need this to work as I've gone rather long without updating my iPhone. All I can think of at this point is the fact that the PC shipped with a Win 7 Home license which was upgraded to a Win 7 Pro license. Maybe there is some permission problem or even a group policy issue?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

Many of us on my corporate network are having this problem too. (We are all running 9.1.1.12)
I am the IT guy for about 1000 users, and most of the users with cells have iphones. Our biggest problem right now is those users with iphones and laptops. We install iTunes so they can sync and all that.
As soon as they disconnect the network cable off the corporate network, and try to load itunes, they get the "Quicktime could not be found". I can reliably reproduce this.
    1. Plug into corporate network.
    2. Load itunes, works great.
    3. Close itunes.
    4. Disconnect your network cable.
    5. Load itunes, gives error.
This means, of course, that they can't use itunes at home, or on the road, with this one exception:
If they are connected to the vpn, it works great.
I have tried uninstalling itunes, and installing 9.0, but I had the same problem.
Add me to the list of people having the problem. I would love to get this resolved for my users.
Things that I have not tried yet, but would like to:
    - Install a version of itunes earlier than 9
    - Install itunes from home, and bring my laptop to work.
    Thanks guys!

  • How do I set up an Apple TV with a corporate network?

    Hi all,
I am aware that there are a lot of resources around that explain how to create a Configuration Profile for connecting an Apple TV to a corporate wireless network, and I think I understand them. But the issue I am struggling with is how to get the Apple TV initially configured - it seems to need to be connected to a wireless network in order to perform its initial configuration, but the initial configuration determines how it will connect to the wireless network.
    Am I missing something here?
    Regards
    Julian

Hi diesel vdub. Unfortunately this does not work here.  The symproms are the AppleTV gets into a state at startup where the 'setting time' never comes back, and prompts me to check network settings. When I check network settings and press 'test network', it tells me that it cannot do this because time has not been set.
A bit of a Catch-22 I think. This does not happen in my home environment, so seems to point to a corporate network issue, which I expect to resolve through using a Configuration Profile, but I am struggling to get the device ready for this.

  • Is it possible to restrict access to individual SharePoint Online sites (or site collections) to users only connecting when on the corporate network?

    Hi,
We have an Office 365 environment which is linked to our on premise ADFS environment. We have started to make some deployments of sites to our SharePoint Online environment. For the majority of sites this is great and the ability to access the sites
from anywhere is a real bonus. However, there are some sites and data that I would be much more comfortable in migrating to SharePoint Online if there were a way to make them only accessible via users/computers connected to the corporate network.
I have seen articles in how you can configure ADFS to allow all connections to the Office 365 tenant only from the network or not but what I am after is something which can be configured on a site by site basis (i.e. not the whole Office 365 environment
or SharePoint Online environment) to only allow access when connecting from the corporate network.
Any advice/help would be much appreciated?
    Many thanks
    Paul

  • Can I install itunes on a network drive?

Can I install itunes on a network drive? How?

Your virtual drive still needs a physical drive to live on. You can move your iTunes library to any drive big enough to hold it, e.g. an additional internal drive, an external drive, a network share, it's up to you. What you can't do is put a quart into a pint pot.

  • I'm trying to download ML, and get the product distribution file error. I have repaired the permissions in Disk Utility, I don't seem to have a applestore cache. I am on a corporate network, so am thinking it might be firewall related. Ideas?

    Hello folks
I've tried every option I can to self support, from disk repair to deleting caches (I don't usually use the appstore so don't have one), and I don't have a pckge file either.
I'm on a corporate network that restricts access to iTunes, so suspect it may be related to a firewall issue, although it has been relaxed to let me access the app store.
Any other ideas of what to check myself before I go to tech support, and what do I need to get them to do. They are not really a mac supporting unit, so I need specific instructions.
I'm on a mac pro, upgrading from Snow Leopard, so download is my only option.
    Thanks

    Back up all data.
Quit the App Store application if it’s running.
    Step 1
Hold down the option key and select
    Go ▹ Library
from the Finder menu bar. Delete the following items from the Library folder (some may not exist):
    Caches/com.apple.appstore
Leave the Library folder open. Try the App Store again. If it works now, stop here. Close the Library folder.
    Step 2
If you still have problems, quit again. Go back to the Finder and move the following item from the open Library folder to the Desktop:
    Cookies/com.apple.appstore.plist
    Preferences/com.apple.appstore.plist
Test. If the App Store now works, delete the files you moved to the Desktop. Otherwise, quit again. Put back the files you moved, overwriting the newer ones that may have been created in their place, and continue.
    Step 3
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below to select it:
    test -d $TMPDIR../C/com.apple.appstore && rm -r $_
Drag or copy and paste the selected line — do not type it — into the Terminal window. You should get a new line ending in a dollar sign ("$"). Quit Terminal.

My AppleTV does't always show up when I login to the corporate network.  I have setup a valid profile using Apple Configurator to push my credentials to the AppleTV so that it connects to the campus wireless.  The Apple TV is on but doesn't always show in my list of available devices.  If I reboot the laptop it usually reappears.  I am running OS 10.8.4 on an older Mac Book.
