Install and set-up of a wireless printer DJ2540

I am trying to start-up my DJ2540 to a MacBook Air with no slot for a CD. So far I have connected the main cable to the same outlet strip I use for the laptop, connected the printer to my laptop, checked that the power is on, but there is no light on the printer and I am unable install the print cartridges.

Plug it in and restore it.  When prompted, install your backup.

  • Adobe PDF installed and set as default printer causes incorrect pagination in Excel

I have come across an interesting bug. When Adobe PDF is installed and set as the default printer, Excel produces incorrect and inconsistent pagination--in my case one of the sheets is printed to two pages wide rather than three it should be (when Adobe PDF is not installed), resulting in 9 printed pages instead of 11. I have created a test case to reproduce it.
The sample file is located here: goo.gl/ZBiWj
The test case is here: goo.gl/6KbrO
Instructions are given on how to reproduce the error. The same error occurs when printing the sample file to Adobe PDF as a printer. Any ideas on how to resolve this?

Actually, the problem isn't really Acrobat or the Adobe PDF PostScript printer driver instance at all. The problem is that Microsoft Excel as well as other Microsoft Office applications adjust their printed output based on the characteristics of whatever is chosen as the current printer. This has been an issue since the earliest days of Windows.
Each printer driver instance contains information about the specific printer including but not limited to page size, duplex capability, paper types, page orientation, output trays, imageable area (i.e., page size less unprintable margin areas), and device resolution. Based upon what Excel finds as values for a number of these characteristics, Excel will format the page differently. Excel is particularly sensitive to not only page size, but also imageable area and device resolution. Imageable area is important because Excel is attempting to avoid printing at all on parts of the page that your printer cannot possibly image; this is typically about one quarter inch around for most laser printers, a bit less for inkjet printers unless you have a printer that claims edge-to-edge print capability.
The Adobe PDF PostScript printer driver instance has imageable areas that exactly match page size for all available page sizes. Thus, Excel formats on the basis that it can print all the way to edge of the page unless you set margins otherwise. It also defaults to 1200dpi. Change the device resolution to another setting via printer properties and you will likely see relayout. These same issues occur with Word and to some degree with PowerPoint.
There is absolutely nothing that Adobe can do about this. The same problem is exhibited if you have access to multiple different printer models with different characteristics on your computer and you change from one to another, even if you don't have any Adobe software loaded on your system. Users have complained to Microsoft for years about this issue, but they typically have not considered this an important issue to tackle (ribbon user interfaces are obviously much more important).
Sorry, but not anything we can really do to help you here other than to advise you to always compose your Microsoft documents with the current printer being the Adobe PDF PostScript printer driver instance, create a PDF file, and then print that from Reader/Acrobat to your real target printer. Alternatively, if you are very careful to setup the print characteristics of a spreadsheet to have large enough margins and headers/footers outside what would be the target devices non-printing area, you might get a bit better device independence - but don't count on it.

  • I have a HP Pavilion dv 2000 laptop and an HP Photosmart C7280 wireless printer.

I have an HP Pavilllion dv2000 laptop and an HP Photosmart C7280 wireless printer. They have worked well together until I reformatted and added Windows 7 on the laptop. I went online and downloaded the Windows 7 Printer Wizard. It recognizes my printer and says it has been installed. I have followed their directions and plugged USB cable into printer from laptop.  It prints that way. How can I get this to print wirelessly?

If you setup an "archtype" for each type of computer, PPC, Intel mainly, I think that will be enough. The amount of RAM is unimportant but must be enough to meet the specs in order to run Leopard.
The only other items might be the graphics cards, but if you get 90% of the computers running using a few archtypes, then you can do the others manually.

  • Attempted to set up an HP wireless printer and my whole network is now a mess.  HP help told me I had too many signals, as I have a Time Capsule 4 Macs and 4 Airport Express set up.  Anyone else figure this out?

I attempted to set up a new HP wireless printer.  It is unstable and HP support says I have too many devices since I have a time capsule and 4 airport express either extending my network or being used for a different printer or stereos.  Anyone else find that their Airport Express/Extreme interferes with a wireless printer. If so, what's the point?

I have a similar model, the  HP 8500A here in the home office that I originally hooked up using wireless on an AirPort system consisting of an AirPort Extreme, Time Capsule and 2 AirPort Express devices.
The HP was originally hooked up to the "main" router using wireless as a test to see how wireless would perform. No issues with setup or performance over the first few weeks. I did eventually change the device to connect using Ethernet once I had room to move the device near the AirPort Extreme.
HP is pulling your leg with the advice about too many devices. The AirPort Extreme and Time Capsule will handle up to 50 wireless devices. In my case, I did nothing except follow the setup procedure and restart the entire network....something that I always do when I make any change to the network.

  • Help setting up router for wireless printer

I recently purchased a wireless printer - but haven't been able to connect to the router. Router is a Linksys wireless G 2.4ghz w/ SecureEasySetup (SES).  When I activate the SES button on the router - it will connect with the printer - but the router then re sets itself, my SSID changes to the Linksys default and I loose internet connection.
How can I use SES without the router resetting?

I assume that your wireless printer does not have SES.
When you use SES, the router resets the wireless settings.  SES is designed to be used when both devices (router and wireless adapter) both have the SES feature.  If only one device has the SES feature, then you cannot use the SES button, and the non-SES device must be setup manually.
Login to your router at 192.168.1.1, and write down the following settings on a piece of paper:
    SSID
    encryption type   (probably WPA)
encryption key  (sometimes called Password or Passphrase)
Next, follow the installation procedure for your wireless printer.  At some point in the install procedure, it will ask you for the above info.
If you need more help, please state the model and version of your router.  Also, please state the make and model of your printer.

  • Windows 7 64 bit, CP1525NW wireless install, laptop sleep mode, now no wireless printing

I installed my HP CP1525 wireless printer  through  my Windows 7 64 bit computer to run wirelessly on my home network and it seemed to print fine wirelessly for mine and my wife's laptops and my iPad2. I put my computer into sleep mode and now today the wireless printer connection through my computer to the printer cant be found

Yup, with printer sharing, the PC cannot be asleep if the printer is attached to the PC via USB.
Since this is a network (wireless) printer, why not attach the printer to your wireles network direclty?  Am I understanding the setup correctly?

  • Unable to set static IP to wireless printer Officejet 6600

First sorry my poor english, still keep trying  We do have an HP Officjet 6600 Printer for about 6 months. This printer has USB and WLAN, but no LAN port. We used the printer until 2 weeks ago. At that time, **bleep** starts ...As long as we used the printer, he was connected via Automated WLAN (DHCP) and everything worked fine. The printer was connected to our WLAN Modem which assigned the DHCP IP Adress automatically. Then, our Internet provider updated our cable modem, which is also our WLAN router, and since that time, the printer does not work anymore. He always shows an error after booting, and told us to restart the printer, and all lamps of the printer are continously blinking. There is no way to access the printer menus on the printer. After a long and intensiv internet research, i found out that the cable modem is responsible for the printer error! It looks like the WLAN DHCP Server of the cable modem sends DHCP messages, which the printer cannot use correctly. If I shut down the modem (with the integrated WLAN router), the printer boots normal without an error, but I cannot use him becaused he is not connected to WLAN as because the modem is offline. So I wanted to set the printer to not use DHCP by assigning static IP to the printer. But this does not work! I tried 10 times or more to assign static IP, Subnet, Gateway and DNS-Server, no way, the printer always show "IP not set" (same for the others). Can anybody tell me why I'm not able to set static IP, Gateway etc. to the printer?!Thanks for every suggestion.

Hi , Thanks for reaching out to the HP Forums. I understand you are having some difficulty modifying your network settings. Since you now have a new cable modem, let's start with a more basic approach. Please use the following document for instruction to reset the printer to your new network settings: Connecting the Printer After Changing Your Wireless Network.  You may notice, when you open the link, that the full title mentions the Photosmart B209a, the instructions presented apply to your printer to so please don't be alarmed. I hope this helps.

  • How to install and set up SAP BW 7.0

I have already worked against SAP BW 3.5/3.1 server with SAP DPA for a while. Now I would like install and setup the BW server by myself. How could I get the installation for BW 7.0? Is it part of NetWeaver 2004s? What is the general steps to install BW 7?
    Thanks

    Hi Zhang,
Yes. It is part of NW2004s. So when you install NW2004s you can select the BI Component. Make sure you select both the BI ABAP and Java stack. Also remember to install the BI content after this. The BI 7.0 has a separate frontend so install that too. Make sure all the frontend and backend are on the same patch level.
You can find all the set-ups and patches at http://service.sap.com/swdc.

  • After update plugins are re-installed and setting are lost

Hi, after last 2 updated I experienced same problem.
I have changed some setting (like ask to save tabs before exit etc...) and after update all settings are reverted to original ones + all addons (and addon settings) are also lost. Actually I think that ALL ADDONS were actually re-installed and hence I got default settings with every addon so last 2 updates I had to optimize each and every plugin.... annoying....
Will this be the case with every future update ? If so, what can I do to save my settings and addons

    Hi,
    Please see [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Preferences%20are%20not%20saved this].
If you have security software (antivirus, firewall etc.) installed, you can try deleting all existing instances of Firefox and its related processes/files in all the different configuration modules/areas of the security software like process monitoring, sub/spawned process control, virtualization, HIPS etc., in addition to the security software's main configuration panel. Instead create new fully allowed/trusted rules for Firefox + its related processes in all the different modules/panels - a genuine/original Firefox installer as well as all the installed EXEs (Application) and DLLs (Application extension) are digitally signed by Mozilla Corporation (right-click > Properties > Digital Signatures). Even otherwise, some security software may also ask again when Firefox and/or its sub processes are started, and you may be able to allow/trust at that time. Please see [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Firewalls this].

The official forums of all the installed security software would also be helpful.

  • How to silently install and set default settings

I need to deploy FireFox 16.0.2 to a bunch of Windows computers and set some default settings. Is there a good article that can walk me through it?
I also need to set the home page, have it not check for the default browser, and disable updates. The -ms option does silently install FireFox so I guess I just need to know how to configure FireFox for our environment and push out those settings with the install.
I have versions ranging from 1 to 15. Do those old versions need to be removed first or can 16.0.2 be installed over what is already there? Is there an uninstall switch for this so that I can create a package to remove it?

hello jmoody76 - you can manage central settings with the mozilla.cfg file in the firefox program folder. this article gives some guidance on how to implement that: [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Locking_preferences]
i think it may work to just install the new versions on top of the older ones (though i'm not sure if this has any unintended side effects on those very old installations) or according to https://wiki.mozilla.org/Installer:Command_Line_Arguments it's possible to run a silent uninstall through the setup executable by /S.

  • SAP Easy Document Management installing and setting

    Hi,
We are in the middle of installing the content server for DMS. Also I'd like to install SAP Easy Document Managemnt, so that my end users can access the files easily. I have a hard time finding documentation on the installation of EDMS and step by step detail of what to do.
From reading some of the notes, I think I have to
    1. Download the EDMS software to my PC (will also have to install on each user's computer).
    2. Also it said you have to make the settings in Customizing for DMS has to be done (but doesn't say what settings ????)
    Questions,
    1. Can anyone tell me where I can get the detail information about how to install and
    2. Do you have any documentations on what to do with the settings in Customizing for DMS so that I can use the EDMS?
    3. How do I handle the diff SAP Environments with this EDMS ?
    Thank you,
    Sam

    Hi Samantha
I don't think there is much in the line of documentation on this. Unfortunately, for most of the DMS consultants, its been a learn through trial and error process, but if you are fairly competent technically, a lot of it is not too difficult.
    1. Not much information unfortunately.
    2. You will need to create an FOL document type if it doesn't exist already. ECC6 came standard with the correct EasyDMS configuration but earlier versions of SAP were not setup correctly. There are also additional authorisation applicable to easydms. If you are not sure what they are you can do an auth trace when creating a document in easydms and it should give you them, but they are RFC auth's and hierarchy creation auths.
    3. Difficult to say without knowing the environments. There are some limitations with EasyDMS that may affect the DMS design, for example, you can't insert enhancements on classification because they don't appear. (or link to check tables).

    Athol
