Install on mdadm-raid1 / cryptsetup home - GRUB-Problems

I try to install arch-linux on some lvl1-raids done with mdadm and a home-partition encrypted with cryptsetup.
I dont want an lvm, just some lvl1 raids.
I've added encrypt and mdadm_udev to the kernel-image.
I've got two harddisks in my laptop, one is filled with fedora-stuff which I want to copy to the new system. So I created the raids with /dev/sdbX and missing.
/dev/md0 - /dev/sdb1 & missing is swap
/dev/md1 - /dev/sdb2 & missing is root (ext4)
/dev/md2 - /dev/sdb3 & missing is /boot (ext4)
/dev/md3 - /dev/sdb4 & missing is /dev/mapper/home (luks) is /home (ext4)
I tried to install grub as boot-manager, grub-mkconfig fail:

I didn't touched /etc/default/grub nor any file of /etc/grub.d/*. Just added my home-partition to /etc/crypttab and my raids to /etc/mdadm.conf ... else I let genfstab generate my /etc/fstab.

Thanks for your hint, the line with "out of memory" and following are gone now.
The "grub-install --target=i386-pc --recheck /dev/sdb" outputs the following:
grub-install: warning: Couldn't find physical volume '(null)'. Some modules may be missing from core image...

I have just installed Bell Fibe into my home . when it works it is wonderfully fast. That is the problem , it does not connect all the time ...it freezes . I have multiple apple products and they seem to work fine. I was wondering if the fact that my current mac pro is 3 years old makes this incompatible with new technology of FIBE.
It is quite fustrating since Bell does not know why it does not work ...their router seems to be fine. Their seems to be somekind of software conflict .

HT1688 iPhone 4 home button problem

I have an iPhone 4 and it still in good condition but sometimes, the Home button doesn't respond quickly or doesn't respond at all. What to do?

I seem to have fixed my iPhone 4 home button problems.
1. Sync phone and back up.
2. Go back and resync phone but uncheck all the apps you have purchased/downloaded so that your iphone will have no additional apps on it.
3. Now reset your phone as a NEW PHONE.
4. When reset as NEW, unplug it and try home button functions. I'll bet they work just fine, like mine did.
5. Now that you are satisfied you can resync your apps, but be choosey. Re-install only a couple at a time, and test your home button each time. You'll soon find out which of your apps is causing the problem. It's time consuming and irritating, but it certainly works.
So far - no problems with my selected re-installed apps. My home button works fine.
However, I recently purchased several photography apps and an emoticon app and that was when the problems appeared to have started.
So I've been very selective in putting only the apps I want back on ... for now.
Hope this helps.
I will report back to tell you if this complicated but effective solution has worked for me.

Screen problem ~ I have two macs, a 17" and a 13". When I went to Sno-Lep from Mt-lion there was no option in displays options to select the one I had.
I haven't changed my 13" over because of trouble the changeover caused.
On the other problem, if I hit the house shaped option on the opening page of many small web-site pictures, it stayed the same, if I got off the multi-pages and then hit that same house-shaped option, I got the home page that I selected. After what you told me what I should do, it's ok. These things really bother me, I'm old 71.

IPhone Home Sharing problems

Here is my home sharing problem. I have 3 devices, a MacBook Air, a PC running Windows 7, and an iPhone 4. All software is up to date. ITunes is installed on both computers, and the exact same Apple ID and password have been entered for home sharing on all devices. The iPhone's music library will NOT show up in any of the Home Sharing folders in the other computers. However, the Mac and PC libraries DO show up in the iPhone, so the password is correctly entered. All computers have been activated and reactivated, restarted, iTunes reinstalled, my router has been reset, firmware up to date. Music from the other computers can be played through Home Sharing on the iPhone, but the iPhone library will not show up in the other computers.

Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first. Networks that have inherent issues can be seen to work differently with different versions of the same software. You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment.

GRUB Problems - Grub does not give me a menu, just a command line.

Installed arch a few days ago, left partitions spare for windows to be installed later. Here's the configuration I'm using:
/dev/sda1 = /boot
/dev/sda2 = /
/dev/sda3 = Windows (unformatted at the time)
/dev/sda5 = Swap
/dev/sda6 = FAT32/NTFS (unformatted at the time)
This all worked fine, until I...
...installed Windows XP. Windows decides GRUB isn't good enough, and seems to have overwritten it, so...
...I used the arch install CD to boot back into my arch system and ran:
grub-install /dev/sda
This ran for a while and told me GRUB was installed. I then put the following into my "/boot/grub/menu.lst" file:
# (0) Arch Linux
title Linux
root (hd0,0)
kernel /vmlinuz26 root=/dev/sda2 ro
initrd /kernel26.img
# (1) Windows
title Windows
rootnoverify (hd0,2)
makeactive
chainloader +1
This has kind of worked. When I boot, I now get a grub>_ command shell.
If I run:
grub> root(hd0,0)
grub> configfile /grub/menu.lst
I get the grub menu, as configured - and can load into either windows or linux.
Any idea why GRUB is not reading this on boot?

Hi All,
Solved the problem. Rebooted and ran the following commands:
grub> root (hd0,0)
grub> setup(hd0)
On reboot, the menu came up.

Mobile home syncing problem

Hi all,
I have a mobile home syncing problem. When the sync runs it returns the following error:
Unknown error: -[SStore myNodeForNode:isDestNode:]: Unable to find node for "Pictures/iPhoto Library/Data/2008/6-Aug-08/DSC00042.jpg" in store "HomeSyncMirrorPeer-DfrxJp1ET07-zivj" Please try again later. If this problem persists, contact your network administrator.
This file does not exist both on the server and on my mobile laptop.
Any ideas how to solve this?

I've done the deletion of those folders a number of times, with no luck.
The most recent attempt to get this to work was:
1. Delete ~/.FileSync and ~/Library/FileSync from the server machine.
2. With a brand-new install of OS X on a laptop, create a local administrator, join the server, then login as the user account that wants a mobile account
3. Look at logs
I still get an exception on the server

I'm quite frustrated with the whole situation at this point. I'm sure some folks have gotten it to work, but since it has exceptions like this silently, it slowly corrupts the data in an account. I still want to get it to work, but am skeptical that it will.

is this an install with a single Oracle home or is it an MCOD install.
If this is an MCOD install then.......
During an MCOD or Add-In installation with Oracle Multiple Homes you get the following error: CJS-00030 Assertion failed: OraSqlContext constructor:
arguments dbSidOrSrcObject and dbHome are not valid.
To solve the problem, change the following lines in the control.xml file :
Old: (tORA_DbHome.name WHERE 1 = 1),
target (tGlobalDbParameters.dbHomeName ...
New: (tORA_DbHome.path WHERE 1 = 1),
target (tGlobalDbParameters.dbHome ...
Note that these lines appear twice in control.xml.

Home sharing problem: I have never set up home sharing but I feel I the concept and how it works. I recently (last 2 months or so) deauthorized, first time ever, all computers with my iTunes account. I have 3 computers authorized. I am trying to set up home sharing but get iTunes says:
"Home Sharing could not be activated because this computer is not authorized for the Apple Id "#########@###.com". Would you like to authorize now?" I click "authorize" and get the next error " You cannont authorize more than 5 computers. You have already authorized 5 computers with this Apple ID. To authorize this computer you must first deauthorize one of the other computers."
Can someone help or shed more light on my problem?

Home Sharing is designed to work on your local network not across the internet/cloud.
Stuff is accessed under the Computers column where your local iTunes library on a local computer would appear.
Home Sharing would share your iTunes content (i.e. stuff stored in itunes on the computer, not in the cloud) with AppleTV or an iPad etc on the SAME network.
AppleTV2 will not be able to see itunes content on the work computer over the internet. It's not designed to. if the work computer was on the home network it would.
iCloud is in it's infancy and is not a mature product - iTunes TV Show purchases appear on AppleTV, but currently music does not unless you are subscribed to iTunes Match. I find this rather odd to be honest, along with the inability to buy music on AppleTV2. Movies purchased in iTunes are not authorised for iCloud viewing currently either.
Maybe it has something to do with iTunes Match 'getting in the way' - i think they assume you'll use that whereas you really want to be able to access Purchased music from the cloud without subscribing to itunes Match which is overkill for some.

I purchased 40 licenses of Office 2013 Pro from a vendor in the US and received 40 product keys along with the URL to download the software - 1 for each pc activation codes. I have done a few and were all successful. I am now trying
install on 2 other pcs and I am having real difficulty and getting error message each time I try to install. I am able to download the installer and copied to my desktop and when I double click to execute it, it gives me the option to run on the next
screen. I click on run then it gives me the message " do you want to allow the program to make changes to this computer". When I press YES, nothing happens and minutes later, I get the flwg message everytime, "Couldn't
install" "We're sorry, we had a problem installing your office programs. Is your internet connection working? Do you have enough free space on your main hard drive? Please try installing again after you've checked the above.

I have lots of space and my pc is Win 7 64 bit new machine. I have connection to internet and I was able to get the others done. What is the problem here and I have been trying to work late night hours to try to install the program and I am unable

First, please check the suggestion above is helpful. I also suggest you removing all version of Office and re-install Office 2013.
We can try to run the application as an administrator and check if it works.
1. Right click the shortcut of the application or the main application.
2. Select properties.
3. Select compatibility tab and select "Run this program as an administrator."

Generally, when you install Lync 2013 in the computer with Office 2010, a Lync Meeting Add-in will be installed and enabled in Outlook 2010. Please follow these steps to check it:
1. In Outlook, click the File tab, click Options, and then click
Add-Ins.
2. Please take one of the following actions:
If the add-in is in the Inactive Application Add-ins list, follow these steps:
a. In the Manage drop-down list at the bottom of the dialog box, click
COM Add-ins, and then click Go.
b. Click to select the check box next to the add-in, and then click OK.
The New Online Meeting button should now be available in
Calendar View, and the Online Meeting button should be available when you create a new calendar item.
If the add-in is in the Disabled Application add-ins list, follow these steps:
a. In the Manage drop-down list at the bottom of the dialog box, click
Disabled Items, and then click Go.
b. Select the add-in, and then click Enable.
c. Restart Outlook, and then verify that the add-in is displayed in the

HP Photosmart Plus 209a-m install for Windows 8 not working, driver problem?

I am trying to install the driver/software for HP Photosmart Plus 209a-m on my Windows 8 laptop and keep getting "the Wizard has detected a problem with the driver software for the selected printer". Seems like a catch-22 because that's why i'm trying to install it. I have a brand new hard drive (as of today) with nothing else on it except Norton, which i just installed. I shouldn't have corrupted drivers yet. if it's missing, why can't HP get it installed? I've downloaded hppiw and trying to install that. after i get the "problem with the driver" message, i select the option to install the full suite + driver, and it attempts another download (why is it doing that when i already downloaded the software?), then fails with "Your download was cancelled. You can attempt the download again by clicking Retry". Anybody know how to get me out of this loop and get the software installed?

sometimes norton does block the installation or the drivers download...
i would suggest you to turn of norton and complete the installation and then turn it back on..
