    Moderator Action:
Thread moved from the Oracle Linux discussion space,
    To an EBS discussion space,
    for closer topic alignment.
You state you are attempting to use RHEL 5.
That's not an Oracle product; it's a RedHat product.  Thus the OL forum space here at OTN was not appropriate.
Your post suggests your actual issue is an EBS installation attempt.
Thus you should post to an EBS forum space.

  • Need a help in installing oracle 9.2 on RHEL5

I have installed RHEL5 on my comp and want to install ORACLE 9i on it.
It would be helpful if anybody guide me with complete procedure like kernel param setting, user creation,etc...
    Thank you

IMO, both platforms perform well, it is not only the OS what you should consider, but also the hardware and the application layer. If you are planning to install 9.2.0 on a production environment, although it has been installed on RHEL5, you must be aware this is not supported for production environments, just for personal testing.
I suggest you to use RHEL4 if you are planning to deploy this to production.

  • Can't install FMS dev, on RHEL5?

Getting an error when running the installFMS script:
ERROR: Your distribution, unknown, is not supported by this
    Adobe Flash Media Server installer.
It's not clear to me whether it means the FMS distribution,
or the OS distribution. Anyone installing on RHEL5?

That's the FMS installer complaning that it doesn't like the
operating system. Try installing with -plaformWarnOnly and see if
    that works for you.

  • 11g R2 설치후 외부에서 SQLPLUS 등 접속이 안되는 현상 (11g r2 install and client conn fail)

OS - WINDOWS VISTA 32BIT
    간단한게
    1. oracle install r2 ( RHEL5 update 5 64bit ) install success
    2. client connection ( vista 32bit ) fail -> fail message ora-12514 (but same pc,os r1 install,connection success)

    죄송합니다 . - 제가 설치하면서 서비스명을 확인못했습니다. ;;;;; 서비스명 수정후 잘되네요;;;;

  • Installing AS1013? on 11g

I have just finished a 11g install on RHEL5. Everything looks good. I now want to add AS to the install, so from Oracle e-Delivery I downloaded the 5 packages for AS1013.(Part# B34626_01_nof5.zip)
However, the oui runInstaller cmd that comes with the downlaod mandates RHEL 4, and doesn't accept my RHEL5. If I use the runInstaller from my DB home, it tells me the components from AS/soa/products.xml are pre AS10.2 and refuses to install them, until updated.
What do I need to do?
I did see on the AS downlaod page, there are 3 new companion CD's available, what is on these, and will they help?

Thnkyou for the bypass....it worked, but now I have another problem...
    I have used >df -k /tmp and got a result of 300G,

I did a fresh install on RHEL5 and configure a domain. i was able to start the services from script which are created when creating a domain.
But when i assigned a Managed Server to a Node Manager and try starting the Managed server. It does not start and in the log i can see exceptions like below
Failed to invoke startup class "JPS Startup Class", java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: oracle.security.jps.wls.JpsWlsStartupClass
    java.lang.ClassNotFoundException
Failed to invoke startup class "ODL-Startup", java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: oracle.core.ojdl.weblogic.ODLConfiguration
    java.lang.ClassNotFoundException
I start the services in below order
    Weblogic Server

  • ERROR at DAC Execution Step

    Hello all,
I am running HR-R11.5.10 - FLexfield Execution Plan. When I run this execution plan, I get this error
    Connected to Integration Service: [EDW_INT].
    Starting workflow [SDE_ORA_Flx_EBSSegDataTmpLoad]
ERROR: Workflow [SDE_ORA11510_Adaptor:SDE_ORA_Flx_EBSSegDataTmpLoad[version 1]]: Parameter file [C:\Informatica\PowerCenter8.6.1\server\infa_shared\SrcFiles/ORA_11_5_10.DataWarehouse.SDE_ORA11510_Adaptor.SDE_ORA_Flx_EBSSegDataTmpLoad.txt] not found.  Please check the Integration Service log for more information.
    Disconnecting from Integration ServiceNote:
    1. I use 64 bit Oracle database but I use 32 bit client
    2. my LD_LIBRARY_PATH is properly set to clients library
    3. My Informatica Services and Dac services are installed in RHEL5 64 bit but clients in Windows 2003.
    4. The admin console points to LkpFiles and SrcFiles available in RHEL machine (where all servers are present)
if you notice above, the error points to my Windows machine.... What could be the reason for this? Thank you very much in advance

I got the solution to this problem.
We have to make sure that DAC Console at Client is properly pointing to Parameter Files
i.e. go to DAC Console > Setup > Dac system properties > "InformaticaParameterFileLocation"
the it should be pointing to /Informatica/server/infa_shared/SrcFiles
Do not forget the restart the DAC server.

  • CE 7.2 Installtion media files

    Dear Experts,
I am installing CE 7.2 while installing it is asking JAVA EXPORT (VOL.01).Which media file I need to select.
I downloaded  51038266 CD, in this inside DATA-UNITS there are CE_JAVA_EXPORT,CE_JAVA_EXPORT_JDMP, CE_JAVA_EXPORT_JDMP_BPM. In this which I need to select.
I am installing in RHEL5 64-bit Linux OS.
                     It is urgent.Thanks in advance..........,
    Regards,
    Sampath.

    Hi Sampath,
Select the 'Data Units' folder and click on OK, not the individual folders underneath. The installer looks for a file called 'label.asc' (doing this from memory).

  • Oracle 10g IO perfomance on vmware virtual machine

    Hi Friends,
I am facing perfomance issue on oracle10g 64bit, installed on rhel5.3 64bit on a vmware virtual machine because of disk IO.
While taking DB backup using netbackup I can see the datatransfer speed comes up to 100 Mbps.
But when oracle IO requests comes it is not going more than 30 Mbps.
And the CPU IO wait remains same as on both of the time. (20% to 40%)
    Please help.
    Regards,
    Nayagan

Could you verify this behaviour outside a VMware virtual machine?
If yes, then please open an SR on Metalink to let support diagnose.
Provide an RDA, AWR snapshot if you have licensed the Diagnistic Pack - if not than provide STATSPACK snapshots.
Sorry - but this is a database upgrade forum :-)

  • Disk partitions for ASM

A client of mine is installing ASM and I have concerns about their proposed configuration. I'd like to run it past this forum to see if my concerns are justified.
This is a non-RAC 11g install on RHEL5. We have 32 disks (2 vtracks X 16) of 144GB each. This storage will be used for 2 DEV databases running on the same machine. They want two diskgroups per database-- one for the Flash Recovery Area, and another one for everything else.
The client's SA wants to spread the IO out across all the disks, so he has made 4 partitions on each of the 32 disks: one partition for each diskgroup. So the final allocation of disks is going to look something like this:
    create diskgroup DEV1_DATA
      normal redundancy
      failgroup vtrak1_1
      disk
        'ORCL:DISK01_P1'
        'ORCL:DISK16_P1'
      failgroup vtrak2_1
      disk
        'ORCL:DISK17_P1'
        'ORCL:DISK32_P1'
    create diskgroup DEV2_DATA
      normal redundancy
      failgroup vtrak1_2
      disk
        'ORCL:DISK01_P2'
        'ORCL:DISK16_P2'
      failgroup vtrak2_2
      disk
        'ORCL:DISK17_P2'
        'ORCL:DISK32_P2'
    create diskgroup DEV1_FRA
      normal redundancy
      failgroup vtrak1_3
      disk
        'ORCL:DISK01_P3'
        'ORCL:DISK16_P3'
      failgroup vtrak2_3
      disk
        'ORCL:DISK17_P3'
        'ORCL:DISK32_P3'
    create diskgroup DEV2_FRA
      normal redundancy
      failgroup vtrak1_4
      disk
        'ORCL:DISK01_P4'
        'ORCL:DISK16_P4'
      failgroup vtrak2_4
      disk
        'ORCL:DISK17_P4'
        'ORCL:DISK32_P4'
    ;OK? So here's my problem:
This means that two separate databases will be sharing the same physical device and that this will result in IO contention. Am I not right? Or is ASM smart enough to deal with this?
The client says that the more disks we spread data across, the better the performance will be. But I am doubtful.
Trouble is, I have never set up ASM in this way; I have only added whole disks to diskgroups. Would anyone care to comment on this setup? Are my fears justified?
    Thanks.

    Hello,
This means that two separate databases will be sharing the same physical device and that this will result in IO contention. Am I not right? Or is ASM smart enough to deal with this?
ASM is smart enough to deal with 2 database or more, but my concern should be if ASM instance is down or crashes it will take both the database down.
The client says that the more disks we spread data across, the better the performance will be. But I am doubtful.
Always test,  and i tend to agree with the client but that doesn't mean it wil be the case all the time. So once again test.
Trouble is, I have never set up ASM in this way; I have only added whole disks to diskgroups. Would anyone care to comment on this setup? Are my fears justified?
I didn't quite get this question, can you elobrate more here.

  • Help tips for 4.6b installation on Fedora 8.

Is there any particular conditions to follow while performing installation of 4.6b on Fedora 8. i did not find any documents related to it...?

    Dear Tony,
Fedora 8 is not a supported plaform for SAP.
Additionally, when installing older SAP releases on newer distributions like SLES10 or RHEL5 it may happen that you either have to use the EXT/EX2 kernels from SAP or install compatibility libraries for the distribution.
    Best Regards,
      Hannes
PS: When installing on RHEL5 for example, follow SAP Note [1048303|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1048303]. General installation documentation is available at [https://service.sap.com/instguides|https://service.sap.com/instguides].
