Install PI 7.1 on iSeries

Hi ALL
I'm currently trying to install PI 710 on AS/400, but it seems TMKSVR is not supported in this new version. As mentioned in installation guide, is it mandatory to have a X window server for sapinstGUI? Is there an alternative for that, like remote installation -nogui?
Here's what I tried, Logon AS/400 host with *OFR user and goto installation master folder, run CALL PGM(QP2TERM) PARM(u2019./sapinst -noguiu2019) or ./sapinst -nogui in Qshell, after extracting there's an error showing as below:

Hi Efan,
The "New Features" section of the installation guide explains some of the changes for 710 base installations.
Running SAPinst
Without GUI:
The right command to start sapinst from the Command Line is as follows (each parameter in single quotes): CALL PGM(QP2TERM) PARM(u2019./sapinst' '-noguiu2019)
For a shell interface, you must use QP2TERM (call qp2term) instead of QSHELL.
That starts SAPinst in you iSeries machine. To run a GUI for it, you can follow the instructions in SAP Note 966719. Download 'SAPinstgui for Windows Server on IA32 32bit' (51033240_41)
and execute sapinstgui.exe on Windows.
With xWindows GUI
There is a tools for developers kit that allows you use VNC with iSeries: For more information, go to http://www-03.ibm.com/servers/enable/site/porting/tools/
Furthermore, tools like Hummingbird, cygwin and other open source xWindows servers can be used.
All that said, I see in your logs there is a problem with the user SAPINST
system CRTUSRPRF USRPRF(sapinst) GID(GEN) CPF2214: User profile SAPINST a
lready exists.*
In the installation guide explains that the formally used user SAPINST must be deleted in order for the new 710 SAPinst tool to create a group called SAPINST. This was done to align the iSeries installation with the other platforms ones. I recommend that when deleting user SAPINST, all owned objects should be transfer to other user instead of deleted. You can use QSECOFR to even better, create a new user SAPiUSR and then transfer SAPINST objects to it.This will avoid deleting objects that might be used in other installations and you can use the new user SAPiUSR for rest of the isntallations.

Luis Gonzalez

  • SAP Solution Manager Implementation on iSeries

    Hi All,
Is it possible to install SAP Solution Manager on iSeries with an existing SAP R/3 installed? If so, is it advisable to install SAP SOLMAN in an iSeries machine with SAP R/3 Production system? Can you also send me documents related to SOLMAN installation on iSeries? Thanks!

You will have to load the Unicode kernel and here is the link to OSS where you can get get the download of SOLMAN for AS/400
    https://websmp110.sap-ag.de/solutionmanager , then choose this one:   ZIP 51033506_7 NW 7.0 SR3 UC-Kernel 7.00 OS/400  Info  550479 24.04.2008 .
The install manuals are out there as well.

  • Java CAPS (JCAPS 5.1.3) & AS/ 400 with OS/400 V4R4

    Hi,
I wish to connect the data base (DB2) of a AS/400 with OS/400 4.4.0 through Java CAPS 5.1.3. How to do this (if it's possible)?
I downloaded (to prove) the DB2 Connect (Trial) and I installed it:
    DB2 Connect for iSeries
Extends iSeries data across platforms and to multiple sources including mobile without moving your data and provides simplified and modern application development environments.
Product overview: DB2 Connects provides robust, highly scalable communication infrastructure for connecting Web, Windows, UNIX (including Linux), OS/2 and mobile applications to S/390 and AS/400 data.
Operating system: All OS per ESD/PA Media Pks
    Version: 8.2
    We have a AS/400 with IBM OS/400 V4R4.
We bought the AS/400 in 1999.
Here I give you more details of which I wanted to do:
Title in the application window: Sun SeeBeyond Enterprise Designer - Connectivity Map Editor [CMap1]
Title of the window: New Wizard - DB2 Database
    Steps
    1. Select Wizard Type
    2. Connect to Database
    Specify Database Connection Information
Please enter the DB2 database connection information below.
Connection type: SunSeebeyond DB2 for AS/400 and z/OS
    Host name: 101.0.0.25 (Server's IP)
Port: 446 (I left the default port)
Location: data1 (Here I entered the name of the folder (library) that there is to accede where it is the file (table, catalogue in SQL))
PackageCollection: data1 (I repeated the value of 'Location', but, in fact, I do not know what to enter here. I never used before this parameter. Also I proved leaving empty (without data) this parameter)
    User Name: admin1
    Password: ***************************
    Message of error:
Unable to establish connection to jdbc:SeeBeyond:db2://101.0.0.25;locationName=data1;PackageCollection=data1
[SeeBeyond][DB2 JDBC Driver]Error establishing socket to host and port: 101.0.0.25:446. Reason: Connection refused: connect
I hope you can help me. Thanks.
    Ricardo.

That error message ("Connection refused") means that your iSeries has no server running that is listening at port 446. Maybe you need to start one of the TCP/IP servers there?
(By the way, Spanish "probar" translates to English "test" and not "prove".)

  • Best practice deployment - Solaris source and target

    Hi,
What is the recommended deployment guide for an ODI instance under Solaris. I have a sybase source and an Oracle target, both of which are on Solaris. I plan to put my ODI master and work repository on another Oracle DB on the solaris target machine. Now where does my agent sit, since my source and target are solaris ?? I plan to administer ODI from my windows clients but :-
Where and how do I configure my agent so that I can schedule scenarios. It would make most sense to be able to run the agent on my target solaris machine , is this possible ?? If not then do I have to have a separate windows server that is used to run the agent and schedule the jobs ??
    Thanks for any assistance,
    Brandon

thanks for the reply. I cant find anything in the installation guide about Solaris specifically but it mentions to follow the instructions for "Installing the Java Agent on iSeries and AS/400" where the download o/s is not supported.
So it seems I just need make some directories on the solaris host and to manually copy files into s these directories and as long as java sdk/runtime is there I can use the shell scripts (eg. agentshceduler.sh ) to start and stop the agent.
So my question I guess is since the os supported downloads are only windows and Linux, where do I copy the files from, the Linux ones ?? Is it right to say that since these are java programs I should be able to copy the Linux ones and use them under Solaris ??
I dont have the Solaris environment at hand to test this just yet.... hence the questions....
    thanks again

  • XI JDBC connector hangs

    Hi,
We have an interface where data is read from a DB2 database, and put into SAP.
    A JDBC --> XI scenario.
The JDBC communication channel worked well for some time, but last week it suddenly went wrong: It seems like it's connecting to the database, but it doesn't read the data. Also, it always takes double the poll time. (e.g. when poll time is set to 1 minute, it checks every 2 minutes).
There were no locks on the database, and our other JDBC connections kept working well.
This problem could be "solved" by restarting the Java stack.
Today, the same problem occurred, with a different communication channel, but to the same database.
Again, a restart solved the problem.
Does anyone know what could be causing this?
    br.
    Nicolas De Corte

    Hi,
We're currently running on SAP NetWeaver 2004s, SPS 16.
We're using the latest version of the drivers from the Iseries JDBC Toolbox (When you install a Java stack on iseries, the same drivers are used), so I don't think the problem is there.
The database has not gone down.
The other communication channels which are connected to other tables of the same database were also still running fine.
I was thinking that there might have been a network issue for a couple of seconds, but then normally the other comm. channels should be affected too. There were also no locks on the table...

    Dear all,
i m installing bw 3.1 on iseries v5r3m0. At the phase of database load, sapinst hangs at the message "CHKOBJ *LIBL STUBJOB_04 *PGM". When i checked in wrkactjob, under tmksvr i can see the users sapinst with job status TIMW. it hangs, neither it is giving any error nor it is progressing.
    Can you help me.
    Thanks

    Hi Imran,
I guess this is "solved" in the meantime.
... most likely with waiting quite a while - because such an error is well known if the SAPINST is not patched properly.

  • IBM 1552 Printer Driver

I am running ECC 6.0 on an IBM iSeries (V5R3). I have an IBM 1552 (4537) printer setup with the correct iSeries driver. This printer is also installed on a Windows print server. Through SAP, my users can select, "LOCL" and print to this printer just fine (using the Windows driver I assume) but when they select the Spool file created in SAP, "PH", all of their text is running outside of the correct area's on the page. This would be using the iSeries driver.
Through SPAD, the printer is setup to use device type: HPLJ4 :HP Laserjet 4 series PCL-5. The actual driver name in the iSeries I cannot find (since I am not the iSeries person) but it has been working fine through all other applications. Is this an IBM driver issue or a setup issue through SAP? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

Installed new driver in the iSeries.

  • BizTalk Administration Console problem after installing IBM iSeries Access

    Hi,
We have a Biztalk Server 2010 environment on Windows Server 2008 R2 with SQL server on separate machine.
After installing IBM iSeries Access we get errors in Biztalk Administration Console, especially the Host Instance and Adapter information cannot be loaded.
Except for the errors in Adminsitration Console, the Biztalk installation seems to be working fine, so the integration processes doesn't seem to be affected.
    We get the following error:
BizTalk Server cannot access SQL server.  This could be due to one of the following reasons:
    1. Access permissions have been denied to the current user.  Either log on as a user that has been granted permissions to SQL and try again, or grant the current user permission to access SQL Server.
    2. The SQL Server does not exist or an invalid database name has been specified.  Check the name entered for the SQL Server and database to make sure they are correct as provided during SQL Server installation.
    3. The SQL Server exists, but is not currently running.  Use the Windows Service Control Manager or SQL Enterprise Manager to start SQL Server, and try again.
    4. A SQL database file with the same name as the specified database already exists in the Microsoft SQL Server data folder.
Internal error from OLEDB provider: "The type initializer for 'System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection' threw an exception." (WinMgmt)

Hi and thanks for your help!
    The machine.config did it :)
According to this link there is a known issue with the IBM iSeries Access installation which removes the proper permissions from the machine.config and therefore Biztalk Administration Console stops working correctly.

  • OSPatterns.xml for iSeries / JSPM install

    Hi guys,
We have just installed SAP PI 7.1 on an iSeries 6.1 server, all is 100% fine except we cannot get the JSPM to start properly, the error is:
    The execution ended in error.
    Cannot initialize application data.
    *Could not detect operating system.*
*Cannot determine OS version from command uname.*
We are running JSPM version 7.10.4.0.2.4.9
We initially assumed this was because of a codepage error but now I am thinking it *may* be something wrong with the OSPatterns.xml file situated in JSPM/config/OSPatterns.xml
We are running a 64 bit Power Processor iSeries machine, can you please tell me if these setting look of to you guys?
Here are the required XML variables first:
    <ColumnName>os.name</ColumnName>
    <ColumnName>os.arch</ColumnName>
    <ColumnName>OS_TYPE</ColumnName>
    <ColumnName>OS_FAMILY</ColumnName>
    <ColumnName>OS_ARCH</ColumnName>
And here are the setting we have for iSeries:
    <!-- OS/400 with IBMJVM -->
       <StringArray>
         <StringValue>OS/400</StringValue>
         <StringValue> *PowerPC* </StringValue>
         <StringValue>OS400</StringValue>
         <StringValue>AS400</StringValue>
         <StringValue>64</StringValue>
       </StringArray>
       <!-- OS/400 with SAPJVM -->
       <StringArray>
         <StringValue>OS400</StringValue>
         <StringValue> PowerPC </StringValue>
         <StringValue>OS400</StringValue>
         <StringValue>AS400</StringValue>
         <StringValue>64</StringValue>
       </StringArray>
The PowerPC highlighted above used to be BLANK.....but do the above settings look ok to you?
    Thanks for the help
    Lynton

    Hi Lynthon,
Did you solve the JSPM start problem?
Did you first update the JSPM itself using i.e. SDM
You should run JSPM version 7.10.7 at least
    Then you can start JSPM.
I found out an alternative way to start JSPM server and GUI native on i, and then controlling the JSPM GUI using VNC.
    Here is how:
Get the vnc server for i software from:
    http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21243973
    put it in a savf
    CRTSAVF FILE(QGPL/Q5799PTL)
TEXT('iSeries Tools for Developers PRPQ (5799PTL)')
ftp binary mode your file to i
    put q5799ptl_v5r4m0.savf q5799ptl
    Restore lic
    RSTLICPGM LICPGM(5799PTL) DEV(*SAVF) LNG(2924) SAVF(QGPL/Q5799PTL)
Now you have a VNC server on your i.
    allow multi threaded jobs:
    ADDENVVAR ENVVAR(QIBM_MULTI_THREADED) VALUE(Y)
Continue as mentioned in OSS 1257481 - SAP NetWeaver Inst. Based on Kernel 7.11: IBM DB2 for i
Then start the vnc server as the <SID>ADM of your instance
Start the vnc viewer on your local (NT, MAC, Linux, OS/2) PC: you now have a 64-bit graphical PASE/Linux environment running on your i
    Now how to start JSPM:
Copy the gui file to the non gui file used by i/os:
    CPY OBJ('/usr/sap/NWD/DVEBMGS13/j2ee/JSPM/param/jspm_config.txt')
    TOOBJ('/usr/sap/NWD/DVEBMGS13/j2ee/JSPM/param/jspm-rui_config.txt') REPLACE(*YES)
Now on the VNC viewer GUI, open the xterm console
There you have a Linux 64-bit prompt, and there you can start jour JSPM:
    cd /usr/sap/<SID>/DVEBMGS<nn>/j2ee/JSPM
    (linux is case sensitive !!)
check if you have the JSPM program:
    ls -l g*
(you should see an executable go)
    start JSPM
    ./go
It takes a few minutes, but then after a while a JSPM GUI is shown, while the JSPM server side is started in the <SID> SBS R3_<nn>
No more local windows client is needed for JSPM, any OS can serve as a VNC viewer for your (remote) i

  • Install JAR on iSeries

    Hi.
I have developed a small Java application (Use from SAP XI), with the main functionality to Load a Tif image into a PDF page.
The application uses the jai_imageio library and works fine on a Windows Server Platform.
But how do I install/deploy the jai_imageio file on a iSeries Server?
    Any Ideas?
    Regards
    Henrik Paakjær
    SAP XI Consultant.

Now I have installed/repaired the Firmware via Ovi-Suite...
But the problem is still on the phone.
Wha can´t I install any JAR on the MMC - HELP

  • Error in creation of SAPLICENSE in install

    Hi,
I am trying to do a system copy to bring our SCM4.1 system from server A to server B. (The server A and server B have different hostnames).
I am in the process of installing my Database instance via SAPINST and it is giving me an error in the phase "create SAP License'.
In the log files it show me:
OS4Trace: Executing remote iSeries command: saplicense 'R3Setup SCT 61TAG1ZG TRACE=2'
I have checked the subsystem/job TMKSVR00 on AS400, which is running with both the DISPATCH and SAPINST jobs.
I ordered the new license key from SAP and was able to install it manually successfully.
    Any suggestions??
    Thanks
    Abhi

Have you checked the job logs of the sapinst process under the tmk subsystem?  It's probably a simple error...  If you can hack the license into the DB using SQLutil perhaps you can tell sapinst that it completed...  IIRC it's only trying to create the templicense?
    Andy
EDIT: it looks like you already installed the license so I would modify the install script to think it's done.

  • How do you send by secure ftp from SAP R/3 4.6C on iseries

We have been using the SAP Standard program, RSFTP002, to ftp files to remote servers for many years. We have now had a requirement to send via secure ftp. We are using R/3 4.6C. Unfortunatley this is not a straight forward change and it seems we may need to install some client software to enable this.
I have searched for any SAP notes and in several user groups but have not been too sucessful.
Has anyone ever set this up before? What client software did you use?
Any pointers / advice on this would be much appreciated.
    Many thanks,
    Steven

Further to my initial post, I have now discovered that there are additional options on the ftp command on iseries, so I am hoping if I can perform this manaully, then a CL called from SAP would allow me to resolve this challenge.
I am trying to use the command below but this will use the port 990.
    FTP RMTSYS(INTNETADR) INTNETADR('*.*.*.*') PORT(SECURE) SECCNN(*SSL)
The vendor is requesting that we use port 443 for secure ftp with SSL and even specifying this in the command as below still does not work. It seems to me there may be an issue at the receiving end. Port 443 is normally used for https so not sure whether specifying this port could cause issues. The resultant error is below.
    FTP RMTSYS(INTNETADR) INTNETADR('*.*.*.*') PORT(443) SECCNN(SSL)
Connecting to remote host 62.39.53.181 using port 443.
No response from remote host; all connections closed.
Any other comments would be welcomed.
    Many thanks,
    Steven
