Installation Difficulty

I am a High School Library Media specialist who is trying to
install Adobe Flash Player on several desktops within a classroom.
The computers OS is Windows 98.
When I visit the website that students need to use, I am
provided with the information that I need to install Adobe Flash
Player.
I click on the provided link, and am directed to home page
for installing Adobe Flash Player.
When I click on the yellow button "Agree and install now" I
am then directed to a new page.
Usually, when I am directed to this page on other computers,
a box pops up on the screen. This box is an "Internet
Explorer-Security Warning" box, and provides me with the option to
either "Install" of "Don't Install".
However, when the browser on these particular computers
navigates to this page, no pop up window appears. Additionally, the
text and/or image below the "Adobe Flash Player" menu bar does not
load. Instead, the space is left blank, with only a small box with
a block outline and a red X in the center.
Any suggestions on how to get the install popup window to
appear?
Also, usually when a pop up is being blocked, I receive a
notification, however, that is not happening on these computers.

Please try disabling your popup blockers temporarily and also
ensure that the Internet Explorer ActiveX settings are set
correctly
Browser security settings should be chosen by you or by your
system administrator. For single users who do not have an
administrator, the Medium: Default Level allows you to view Flash
content. For any Custom Level, ensure that both the "Download
Signed ActiveX controls" and "Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins"
options are set to "Prompt".
To change your security level:
1. Open Internet Explorer.
2. Choose Tools > Internet Options.
3. Select the Security tab.
4. Select Custom Level.
5. Find the section "ActiveX controls and plug-ins".
6. Set ' Download Signed ActiveX Controls' to Prompt.
7. Set 'Run ActiveX Controls And Plug-ins' to Prompt.
If you are having trouble, make sure that your Internet
Explorer security level is not set to High or to a custom level
that does not allow viewing of ActiveX controls.

Installation difficulty, Captivate 3

Problem: When attempting to install Captivate 3 from CD (or
dowloaded files), I am getting a message during the installation
that "The Systems Administrator has set policies to prevent this
installation."
Conditions: I am the "systems administrator." Laptop not
connected to any network running Windows XP (Home) with SP3
installed. All virus and spyware is current. Previous versions of
Captivate (ver 1, ver 2, and demo ver 3 were installed and then
successfully removed). This machine was used in the Captivate 2
beta test (code name=MonaLisa). MonaLisa could not be uninstalled
for some reason and so I removed the files manually (and this is
probably where the problem lies).
Attempted solutions: In trying to fix this, I have removed
all Captivate files from the registry, read and tried all of the
Adobe Knowledge Base fixes and have called Adobe help twice (with
no results). I can install other Adobe products and have and can
install other non-Adobe apps as well without any problem.
I think there must be some registry key left over from
MonaLisa that is preventing this but that is just a guess. Any help
or ideas will be greatly appreciated.

How frustrating. Unfortunately, this is not Adobe Support,
and I doubt you will find help here - though we can hope someone
has had the same problem and can offer a solution. I would contact
Adobe Customer Care unless you are installing *Trial* software, in
which case no support is available.

Driver Installation Difficulty

Hey guys,
I went through boot camp and put on a copy of windows 7 today but for some reason when I used my snow leopard install disk (which I bought in 2008 when it came out for my old computer) I am unable to run the set-up because I "cannot run 64 bit on this machine".
Now I am quite certain that I in fact CAN run 64 bit on this machine so I'm wondering what steps I should go through in order to get the drivers installed? Once I can get the wireless online then I can probably manage to find the rest but at the moment I can't get anything on.

Also just wanted to ask, is there anywhere online where I can just download the drivers? or is there any other disk that working ones could be found on?

CC 2014 double installation sucks ***

Does anyone agree with me that CC 2014 double installation, difficulty of removing the old CC versions, and the loss of add-ins, Arial Narrow and other issues suck ***?

I whole-heartedly agree, Adobe's creative cloud products — especially their installers, uninstallers and command-line utilities (CLI for end-uses?!) — clearly suck ***, big-time. Too bad the Patent Police keep everyone mindlessly subjugated.

How to start Photoshop CC? (and why is Lightroom hiding?)

Hello.
I've just become a subscriber (Photoshop cc and Lightroom).
Having downloaded Photoshop cc through the menu bar-app, I can not seem to find the launch button anywhere. Not on my desktop or in the launchpad menu on my macbook pro (10.9.1)
All I see in the cc menu, is that Photoshop cc is up to date. That's wonderful. But how do I launch it?
Also, I am paying for Lightroom as well, yet it doesn't appear in the app list. I then tried to get it on the website, but it redirects to the cc menu bar app.
A little notch in the right directing would be appreciated.

Please follow this step to fix the issue for launching photoshop CC
Please navigate to this location and rename OOBE folder to OOBE.old
Windows:
C:\Users\User name\AppData\Local\Adobe
Mac:
~/Library/Application Support/Adobe
Once done please try again login to CC Desktop apps and then launch Photoshop from application,let us know whether it fixes your issue.

Perhaps let's first try updating your Apple Software Update.
Launch Apple Software Update ("Start > All Programs > Apple Software Update"). Does it launch and offer you a newer version of Apple Software Update? If so, choose to install just that update to Apple Software Update. (Deselect any other software offered at the same time.)
If the ASU update goes through okay, try another iTunes install. Does it go through without the errors this time?

Difficulty starting from Tiger DVD on new hard drive for installation

I recently replaced the hard drive on my flatscreen iMac. I am having difficulty starting from the Tiger DVD to install the system software. The disk drive does have DVD-R capabilities, but is not a super drive. I hold down the "c" button as I start up with the Tiger DVD, but the screen appears the same way as it would if nothing were in the disk drive (grey with alternating smiley/"?" folder). I attempted to boot with my old 10.2 system CD, and was again unsuccessful as the CD ejected after a few more hopeful noises from inside the console and returned to my previously mentioned grey screen.
I also attempted to start while holding the option key which produced an uneventful blue screen with 2 arrow buttons that did nothing when I clicked them.
Keyboard and mouse are both working.

Changing your startup disk
You can make your computer start up from a CD, a network volume, a different disk or disk partition, or another operating system (such as Mac OS 9 if your computer supports it). To do so, you change your startup disk.
Open System Preferences and click Startup Disk.
If necessary, click the lock icon and type the name and password for an administrator user.
Click the icon of the system folder or system volume that you want to use, then click Restart.
IMPORTANT: When selecting a network startup volume, be sure you select a valid network startup volume and not a network install image. Choosing a network install image reinstalls your system software and may erase the contents of your hard disk. A standard network volume icon appears as a globe and Mac OS X system folder. When you select a network volume icon, a message appears in the Startup pane describing the volume. A network install icon appears as a globe with downward pointing green arrow.
Another way to select a startup disk is to hold down the Option key as you restart your computer. You'll see the available startup disks and can select one.
If your computer is on a network and a network startup volume is available, you can start up from the network startup volume by holding down the N key as you restart your computer.
If you start up your computer in Mac OS 9, use the Startup Disk control panel in the Apple menu to switch back to your Mac OS X startup disk. Then restart the computer.
If Mac OS 9 is not available, your computer will only start up in Mac OS X. You can still use most Mac OS 9 applications in the Classic environment. To do this, open System Preferences, click Classic, and then click Start.

Difficulty of RAM and HD upgrade installation.

I plan to buy one of the new Minis for my wife, and install larger RAM (probably OWC) and HD (probably WD). How difficult is the installation? I presume it is not as trivial as on my MacPro.
(I would be happy to pay for Apple upgrades, if they were just outrageously high, and not absurdly stratospheric! )

This is what I bought http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148191 but it's sold out now. I didn't realize when I posted earlier. I used the same in my MPB 2.4 (Late 2008).
I received my mini about an hour ago. I didn't feel like waiting for the RAM from Newegg to come so put the RAM in my MBP into the mini. Works great. I put the OEM RAM back in the MBP. When the Newegg RAM comes on Fri. I'll put that in the MBP.
At any rate, installing the RAM into the mini was pretty easier. It's a little nervy at first but the case peels away fairly easily if you apply a gentle hand. Once the lid is off it's easy. Pop off the antennas, remove 4 screws, and pop off a cable connector. The upper guts of the mini can then easily be flips. Pop in the RAM and reverse. The whole procedure took me about 15-20min, probably b/c it was my first time and I was extra cautious.

i can't find any reports of that (javascript) error in firefox. there are scores of reported problems using ie.
restart your computer, don't open ie and open firefox and retry using the link i suggested. if that fails, update your firefox. if that fails download using firefox on a different computer.

Have Mavericks OS and having difficulty opening Apache OpenOffice after installation.

Have Mavericks OS and installed Apache OpenOffice 4.0 on my new iMAC. When I tried to open the program I received this message: "OpenOffice cannot be opened because it is from an unidentified developer. Anyone care to suggest a solution?

The problem was successfully addressed in the side bar "more like this" under "RE:how to install Apache OpenOffice". By selecting "system preferences", and then "security & privacy", and selecting "allow apps to be downloaded from anywhere" I could successfully open the program. Thanks to all for the helpful suggestions.
