Installation Error Repository assistant OWB 9i

Hi,
I am trying to install OWB 9.2.0.2.8 in Oracle 9.2.0.6. I am having problems installing the repository assistant. It terminates abruptly.
Any help is appreciated. I have installed OWB 10g on Oracle 10g and had no problems.
I looked at the log, and this is what the last part of it said:

  • Error in installing a new Repository in OWB 10g Release 2

    Hi,

Does this mean, ... we have to install the OWB 64 bit and install a new repository in the 64 bit server? In my opinion you don't need to create new repository.
After migrating database to 64bit perform steps from Metalink note 434272.1 "How To Update Warehouse Builder 10.2 After A Database Cloning".
It is better to save the same path for new OWB 64bit software. If you install OWB into different path you need to update OWBRTPS table with new path to OWB software (look at metalink note 550271.1).

  • Error while cofigring OWB repository

    Hello,
I have installed Oracle Database 11g R2(11.2.0.1) in my laptop(windows 7,64 bit). Installation was successful and SYSTEM, OWBSYS etc schemas are already unlocked.
Now when I start to configure OWB through repository assistant, at the time of creation of OWB workspace, it's getting stuck.Hence, I killed the process and started all again.
But this time, it's showing error:
    java.lang exception:Package body error:
    OWBSYS.WB_WORKSPACE.MANAGEMENT has errors
Can anyone please  help me resolve this.
    Many Thanks..

    Hi,
Cleanup the old repository installation and start afresh as per the steps mentioned below(connection should be with any DBA user):
1.Drop the old workspace owner( if any).
2.Clean the owbsys user using the clean_owbsys.sql  located in <OWB_HOME>\owb\UnifiedRepos
where <OWB_HOME> is the oracle home for your OWB.
3.Recreate the owbsys using the script cat_owb.sql
4.Unlock the user owbsys and owbsys_audit
    5.Start the installation afresh.
Note: The repository creation can be successful but the OWB 11.2.0.1 design client will not work on windows 64-bit platform (11.2.0.3 is the first version that is supported on windows64-bit platform

  • OWB 9.0.4.8.21: Repository Assistant problem

We had no problem with the OWB 9.0.3
After the migration to OWB 9.0.4.8.21 we have problems with the repository assistent . I can start the assistant,
but after inserting my connection values and i want to go forward the assistant disappears without an error message. Then i test if get an sql*net connection and this failed also. Then i test the connection on a client without OWB 9.0.4: the connection was successfull.

    Thomas,
To get a meaningful error message that we can examine, can you please do the following:
    1. Go to the directory <OWB INSTALLATION>\owb\bin\win32
    2. Start the repository assistant manually by starting the batch file, by issuing the command:
    reposinst.bat > reposinst.log
    from a DOS prompt.
    3. Inspect reposinst.log
Let me know if this gave you some hints on your problem. My guess is that something is wrong with your sql net configuration, but lets see what is in the log file.
    Regards:
    Igor

  • OWB Repository Creation with Repository Assistant

    Dear All,
Im getting an error when configuring owb repository, this error raising at OWBSYS Information step. following is the error im getting
OWB software with the compatible version must be installed locally on the database server machine. If it is already installed, please acquire the DBA user credentials, and run the SQL script owb/uUnifiedRepos/remote_owb_install.sql. on the database server machine. This creates a database directory named 'OWB_REMOVE_ADMIN' that the remote installation will access to read the database servers OWBHOME/owb/bin/admin directory. Relaunch the repository Assistant or execute OWB scripting command OMBSEED top seed the repository.
Im trying to create repository on a database in another remote server. below are the my system details...
    Machine 1
    OS:Windows Server 2008 R2 (64 bit)
    Database: Oracle Database 11g Release 11.2.0.1.0 - 64bit Production
    Machine 2
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate (32 bit)
    Database: Oracle Database 11g Release 11.2.0.1.0 - 32bit Production
since i couldn't open design center in 64 bit environment im using the design center installed in 32 bit. where am i going wrong? what will be the ideal solution for this?
    thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    The error is self explanatory.
If you are doing repository installation on remote server you have to run the script <OH>/owb/uUnifiedRepos/remote_owb_install.sql(where OH is Oracle Home) in order to set the remote OWB home.
So as suggested in the error message itself you need to connect to the database as any DBA user and run the script remote_owb_install.sql and do the repository installation.
    Regards,
    Pnreddy.

I am new to OWB so please let me know if I've left out any information that would help in figuring out why the installation is not completing.
    Thanks.

The only thing I can think of in OWB 11g is that the main schema that is used, which is OWBSYS, wasn't fully installed or it doesn't have all the tables or views it needs or they weren't created properly with the cat_owb.sal script.
Something must not have been created right. I would try to stop all OWB services with the appropriate scripts in:
    <your_owb_home>owb\rtp\sql
    try the stop_service.sql script.
Then try to drop the users owbsys and whatever you might have created (if it exists) for a workspace owner user. Then clean up with:
    <your_owb_home>\owb\UnifiedRepos\clean_owbsys.sql
After that it is back to the drawing board from the beginning. DO these steps again that you likely did in the first place:
    1. create owbsys with:
    <your_owb_home>\owb\UnifiedRepos\cat_owb.sql <tablespace_name>
    2. Set the control center home with:
    <your_owb_home>\owb\UnifiedRepos\reset_owbcc_home.sql <your_owb_home>
*pay attention to the case of the the OWB HOME you give as a variable to the above script.  It needs to match the case of your real path.
    3. Finally unlock owbsys.
    4. look at <your_owb_home>\owb\bin\admin\ if the rtrepos.properties file size is at '0'. If it is for some reason, rename it to something else right now.
    5. Then try to run the repository assistant again.

  • Error configuring the repository using Repository Assistant.

    Hi,
I have a SYSDBA access to a oracle 9i instance and i tried to configure the OWB Repository through Repository Assistant. I am getting the following error.
How can i rectify this error.
INS0037 - The initialization parameter job_queue_processes of the Database <instance_Name> cannot be set to zero. the recommended value for OWB is 10 or larger. Please change the parameter settings in the database, then coontinue the repository installation.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Soma

    Hi Soma,
you have to set the parameter job_queue_processes for your db to 10 or larger.
In advance verify with your dba that the parameter is not set to zero on purpose to prevent other jobs from running!
    Regards,
    Carsten.

  • Installing OWB 10.2.0.1 Unable to start Repository Assistant  in XP

I've just installed OWB 10.2.0.1 on am XP machine with Oracle 10G running. I've used a different home as recommended. The application will not respond at all. I can't get the Repository Assistant to work among other issues. I just finished the install. I've done no other configuration. What do I still need to do?

    I've had the same problem:
On windows XP pro, 32 bit
    - Installed 9.2.0.1 Server
    - Installed 9.2.0.6 Patch
    - Installed Oracle Worflow + and created workflow user
    - Installed OWB_10.2.0.1.win.zip
All seemed to be fine until attempting to create the OWB repository owner.
The first problem is the same as mentioned above. The issue relates to the view dba_kgllock which was forced created against objects that do not exist. To solve this I used TOAD to find the script used to create the view, deleted the view and created an empty table with the same columns.
This is a complete HACK but allowed OWB Repository Assistant. All then continued and was looking good until about 60% complete and then the system fails with a socket read fail within java.
Thats it, I've stopped dead now, going to continue installation attempts in the morning

    (End of log file)

  • Owb repository assistant is not connecting

owb repository assistant is not connecting, its the error like
INS0009:unable to connect the database server with user sys.
wat this the way to solve

Might be your RTP service is down ..restart it and try to connect
