Installation hang during internet configuration Assitant
I install Oracle infrastructure on a windows 2003 server. But during internet configuration Assistant, setup can not go on. Click the stop button will not stop the processs. I select identity Management and OracleAS Metadata Repository.
Has anyone met this problem? I tried to repeat the installation, but eveytime the installation hang at this point.
Hi,
3 things you will need to do;
1- Read the install. manual well
2- check if you have a full qualified host name ex. server. your domain.com
3- Check for firewall
Hear from you,
Cheers,
Hamdy

Mac OSX Installer Hangs During Installation
Macbook Pro 15"
Core 2 Duo 2.53Ghz
4Gb RAM
9400M
Erased Hard Disk,
Boot from CD
Mac OSX installer hangs during installation
Time remaining remains the same for >3 hours
After clicking get spinny beachball cursor.
What should I do?
Thanks. The installer may actually not be hunging, in my installation on Win XP, I have seen it "pause" at this point for 5 min or more before continuing with the installation to a successful completion, I did not try to do anything to assist it. Try giving it more time and see what happens.

Edited by: user2493512 on Sep 20, 2012 11:30 PMPl post exact versions of "11g" and "Windows 7" - Home versions are not supported - you will need Professional or higher.
Looks like the "-ignoreSysprereqs" flag was used for the install - is there a reason for this ?

Mouse hangs during internet usuage
My logitech Ps2 mouse keeps hanging for a couple of seconds using Internet Explorer or Outlook Express on a Windows xp sp2 system. It seem's related to disk activity as if mult-tasking is stopped during some disk transfer. Anyone else noticed this? Fix?
It happened to me after I installed SP2, solved it by installing the Logitech mouse drivers. Anyway, I recently reinstalled XP with SP2 included and the Microsoft mouse drivers and (misteriously) no problems so far.

SQL Server Express 2012 SP2 installation hangs during extract phase
Greetings!
I am having an issue with trying to silent install SQL Server Express 2012 SP2 (x86).
I have a proprietary installation framework, which is calling the SQL Server Express installer.
The SQL Server Express installer starts extracting files to c:\{some guid}. The folder reaches about 11 mb in size, and then nothing further happens. No activity on the machine, CPU or disk - I have waited up to 15 minutes to verify this. On the normal installation,
the size of this folder is ~650 mb.
Here are the things I've also tested:
- I'm experiencing these symptoms on both Windows 7 and Windows Server 2012 R2 (haven't tested other platforms)
- If I launch exactly the same command from the command prompt, the installation goes through as normal
- If I replace the SQL Server Express 2012 SP2 with SQL Server Express 2012 SP1, and install via our installation framework, the installation goes through as normal
- I have checked and double-checked that our installation framework is started with administrative privileges.
- From my previous search attempts, I have seen issues where the installer would hang or fail when launched from inside an msi, which would result in a log in C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\<something something>. These are not the symptoms
I am experiencing. The C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\ folder is not even created!
Any suggestions, or places I can look to figure out why it's not proceeding? For now, I have worked around the issue by including SP1 instead of SP2, but ideally I'd like to base my solution on the most recent service pack.Hello Alberto!
The installation framework does check for this. I'm also certain that these prerequisites are fulfilled.
When the SQL Server process hangs, I can kill the process, copy/paste the exact command that was executed from the installation framework's log files, and execute that command in a command prompt - and then the installation runs as expected.
The installation framework installs SQL Server Express correctly if I use the 2008 R2 SP1 express or the 2012 SP1 Express installer. It's just the SP2 installer that is giving me problems.
The only difference I can think of is that the installation framework is a 32-bit process, which calls the SQL Server installer, while the command prompt is a 64-bit application. I am installing the SQLEXPR_x86_ENU.exe
from http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=43351, so it should be compatible with my 32 bit environment -
"SQLEXPR_x86 is the same product but supports installation onto both 32-bit and 64-bit (WoW) operating systems"
Tomorrow, I will try:
- Installing on Windows 7 32-bit
- Trying to launch the SQL Server installer from a powershell (x86) prompt, to emulate a 32-bit environment on a 64-bit machine -
Solaris Internet Configuration in VMWare and installation
Hi !
I'm really passionate about this unix-solaris thing.
But these nudges are pulling me back from installing it actually in my hard drive.
And also there is the Internet configuration problem.
Problem:1
I have 2 IDE HDD.
Primary HDD: 80 GB

SystemBoot-Primary/Active/NTFS-100 MB
Extended Partition:
VISTA-Logical/NTFS-20 GB
2008-Logical/NTFS-10 GB
Data-Logical/NTFS-25 GB
Music-Logical/NTFS-9.42 GB
Solaris-Logical/BLANK-10GB .....Blank = No FS. Used Acronis DD10 for it.
Slave HDD: 40 GB
Extended Partition:
XP-Logical/NTFS-10GB
Fedora9-Logical/ext3-10GB
SWAP-Logical/SWAP-2GB
OpenSUSE103-Logical/ext3-15.25 GB
When I came to HDD configuration stage of installation,
I selected the pre-selected c0d0(bootdisk) ---Primary HDD/80GB.
But when I proceeded further it showed me:

So I aborted the installation.
I tried one more time, by changing the Solaris Blank logical drive to a primary partition.
But it didn't work.
Now I think Solaris 10 cannot be installed in a logical drive or more broadly speaking(assuming) it cannot be installed in HDD having logical drives,it should be all primary partitions.
Please help me on this.
I'm sick of installing it in VMWare.
Problem: 2
How am I supposed to configure my network connection.
I connect to my ISP using WAN Miniport(PPPOE).
It allots me dynamic IP(v4).
I read somewhere DNS should f.root-servers.net and in a magazine, a.solaris.net
I never came across such a thing in even in linux.
Problem: 3
If there is not so feasible solution to problem 1, VMWare Workstation comes into play.
And here too, I need help for configuration of network connection.
These are the values that I got when I installed Windows XP in the VMWare.

On the SPARC unit (SGDSZ-IS) where Ipfilter and the SGD’s are running I have great access to the internet, but I am seeing that when I try to run a browser in a Local Zone the process for mozilla is runing in the Global zone.A process can only be in one zone at a time, but if you run 'ps' in the global zone, it can see processes in all zones.
In the global zone, you can run something like the following:
ps -e -o 'pid, zone, args'. That will show the zone associated with any particular process.
Mozillia process running in both the global and local zones.
ps–ef | grep moz in both the local and global zone confirms this.

Solaris 10 6/06 Installation hangs at "Configuring devices." stage.
I have tried to:
1) boot with "pci-reprog=off"
2) disabled Core Duo in BIOS
and with combinations of these.
But nothings helps.
My system:

TP tool hangs during installation of PI_BASIS Patch 6
Hello everyone,
I'm facing the problem that I can't get the PI_BASIS Patch (SAPKIPYJ76) installed (on MySAP ERP 2005 on SLES 9). It still does not go on in the phase 'IMPORT_PROPER'. In SM50 the process is in status "On Hold", reason "RFC". There is no error in the regarding logs, and the CPU utilization is near to 0% when no other user is logged in. I have searched through Sapnet and this forum, but couldn't get a hint to solve the problem.
I would be very glad when anybody could help me.
Regards,
ChristianHi Mike (and everyone else),
i could reproduce the error. When the installation hangs in phase DDIC_ACTIVATION, I can cancel the following work process in SM66:
Work process no. 6
Type BTC
Process ID 8087
Status stopped
Reason for waiting CPIC
Restart Yes
Terminations 1
Waiting for semaphore
When i now cancel the BGD process in SM50, too, the installation will continue normally.
Have you any idea what the reason is?
Best regards,

Ovi Suite 2.2.1.23 hangs during installation
Hi there - looking through the forums, this looks like a FAQ - there are several proposed solutions and I think I've tried them all but the same thing still happens: the installer hangs with the bar about a third of the way across.
Tried on both XP and Vista (though I've not tried ALL the proposed solutions on Vista). I *think* the bar went all the way across while I was watching on Vista before proceeding again and stopping about a third of the way.
This is a brand new install (bought a N900 today) and my first experience of Nokia. Not massively impressed so far!
I'm a developer - if anyone from Nokia wants to get in touch I'm happy to help with the investigation...
Clues appreciated!Sorry, just a quick cut-and-paste on my way out with logs from yesterday. Binary wasn't running twice.

Solaris 10 hangs on Running configuration assistant.
Hi all,
Yesterday I patched solaris using updatemanager (solaris 10 3/05 for x86 on a fujitsu scenic pc)
when i was finished i rebooted, goes down fine but when starting up it hangs att Running configuration manager/assistant and i can't get further.
I have tried to remove all hardware except the bootdisk and graphic-card from the machine, also tried to disable everything in bios that is not needed to boot ie serialports and so on but it stops at the exact same place, the same second as config manager starts the machine freezes.
Since i have had this installation for a while and have patched it before i draw the conclusion that it's something wrong in the latest patches..
Anybody else had similar problems???
Best Regards

I have similar problem after patching my x86 Solaris 10 using the 10_x86_Recommended patch cluster dated 26OCT2005, but I am running it on vmware workstation 5.
The panic occured during boot and the error read like,
panic[cpu0]/thread=fec1d660: boot_mapin(): No pp for pfnum = 1ffff

For vmware, a workaround is to boot the Solaris 10 118844-19 with option
"-k" ("b -k" at the boot prompt).
You can also try a binary patch to /platform/i86pc/kernel/unix,

BB Desktop Manager for PC hangs during start-up
My wife has a 2 years old HP laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit OS, at Service Pack 1 level. BB Desktop Manager for PC hangs during it's (BB Desktop's) start-up. Initially the screen with BlackBerry Desktop Manager and the BB logo appears but then it goes away and a smallish screen appears and never changes from a blank grey screen. If you mouse over the border it indicates it is not responding. She has been using this product on this PC with no major problems for several years. Looking in the Events Viewer, it seems the error first appears on 10/9/2011. Yesterday I tried to fix the issue by installing the laciest version RIM 6.1.0.36 (she was using .35) That made no difference. I have the program set to run as an Administrator and have told Norton to Trust it.
The Event log entry for the oldest such event contains the following:
The program Rim.Desktop.exe version 6.1.0.35 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Action Center control panel.
Process ID: 41d4
Start Time: 01cc86f573d09df1

Report Id: aa0d892a-f2e9-11e0-a448-002713bd2c63
Since it is necessary to either task-manager the blank window shut or to tell it to force it to close, these errors may be generated by that action.
Today I uninstalled it and reinstalled it but still no improvement. Any suggestions?I have just copied in the most recent attempt to start it. The full log is quite large

The installer hangs up or loops, what now?
Flash player says it is ready to down load a new version. I clicked on download. The installer hangs up or loops, never asking to save or run. There is now no version of Flash player on the machine. Am running Windows 7, internet explorer, 64 bit Acer laptop. Don

If you cannot find a solution on the above link, post back to this forum during the week when the Adobe staff people are here.
Good luck,

When one card is installed it acts as the Primary graphics card and it is required to disable to NI on-board graphics card in order for this to boot and function correctley.
If a 2nd Kontron CP322 card is added the system will hang during WinXP boot, as it switches from VGA to SVGA mode.
Disabling the 2nd card via device manager allows the system to boot.
Re-enabling the 2nd card once booted, then configuring with the ATI driver application allows the 4 graphics output to work as expected.
If the system is re-powered it will once again hang during WinXp booting.
Is there anything that can be configured on the NI Embedded PC (BIOS) to prevent this ?
Is there anything in windows that can be set to prevent this ?
Can we control the windows device manager from labview in order to enable/disable the 2nd card after power-on and before shutdown.
many thanksHi Scott,
I have some more information for you regarding your issue. We have tested the Kontron CP332 with the PXI-8196.
However when we tested the setup, we had 3 monitors working, the on-board graphics and the dual output from the card.
Until we get the on-board graphics working with a single CP332 I don't think we will get bot CP332's working.
So these are the steps to get on-board graphics working with a single Kontron card the steps come from talking to our PXI Product Support Engineer:
"The first thing you need to make sure is that you are using the
driver for Windows XP, and not the one for Windows 2000. Here's a link
to the driver download page:
http://us.kontron.com/index.php?searchword=cp+332&id=363
Notice that the first two driver downloads look just the same, but if
you hover over them and look at the url, you'll notice that the first
one is for Windows 2000 (w2k), and the second one is for Windows XP
(wxp). So, just make sure you are using the second one. The PSE did
mention that she was initially using the Win 2k driver, and was having
some issues with it hanging and all. Here's the information she sent me
about how she was able to get things working:
"Here is the info. My controller has BIOS version 1.3 but have him try this first before updating the BIOS.
The Kontron Board is the CP 332. I was able to get all three monitors working with the PXI-8196.
Configuration steps:
1) Insert both the controller and the kontron board in the chassis.
Note: When the computer is starting it will give you the Windows boot
up screen on the DVI 1 on the Kontron board and then give you the login
screen on the monitor connected to the 8196 so make sure you still have
a monitor connected to the controller.
2) Cancel the NI installation wizard if it comes up.
3)
Unzip the drivers and run the setup.exe file. Make sure you install
both the ATI display driver and the ATI Control Panel. (Check the zip
name to make sure you have the xp version of the driver)
4) After
restart go to the Display Properties and under the Settings tab you
should have monitors 1 and 2 on Mobility Radeon 9000 (Kontron CP-332)."
If you don't have BIOS version 1.20 or higher, please upgrade to BIOS version 1.30, if you need to upgrade the BIOS please make sure you fully understand the readme file. Then follow the steps above to enable triple output on the graphics cards.
When you have this working please try adding the second Kontron card.
