INSTALLATION ON HIGH AVAILABILITY USING WEBLOGIC SERVER

Hi All ,
IHAC where i am planning to propose the following architecture and I did not find much information on the OTN documentation
How to configure the BI Publisher for High Availability using Oracle Weblogic Server. I have gone thorugh the following document on OTN.
http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/xml-publisher/docs/BIP_HA.pdf
1) Can the BI Publisher be installed on a weblogic cluster having two nodes. I did not find any specific information on this in the BI publisher documents other than the link I mentioned above. Do we have any Enterprise Deployment guide for standalone BI Publisher ?
2) What is the best practice to implement the High Availability of BI Publisher on weblogic server.
Other info,
As mentioned in the above link I am planning to use the BIPublisher ultra scalable architecture.
Where the Load Balancer is HW load balancer and Internal load balancer is managed using the Apache configuration and Oracle XMLDB11.1.0.7 is used as the shared repository.
regards,
Pierre .

Hi
You have to have a shared drive for CI,SCS abd DB on the shared drive something like SAN.
You will have HACMP the IBM Cluster SW shall be configured and installed properly.
You may need support from the AIX engineer to configure it.
DB and CI installation will be done by Basis normally.
Yes ,there is arequirement to install and db and OS Filesystems on shared drive.
For further information ,you can look for inst guide at service.sap.com/instguides
Hope it helps.

    Hi Guys,
Need your expertise regarding hyper-v high availability. We setup 2 hyper-v 2012 host in our infra for our domain consolidation project. Unfortunately, we don't have hardware storage that is said to be a requirement that we can use to create a failover cluster
for hyper-v host to implement HA. Here's the setup:
    Host1
    HP Proliant L380 G7
    Windows Server 2012 Std
Hyper-V role, Failover Cluster Manager and File and Storage Services installed
    Host2
    Dell PowerEdge 2950

Hyper-V role, Failover Cluster Manager and File and Storage Services installed
    Storage
    Dell PowerEdge 6800
    Windows Server 2012 Std
    File and Storage Services installed
I'm able to configure the new feature about Shared Nothing Live Migration - i'm able to move VM's back and fort between my hosts without storage. But this is planned and proactive approach. My concern is to have my hyper-v host to become highly available in
the event of system failure. If my host1 dies, the VMs should go/move to host2 and vice versa. In setting this up, i believe i need to enable the failover clustering between my hyper-v hosts which i already did but upon validation, it says "No disks
were found on which to perform cluster validation tests." Is it possible to cluster it using just a regular windows file server? I've read about SMB 3.0 and i've configured it as well i'm able to save VMs on my file server, but i don't think that my hyper-v
    hosts are already highly available.
Any feedback and suggestions or recommendation is highly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Your shared storage is a single point of failure with this scenario so I would not consider the whole setup as a production configuration... Also setup is both slow (all I/O is travelling down the wire to storage server, running VMs from DAS is ages faster)
and expensive (third server + extra Windows license). I would think twice about what you do and either deploy a built-in VM replication technologies (Hyper-V Replica) and apps built-in clustering features that does not require shared storage (SQL Server and
Database Mirroring for example, BTW what workload do you run?) or use some third-party software creating fault tolerant shared storage from DAS or investing into physical shared storage hardware (HA one of course).
    Hi VR38DETT,
Thanks for responding. The hosts will cater a domain controller (on each host), Web filtering software (Websense), Anti-Virus (McAfee ePO), WSUS and an Auditserver as of the moment. Is the Hyper-V Replica somewhat give "high availability" to VMs or Hyper-V
hosts? Also, is the cluster required in order to implement it? Haven't tried that but worth a try.

  • How to load Java properties file dynamically using weblogic server

    Hi,
We are using Java properties file in Java code. Properties in java properties file are frequently modified. If I keep these properties file in project classpath or as part of war, I will have to redeploy application after each change.
    We are using Weblogic Server.
Can you please suggest me how can this properties file be loaded at weblogic server startup. Then in that case, how to refer property file in Java code?
What is the best practice for this?
    Thanks,
    Parshant

Another alternative is, keep the property file in any pre-defined location. Write a class which reads the properties from the file and returns the one which is requested by caller and deploy this class. Whenever you have to change the properties just update the property file on server and next call to fetch the property should return the updated one.
Downside of this approach is file I/O everytime. To overcome that you can actually "cache" the properties in a hashmap. Basically when any property if requested, first check the hashmap, if not found then only read from property file and also update in hash map. Next time same property will be returned from hash map itself. The hash map will be cleared at every server restart since its in the memory. You will also need to build a method to clear the hashmap when you update the values in the property file on server.
This solution would be suitable for small size files and when network overhead of calling a DB needs to be avoided.

  • Load balancing of DB RAC using weblogic server

    Hi All,
I want to test the load balancing of Data base RAC for my application. I got the box which is installed RAC in it with two nodes. I configured the multidatasource which points to individual data sources to each node.
Is this configuration is correct or not? to test the load balancing of the Database. I come to know that there is something called SCAN from oracle 11g but it is not supported 100% by web-logic server(we are using weblogic server 9.2MP3).
How many requests I made all the requests are going to the Node1 only not even one is gone to the node2. Any specific reason.
    Thanks,

  • Is OIM 10.x available for WebLogic Server?

Is OIM 10.x available for WebLogic server? The only download I see on the site for OIM 10.x is the fully bundled suite with OracleAS.

If by OIM you mean Oracle Identity Manager, then OIM 9.1 is supported on Weblogic 10.x. OIM 9.1 is NOT part of or the same thing as Oracle Identity Management 10g. The latter is a set of services tightly coupled with Oracle's app server (OC4J). Identity Management 10g does not run on Weblogic. Some people like to say that Identity Management 10g includes all Oracle identity management products which adds to the confusion.

  • Weblogic 8.1 and Eclipse using Weblogic Server Tools

I am working on a project that has been developed with Weblogic 8.1 without integration into an IDE (Eclipse, etc.) We are trying to convert the source tree to a form usable within Eclipse using Weblogic Server Tools. We want to make deployment on developer workstations quicker and easier and provide for server side debugging. There is not much documentation on how to do this that I have been able to find. I have just finished reading the details of the split directory strucuture in the Weblogic documentation and understand that Server Tools uses the split directory concept. My question is basically how we create the project in Eclipse (with Server Tools plug-ins) initially. Is anyone out there still using Weblogic 8.1 and Eclipse 3.3 (Europa) using Weblogic Server Tools that can help?

There isn't much in a way of documentation that's explicit to WebLogic Server Tools, but a lot of Workshop 10.2 documentation applies. Basically, you will want to create Dynamic Web Projects to house your code. On the first page of Dynamic Web Project wizard, you will get a chance to define and target a server (WLS 8.1 in your case). That will configure your project classpath for WLS 8.1 and get everything else squared away.
Note that there is only very basic support for 8.1. In particular, the split-directory concept is not supported, but deployment is taken care of for you behind the scenes, so the details shouldn't matter that much.

  • Migrating Dimension Server from local installation to High Availability

    Hi Team,
When Hyperion was installed on the client site (11.1.2.3), there was no requirement for EPMA to become highly available.
Now that has become a requirement to make it highly available in the event that one of the virtual machine is unreachable.
In the event that a server becomes unavailable, it is acceptable for a manual failover procedure to be done.
What steps can be taken to prepare for such an event?
    Possible outcome:
Configure another dimension server on the second Virtual machine and leave it manually switched off.
Modify the IIS path to point to a clustered location accessible by both machines.
In the event of a failover, manually bring up the dimension server on the other machine.
This is yet to be implemented successfully.
    Current Scenerio:
    1 x Windows Machine hosting:
      Foundation Services
      Calculation Manager
      Performance Architect
      Planning
      Reporting and Analysis
Repository location on a shared mount (Clustered filesystem)
      FDQM
      Essbase
      Analytic Provider Services
      Essbase Integration Services (not used)
      Essbase Studio (not used)
    1 x Linux Machine
      Essbase Server
      Arborpath on a shared mount
Aim: Add 2 new Virtual Machines ( 1 x Windows App Server + 1 x Linux Essbase Server) for high availability.
    Progress:
      Windows Machine components clustered:
      Foundation Services
      Calculation Manager
      Planning
      Reporting and Analysis
      Essbase
      Analytic Provider Services
      Linux Essbase Machines:
      Configured Active/Passive using OPMN
    Challenge faced:
Failover scenerio can be a manual list of steps to provide functionaility.
Please provide support on introducing failover steps for dimension server.

    Remote Desktop/Preferences/Task Server
Add the FQDN or I.P address of your server in this pane on your book(basically your pointing your book to your installed software on the other machine). Setup your server with the installs you want it to make, and administer it via your book (or any machines with another unlimited ARD) IF you want report generation, you would schedule the clients to send the info to the server. A task server can only do 2 things, install packages or change client settings, thats it.

  • URL to be used in high availability for Directory Server

    Hi All,
I have an environment configured for high availability. I have two OVD and OID servers each in this environment, configured in high availability. What should be the value in the Server URL field of the Directory Server IT Resource in the OIM for this environment? In the normal environment, I had it as "ldap://ovdhost01:6501" and it was working fine. But since there are two servers here, I am not sure what URL to use in place of this. The entry for the two ovd hosts in the OHS is "idstore.com" which is configured on 6501 port. But I tried using the following URLs and none of them worked:
    1. idstore.com
    2. ldap://idstore.com
    3. ldap://idstore.com:6501
    4. ldap://ovdhost01:6501,ldap://ovdhost01:6501
Can someone help me know the correct URL to be used in this case?
    Thanks,
    $id

Not sure about OVD or OID but for SOA and OIM:
    SOA:
    XMLConfig -> XMLConfig.SOAConfig -> SOAConfig
    Rmiurl -> t3://soahost1:soaport1,soahost2:soaport2
Soapurl -> Load balancer or web server url (without the /workflow context)
    OIM:
    XMLConfig -> XMLConfig.DiscoveryConfig -> Discovery
OimFrontEndUrl -> Load balance or web server url (without the /oim context)
And ofcourse on your LB or WebServer, you need to configure these:
    SOA: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/core.1111/e10106/ha_soa.htm#CHDDJEGD
    OIM: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E21764_01/core.1111/e10106/imha.htm#BGBDFEIE

I would like to ask you about this thing. I'm working for IT department for bank in Myanmar. Our bank have up to 96 branches across all of Myanmar including H.O. We are using Microsoft SQL Server 2005 with Windows Server 2008 for our banking
information system. My main problem is having to backup and restore the database backup files every time the servers in branches goes down for whatever reasons. I want to deploy this feature of high availability and failover cluster using Windows Server 2008
and SQL Server 2005. Our branches have 2 Servers. One is for Primary and other is for Backup. What I want to do is that, I want to change Backup Server to Primary Server whenever the Primary Server goes down for whatever reasons. All the working data and databases
from Primary will immediately replicated into Backup Server along with all the IP information of Primary Server. Please give me step by step guide for this process.

    Try below

I will recommend you to upgrade SQL server to newer version for support as well as flexibility.
