Installation Oracle 10.2.01 on Fedora 7

Has established ORACLE and a DB.
in a browser I type http: // localhost.localdomain:1158/em, and normally I enter into a DB.
SQLPlus also all is normal.
And here isqlplus does not pass (http: // localhost.localdomain:5560/isqlplus)???????
Has started service iSQLPlus
[sash@ficsoz ~]$ isqlplusctl start
iSQL*Plus 10.2.0.1.0
Copyright (c) 2003, 2005, Oracle. All rights reserved.
Starting iSQL*Plus ...
iSQL*Plus started.
[sash@ficsoz ~]$
[sashn@ficsoz ~]$ cat $ORACLE_HOME/install/readme.txt
The following J2EE Applications have been deployed and are accessible at the URLs listed below.
iSQL*Plus URL:
http://localhost.localdomain:5560/isqlplus
iSQL*Plus DBA URL:
http://localhost.localdomain:5560/isqlplus/dba
http://localhost.localdomain:1158/em
[sashn@ficsoz ~]$

isqlplus has sysoper/sysdba roles disbled by default (security issues), the last version which allowed sysdba/sysoper was the initial 9i Release.
Instead of isqlplus, you have tu use isqlplusdba, but you have to configure it.
Let's remember isqlplus is a J2EE based application, and security is implemented through JAZN, so all of the files and related procedures have to be implemented.
Steps to Enable SYSDBA, SYSOPER through iSQL*Plus:
1. Change to the isqlplus directory
cd $ORACLE_HOME/oc4j/j2ee/isqlplus application-deployements/isqlplus
2. invoke jazn in shell mode:
$JAVA_HOME/bin/java -Djava.security.properties=$ORACLE-HOME/oc4j/j2ee/home/config/jazn.security.props -jar $ORACLE_HOME/oc4j/j2ee/home/jazn.jar -user "iSQL*Plus DBA/admin" -password welcome -shell
At the jazn prompt
3. JAZN> adduser "iSQL*Plus DBA" username password
4. JAZN> grantrole webDba "iSQL*Plus DBA" USERNAME
5. You are done, try it out.

  • Error in installation Oracle 8.1.6 on Fedora linux

I am getting the following error message while installing Oracle 8i release 2 (8.1.6) for linux intel on Fedora Linux.
"Symbol errorno, version GLIBC-2.0 not defined in libc.so.6 with link time reference (libzip.so)"
Earlier I have sucessfully installed on Redhat linux 8.0 without any problems.
    Kindly help

All the rpms mentioned in above link are already installed. the same error comes with Oracle 9i/AS also.
I quote here the exact error message:-
    [oracle@sczopngs cdrom]$ ./runInstaller
[oracle@sczopngs cdrom]$ Initializing Java Virtual Machine from /tmp/OraInstall/ jre/bin/jre. Please wait...

Unable to initialize threads: cannot find class java/lang/Thread
I don't have newer version of Oracle for linux , but dont think a newer version will solve the above problem as the same message is coming with Oracle 9i/AS also when I tried just to test..
This may problem with new relase of Linux Fedora with kernel 2.6.2.

  • Problems with Oracle Express 10.2 on Fedora core 6

Can someone please help with the installation of Oracle XE 10.2
    on Fedora Core 6.
I'm taking a database paper at university and we are using Oracle.
I'd like to get Oracle going on my home machine so I can do the assignments at home.
I have followed this installation procedure http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B25329_01/doc/install.102/b25144/toc.htm#CIHHJEHF
and the rpm seems to install without error and the configure script seems to go ok.

But when I try to go to the Database Home Page I get an Unable To Connect error from Firefox.
    Thanks

opmn is the Oracle Process Manager for the Application Server, which is included only on the companion disk of the SE and EE editions, not on the XE edition.
Verify the browser settings, and verify listener is up and running.
    lsnrctl status
you should see the 8080 and 2100 ports listed, which stands for the http server and ftp server.
You should see also the XE instance listed in the instances list.
Verify if there are any outstanding errors on the alertXE.log file. It has been reported that missing temporary files are the reason why it doesn't show the login page.
Also, verify the XE instance is up and running, just enter in a sql prompt from the OS and verify with the command
    show sga
    and
    select status from v$instance;

    Dear Avi Miller,
I have successfully installed both of servers (VM Server 3.0.2 & VM Manager 3.0.2) as below
+ VM Server 3.0.2 on Dell PowerEdge 1950
+ VM Manager 3.0.2 in OEL 6.1 on Sun Fire X4100M2 Server
Refer to Oracle VM Server 3.0 Document, they recommend to do Discover Oracle VM Servers to VM Manager first of all step then do anything else like Creating a Server Pool so I try to do Discover Oracle VM Servers in many times but still not success.
What I try to do Discover Oracle Servers as below:
After I install both already I start to Discover Oracle VM quickly
    1. Log into Oracle VM Manager
    2. Select the Hardware view.
    3. Select Discover from the Actions menu. The Discover Servers dialog box is displayed.
    4. Enter information about the Oracle VM Server(s) to be discovered.
    5. Specify an IP Address (or rang): IP_of VM Server and Click Add
    6. Put password of VM Server Agent
    7. Click OK
Wait a minute the Status of VM Manager show fail and when I click Detail it show as below:

  • Installation Oracle 8i with Forms 5.0

    Hi ,
I am trying to install Forms 5.0 in windows 2000 professional which has oracle 8.1.7.
After installation Oracle 8.1.7 gets disabled and Forms 5.0 too did not run.
Please let me know the solution for this problem.
    thanks ,
    Nimit

    1. Forms 5 (Dev 2.1) must be installed onto a new oracle home, not in the same on where 817 is.
    2. It is a good idea to install Forms 5 first, then 817.
Let me know if this solved your problem

By the way, all these versions on the main page should have some kind of description, something like "This is the Linux Version for most standard 32Bit single and multiprocessor Intel compatible servers."
Well, since I'm completely stuck now with SUSE 10.1, is there any way to make the Oracle installer go on that SUSE version? Maybe SUSE can pretend to be version 9... but how do I achieve something freaky as this?
Thanks for any help, comments, suggestions...
    Karsten

BTW, I think it's bad practice by Oracle not supporting SUSE 10.1.Actually, I think it is good practise for Oracle not to certify the public beta versions of an operating system.
Please remember that Fedora and SuSE Linux are cycled every 6-8 months, making then truly unstable for commercial purposes. IN addition, they are often desupported by the comminuty within 2-3 years, forcing upgrades. And finally, Both Red Hat and SuSE/Novell publically state that these are 'proving grounds for new features' (meaning they are beta).
Certification means that Oracle will invest heavily and train people on the specific operating system and work with the operating system supplier, 24x7 if needed, to make sure that customers will continue in production. I am not aware that the SuSE Linux or Fedora supporters are willing to put in 24x7 support they way the Red Hat and SuSE Enterprise groups are.
This does not imply the public OSs are bad. It just means that Oracle (and I) believe they are unsuited for commercial, business mission critical, immediate support required, environments.
By the way, I have the combination of Oracle10g and SuSE Linux 10.1 working, and it works well. However, I did need to make sure that the libraries to which Oracle10g was compiled are available in the OS.
Or maybe Sybase does better.... ;-pNot if the [glibc] libraries are incompatible. Nor does PostgreSQL nor MySQL.

  • Oracle 10g on Red Hat Fedora

I've downloaded Oracle 10g Express edition on to my computer running a Red Hat Fedora Linux OS. However having read the getting started page of the database setup and followed the instructions to open the Go To Database Home Page, on my applications menu section, I am greeted by a Unable to Connect to Server page. Followed by: Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at 127.0.0.1.
Has any one else had this problem? If so how can it be resolved?
I have already turned off the firewall on my OS and it has made no difference. Is it Oracles fault in that they have not maintained this page on their website? Or is it a problem with the way my computer is set?

If you were able to reach to the end of the installation, then make sure both your database and listener are up and running. OracleXE requires the database to be registered against the listener to have the http access enabled.
From an OS prompt, ensure your environment variables are properly set,
    ORACLE_HOME=pathToYourOracleHome
ORACLE_SID=XE #verify the instance name, xe or XE, it is case sensitive
    PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/bin:$PATH
Then issue this command to verify the listener is up and running:
    lsnrctl status
There you should see the http port at 8080 and the XE instance registered against the listener.
And verify the database is working:
    sqlplus / as sysdba
    SQL> select status from v$instance
You should see OPEN as the status.
Please post the output of the above commands.

I am trying to use my pet cat as a boat and it doesn't work either. That's because, just like the OP, you are not taking the right approach. You simply need to MODIFY the cat - in your case, by adding a few things: a keel, ribs, hull, mast, sails, rudder, tiller (to name a few).
Similarly, OP needs to MODIFY Snow Leopard by adding the appropriate infrastructure, executables, and configuration to meet the install requirements. Just because that implies a different kernel and system libs doesn't mean it can't be done.

AFAIK, Snow Leopard has not been certified for 10g yet.
Pl confirm that you meet all of the requirements for the install - http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/install.102/b25286/toc.htm
