Installer & java 1.4.2 bug (jre1.6 works)

Hello,
I'm working with JWS and jre 1.4.2 and I need to use an "installer" to copy special files.
So, I tried to create an application JNLP using this JSP:
<%@ page contentType="application/x-java-jnlp-file" autoFlush="true"%>
<?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8' ?>
<jnlp spec='1.0'
      codebase='http://localhost:9080/deployerWeb'
      href='application.jsp'>
  <information>
    <title>Application</title>
    <vendor>Company</vendor>
    <description kind='one-line'>
      Application
    </description>
  </information>
  <resources>
    <j2se version='1.4+' />
    <extension href='http://10.142.87.92:9080/deployerWeb/installer.jsp' />
    <jar href='application.jar' main='true' />
  </resources>
  <application-desc main-class='com.company.jws.Application' />
</jnlp>and an installer using this one:
<%@ page contentType="application/x-java-jnlp-file" autoFlush="true"%>
<?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8' ?>
<jnlp spec='1.0'
      codebase='http://localhost:9080/deployerWeb'
      href='installer.jsp'>
  <information>
    <title>Installer</title>
    <vendor>Company</vendor>
    <description kind='one-line'>
      Installer
    </description>
  </information>
  <resources>
    <j2se version='1.4+' />
    <jar href='installer.jar' main='true' />
  </resources>
  <installer-desc main-class='com.company.jws.Installer' />
</jnlp>The installer does nothing:
package com.company.jws;
import javax.jnlp.ExtensionInstallerService;
import javax.jnlp.ServiceManager;
import javax.jnlp.UnavailableServiceException;
public class Installer {
     protected static void install() {
          try {
               ExtensionInstallerService installerService = (ExtensionInstallerService) ServiceManager
                         .lookup("javax.jnlp.ExtensionInstallerService");
               boolean installed = false;
               try {
                    //JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null, "TODO: write common files");
                    installed = true;
               } finally {
                    if (installed) {
                         installerService.installSucceeded(false);
                    } else {
                         installerService.installFailed();
          } catch (UnavailableServiceException e) {
               //JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null, "Install failed!");
     protected static void uninstall() {
          //JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null, "TODO: delete common files");
     public static void main(String[] args) throws UnavailableServiceException {
          if (args[0].equals("install")) {
               install();
          } else {
               uninstall();
}When I launch the application JNLP, everything is downloaded correctly, but when JWS start the installer, the progress bar is blicking.
When I finally decide to cancel the installer, I have the following error:
JNLPException[category: Erreur dans le fichier de lancement ("Error in the launching file"): Exception: null : LaunchDesc:

  • LiveCycle Workbench ES2 - "Java(TM) Platform SE binary has stopped working" Error

    Hi,
    I am getting this error when I try to create a new process o open an existing process.
    "Java(TM) Platform SE binary has stopped working"
    The only option is to click on a "Close" button and end the LC Workbench ES2 program.
    Also, when I try to open an existing form, it displays 'garbage' - a screenfull of control unrecognizable characters - instead of the form itself.
    When this error comes up, I also get a pop-up window with a list of log entries / errors (please see attached: Java Platform SE binary has stopped working.jpg)
    Environment:
    Windows Vista Ultimate running on HP Desktop (e9107c Intel CORE 2 Quad Processor withy 8 GB RAM, 750GB HDD)
    Downloaded and installed the Trial Version of LiveCycle ES2 package (Windows JBoss version)
    The LiveCycle ES2 server is installed properly and is working with the following services. Are there any missing services?
    LiveCycle Output ES2, LiveCycle Rights Management ES2, LiveCycle PDF Generator ES2 Evaluation, LiveCycle Process Management ES2, LiveCycle Workspace ES2, Applications and Services, LiveCycle ContentServices ES2, LiveCycle Forms ES2
    I already had Adobe Acrobat Pro Extended 9.2 and the associated LiveCycle Designer instaleld prior to installing the Trial of LC ES2.
    Basesd on the installation insttructions, I deleted the Designer ES from my Acrobat Pro Extended and instaleld the LC Workbench ES2.
    Now I don't see a seprate entry for the LC Designer ES2 anymore on my Start >> Programs.
    And th newly installed LC Workbench is not working
    Any help in making the workbench 'work' is greatly appreciated.
    Are there any tests we can do to troubleshoot this?
    Thanks.

    Here is some additional information that may be helpful in identifying the cause for this problem.
    Here is the Exact ERROR :
    Java (TM) Platform SE binary has stopped working
    A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.
    Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
    Button: "Close Program".
    On clicking that button, the error window goes away; the main LC WB ES2 program also closes; but a long error window appears. The full screenshot was attached in my original message. The top few lines are reproduced below.

    The main problem is...
    I am NOT able to create a new process or open existing process using workbench.
    Since it gives Java Platform SE error, I checked the versions of various Java Run Time Environments on my pc.
    Properties of javaw.exe in different folders:
    1. My Computer's JRE (common to all apps)
    Folder: Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\

  • Java(TM) Platform SE binary has stopped working when I install Java

    Hi everyone
    I have a computer where I not can uninstall or install Java.
    Every time I try to run the Java uninstaller, or the Java installer (the latest version 7 Update 51),
    Windows give me the following message:
    Java(TM) Platform SE binary has stopped working
    A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.
    Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
    When I click ok to the message, the uninstaller process continue, and after that, I guess Java is
    correct uninstalled, but I am not sure, because I still can find an add-on in Internet Explorer 11 from Java, but the folders etc. from the computer is
    deleted.
    Therefore I searched in the Windows registry database, and deleted all keys and sub keys regarding Java.
    Before I tried to install Java again, I run a registry cleaning tool and the tool also find many errors that I fixed with the tool.
    When I tried to install the latest version of Java again, the installation program give me the same results I describe above.
    After the installation I am more confused before I uninstalled the older version, because:
    1. When I start up Internet Explorer 11, I allow that the Java ADD-On must run, but if I try to verify that Java is installed correctly nothing happen
    2. If I try to run Java in the browser Google Chrome, Java run correctly, and I also can verify that Java
    is installed correctly.
    Another error message
    Windows give me when I installed Java is that a process in Windows called
    Rundll32.exe is stopped.
      When I install / uninstall other programs all working fine.
    If you have a solution I can try, or alternative an answer to why the problem come up, I will be
    happy.
    The computer is running Windows 7 64-bit Service Pack 1.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Anders

    Have you installed Microsoft Office 2010 on your development machine?
    Especially if you have installed Office Groove 2010, this problem will happen.
    So, uninstall Groove and try to create a process. If the problem still persists, unstall Office 2010 compeltely and try again.

    Same thing happens to me. As far as I can tell, it just started a few days ago. I have made no changes of which I am aware. Today, I disabled Java Development toolkit add-ons. (One was already disabled, but one was still active.) I have only one version of shockwave flash running as a Firefox add-on. Having more than one version running is a known issue with Firefox. Reluctantly, I have just made IE my default browser, after several years as a devout Firefox fan. Pretty frustrating.

    I have installed java web start on a windows NT4 work station (service pack 6) with a directx v5. I successfuly launch the sun applications such as swing set 2, but I have some troubles concerning our software which used another look and feel than the default one. A system error is raised saying that the library ddraw.dll could not be loaded.

    Thank you.

    Hello Sim085
    thanks for your reply.
    Perhaps it would be easier for us to continue the programming with any kind of VisualStudio Produkt ;-), although we dont't had to think about OOP yet!
    Because of our new Network-Technology (Terminal-Server) we have to discuss serveral possibilities.
    I've read about JSP and ASP.NET, and I want to know if JSP or any kind of JAVA Program will run on a Terminal-Server.
    Are there any special aspects I have to know when running JSP on a terminal server from Microsoft? Is it better to program applications in JAVA or in JSP? ...
    Thanks

  • How do u get a Java method to call itself? Not working here.

    How do u get a Java method to call itself? Not working here. I am using the "this" keyword. Thanks.
    Below, I would like to call checkIt method in itself.
    Ex.
    public class ABC {
    public String checkIt(String abc){
    if....
    checkIt(abc);
    }

    Assuming you are getting stack overflows (likely if you're unfamiliar with recursive calls), you need to put some sort of check condition inside the method so it doesn't call itself endlessly (AKA "infinite recursion").

    Hi,
    When I run the Java 1.4.2 plugin on Red Hat Linux 7.3, I get the following error when Netscape starts up:

    After that Netscape just quits. If I remove libjavaplugin_oji.so, then Netscape starts fine but doesn't have Java. Netscape 7.1 doesn't work with Java 1.4.1_03 on Linux either.
    Netscape 7.02 does work with both versions of the Java plugin on Linux. Has anyone gotten Netscape 7.1 running with Java? Does anyone have suggestions?

    Looks like you have conflict with your java home and you are running 2 different JREs. Keep the latest and try launching EM console again and post the exception if you get any.

    Vish,
    You may want to try one of the Java forums, as your question is specific to the JDK/JRE, and nothing to do with JDev/ADF. {forum:id=937} might be a good starting place.
