Installing ALBPM Studio under Suse Linux

I have downloaded the Linux installer for ALBM studio 5.7. When I run the installer, I get numerous file not found errors for shared objects. I am running Suse 10.1.
Looking on the release notes under installer known issues, I read: "When pointing to an incorrect JVM during a Unix installation, an error message in the installer indicates that a 1.4.2 JVM is valid when a JVM 1.5.0 is required. (Issue #18998)". My default JVM is 1.4.2 but I can't find any indication in the doc that a 1.5 JVM is required to run the installer or any advice on how to direct the installer to a different JVM, so this may be irrelevant.
Any help appreciated.
Here's the output of running the installer:

Suse 10.1 is not officialy supported for BPM 5.7.0, it has a compatibility issue with the installer. We have fixed that for 5.7.1.
A quick fix is to comment the offending line in the installer script.
This is a quick hack to fix it, but it is not supported. (assume $1 is the installer file)
#!/bin/sh
cp $1 $1.bak
cat $1.bak | sed "s/export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL/#xport LD_ASSUME_KERNEL/" > $1
rm $1.bak

I found another thread in this forum where you can look up how to extend your swap space (look at the bottom of that thread):
re:Out of swap space during 9iAS install.
I am very new to Linux, I am very much disappointed,
I installed Linux with lots of hopes that I can
Install Oracle tools easily on Linux and work
comfortably. Now If I cannot intall a small database
Oracle XE, even with 1GB Ram and 25GB harddrive on
Linux, I don't realize why people run for Linux.
I could Oracle XE on windows on a machine with 512
mb ram in 4 minutes.Maybe you should take into consideration that you are not so "new" to windows and that each new system has a learning curve.
Someone please help.. in detail. How to resize the
swap partition at this point.Look in the provided link.
I have very limitted or no knowldge in Linux.Maybe you should change that or stay with what you know. I don't see any other way ...
As a sidenote, each command under Linux does have a so called "man" page (from manual). You also need to open a shell to access those commands as shown in the thread.
And please, take a look at the commands in that thread before you start implementing, since for example the dd command seems only to create a file with a size of 512M.
Knowing how to use a search engine would also be a valuable asset in your current position.

  • UIX dynamic image generation problem under SUSE Linux

    Hi,
we have developed an application with UIX 2.1.14 under Windows 2000, and everything works fine when we run the application on the local OC4J.
But after deploying the .war file to our production system under SUSE Linux SLES-7 and 9iAS Rel.2, the dynamic image generation doesn't work correctly:
One strange thing we noticed is that rendering works fine when we use ground colours like #00FF00, #FF0000 and so on. But not when we use colours like #3172ba. We have tried this with XVFB, VNC and with "headless" JDK 1.4 (with java option -Djava.awt.headless=true in opmn.xml).
Any ideas? Or possible reasons why image generation works using colours like #FF0000 and why not with colours like #3172BA?

  • Can't Install Solution Manager on Suse Linux Enterprise Server 10 - JAVA

    Hello everyone!
I've been trying to complete the pre-requisites in order to install Solution Manager SR2 on Suse Linux Enterprise Server 10 x64 - SP1.
There's only one last condition that I haven't met, and it's the Java Runtime Environment version...
I checked the recommended note 867110 and it says that  i need to have installed the J2SDK 1.4.2_08.
SLES10 includes the 1.4.2_13, so I had to uninstall it, and download the right version from  Sun Microsystem's official webpage.
When I installed the version 1.4.2_08, i'm not able to run SAPINST because there's no Java Runtime Environment running on the server.
I started to investigate and I found in some forums [NOT EXPLICITLY] that there's no port for J2SDK 1.4.2_08 on x64 linux systems.
I can't believe this is true because SLES10 is recommended by SAP to install Solution Manager, so I hope somebody can help me on this.
My specific question is: Does anybody know if is true that J2SDK 1.4.2_08 is NOT COMPATIBLE with x64 Linux?
In case of being true, is there any way to be able to run SAPINST ? because if I enable the version SLES brings built in, i'm able to run the SAPINST but it detects that i'm not running version 1.4.2_08 and doesn't allow me to continue installation.
I hope somebody can help me soon...
    Regards!

    > SAPINST_JRE_HOME=/opt/IBMJava2-s390-142/jre/bin:$PATH
    >
    > JAVA_HOME=/opt/IBMJava2-s390-142/jre/bin:$PATH
You downloaded the wrong version - the one you have is for Z-Linux(Linux running on the mainframe - not for x64).
You need to download the x86_64 (or AMD64) version.
Install the correct one and try on a new console:
    export JAVA_HOME=/opt/IBMJava2-amd64-142
    export PATH=$JAVA_HOME/bin:$PATH
    Then execute
    java -fullversion
and it should show the correct version.

  • Problem with installing Oracle 10g on Suse Linux

    Hi everybody!
I downloaded Oracle 10g Express from this url:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/xe/htdocs/102xelinsoft.html
it is free version for developers.
I copied it into computer where was installed Suse Linux Enterprise Edition.
But when I run it shows this kind of error:
error: rpmReadSignature failed: region failed: BAD, tag 15872 type 2047 offset 20480 count 4096
    error: oracle-xe-univ-10.2.0.1-1.i386.rpm cannot be installed
It was downloaded without any problem. But checksum is different from that shown on website. I think this is the problem.
What is the problem? Does anybody know answer?
    Regards,
    Seti's fiction

Yes, you appear to have a bad copy.
I have not had a problem when the check sum matched. Therefore I encourage you to download again.

So i want to know the necessary things i need to keep in mind before going to configure datawarehouse for the customer. Can you guys please suggest me the things i need to take care?

    Thanks in Advance

But when i don't give the oracle user all rights, it isn't possible to proceed with theinstallation
But if you give that rights then it's a security hole. According to your words I guess you have similar enviroment settings:
    ORACLE_BASE=/
    ORACLE_HOME=/<directory_name>
Why you not installing on deeper directory such as /opt or some your own directory? For example
    ORACLE_BASE=/myoracledir
    ORACLE_HOME=$ORACLE_BASE/<directory_name>
    Then chown -R oracle:dba /myoracledir.
Then oracle will be owner just for /myoracle directory and all its subdirectories.
i just could look at the error details, but they didn't described the erroranyway.
That's not so true. Error log you could find in /tmp/OraInstallYYYY-MM-DD_HH_MI_SS..

  • Install Oracle 10g on Suse Linux Enterprise Server 10

Will 10g install on Suse Linux Enterprise Server 10? If so, what setting do I need to change to get it to install?

Yes, it will install. Oracle supports it.Apparently they forgot to tell support. Certify still holds at SLES 9.
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/support/metalink/index.html
It's possible to make it work. However, I usually watch http://www.novell.com/products/server/oracle/matrix.html for info.

  • How to install java under suse linux 8.0 prof

    hi,
first of all, i'm a newbie.
i have downloaded the file j2re-1_4_0_01-linux-i586.bin into my public_html directory.
which comand do i have to use to install java??
    please help!
    best regards
    Mad Elk

I found this on Sun's Site, it should help. If it is a bin file, you should just have to type whateverItIsCalled.bin and hit enter. Make sure it is in the directory you want to install it in!
    Installation of Self-Extracting Binary
Use the following instructions if you want to use the self-extracting binary file to install the Java 2 SDK. If you want to install RPM packages instead, see Installation of RPM File.
    1. Check the download file size.
Before you download a file, notice that its byte size is provided on the download page. Once the download has completed, check that you have downloaded the full, uncorrupted software file.
    2. Copy j2sdk-1_3_1_<version number>-linux-i586.bin to the directory into which you want to install the Java 2 SDK.
    3. Run j2sdk-1_3_1_<version number>-linux-i586.bin
Launch the executable file you downloaded, j2sdk-1_3_1_<version number>-linux-i586.bin, by using the following commands from the directory in which it is located:
    chmod a+x j2sdk-1_3_1_<version number>-linux-i586.bin
    ./j2sdk-1_3_1_<version number>-linux-i586.bin
The script will display a binary license agreement, which you will be asked to agree to before installation can proceed. Once you have agreed to the license, the install script will install the Java 2 SDK in a directory named jdk1.3.1_<version number> in the current directory.
Note about root access - Unbundling the software automatically creates a directory called jdk1.3.1_<version number>. If you choose to install the Java 2 SDK into system-wide location such as /usr/local, you must first become root to gain the necessary permissions. If you do not have root access, simply install the Java 2 SDK into your home directory, or a subdirectory that you have permission to write to.
Note about overwriting files - If you unpack the software or documentation in a directory that contains a subdirectory named jdk1.3.1_<version number>, the new software will overwrite files of the same name in that jdk1.3.1_<version number> directory. Be careful to rename the old directory if it contains files you would like to keep.

  • Cant get JMF Running under Suse Linux 9.2

    Hello,
I'am just going to start with a project to implement a SIP based Voice and (perhaps) videoconferencing application. I want to use Java with JMF and develop it using Linux.
Now my problem is, that the JMF Linux performance Pack will not work for me. (Yes I 've used the search function, but without success).
I installed JMF after downloading it and set the variables like this:
    export JMF_HOME=/home/brinkop/Programme/JMF-2.2.1e
    export CLASSPATH=$JMF_HOME/lib/jmf.jar
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$JMFHOME/libI even tried JMFHOME instead of JMF_HOME
I put these entries in my /home/.profil
Know Iam able to start the JMStudio. Capturing Sound works. But now I wrote my first Code and tried to detect my soundcard as a capture device -> doesnt work :-( No devices found.
I made a jar file of it and launched it:
    ~/SoftwareEntwicklung/Arbeitsverzeichnis> java -jar JMFTest.jar
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: javax/media/CaptureDeviceManager
            at Geraetefinder.sucheGeraete(Geraetefinder.java:40)
            at Geraetefinder.<init>(Geraetefinder.java:31)
at Geraetefinder.main(Geraetefinder.java:35)But the same file works fine on my windows machine. So the problem must be in the PATHES.
But they seem to be right! The diagnostic applet even tells me, that it cannot find the JMF classes.
I tried so much, but I've no idea what i can do. Does anybody know?
I can develop the clients using win, but that does not solve my problem, though my boss wants me to run all the serverside software under linux (and i like to use linux too).

Come on, I can't believe that no one here is able to help me.
    What i have now is:
    in my .profile:
    export JMFHOME=/home/brinkop/Programme/JMF-2.2.1e
    export CLASSPATH=$JMFHOME/lib/jmf.jar:$JMFHOME/lib/sound.jar
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$JMFHOME/libif I try to run my Testprogramm (that works fine under win) I get this:
    java -jar JMFTest.jar
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: javax/media/CaptureDeviceManager

            at Geraetefinder.<init>(Geraetefinder.java:31)

java -Xbootclasspath/p:./lib:./lib/jmf.jar:./lib/mediaplayer.jar:./lib/multiplayer.jar -jar JMFTest.jarIt starts without error message. But still does not find any devices. I think it is not able to find the shared librarys. But thy seem to be correct:
    brinkop@FBEC158:~/SoftwareEntwicklung/Arbeitsverzeichnis> echo $LD_LIBRARY_PATH
    /home/brinkop/Programme/JMF-2.2.1e/lib
    brinkop@FBEC158:~/SoftwareEntwicklung/Arbeitsverzeichnis> echo $CLASSPATH

  • Problems with sun studio 12 in suse linux 11

    Hi.
I installed Sun Studio 12 suse linux with no problems. However, the debugging modules (DBX) are not working any more. When I started Sun Studio, it gave a message about modules that could not be loaded in tha moment. I did not pay attention. But I noticed that all debugging options were disabled.
Using the module manager, I saw the DBX module was not checked, and I could not change it. I was marked with a red X. So I thought to reinstall the application. However, the uninstall utility doesn't work either.
According with the documentation, running ./uninstaller does it, but I get the following error message instead
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: uninstall_Sun_Studio_12/class
    Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: uninstall_Sun_Studio_12.class

I tried to uninstall manually, and then execute installer, by using first the software manager in linux and deleting the producregistry file manually. It worked because I executed the installer. However, in Sun Studio IDE, debugging options are still not available despite I "reinstalled" the application. I checked the log files and they say the file uninstall_Sun_Studio_12.class could not be written.
    So my questions are:
    1. Is there any other way to repair Sun Studio? What could be the possible for this module to stop working?
    2. Does anyone have an idea of why the installer cannot write the uninstaller class?
I found that perhaps problems regarding Java / Netbeans versions could be the problem, but the ones I have installed are those packages that were installed along with Sun Studio, and both are valid.
    Thank you very much.

Perhaps you can simply delete the Sun Studio 12 installation tree, because it will not work on SUSE Linux 11.
This OS is not supported, so any problems you see with SS12 on SUSE 11 will not be fixed.
But we have a newer version, that should work better.
You can try to download and install Sun Studio Express 2008/11 (extract pre-installed image from tar.bz2 file).
Here is a pointer to the web page:
    http://developers.sun.com/sunstudio/downloads/express
All you need is to provide a email address, and press "Download Now" button.
You will see a page, that gives you 2 options to download Sun Studio Express 2008/11.
Use "Option 2": Download Tarfile Installer
    Thanks,
    Nik

  • Unable to install Oracle Developer Suite 10 on SuSe Linux 11.0

    Hi all,
I have installed Oracle 11g on SuSe Linux 11.0 with no issues. I am unable to install Oracle Developer Suite10.12.02 on same (SuSe 11.0). The installation gets to about 94% and then fails with the following error:
    /usr/lib/libXtst.so.6: undefined reference to `__stack_chk_fail@GLIBC_2.4'
    /usr/lib/libXtst.so.6: undefined reference to `__fprintf_chk@GLIBC_2.3.4'
    /usr/lib/libXtst.so.6: undefined reference to `__sprintf_chk@GLIBC_2.3.4'

The only serious flaw I can see in the config is that I'm using libstd++ 4.3 instead of the requested 3.2.2 which 'should' be acceptable as it's a newer version - can anyone help please? Thanks in advance for any helpful advice anyone can offer.

ps. What's also a bit odd, is that the overall exit status of the installation is regarded as succesful...

    Hi Hub,
    Done that, nothing:
    $> env | grep -i LD

On the off-chance that it had something to do with installing Oracle 11.0 with ODS Developer 10.0, I've rolled my database installation back too, so now I have:
    Oracle 10.2.01
Oracle Developer Suite 10i (ODS 10.12.02)
    SuSe 11.0
Now when I runInstaller I get this, which is surprisingly similar:
