Installing an Image server in a DMZ

Hello,
I'm planning to deploy an ALUI installation inside a secured plaform. As I read in the deployment guide [url http://edocs.bea.com/alui/deployment/docs604/networking/c_security.html#wp1075964], I must install the portal and the image server in a DMZ. In this guide, another image server can be placed within the internal network to avoid traffic accross the firewall.
What is the reason ? As far as I know, Collaboration or Publisher use only the image server address in order to make an URL pointing to this (for example for the notification email).
Is the some components which need to access directly to the image server, like reading an image from this ?
Thx

My question is : why another image server can be installed within the internal network ?
I have already an imageserver within the DMZ to serve users, what is the goal of the internal imageserver, hosted in the same network as the other ALI components ?

  • Installing Sun Messaging Server on DMZ Architecture

    Hello,
we want to install Sun Messaging Server in a DMZ Architecture and I need know if it is possible to install the Messaging Server on the private network to protect data and users, and a pop agent on the DMZ which allows the public to access to mail accounts.
For this I want to know how to install Sun Messaging Server, so I install two instances of Messaging Server over the DMZ and the other on Private, and then what there components that need be configured in each side (Store, SMTP in Private and POP in DMZ).
Finally Thank you for your understanding.
    Good works.

There is an example here:
    http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/819-4439/acrqg?a=view
In your case Tier 2 would be inside the DMZ (private network) and Tier 1 outside the DMZ (public network).

Store + MTA goes on the public network.

  • Server in the DMZ

    Hi,
i want to install a new server in our DMZ that hosts iChat, a mail relay, Mobile Access and push. To get this up an running, I also need to connect the server to our Open Directory (for User Authentication). The Open Directory Servers are placed in the normal company Network.
On the firewall I opened all ports that are required for OD-Traffic (LDAP, LDAPS, KERBEROS, etc.) but I don't want to open AFP for some security reasons. I figured out that this makes the server unstable and slow, because he can't connect to the automounts (User, Library and Group shares).
Is there a way to tell the server not to mount the automounts from the active directory?
    Thanks a lot!
    Andre

    Sputnik,
Interesting, I am embarking on the exact same thing in fact. I don't have an answer for you as I'm just installing the OS now, but why the heck would AFP be required for simple Open Directory auth between Mobile Access Server and origin server(s) behind it? Makes no sense at all, and I will be wicked ****** if that is indeed the case. What makes you think AFP is the problem?
Let's compare notes, as I'm a bit new to the Leopard server game, but have read much on Mobile Server and how this is supposed to work. My plan is to place the Mobile Access Server in the DMZ, maybe run push on it, and reverse proxy just web, address book, etc. etc. back through the firewall to the origin server.
By the way, the iChat server you mention hosting in the DMZ...interesting thought there. Would the idea be that remote external users half way around the world could use the chat server and stay in touch? Sorry for the naive question, but my thought was how would they authenticate if they are not in OD? Or do they have to be for this to work with iChat server?
    Feedback appreciated. Cheers!

  • Cannot connect to imaging server after ZDML SP1 IR3 install

OK, here's a bit of an odd problem... well, actually, I hope it's an insanely easy problem that I just have overlooked a simple solution for. I guess that's for you guys to help figure out. ;)
We had been running Zenworks 7.0.1.0 on an OES1 Linux server with a few odd problems, mostly with remote management and inventory, but we never had a problem with connecting to it for imaging purposes (at least not since I took over management of the box not that long ago). Considering the remote management and inventory issues, I decided to update it to the latest version just to make sure it wasn't an issue that had already been fixed, but now that I have done that we can no longer connect to the imaging server for imaging. While I'd still like to get our original problems fixed, I'm more concerned about the imaging itself and can then revisit the first.
How I went about the upgrade: I followed the instructions at section 4.3 at ZENworks 7 Desktop Management with Support Pack 1 Interim Release 3a. Running ZDMstart shows "done" for bringing everything up, but when I try "/etc/init.d/novell-zmgserv status" it tells me that the Daemon is stopped; when I try "/etc/init.d/novell-zmgserv start" it says "failed".
When that failed, I downloaded the ZEN7_with_SP1_IR2_DesktopMgmtLinux.iso and ran that installation, then went through the steps on 4.2 to upgrade. (OK, this particular maneuver may not have been my smartest.) Same end results though.
I do recognize that I'm walking into a situation I didn't set up and there were other problems to start with. I have a feeling by the end of the year we'll be migrating to an OES2 server but, to be blunt, that project has been put off for other reasons here and again and I'd like to have something to work with in the meantime. Any idea where exactly the failed attempts would be logged to give me more to work with (I don't see anything in /var/log/messages)? Any other thoughts/suggestions are more than welcome; thanks in advance!
    topher

Apologies in advance for any confusion; normally I post under this account, but the other day was logged in as tchristi2 for other reasons and forgot to log out... :/ In any case....
I tried uninstalling and re-installing ZENworks from the 7.1HP2 CD, and tailing the /var/log/messages file this line jumped out at me:
Sep 2 09:07:19 oes1 logger: We were unable to locate ndsmodules.conf at /usr/lib or at /usr/lib/nds-modules. ZENworks Imaging was not installed correctly.
I cannot find ndsmodules.conf in either of those locations; could someone help me figure out where it would be or why I might not have it? I may just punt and setup an OES2 box and move ZENworks to it, but at the same time I'd like to have imaging running until we do get that box up and going. Thanks in advance!

How do I install Quicktime Streaming Server?
    Thanks
    Mac mini G4   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

The Apple-supported QuickTime Streaming Server only comes with Mac OS X Server. What you need it QTSS's open-source twin Darwin Streaming Server. Download that, open the disk image, and just double-click on the package file to install.

I want to install Snow Leopard Server on our MacPro(2.66) using Mac Mini Snow Leopard Server disks?  I kept getting an error for backwards compatibility.   Is this possible or do I need topurchase another copy of Snow Leopard Server?

The OS disks that are shipped with a particular product
are set up so that tey will only install on that product.
It will install on any Mini of that exact vintage, but that
    is all.
This is to prevent people from doing exactly what you
are trying to do.  The license for OSX shipped with any
is only valid for that product.  Also, Snow Leopard,
including Server, is only permitted to be run on one
computer at a time.  Bottom line, unlike Lion, legally
you cannot install the same copy on multiple
computers unless some "family pack" or site license
    is purchased.
Yes, you need to purchase another copy.
The copy of Snow Leopard license is here:

  • How to install Oracle imaging & process management in windows xp prof

    Hi All
I am trying to install oracle Imaging & Process management in windows XP. Please let me know whether it is possible in windows XP or not... which I couldn't able to install in XP. when I saw the Install doc, it mentioned it is possible in windows server 2003. Installation guide mentioned that we have to setup 6 or 7 different server setups.
    or
If any one have I/PM installation steps for windows server 2003 Please provide the steps.
Any input would be greatly appreciable.
    regards
    Vijay

    Vijay,
IPM is not certified to be installed on Windows XP (as for IPM services).
It is possible to install IPM on one server machine (or two, if you need Web). First, you have to decide, which services you have to install.
    regards

  • Should I install Apache Web server to use Jakarta Tomcat Servlet engine?

    Hello,
I have some problems and now have a question:
Should I install Apache Web server to use Jakarta Tomcat Servlet engine?
JTK home page is available via http://localhost:8080
    Tomcat ver 3.1.3
    Thanks.

No, you don't need to run Apache webserver (httpd) to run Tomcat. Tomcat by default runs on port 8080, but you can set it to any port, including 80, if you have permission to do so (on *nix systems, you need root permissions to run services on any port below 1024).
Tomcat is a webserver as well, just one that includes a servlet container and JSP processor. So it will serve your html files, images, etc (aka static content), just as well as Apache httpd, in addition to being able to run servlets and JSPs.
Apache httpd has more options for serving static content than Tomcat, so many people prefer to use it as their main webserver and only use Tomcat as a sort of "plugin" to handle servlets and JSPs. This can be achieved through a connector. Instructions on how to set this up are on the Jakarta website.
So you could use Apache and Tomcat combined, next to each other, or totally separated. In many cases, just Tomcat will do.

  • SOLVED: 4.0 issue: When installing -virtual or -server packages, -generic is also installed

    Hi all.
I am trying to install the new -server and -virtual packages on my machines (all running Ubuntu 8.04.2)
This worked fine on 3.5u2-u4, but now the installation seems also to depend on the generic kernel.
How can I get around this? I only want the -virtual package installed on some servers.

Huh, this is very strange behavior from apt. Apparently the order of the packages matters to the package manager.
When you switch the packages on the command line, and use this command:
    aptitude install vmware-open-vm-tools-kmod-server vmware-tools-nox
    instead of this one:
    aptitude install vmware-tools-nox vmware-open-vm-tools-kmod-server
you get the desired result, no generic kernel and no generic vmware packages:
    root@server:~# aptitude install vmware-open-vm-tools-kmod-server vmware-tools-nox

  • How to install Windows Foundation Server 2012 R2

The following iso from MSDN Downloads only gives an option to install the Storage Server, how do you install Foundation Server from this iso?
    en_windows_storage_server_2012_r2_and_windows_server_2012_r2_foundation_with_update_x64_dvd_4119206.iso
    Thanks! JP

True the only way to buy Foundation Server is pre-installed by an OEM.  However as a MSDN developer who needs to test software functionality on Foundation Server there must be a way to install it from the MSDN image.  I was hoping it was like the
other server installs where depending on which key you gave the installer it would install the corresponding version (ie. Standard or Enterprise)  But the install on the en_windows_storage_server_2012_r2_and_windows_server_2012_r2_foundation_with_update_x64_dvd_4119206.iso
    will only accept a
storage server key and will not accept a foundation server key.

    Gurus,
If I am not wrong, the Oracle VM Server 2.2.0 installer for 32-bit and 64-bit are the same file.
I have AMD 64 bit machine, when I install Oracle VM Server 2.2.0, it installs as 64-bit.
However due to requirement, I want to install Oracle VM Server in 32-bit mode.
    Will appreciate the steps.
    Regards,
    Krishna

    Krishna,
Please note that the zip file from the Oracle eDelivery/Linux site contains a single Oracle VM server ISO file; this file is used for both x86 and x86-64 hardware. The Oracle VM server install routine automatically detects the hardware platform and installs the appropriate 32-bit or 64-bit Xen hypervisor. Regardless of the hardware platform, 32-bit or 64-bit, dom0 is 32-bit. Will a 32bit dom0 meet your business requirements?
Could you please let us know the business requirements re 32bit?
For details about the installation, sizing and server resource requirements please review http://itnewscast.com/chapter-4-oracle-vm-server-sizing-installation-and-updates
