Installing java on my new vista(this)

Hi
When i got this new computer (with vista) i installed java sdk.
I know java programming, i used to create some simple games on my old computer.
But when i try to compile something using javac in Command promt i get the error Javac is not recognized or something.
I had this on my XP too but i added a line to Autoexec.bat and it worked.
Now, i have tried to edit Autoexec, no succses.
Tried to set environment variables, no succses.
Any guesses?
Maybe its my antivirus Norton 360 that blocks me from changing in Autoexec?
Please if anyone have done this on vista respond with some few steps on how to do this.
I really want to program java on my vista without having to type the hole path to Javac when i want to compile.
Thanks in advance.
JavaGuy

But when i try to compile something using javac in Command promt i get the error Javac is not recognized or something.you need to set the PATH environment variable
I had this on my XP too but i added a line to Autoexec.bat and it worked. whoah! that brings back some memories
did MS go back to autoexec.bat?
i think we stopped using that around 8-10 years ago :)

  • Can't install iTunes on my new Vista-PC

I bought my Dell Notebook 2 months ago. It's with Vista Home Premium (no upgrade from XP, Vista installed from the beginning) and runs fine so far. But I've got no chance installing iTunes - seems to be simply impossible (it tells something of "VisualBasicScript is not installed" - which is probably not the problem...). Now as I saw in some discussion groups, some think that there's a problem with Vista/McAfee/iTunes. But others say there's none. Now my question:
    - is there anyone whith a similar system who had and solved this annoying problem?
    - or are there any other ideas beside of "wait until Apple publishes a new version of iTunes" (of which probably no one knows when this should happen)?

I know nothing about Vista but I hope this helps you.

  • Installing Java on a Windows Vista 64 bit OS - amd64 Turion X2

I do hope there is someone who has solved this issue. Spent several hours and multiple loads to no avail. Currently using a HP laptop with Windows 64 bit OS running. The processor is a AMD64 Tution X2. Java loads but no entry in Internet Options advanced settings or an icon in the Control Panel. When I execute the application which requires Java nothing happens.
I am at a loss of what to do next.
    userlm

I realize this is an old post so this may no longer have any relavance.
Make sure you have downloaded and installed the 64 bit version. The 32 bit will install on the 64 bit machine and will not appear in the standard control panel. If you look at your control panel, look to the bottom of the list for the icon labeled "View 32-bit Control Panel". If you installed the 32 bit version, the java instance will be there.
You can install both the 32 and 64 bit versions on the same machine. Remember most installs to a 64 bit machine will put DLL's and the like into the system32 folder for 64 bit apps and into the syswow64 folder for 32 bit apps.
    Best regards,
    Bob

  • Installed iTunes on new Vista 'puter now won't reconize iPod Touch

I installed iTunes on my new Vista 'puter and it wont reconize my iPod Touch, it does reconize my 3rd, 5th and clasic iPods but not the touch. it is reconized by windows but not iTunes

After searching the internet for hours, due to having the same problem I finally found a solution
    1) plug in the ipod and go to START then RUN and type in devmgmt.msc
    2) the device manager should come up, then go to imaging devices(Has that sort of name i dont remember its exact name) and hit the plus and it should say Apple Ipod.
    3) Right click and select Update drivers.
4)Select "Update from a specific location" and then hit browse
    5) then select C\program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support
    6) hit ok and it should have worked.
    thank to Abnormality
    I hope this help,

  • Java installer in Windows Vista: error 1721

    Hi,
I cant install java SE in Windows Vista. I get always this error:
error 1721. There is a probleme with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.
Anyone knows how I can solve it? I tryed with other java versions but I get the same error.
    Thanks in advance.

If all else fails, your Vista could just be screwy.
If you're willing to go that far, and you've exhausted all other options, you could try reformatting and reinstalling Vista. (Or even XP, since it's way more stable. :D)
At any rate, this doesn't seem to be the file's problem, as plenty of people have gotten it working.
Have you installed any ... "distasteful" software on your computer, or tweaked stuff like a hardcore techie? Because it's quite easy to screw with Windows. :)

  • How to install Java for MacBook Air?

I have tried to install Java on my new macbook air and the installation is successfull, however when I try to access an internet site that requires Java to open it doe snot work. Any suggestions?

The new Macbook Air that I am typing this on has Java already installed. You should not have had to install it. Typing "java -version" at the command line in a terminal shows that it is version 1.6.0_26
What browser were you using to access the web site? Safari?
Have you checked that you have Java and Javascript enabled in your browser? (Go to the Security tab in Safari->Preferences)

  • Help Mac user help new Vista user - install itunes or not?

    Hi,
My friend has a new Vista PC and he's not a skilled user. I'm a Mac person myself. He's having tons of trouble with it and I live 2000 miles away. I'm here on a visit and have been helping him get Flash player and Yahoo IM etc installed.
Is iTunes a simple, painless, installation or does it require troubleshooting? If the latter, then we won't even try. Too little time for anything but install-and-play.
Your advice will be much appreciated.

Our luck will be problems out the wazoo. His PC is brand new and shiny, but working with it is like trying to do eye surgery on yourself without instruments or anesthesia: painful.
Maybe we'll postpone this until I buy him a Macbook later this year.

Thanks for the link. It's downloading the standalone installer now.
Still need someone to chime in if QT will install without problems on the Vista PC. This bit (with my emphasis) from Apple at the download page isn't encouraging.

  • HT5945 java wont install on a brand new mac.

This is a brand new mac and there do not appear to be any previous versions of java installed. When I download Java 7 from oracle
    as per the instructions here:
    http://www.java.com/en/download/help/mac_install.xml
    downloaded from here:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/java-archive-downloads-j avase7-521261.html#jdk-7u45-oth-JPR
No joy. it just stops working on the install step. (no errors, it just doesn't respond).
I've tried installing this which also doesn't work (exact same result - does not respond on the install step):
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1572
on all the other support tickets regarding problems installing java, the above two resources were repeatedly referred to, but they do not work for a new mac with mavericks installed and no previous version of java.
    Please help.

    mdmfolsom,
the 7u45 version of Java is not the latest version. At this writing, 7u51 is the latest version. To download the 7u51 Java Runtime Environment (“JRE”), go here. To download the 7u51 Java Development Kit (“JDK”), go here.

  • Bought new Audigy SE, unable to install new Vista Driv

I just bought and installed a new Audigy SE, immediatelly after turn on the computer via Windows Update download and installed the drivers and that worked fine with playback but the mic sounds in very low, I even tried to manually edit the mic boost registry but still the mic is practically useless. These are the drivers:?[img"]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v385/javiersf/AudigyDrivers.jpg">?Another trouble: At the same time Windows Updated downloaded the Audigy Vista, I downloaded the new Audigy drivers for Vista posted on June 25th, but when I try to install them I receive this error message:[img"]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v385/javiersf/ErrorVistaDrivers.jpg">?I even restored my system just before the windows update driver was downloaded and installed but?still I receive this error. I tried to manually delete the drivers, uninstall the audio card and the restore it, but still I am getting this error and I'd like to take advantage of this driver and software to see if that will fix the problem with the low power mic.

@javiersf; if I were you, I would give back that soundcard back and wait further for some support from Creative. 'cos , there is not a good support for Audigy users, especially for "LS/SE/Value" users; I don't recommend that card to anyone.
BTW, there is not a driver for Mic Boost, since the first Vista driver released. You should find an alternati've way (like using mic from Onboard sound card) or you have to use your mic like it's now.

  • New Vista PC - what are steps to install/move iTunes fm old XP system?

I expect delivery of a new PC tomorrow and am clueless as to what I need to do to set up iTunes on the new Vista PC and move my music over.
I have an iPhone and an iPod mini, am running iTunes 8.0.0.35 and I think my iPhone software is current. I do a flash drive with enough capacity to hold all my music files.
But I digress - what I'm looking for first is the big picture - do I start from scratch and install iTunes from CD as if for the first time? Anybody have an overall step by step process as to what I actually need to do?

Thank you Neil, is there anything I need to do with my iPhone or old PC before beginning this (like any settings I need to check)? I have simply copied the Music Library to the Flash Drive at this point. I have upgraded both iTunes and my iPhone to the most current software.
Since I have only one monitor, I will be doing this one step at a time.

Well, here's what I found out that works for me...
I had a Pages icon on my dock, and launching it brought up version 4.3.  But I went to my Apps folder and found the new updated icon there and when I launced that it brought up version 5.01.  So apparently the Apple update process left two versions launchable on my iMac.  Weird...
