Installing MIDlets on a mobile device

I have a J2ME MIDlet that I want to download to a mobile phone.
I have created a JAR file and a JAD file. When I run the JAR file from my computer ( with the command: midp -classpath . Xdescriptor sso.jad ) everything works fine. But when I upload the JAD and JAR to my webserver, and run "midp -transient http://byfuglien.net/sso.jad" i get this error:
Error installing suite (40): Either the configuration or profile is not supported.
Does anybody have any idea what is wrong?

No, but maybe someone in the J2ME forum would know.

  • VERY URGENT!!transferring a midlet to a mobile device and other questions

    PLEASE HELP!!
    hi
i would like to know the following details regarding
    J2ME:
    1. What is the size of a KVM(Kilobyte Virtual Machine)?
    2. What would be approximately the memory size
    of a mobile phone?
    3. How do i transfer my midlet application developed
with the help of a J2ME tool kit to a mobile device?
    4. Should the device to which i am transferring
be MIDP compliant alone i.e as of now
i can transfer my midlet application only
to an MIDP compliant mobile device?Or rather
    what are the in-built features/softwares/specification
a mobile device should have before i transfer
a midlet to a mobile device??
    5.Suppose i have written midlets...and put them
in .jad and .jar files(midlet suite has been created).
Now suppose i have to download it to my
mobile phone, how do i do it?
And if other people have to download it to
thier mobile device...i need to put it on the web-site
right? How do actually put my midlet to a web-site?
Are there any steps involved for all that?
6.Will the mobile device have ENOUGH MEMORY
for executing the midlet which i have created
considering the memory constraints of a mobile
device. Also the fact that the KVM also
would take up a lot of space though it is measured
    in kilobytes

1 and 2 i do not know right now.
You can transfer MIDlets to J2ME compatible devices only ,atleast for now. To do this , you must use a serial cable and download it directly to your cell phone or pager.
The CLDC has been designed to suit applications that run low on memory ( from 160 kb to 512 kb)
    good luck

  • HT1926 I'm attempting to reinstall ITunes because of a runtime error (R6034) when I start it. At end of install it says 'Apple Mobile Device' failed to start.  I verified that I have admin privileges.  Can anyone help?

I'm attempting to reinstall ITunes because of a runtime error (R6034) when I start it. At end of install it says 'Apple Mobile Device' failed to start.  I verified that I have admin privileges.  Can anyone help?

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

  • How do I re-install the apple USB mobile device driver once it has been deleted?

    Hi,
I was having issues getting my Itunes to recognize my Iphone 4s so I followed the apple support instructions here: iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows and it said to delete the driver software (Step 2 of Reinstall the Apple Mobile Device Driver). After I did that I have been unable to get any of the steps that follow to work. Is there any place that I can download the Apple mobile device USB Driver software? I have tried numerous things including re-installing Itunes multiple times but this does not appear to reinstall the driver software. Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Brian

    Try these steps:
In the Device Manager window, right-click "Universal Serial Bus controllers" and choose "Scan for hardware changes" from the shortcut menu.
Locate the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver in this list. If the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is not listed, continue to step 3.
Expand all the sections labeled below (not all sections may be listed):
    Imaging Devices
    Other Devices
    Portable Devices
    Universal Serial Bus Controllers
Look for the entry that recognizes the device as a camera. This entry should be called Apple iPhone, Apple iPad, Apple iPod, or Unknown Device. (Verify the Unknown Device is the Apple Device by unplugging the device and scan for hardware changes again [Step 1] to see if it disappears.)
Right-click the Apple iPhone, Apple iPad, Apple iPod, or Unknown Device entry in Device Manager and choose Update Driver from the shortcut menu. (Verify the Unknown Device is the Apple Device by unplugging the device and scan for hardware changes again to see if it disappears.)
Click "Browse my computer for driver software."
Click "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer."
Click the Have Disk button. (If the Have Disk option is not present, choose a device category such as Mobile Phone or Storage Device if listed, and click next. The Have Disk button should then appear.)
In the "Install from Disk" dialog, click the Browse button.
Use this window to navigate to the following folder:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers.
Double-click the "usbaapl" file. (This file will be called "usbaapl64" if you have a 64-bit version of Windows. If you don't see "usbaapl64" here, or if there is no Drivers folder, look in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers. instead).
Click OK in the "Install from Disk" dialog.
Click Next and finish the driver-installation steps. Open iTunes to verify that the device is recognized properly.

  • Can't install new itunes and mobile device support keeps crashing

a while ago, i tried getting new quicktime, but my computer crashed in the middle of the updating (also a problem- anyone know why it keeps lagging, freezing, and crashing on me?). i ignored it, and plugged in my ipod a few days later. itunes wouldn't pop up, and when i clicked the icon, i got a popup saying "itunes not found, please reinstall" or something along those lines.
i tried reinstalling it, but it gets stuck at "copying new files". i also tried getting the new quicktime, but it get stuck about 2/3s through it. also, after leaving my computer on for a night to see if it would install, i started getting a popup from microsoft windows saying that "MobileDeviceService has stopped working". if i try to check online for a solution, the popup dissapears after a while, but pops up again in a few seconds. same with if i just close the popup. this popup has also started to appear the second i log on to my computer.
i also tried uninstalling mobile device support (using this), but when it's preparing for installation, my computer freezes and stops working.
tldr: updated to quicktime, but crashed in the middle. now i can't get new itunes or quicktime, and i get popups about apple mobile device support that won't go away. any suggestions?
and my computer started to lag and freeze a lot about a month ago.. i'm not sure why. but it's been very annoying since i have to keep hitting the power button cause the freezing doesn't allow me to do anything. i ran 3 virus scans, and only 1 managed to finish without crashing, and it's telling me that nothing's wrong. i've also uninstalled and deleted a lot of things, but that hasn't helped either.
i have vista, and would really appreciate some help.

    anyone?
*i've managed to download quicktime, but am still unable to download itunes. after reaching a certain point in downloading itunes, (about 1/3 of the way?) it stops at "copying files", and my computer freezes and i have to hold the power button in order to shut it off and do anything, or i get a popup asking me if i want to change something so itunes can finish downloading. i click "yes", but then the download stops completely and i get a message saying "itunes has finished downloading, but with errors" and it tells me to download it again.
a popup from MobileServiceDevice keeps appearing as well, but it won't go away. the details are:
    Problem Event Name:    APPCRASH
      Application Name:    AppleMobileDeviceService.exe
      Application Version:    17.88.0.7
      Application Timestamp:    4e66ceff

      Fault Module Version:    6.0.6002.18005
      Fault Module Timestamp:    49e038c0
      Exception Code:    c06d007f
      Exception Offset:    0001e124
      OS Version:    6.0.6002.2.2.0.768.3
      Locale ID:    1033
      Additional Information 1:    fd00
      Additional Information 2:    ea6f5fe8924aaa756324d57f87834160
      Additional Information 3:    fd00
      Additional Information 4:    ea6f5fe8924aaa756324d57f87834160
but the fault module name changes on me. sometimes it's kernel32.dll, and sometimes it's something else, and i've already tried using task manager /find str but it doesn't help.

    Hi bluebanana 66,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
There are a few reasons why you might receive this message after installing iTunes. You may need to verify that iTunes has been completely removed before trying to install again. See this article for the steps to completely remove and reinstall iTunes:

Hello, I am having trouble re-installing itunes on my PC. error message keep popping up "Apple mobile device failed to start, verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.

The thread mentioned above now has some out of date direct links. This is a more recent version of that post...
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

  • Cannot install itunes AND Apple Mobile Device

Ok so there is a BIG problem, 3 weeks ago, itunes was working perfectly, and then i got a problem and i had to delete itunes and i also deleted Apple Mobile Device and bonjour and quicktime, but when i try to reinstall itunes, i can't, it just skips the installation and i tried to download apple mobile device separately but it wont work too, i just want to put music on my ipod touch (PLEASE HELP) Thanks

Do you have Vista or XP? Do you have permissions to install software on your PC? If your logon is not setup as an administrator, you will not be able to install software.
One last question, did you uninstall the software through the control panel or just delete the folders it was it? If you didn't do a proper uninstall, your registry is likely corrupt and you are going to have to do some repairs.

How are you doing the itunes install, BOSS? Are you using Apple Software Update for Windows, or are you downloading and installing itunes from the following location?

    Hi Hosmer,
If iTunes cannot start the Apple Mobile Device Service, first try the steps in this article:
How to restart the Apple Mobile Device Service (AMDS) on Windows
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1567
If the issue persists, I recommend removing and reinstalling iTunes using this specific method:
    Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
    Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
    Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
    Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.
