Installing Mac OSX Lion has killed Macromedia (Adobe) Freehand 11 – which is otherwise perfectly viable, current graphics software (originally designed for Mac, I thought). I now cannot open valuable files used to create figures for publications, and work 'underway' is dead in the water. Apparently Apple, in their wisdom, have decided to no longer support 'Power PC' software. Any solutions? Work arounds?

At this exact moment in time, yes, Lion is required. There are "rumors" of a 10.6.9 SL release for iCloud, but that type of discussion is not allowed here, so I won't discuss it.
However, your idea, and from the other replies, to run SL on another partition – yes I did backup before installing Lion – sounds like a way forward. I'll try it – thanks!

I have Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 plus I create PDF files for work some are scan pdf docs. When I install Photoshop Elements 10 it DOES convert all the PDF files to Photoshop Elements-10 Docs. it even changes and shows the PSE-10 Icon. So I am alway installing PSE-10 or uninstalling it. If I send the PDF file that has been automatically converted to a PSE-10 the person I send the file to can not open it because they do not have PSE-10. What can I do to stop PSE-10 from converting my PDF files? Don't tell me to upgrade PSE-10 I tried their on-line program and it is too advance for a hobby photographer like myself and their Help Desk is impossible to reach.

resolve my printer problem.
with Yosemite, Apple have upgraded CUPS to 2.0, and CUPS work different. So you need to change one think in configuration.
open terminal, and write the following commands:
sudo sh -c 'echo "Sandboxing Relaxed" >> /etc/cups/cups-files.conf'
you asked for the password for superuser
sudo launchctl stop org.cups.cupsd
after this check in print queue if the printer is ready and not in pause mode.
The printer now should work, if the printer only print in B&W you need to change the configuration in CUPS web interface.
try http://localhost:631/ ; if you receive a error telling the web interface is disabled, type in terminal services the following
cupsctl WebInterface=yes
after this try again http://localhost:631/
after this choose in the web page "Adding Printers and Classes", bellow the CUPS for Administrators title.
in the new page, choose manage printers; after this choose your printer.
in the page of printer choose from the second combobox the option "set default options";
in the option page, change the color mode from monochrome to color, and save hitting the button "set default option", you be asked for a user and password with admin privileges.
After this your print is ok. -

This is a Windows setting. In Windows 7 you can change it through the Control Panel: Either Start>Default Programs or Start>Control Panel>Programs>Default Programs>Set Associations
Find .pdf and change it (click Change Program) from Microsoft Word to Adobe Reader. Browse to find the Reader application if necessary: Program Files>Adobe>Reader11>Reader>AcroRd.exe -
Installing OSX lion has caused my Macpro problems on startup
Since I installed Lion a few days ago I am getting an intermittent blinking of the power button light when I startup. Sometimes it starts up, sometimes it just blinks, and then I hold the power button till the computer turns off. Then when I try to start up again I hold the power button till I hear a long sound and a chime. Then it starts up, but only if I do that process. What could be going on? It hasn't done any of this kind of behavior till I installed Lion. I tried running disc repair and permissions repair from start up on another drive, but it does the same thing when I try to restart in that drive. Also a side question; is a download for lion from the app store only good for one installing on one drive? I tried to load lion on my back up Lacie one terabite drive but it wouldn't install.
Might be coincidence, might be a change in the power-on self test, might be something else entirely (though I don't know what.) I suggest you take the machine to an Apple Store for testing.

Try to disable your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes it work.
You may need to delete the temp folder (%TEMP%) to remove the old files. -
Mountain lion has killed my mac book pro. After downloading and trying to install, I am stuck in a loop of "not enough room to install on this disk" and not being able to access the old disk's data to open up space.
Nope. It just opened the installer and stayed in the same loop.
It tells me to choose a startup disk but the only option is the HD which it will not use because it says it cannot gather enough information.
Eveything was working fine until the mountain lion failed install. -
Help with installing OSX Lion on iMac with broken display

Having some trouble installing OSX Lion on my 5 year old iMac which has a broken display.
The display has been dead for a couple of years now and I've been using an external monitor without any problems. Today I decided to upgrade to Lion - I downloaded the installer from the App Store and started the install which rebooted the machine. After reboot I'm presented with a grey 'thatched' background image on the external display and nothing else, no menu bar, installation menu etc.
I presume the internal display is showing the menu I need but I can't see it as that screen is broken. Is there a way to turn on mirroring during the install process so I can use my external display? I've tried various shortcuts held down during startup - OPTION-F14, CMD-F1, CMD-F2 - but none have worked.
If this isn't possible, is there a way to abort the Lion install process and go back to using my Snow Leopard install? Whenever I boot the machine I am taken to the OS X Lion installer and don't know how to get back to my Snow Leopard install. I tried holding down OPTION key on startup to choose the list of available OS installs, but again, the internal display is being used so I can't see what to do.

I have in the last few days decided to install OSX Lion for my iMac. Now I'm having a consistent issue with Safari (and Firefox) hanging up - I have to keep re-starting my iMac - anyone else experienced this problem? Anyone with a possible solution?

GarryCheck whether there is a crash report:
Go to your Applications Folder and open your Utilities Folder. Open the application Console.
In the left-hand column, click on Crash Reporter.
Click on the small triangle under Crash Reporter in the l/h column and they will all be listed.
Scroll down to the latest Safari report and click on it.
Now click on the r/h column (which now only shows THAT crash report and then Command-a to copy it all.
Come back here and Command-v it to post it here! -
Now that I have installed OSX Lion, my flash player won't work.
After I installed OSX Lion a few days ago my flash player suddenly stopped working. It won't let me update (it says I have the newest version) and when say, I try to watch a YouTube video a little box comes up over the player with settings and the "allow" button but no matter if I use the trackpad or the keyboard I can't select anything.
It's getting really annoying because I can't play games, watch videos or video share online anymore and I have no idea how to fix it.
Is it just something that will be stuck until Adobe releases a version that isn't beta for OSX 10.7?This allows me to watch videos which is great but still when I try to play any flash games or enable a webcam on something other than iChat, Skype or Photobooth the dialog box comes up and even using tab and space bar like Adobe suggests doesn't seem to work. :-/

I insertet a OSX-Lion disk and startet the installation. after a few minutes a pop-up opened: the installation has filed please try again. this came after delete the harddrive and the new harddrive. but what can i do? Or can my give anyone a new OSX DVD-Image ? with i can try it?
