Installing SCCM 2007 on Windows 7.

This question is in regards to the actual services and manager, not an administration console or the client that is deployed to a Windows 7 PC.
Can SCCM 2007 be installed on the Windows 7 Operating System that is running on a server, rather than the usual Server 2008?
Due to OS constraints at my work location, and the desire for SCCM experience in the workplace, we are inquiring whether it is possible.
Another question is can Hyper-V be installed on Windows 7?  Therefore allowing for a virtual server to be present for the SCCM server installation.

This is why i'm asking, i'm sure there is someone out there that has tried to do this.  I'm working within the boundaries of what I have and can do with these things.  Have Windows 7 installed on a Dell Power Edge 2900 in our Lab Environment,
before the effort is put into the attempt of the installation, i decided it best to find out from many of the microsoft professionals across this site, if it would be possible.  And at least get pointed in the right direction, as to where this information
maybe found to help me solve my dilemma.
Thank you, Evan

  • Can I install office 2007 on windows 8.1 64 bit

I have an office 2007 which is currently installed on a machine running Office XP (SP3) 32 bit system and it is working fine.
I guess that makes the office a 32 bit version.
Now i have changed to a new laptop with pre-installed win 8.1 64 bit version.
I was wondering if i will be able to use the office 2007 on this machine now.
    Please provide some guidance.

    Hi
Yes you are able to install office 2007 on windows 8.1, one of my colleagues is running it just fine.
Hope this helps. Please remember to click “Mark as Answer” on the post that helps you, and to click “Unmark as Answer” if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread.

  • Unable to install SCCM client on Windows Server 2008 R2 - certificate permission error?

I am trying to comply with corporate policy, which is, have an SCCM agent or client on every Windows device. I have successfully used the provided SCCM installer on other Windows 2008 R2 servers. However for one particular server I cannot get the SCCM agent
to install successfully. I've searched forums and documentation, but can't find a solution. Part of the problem is the lack of feedback by SCCM on what is wrong. I think I have narrowed down the symptom to the following error messages from the "C:\Windows\CCM\Logs\ClientIDManagerStartup.log":
[LOG[Certificate [Thumbprint C559304C1598F17641D0732EB9EB787169A25FA7] issued to 'SMS' doesn't have private key or caller doesn't have access to private key.
    [LOG[Failed in GetCertificate(...): 0x87d00281]LOG]!><time="10:56:59.014+300" date="04-17-2014" component="ClientIDManagerStartup" context="" type="3" thread="3024" file="ccmcert.cpp:2122">
    [LOG[CCMCreateAuthHeaders failed (0x8009200b).]LOG]!><time="10:56:59.014+300" date="04-17-2014" component="ClientIDManagerStartup" context="" type="3" thread="3024" file="clientauthutil.cpp:978">
When I use the Certificates MMC snap in to look at installed certs on this Windows Server 2008 R2 machine, there are plenty of normal and expected certificates there. There is also a branch called SMS with hundreds of entries, I have no idea what that is.
The above error seems to indicate a permissions issue. What do I do to fix this SCCM install? It seems like a server cert issue, not an SCCM issue, so I'm posting to the Windows Server forums.
    Thanks in advance.

  • SCCM 2007 OSD - Windows XP to Windows 7 migration - Automatically install user applications

Hi all. I have been searching for this subject but haven't figured out the right search terms yet...what I want to do is:
We are doing an "in-place-upgrade" of all of our WinXP machines to Win7. It is really an "OS Refresh" process I guess. What I can't figure out is how to get SCCM to automatically install the extra user applications into Windows 7 after
    XP has been replaced.
So for example, ComputerA has WinXP, our company standard base applications, and Acrobat Pro installed. I can deploy our "gold Win7 image" with SCCM, which includes the Win7 OS, and our company standard base applications. But how do I get SCCM
to recognize that Acrobat Pro was installed in XP, and to automatically install it after the Win7 install is complete? I just can't wrap my head around it.
The only way I could think of was to have a step at the beginning of my TS that audits the WinXP OS for installed applications before the HDD is wiped. For every application this step detects, it sets a TS Variable (ie: AcrobatInstalled=True). Then I have
to add a step for every possible application to the end of my TS that checks for the TS Variable, and installs the application if =True.
Is there an easier/better way? Is this something USMT or MDT can do (we have never used either)? thanks again for any help provided!

Wow thanks Jason, that is exactly what I was looking for, I just could not get the right Google search terms.
It does look like a lot of work to setup, but may be worth it. Out of curiosity, is this what you personally actually do for a large XP to Win7 migration for your clients? Or do you manually inventory your XP machines before the Win 7 install, and then manually
push the appropriate software after Win7 is installed?
We have been doing the second option for years on XP to XP refreshes, but human error during the manual inventory or manual push steps causes some inconvenience to our users. The completely automatic option would probably help, but appears to be much work
to setup and maintain. It also does not account for applications that are "installed" but do not appear in Add/Remove programs (ie: SQLDeveloper, etc).
But thanks so much for your help (again)!

  • How could I install outlook with business contact manager 2007 in windows 8.1 system?

Recently I got a new 8 win pc, then I tried to instal Outlook with business contact manager 2007 but I couldn´t
The reason: sql server is not compatible. Would you please let me know how to fix that problem?

    Hi CarlosZC,
Since the issue regards Outlook with business contact manager 2007. I suggestion you post the question in the Outlook forums at
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/outlook?tab=question&status=all&auth=1. It is appropriate and more experts will assist you.
According to your description, we need to verify the version of the SQL Server, usually the warning of compatibility issues applies to all SQL Server Express editions when installing Business Contact Manager (BCM) 2007 on Windows 7/8. The incompatibility
was fixed in SQL Server 2008 Service Pack1 and SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 3 on Windows 7.
There is a similar issue about compatibility message when installing BCM 2007 on Windows 7, you can review the following article.

  • SCCM 2007: update fails, client cannot download

    Hi,
I have a specific update on SCCM 2007 for Windows 7 clients which clients don't seem to be able to download. It starts the install but fails directly (cannot download).Should I remove this update and redownload? Just right click and "download software
update" or really delete it? If deletion is necessary, how can I retrieve this upate then?
    How then?
    J.
    Jan Hoedt

1 patch took to long to install and that made installation think it failed. It was a non critical patch that solved the issue (we don't install non-critical patches normally that's why we did not notice)

I am planning to upgrade to AD windows 2012 R2 from 2008 in 2003 on funtional level for domain and forrest, my question is, is 2007 exchange (Version build: 08.03.0245.001) supported on 2012 R2 domain environment on 2008 funtional level?
I am planning to upgrade exchange later in december to exchange 2013 but not now.
    Thanks in advance

    Hello,
At present, there is no official article to verify whether exchange 2007 is supported on windows server 2012 R2 domain.
But I agree with damird's suggestion.
And you don't install exchange 2007 on windows server 2012 r2.

  • SCCM 2012 Client Communication Issue with SCCM 2007

My Clients was installed SCCM 2007 client version but somehow those clients reporting to SCCM 2012 Server
Note : My SCCM 2007 Server still active mode . and the SCCM 2007 client IP boundaries was not added into SCCM 2012 server
But still communicating to SCCM 2012 , what is the root cause ?
    Best Regard's Krishna

Either, during the client installation the client was manually assigned to the ConfigMgr 2012 site (by specifying the site code), or during the client installation the client was auto assigned to the ConfigMgr 2012 site (that can only happen when there
is an overlap in the boundaries and that doesn't have to be the same type of boundary).

    Oguzhan,
From what I understand CRM 2007 is a 64-bit only application.  Please review http://service.sap.com/pam for more details.

  • MOSS 2007 on Windows 7 32 Bit

    Hi friends,
Being a novice in respect of SharePoint, having Windows 7 (32-Bit) installed, want to know if MOSS 2007 (the only 32 Bit compatible version available) can be installed on my Operating system? If not, any workaround?

    Hi,
It is not supported to install SharePoint 2007 on Windows 7 . But there are some blogs for your reference:

  • Can I go to SCCM 2007 after deploying SCCM 2012?

About a month ago I deployed SCCM 2012 in my Lab environment.
The testing I conduct supports a Security Engineering team.
    I’m running 100 servers, 2003 & 2008 R2, and 40 XP and Win7 Clients (most Win7).
After a month of troubleshooting it still will not function correctly.
30% of the clients show failed Client Health status, I can’t get the system to auto install via GPO, and of the simple MS updates I’ve pushed, only about 20% clients work.
I’ve had a ticket with MS open for over a month now on the Client install piece but they have largely ignored me.
It’s been two weeks since I spoke with a MS tech, and that was after requesting the case be elevated.
After bouncing a few emails back and forth the Tier II Tech has never called me during my work Hrs.
    8-5 EST.
Is it possible to install SCCM 2007 once you have expanded the Schema to install SCCM 2012?
Absent that I’ll be forced to scrap SCCM and go with WSUS for updates for the short run.
This issue is starting to really impact production issues and has to get either solved or bypassed.
    Regards,
    Bryan

I'd recommend that you run the Schema Expansion tool that comes with Configuration Manager 2007.
The reason being is that 2012 has done away with the SLP, meaning that this may or may not be included in it's version of the schema extensions. However, Configuration Manager 2012 does not have anything 'new' in its schema expansion, so you can safely 'downgrade'
to 2007, but as I said, run the 2007 schema extension tool just in case the SLP attributes are not included in the 2012 schema expansion.
I am more curious as to the problems you're experiencing with 2012 though, if your having problems with 2012 I don't see how reverting to 2007 will resolve the problems?
