Installing Solaris 8, 9, 10 on less than one year hardware

Hello.
I have Solaris 11 installed, but for experience on older Solaris 8, 9 and 10, any advice on how to install them on my less than one year x86 hardware ?
Any clues or pointers.

Well, you can always install VirtualBox and then install Solaris 10 (update 8 or later) in a Virtual Machine..

Device had been purchased in Hong Kong less than one year ago. May I get warranty service in London? Actually i have problem of "Error 23" and didn't succeed to solve it.

Warranty and support for the iPhone are provided only in the country in which the iPhone was officially sold. To get service for an iPhone purchased in Hong Kong, you'll have to take the iPhone back to HK or send it to someone you know there who can get it serviced and then ship it back to you.

  • My iMac is less than one year old.  Without warning, the screen suddenly goes black.  It used to happen occasionally, but is now happening all the time without warning.  What is Apple doing to correct the problem?

My iMac is less than one year old. Without warning, the screen suddenly goes black.  It used to happen ocasionally, but now it happens all the time.  Numerous people have posted about this issue. Why hasn't Apple solved the issue.  For what I paid my computer, I expected more from the product than I have gotten.  I was a PC person for years and most of my associates told me that I needed to get a mac...I am starting to regret having taken their advice.

    Sorry you're having this problem.
A few years ago we had a similar issue on one of our machines, it was an early MacBook. Ended up being a cracked circuit connection on the motherboard. Changes in temperature caused the crack to expand and contract resulting in a shut-down followed by an automatic reboot. Sometimes over-and-over. I understood from AppleCare at the time that those symptoms could have also been any number of things including a intermittent issue with a powersupply.
If you take it back to the Apple Store at some point, I would ask them to have it run some CPU intensive tasks that closely resemble what you are doing when the screen goes black. It took us several try's to find the problem. Calling AppleCare each time to discuss it and troubleshoot before making the trips to the Apple Store really moved things along. In fact, it wasn't until the Apple Store had cracked the case from the inside that things kicked into a higher gear and AppleCare phone support sent out a pre-paid FedX package to send it to a refurbishing facility. Never a problem since and I know the people who have the machine today.
PS Can identify with the trip to the Apple Store, our closest one is in Knoxville, 2hrs from us.

  • V570 LESS THAN ONE YEAR OLD: Mainboard replaced twice, overheating, broken HDMI. And that's typical!

Is this a lemon? How should Lenovo handle this?
Hello. From very beginning, shortly after purchase, V570 overheated (80-90 degrees Celsius, with screen shots of core temps as proof). Problem went on for several months, burning leg at one point. I called tech support, no call back and no repair scheduled. Kept notes, dates and times of all contact.
I had purchased next day on-site repair service for three years. So when no one called back about problem after ten days, I called back and raised a little pleasant ruckus. Got some action.
On-site tech installed more powerful fan. Helped out with high temps. Tech recommended motherboard to be replaced, since it was probably fried from overheating.
Then, the HDMI port no longer worked. Lenovo took more than a week on this repair. Parts were sent to a technician who was no longer in business, so parts were in Fed Ex limbo. I spent 10 hours on phone (5 hours to the Philippines) trying to straighten out the mess.
Problem escalated. No one from North Carolina or Texas ever calls back. No. Call. Back.
You can imagine my trust factor with Lenovo is zero now.
New mainboard installed. Works fine. Tech leaves. Two hours later, screen is completely black. Nothing. Dead darkness dead dead. Cannot power on. No tricks with power button, recovery button or anything else working.
Called support again about dead machine. Sending out another mainboard for another repair. I do research and realized this is the bad bad bad motherboard that *everyone* here is complaining about. Lots of other dead black screens from it. So, again another two hours on the phone.
Then, I call tech in Philippines back, and say, hey, this is the mainboard that is riddled with problems -- I really do not want to go through this again. They recommend another mainboard, but it's a slower one -- an i5 dual core instead of quad core.
At this point, we're three or four mainboards in, in terms of repairs that have happened and parts coming, on a machine less than a year old.
At what point does Lenovo make the financial or business decision that the best option is to replace the machine rather than paying for four motherboards and on-site repairs?
And, BTW, when I pay hundreds of dollars for a 3-year on-site next-business-day repairs, I mean ON-SITE, NEXT BUSINESS DAY. That's what my contract says, in writing -- I've got it in front of me. That doesn't mean 2-3 business days that all the techs are saying to me.
I've even had several techs say I need to send in my machine, and I say, uh, I have on-site repair, and they say they "need to get approval" to authorize on-site service. **bleep**??
This is the worst customer service and the poorest machines I've ever encountered.
I also have a 2-month old y570, that arrived with a broken battery bay and still the touchpad is as stiff and unusable
as Day One.  Both the lower housing/battery bay and the touchpad have to be replaced or repaired.
I'm gathering that others are having as many problems with their machines as I am having with mine. And even when you pay for good service -- you don't get it.
IdeaPads bear no resemblance to the greatness of ThinkPads or the IBM of yesteryear.
    Lenovo, please help.

Unfortunately, the carrier that you purchased it from is where your warranty channel is. I wish I had a better answer but that is how the system works.
As I mentioned, even if you are within the warranty period and with the same carrier, the warranty is probably void since the device has been disassembled and repaired--they can tell when it's been apart. I've heard of this mirrored issue before and it's usually a hardware problem, as you've already been made aware of by the repair facility you took it to.
I hate to say it but you are probably out of luck on this one. Wish I had something better to tell you.

  • My iPad less than one year old, had battery fault , taken in and replaced.  Is the replacement new, no I don't think so but a refurb one. Also don't get another year warranty?..  Has anyone else had this?  Not happy

iPad faulty not even one year old......taken in and replaced.    Is this a new iPad......?  No was told. Old be three years old....why isn't it being replaced with a new one, with a new warranty....of another year.?  As they have only given me 90 days... Makes me wonder why.?... Have they no faith in their product...I am beginning to wonder..........
Anyone else experienced this.?.... Or any ideas where l stand.   The web site useless,

A warranty replacement can be a new or refurbished unit as specified in the warranty terms.
A warranty replacement will have warranty for the balance of the original term or 90 days, whichever is longer.
    All perfectly normal.

  • Cycle counting greater than one year

Looking for a method to have cycle counting (table V_159C) set at three year intervals. Seems that it is not possible to set at less than one year. No decimals are allowed.
    Can anyone assist?
    Thanks Bruce

    Hi Bruce
The idea is to count all the materials at least once in an year.
We did this for one of our customers (Good ABAP required):
    a) Maintain settings for CC in IMG for A,B,C,D classes. Whereever you want more than one year, we just maintained 1 (once in a year).
    b) Maintained one more similar table.
    c) Maintain material master with fixed CC indicators for all materials
    d) Copy the cycle count program and create you own program with new logic
    Best regards
    Ramki

  • Just tried installing an update to OS.  Although the screen tells me that the installation will be completed in less than one minute, that was two hours ago, and the computer won't permit me to shut it down via the power button, as I get an error sound.

Just tried installing an update to OSX Snow Leopard.  Prior to trying to update OS, I was running V 10.6.3.  During installation, it locked up.  Although the screen tells me that the installation will be completed in less than one minute, that was two hours ago, and the computer won't permit me to shut it down via the power button, as I get an error sound.  What do I do now?  Help!

Hold the power key till it shuts down, it may take a little while, try holding it thru the warning.
Then if it shuts down restart and open Safari/Preferences, General tab, and set "Save Downloaded Files to:"
Select desktop, if desktop is not available in the the drop down menu, click other, then select Desktop from the column from the on the left.
    Then download this:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399
This will download the "stand alone installer"
Click on the installer pkg and follow the prompts.
    Hope this helps

  • Time Machine Migration hanging on "Less than one minute remaining"

I decided to take a risk with my iMac and do an erase and install with Leopard, the version of OS X it's been running for years now. The reinstall went fine migration assistent got me started transferring my information from my Time Machine external USB 2.0 hard drive. It said it was just over 200 GB of information. That proceeded fine until it reached the "Less than one minute remaining" mark. It's been sitting here for over 12 hours in the "transferring files to support applications" process. What should I do? Is it alright for me to manually turn off the computer and re-boot? There is no cancel button or anything. I do get the pleasant clunking sound when I hit enter.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
If you have connected both computers with a cable, disconnect and connect that cable again, so migration should continue. If it doesn't work, restart your MacBook Pro and check that all the files have been transferred. If not, open Migration Assistant and transfer your files

  • 4 computers in less than 4 years. What can I learn from this?

I've had four MacBook Pros in the past 3.5 years.
The first one had a bad motherboard and in the end, the computer was just replaced. I had it for less than a year when that happned, and the computer they replaced it with (#2) lasted two years.
One month after the warranty ran out, it quit working and it needed a new motherboard. I bought a new computer (computer #3 at this point). That one worked for 3 months before I had to take it in. They replaced the motherboard.
On Monday, computer number 3 quit working.(It was the second time I had to take it in. The first time they replaced the motherboard after it was three months old. Turns out, that didn't actually fix the issue and I had to erase everything and re-install the operating system). I took it in this time and they replaced the hard drive. That didn't fix the problem. So they replaced the RAM. That didn't fix the problem. I was just told on the phone that they would need to replace the computer because they have no idea what is wrong with it. I've had it since August. That one didn't last long.
So now I'm on machine number 4 in less than 4 years. This is extremely frustrating, considering the time and revenue lost, as I need a computer every day to get my work done. I've lost money and clients. Every time I take these computers in, it's at least of week of sorting everything out. I should say that I am so careful with these computers. I keep them very clean and keep them in a protected case whenver I move them.
Now, I like to look on the bride side of things. But I can not see a bright side to this.
So I have two questions. What lesson should I learn from having to replace three MacBook Pro computers in such a short amount of time? And the second question, is there some customer support department that hear about this?

    Hi slimpiggy,
Sorry to hear of your frustration. Regrettably, your experience is far from the norm but it's definitely not an unheard of story. A family friend experienced a similar issue with her Dell XPS machine (5 units in 33 months). Sometimes it's just a chain reaction of bad luck.
Out of curiosity, if your computer is such a key component to your income and financial success then why do you have only one? I've worked in a position that has required constant contact to network services and resources and as such one of the first purchases I made was a secondary computer. It was nowhere near as nice as my main unit but it give me a buffer incase there was a situation that my primary machine was unavailable, lost, damaged or required service.
As far as the lesson, there is none. Misdiagnosed machines or slow turn around times on repairs are never fun but there's not much you can do. Apple does have a department, called Customer Relations that you can speak to regarding your experience. Their number is (or at least was this the last time I called) 800-767-2775.
    Good luck!

  • Three optical drives in less than four years?

    Hello all,
Thanks in advance for reading.  I have a MacBook Pro from 2008 with OS X 10.5.8.  I bought OS X 10.6.3 and was excited to install.  1st try - optical drive recognized the install DVD, went through the motions of installing when after several minutes the computer went to blue screen, ejected the DVD, and the computer restarted.  Ditto 2nd try.  Went to Apple store for help on the issue, where the install was tried again, yielding same results.  I bought a CD/DVD lens cleaner from Radio Shack, which did not help.  4th try on the installation, same results as before.  I tried various DVD's from my movie collection and they played just fine.  This is the second drive in less than four years to go belly up.  I am not rough on my computer, nor is my workspace dirty.  I'm perplexed though, because the first drive that needed replacing simply stopped working completely.  That is, the drive was not displaying the selective behavior that this one is.  After some time, I went back to the computer to try installing a 5th and final time.  The DVD wouldn't even bring up the install window.  The drive would spin for a few seconds and stop, this cycle repeating maybe three times before ejecting the media.  I'm stumped - though admittedly, it doesn't take long to exhaust my knowledge as regards computer stuff.  Does anyone have experience or suggestions about this?  Am I going to have to suck it up and buy a third optical drive?

  • 2 dead harddrives in less than 2 years.

    Hi all,
My hard drive died 2 days ago (blinking folder at startup), but the problem is, it's the SECOND hard drive that has failed in my Macbook. My most recent hard drive is less than a year old, so I'm now wondering if there is something fundamentally wrong with my Macbook hardware, and not just bad luck with hard drives.
I know there were known issues with the first revision Macbook and the OEM hard drive, but I was hoping that my current drive would have lasted more than 9 months. (And I do believe that the drive is under warranty... but that's another issue)
Any help would be greatly appreciatled...

Running 1 gig of RAM, and haven't installed either bootcamp nor parallels/fusion on the computer... the hard drive just stopped spinning during normal daily use....
I was doing a little web browsing, listening to music, when everything just stopped working. I couldn't forcequit anything, and the keys and mouse (no pinwheel) were unresponsive. The my caps and num-lock buttons would turn on/off... but nothing else worked...

  • How can I move clips in my project more accurately? i.e. Less than one frame over left or right?

    Hi there
I'm trying to sync some video to some audio. I have snapping turned off, yet I cant move a frame left or right any less than one frame.
Is it not possible to move a frame anyless than one frame left or right? It still SNAPS to one frame left or one frame right.

As Jon has told you, you CAN NOT adjust video in less than a 1 frame increment.  And I honestly doubt that even if you could, that you'd see the difference in the audio synch.  In the good old days of film editing, it was only possible to adjust the audio synch for 35mm within a 1/4 of a frame (as each frame has 4 perforations) and 16mm within a frame (as each frame has 1 perf).
The only way to avoid this problem (if it is a problem) is to genlock the cameras so the timing of each frame matches from camera to camera.
