I have to install Tomcat 4 on a linux machine (Debian) as an application server (that is Apache serves the static content (html) and Tomcat serves jsp file)

I had a similar problem when installing the database server software. This was fixed by editing the LD_SELF_CONTAINED parameter in

  • How to utilise forms installed in Oracle9i Application Server from client

    Dear Friends,
I have installed Oracle 9i Application Server and Forms 5.0 Reports 3.0 in the application server. How to make use of application server so that forms installed in it available to end users, the client. What are the steps i need to do. Please explain.

Forms 5 & Reports 3 in Developer 2.1 have been desupported for a number of years now. If you haven't already figured out how to get it working on the web, download the Forms & Reports Services Standalone version of the 10g Application Server. It has Forms & Reports properly configured after the instalaltion. Just look under the Demonstrations tab of the home page and click to run either Forms or Reports on the web. You can customize your setup afterwards for your application. Of course you'll need to upgrade your application.
You can find this download at:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/ias/htdocs/101202.html
under "Forms & Reports Services Standalone"
It is a 1 CD download.
    Cordially,
    Steve

  • Is jakarta-tomcat is Application Server ?

Is jakarta-tomcat is Application Server or Only Web container ?

I think we can call it application server, but there's something we have to make clear.
Technically, Tomcat isn't a complete application server, it's only a JSP/Servlet container. But web server is so simple that it doesn't take much effort for a server like Tomcat to embed web server function, so Tomcat can serve as ordinary web server as well. That I say he isn't a complete app server is because it doesn't support EJB and other application model.

"MS Wants us to use powershell AND installation media AND be connected to the internet AND not have a WSUS server... "
Don't quite understand the rant, but that's okay.
I look as connectivity to the internet as a last resort - I don't know that I have ever used it and my labs tend to be completely isolated from the internet.  Connectivity to the internet is not a requirement if you are using the -Source parameter.
Connectivity to the internet is in lieu of the -Source parameter.  The installation will first check if the files are local - which they are for most cases as they are in the local SXS directory.  If for whatever reason, e.g. they have
been deleted, the installation will look for an alternate location.  If a -Source parameter is specified, it will look there.  If none is specified, it looks to the internet.
If you plan on using the -Source parameter, it has to point to something and installation media is handy.  But whenever I have needed it (the only time I have needed it is for .NET 3.5/2.0) I sometimes I use the media.  Sometimes I have simply
copied the SXS directory from the media and used it without the rest of the media.
A WSUS server has absolutely nothing to do with this.  A WSUS server does not provide 'connection' to the internet for the machine on which you are trying to install.  Connection to the internet means that you can browse the internet from the machine.
The post that aperelli pointed you to did have a reply that may be germane.  You don't mention if this is a core installation or a full installation.  One of the options you have chosen in not valid on a core installation.  Since we don't
know what your environment is, this is a shot in the dark.
Another point is that there could be some sort of conflict of options chosen.  My personal preference would be to break the installation into smaller steps - maybe even a single feature per PowerShell cmdlet.  I don't think you will see any difference
in the amount of time it takes.  Then, if there is some sort of an issue, you would know exactly which feature is creating it.

    Hi,
This is a problem with your DNS settings (or lack of), not with Sun Java System Application Server/Access Manager.
You will need to setup DNS before installing.

  • Can I install WebCenter with Application Server 10.1.2.0 ?

    Hi all
    I have installed Application Server R2 10.1.2.0 (Infr + mid-tier)
    to deploy some Portals .
and I would like to build & deploy my Applications JSF/ADF + Portlets
using Jeveloper 10.1.3.2 Studio Edition (JDeveloper + ADF + WebCenter Extension)
do I need to install Oracle WebCenter Suite 10g Release 3 (10.1.3.2.0)
    with Application Server R2
OR JDeveloper 10.1.3.2 + AS R2 is enough
    OR what ?
    thanks

I think the question was about requirements to create and run WebCenter centric applications and portlets in general. Please correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the context of the question about reuse of an existing AS 10gR2 platform? This would only make sense if the existing platform could be used for any parts of the Webcenter application - JSF runtime and portlets. Webcenter has to be setup on a 10gR3 container so you have at least one 10gR3 instance involved - at least for the Webcenter app. So why should you have an interest to mix up your application architecture with a 10gR2 based portlet deployment
Also, if you want to use a 10gR2 container for your portlets you can only build portlets based on a 10gR2 PDK/portlet container. A 10gR3 PDK requires a 10.1.3.1 minimum release of the OC4J. Hence a 10gR2 for portlets doesn't make any sense for a Webcenter application.

  • Installing an ABAP Application Server for ECC6? I am getting a few errors!

    Hi All
I assumed that this was a simple procedure when installing an Application server.
Run SAPinst and select Dialog instance and install
My server has Java installed and runs fine until you get to the profile directory stage. and when I enter the directory I get the following message (after 30 seconds or so!)
Connect to message server (mexico/0) failed: NIECONN_REFUSED.
I am not sure why! Can anyone help?
    Thanks

That error means, that the message server the system is trying to connect to, is not up and running.
Can you reach the messages server via ping? Is your DNS working (in case you use DNS)?

    Hi,
I don't know fi you want to install the dialog instance on the same or on a different server. First, please refer to installation guide
in session "dialog instance installation" for step by step installation.
Note that if you want to install this dialog instance on an other server some directories in central system should be share such as: profile, global and
    exe directory.
    Best regards,
    Olivier
