Instance startup problem after offline backup

Hi,
We  have scheduled an offline backup of our NW2004s ABAP + Java system through brtools. But after the offline backup instance is not coming up automatically. After going though the instance work directory I found the following problem in dev_ms file.
Once we come across this problem we have to restart the server to make it work.

Your views to solve this issue will be helpful.

well that follows after a memory shortage of the windows 32 Bit operating system itself.
I would <b>strongly recommend not to run 700 unicode based system on 32 bit platforms</b>

  • J2ee problem after offline backup

    hi all,
this question has been asked before but there was no answer. maybe now, there's a solution already? after the offline backup, abap stack is ok, but there's a problem with the j2ee stack. cant launch the integration builder. we had to restart the j2ee via smicm. it has been happening for 4 weeks now..

we have checked it and j2ee did not come back up after the reboot / offline backup. we had to restart j2ee via smicm for 4 consecutive sundays now. here are two possible reasons why i think it did not come back up:
    1) there were transfers during the offline backup. messages were being transferred during the offline backup process.
    2) there are scheduled background jobs while offline backup is running. these scheduled jobs ran right after the offline backup.

  • Java stack is not available after Offline backup

    hi all,
Am facing this problem,  in one of the XI  system  ,
after offline backup , am able to login in ABAP stack
but when i type sxmb_ifr am not able login to the java stack.
the log says, ORACLE NOT AVAILABLE,
ORA-27101  Shared memory realm does not exist.
    ORA-1034
    please advice

    Sidharth

    Hi Sidharth,
Since you are able to login to ABAP, the DB must be up, but to double check run "r3trans -d" at command prompt and verify the connectivity.
Secondly, you need to check whether java server processes are running... using JCMON.
If they are running, then try a stop SAP, reboot and start SAP; so that dangling shared memory will be free for use after reboot.
If not, then you may check why the java instace in failing to start, monitor jcontrol and jlaunch when the instance is starting and defaulttrace#.trc logs to know why the instance failed to start.
Otherwise there is no specific relation between offline backup and SAP applications.
    Regards,
    Saurabh.

  • System is not coming up in MSCS environment after offline backup from DB13

    Hi All,
SAP system is not coming up after DB offline backup from DB13.
Here are the details of system. SAP XI 3.0 SR1 NW04 running on Microsoft clustered environment windows 2003 and Oracle 9.2.0.6.
    My observations:-
    1. All the services of cluster admin was up except XE1.World when DB offline backup completed (executed through DB13).
    2. services.msc entry OracleXE1920TNSListener (automatic start) and OracleServiceXE1 (automatic start) was down.
and sqlplus "/as sysdba" was failing with ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error.
Please note gw/netstat_once parameter is alredy there with value 0.
Further I would like to add, when I started cluster admin service XE1.World by right click - bring online, services.msc entry OracleServiceXE1 came up, but OracleXE1920TNSListener was still down, then I started listener from cmd mode lsnrctl start.
    Kindly suggest.
    Thanks & Regards

  • Wrong umask after offline backup

    Hi all,
originally our databases/instances were running with umask 022. Files (eg through datapump dumps) were created with permission 644. But then we....
Recently we integrated our rman backup script in Enterprise Manager 12c (scheduled backups). For offline backups we now have the probelm that EM stops and then starts the database. After that the dumps files were created with permission 640. So it seems that EM ignores the umask. Is there any chance to change umask if the instance is started through EM? How does EM actually stop and start the database? Does it log in with ssh or does is use sqlplus from the EM Server?
    Thanks in advance

I think this link would help you.It talks about activating the automatic back up and procedure to do it.

  • Startup Problems After Upgrade to 10.4.8

Six weeks ago I upgraded my RAM by adding a 1Gb chip, and after checking to see that the added memory was recognized, I installed OS X 10.4.6 from my purchased DVD. I was then prompted to update to 10.4.8. For the first three weeks I used my iMac G5 with no problems. Then, with no apparent changes having been made, I began having Startup problems with my iMac. Every Statup go like this after pushing the Power button:
    1) I get alternatively a black screen or the gray Apple screen frozen
    2) I use the Power button to Shut Down, then Start with the Power button and get the gray Apple screen with cascading text error messages
    3) I Shut Down and Start as in 2 while holding the Option-Command-P-R and get Desktop, but my applications repeatedly Quit Unexpectedly (Safari, Explorer, iTunes, etc.)
    4) I Restart from the Apple Menu and get the Desktop and my applications usually work without Quitting.
I tried re-installing from my OS X 10.4.6 DVD (Archive and Install), but I get errors when the Installer gets to Prepare the Disk. Can anyone tell me what else I can do, or do I need to contact Apple Support?? Thanks,
    ktanzoak

Only if you are able to boot into the desktop. If you are, follow the instructions on my FAQ:
    http://www.macmaps.com/backup.html
    for backing up your data.
If you aren't able to boot to the desktop, get Prosoft Data Rescue, and an external hard drive to attempt a recovery using the
    http://www.macmaps.com/backup.html#RECOVER
    directions on my FAQ.
Please let me know which procedure you are able to do and if you have any questions before you proceed.
In the future, always backup your data prior to installing any new software.

  • Startup problems after battery change

My G4 Desktop, now getting on for 6 years old, but working perfectly until recently, needed a battery change on the mainboard as the clock was having problems. However this has led to startup problems: initially, following the startup chord, the computer wouldn't start at all. After some online digging, I found references to the CUDA button/zapping the PRAM. I can now restart by resetting CUDA, but the computer usually won't restart or even start from power off, meaning I have to go back to the CUDA button every time. The computer also fails to recognize the installed RAM, except for 128MB, corresponding to one of three RAM strips.
Apart from the battery, the only other likely contributing factors are that the computer's been shipped internationally recently (however, it was professionally packed and shipped, and made its first restart after this move without problems). The other potential factor is the switch in voltage, from 240 to 110, but that was handled normally by switching over on the back of the case.
I would really appreciate any advice that can help me get this old clunker back in action, and with all RAM recognized. Nice as an upgrade would be, it's not a strong option for me at the moment, and I'm otherwise satisfied with the G4 anyway.

    Hi, Yukiguni!
You sure have an interesting problem...
You might review Texas Macman's tutorial at the following link:

I'd check that replacement battery with a voltmeter to insure that it's good. ("New" isn't necessarily synonymous with "fresh".)
You might try completely de-energizing your Mac. In the link above, there's a Tip just above the Battery section that refers to what to do when sometimes computers lose their mind. This procedure oftentimes works to reset a PMU/CUDA that seems to refuse to reset properly and retain the correct startup parameters.
If you can get the Mac to boot from disk again, you might run the Apple Hardware Disk. Definitely run Repair Disk from the install disk if you haven't already done so and can get it to boot from disk. (You might try booting to the Startup Manager by holding down the option key at startup and trying to select the disk from there. Your best bet for success is to do so just after resetting the CUDA/PMU.)

  • Startup problem after restore in recovery mode

    Hello,
My iPhone 5S stuck in apple logo and did not start to home screen. I found that the best solution is restore in recovery mode, but it did not work. my device started but made the apple logo loop. seems that it start and shot down. even the iTunes could not recognize it.
After two days of having this problem, disappointedly I put the wake up bottom and I saw that my iPhone started but in factory setting. Non of my data on it. I was happy until I made a restore to get back my data, apps, contacts, that the same problem of startup happened.
    Can anybody help?

The backup data seems to be damaged, you'll have to start all over again without the latest backup, sorry.
iOS: How to back up your data and set up your device as a new device
If you are using iTunes on the computer, there might be more than one backup listed in iTunes/Edit/Preferences/Devices, check the article mentioned above for more info. If there is, use this one to restore from, to get at least some settings and data back. If there is no other backup listed, your backup data can't be used anymore, sorry.

  • G5 startup problem after shutdown of frozen installation of new software...

    Hi all
I got a massive problem. My G5 was installing software from dvd and got stuck for some reason. Nothing worked and I had to shut the whole system down. When I now start the G5 it comes up with a white screen with just a small folder in the middle of the screen displaying a question mark and alternates that with the apple face. Besides this the fans go mental and after a minute or so I have to shut it down again. Mouse and Keyboard are responseless:(
What can I do to get it starting up again? - I need the data on the system drive as I did not have time to back it up yet:((((

It lost its pointer to the startup disk, so you are seeing the "?" which equals "Can't find system"
The directory and file system likely are corrupt and need to be repaired.
Before installing, always insure one or two backups, one that is bootable. And a copy of Disk Warrior is handy.
Boot from another drive using the OPTION key, hard drive, firewire, DVD and repair your system.
Backup first, is always faster and less hassle and good insurance policy.
Use SuperDuper; Apple Restore in Disk Utility.
If you can't use the OPTION key or boot from CD/DVD, then pull the drive and put it in a FireWire case for later repair and recovery.
And do make sure you have a clean safe fresh Apple OS boot drive that is ONLY used for emergency maintenance, repairs, etc.

  • Startup problem after use in target disk mode with a PC. Ideas?

I used my Mac 10.4 in traget disk mode. Data transfers between Mac and PC worked fine (via Macdrive 6). After disconnecting and trying to boot normally, Mac doesn't recognize internal volume. It flashes the question mark.
Tried to repair disk via install DVD - disk utility found no problems.
    Reapired permissons.
    Reset PRAM and NVRAM.
Tried Startup utility - found the internal volume and even after selecting it for startup, I still get the flashing question mark.
Apple hardware test found no problems.
Archive and reinstall is not allowed.
Data can still be accessed fine via target disk mode.
Any ideas how to reinitialize or reset the startup volume?
    Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Hello,
You need to put the Tiger Install Disc in the 2011 iMac, boot the 2011 uMac into Target mode...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1661
Boot the G4 holding the Option or alt key, hopefully the Install Disc in the 2011 iMac will show as a boot choice.
We just want to use the 2011 iMac as a big expensive FW Optical drive, it cannot be installed osing the 2011 iMac itself.

  • Startup Problems after Installing QuickTime and ITunes 7.5 Update

I went to Software Update today and Installed the new ITunes 7.5 and Quicktime update and after it finished, it asked me to restart the computer. After I restarted:
-All Desktop icons keep flashing at the same time every 3 seconds
-The top white bar with the apple logo in the left corner keeps disappearing and reappearing at the same time as the icons do.
-Every program I open closes within 5 seconds of me opening it, i am only able to open them in the first place because my dock is the only thing that does not disappear.
-Finder and System Preferences are not accessible.
I do not have the System Restore/Tiger backup CD's with me, If these are needed, is there any way possible to use the ones that come with an Intel MacBook, just to maybe repair the hard drive or whatever may be needed to be done?

    Hello,
If you mean ... is it ok to use system restore disks that came with an Intel MacBook on an iBook G4, no, that's not possible. Your iBookG4 is a PowerPC... the MacBook has an Intel based chip.
If you installed software such as iTunes and QT updates and these problems just started as a result it may be that your iBook drive hasn't enough available space. If you can, open any Finder window. The amount of free drive space is displayed there. 15% or less is bad. If this is indeed the case, then try to move important files off that drive.
If you can run Disk Utility.. it's in your Applications/Utilities folder. Launch Disk Utility. In the panel on the left, select MacintoshHD 10.4.x, make sure the First Aid tab is highlighted, then click Repair Disk Permissions... that might help. I'd suggest you Verify the disk for errors but you can't do that without the iBook system restore disks.
One other suggestion is to purchase either DiskWarrior available here: www.alsoft.com
or TechToolPro available here: www.micromat.com (I've used DiskWarrior successfully 3 times on my iBookG4!
I hope something I've suggested helps...

Maybe the workspace is corrupted..Try starting with a new workspace. In a short cut define the new workspace
    C:\Programme\SAP\IDE\IDE70\eclipse\SapIde.exe -showsplash 600 -data C:\temp
    Otherwise try installing again.

  • Startup Problems after Firefox 2.0 Installation. Help, please.

A few nights ago I finally acquiesced to the repeated friendly messages asking me to upgrade to firefox 2.0. After installation I restarted firefox and things were going just fine (although I was a little underwhelmed). Still, my mac worked and that's all I particularly care about.
I shut down my MacBook Pro that night without a thought, but now when I try to boot up I get as far as the login screen, enter my information, and then instead of being taken to my desktop I get a blank default background and a pointer--and that's it. Sometimes if I leave the blank background long enough it will close and return me again to the login screen ad naseum.
Does anyone know what's going on here? And out of curiousity, has anyone else had similar problems with the new Firefox? Most importantly, can anyone tell me how to fix this?
(I've already tried starting up in safe mode, by the way. Same thing happens regardless.)

Hi and welcome to the discussions, You may need to repair your startup disk. Boot from your install disc and hold "C" down after you hear the tone and release when you see the Apple logo. Choose your language. Then when the install window opens, choose "Utilities>Disk Utility" from the menu bar. Select the startup volume"MacintoshHD" and click Repair Disk in the lower left after its finished, repair permissions then restart.
Hope that cures your Prob, Glynn
