Instance terminated by CKPT, pid = 944,What can I do? What is "pid=944"

********************* ATTENTION: ********************
The controlfile header block returned by the OS
has a sequence number that is too old.
The controlfile might be corrupted.
PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT TO START UP THE INSTANCE
without following the steps below.
RE-STARTING THE INSTANCE CAN CAUSE SERIOUS DAMAGE
TO THE DATABASE, if the controlfile is truly corrupted.
In order to re-start the instance safely,
please do the following:
(1) Save all copies of the controlfile for later
analysis and contact your OS vendor and Oracle support.
(2) Mount the instance and issue:
ALTER DATABASE BACKUP CONTROLFILE TO TRACE;
(3) Unmount the instance.
(4) Use the script in the trace file to
RE-CREATE THE CONTROLFILE and open the database.
Instance terminated by CKPT, pid = 944

Eddie Essex wrote:
What you need to do is documented in the steps above your error message.
pid=944 is just showing you the process ID of the checkpoint process. The PID is just an identifier used by Oracle. The V$PROCESS view will show you the pid of the database processes.Not to be pedantic, but the process won't exist in the instance now that the instance was restarted.
Ultimately, that doesn't matter anyway, as you said, though, what you need to do is documented in the error message. Be thankful that you got such a helpful message instead of the usual 'ORA-HAHAH: Instance terminated for no discernible reason - please learn hex and review the trace files'...:)

  • Scripting: what can be done, what can't...

    Hello all,
    I have recently started the process of asking for InDesign Server. Before I complete this process, I would like to know whether Scripting for InDesign is the right way to go.
    Basically, I need to create an app that will:
    1. Collect multi-layered PDF's with technical specifications / templates
    2. Generate some graphical elements and colours on the fly based on incoming variable data (i.e. XML), and place those elements in a new layer. This would require a low level access to drawing elements - i.e. to draw a simple pixel in a coordinate of the PDF, or bezier curves, etc
    3. Export the PDF in high res with outlined text, OR save the work in progress preserving all the layers in the right format.
    Now, my first idea was to develop this using C# libraries, but I am yet to find a library that has fine tuning when it comes to layer access...
    The first question is the following: can I achieve points 1, 2, and 3 with InDesign Scripting? Or is scripting directed to a higher level of access?
    I just need to know what technology would allow me to achieve this level of fine tuning. C# libraries allow drawing anything I require, but the lack of layer support is a complete drawback...
    Second question: is it correct to asume that I can create scripts in InDesign CS4, and then test them in a server in InDesign Server? AKA: I could spend months working locally, then test with InDesign Server when I am happy that I am going the right way?
    Thanks ever so much in advance to whoever wishes to respond, and apologies for the long email!
    David

    If you have cash for InDesign Server - buy it and put it on shelf and use "regular" indesign
    1) If by "collecting" you mean import one-after-another on consecutive pages or one-above-another (stacked/layered) or place as graphics somewhere on page or in text - then yes - no problem. But if you want to import PDF as editable contents - it's not so easy - you need PDF2ID.
    2) and 3) piece of cake

    My time capsule does not see my HDD, what format of the hdd is needed

    What format is it?
    The drive should be FAT32 or much better HFS+ which is
    Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    You should also use GPT (GUID) type partition not MBR as from windows.
    Sometimes the TC will not recognise a drive and you need a powered USB hub.. even though the Disk has its own power.

  • Can I run two seperate PID functions in one VI

    I need to controll two different valves. THey must be run by a PID function. Can I run two seperate PID modules? If so do they need to be in the same while loop?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi,
    yes, you can run 2 PID functions in one VI.
    No, they don't need to be in the same loop.

    My trash won't empty since I upgraded to Lion.
    Other than using rm -rf ~/.Trash/* in the terminal what can I do. Reparing permissions didn't hpl.
    regards
    robin

    I have the same problem. I can put things into the trash, but when i empty the trash it makes the crumple noise like its throwing it away and the files stay in the trash and the icon stays full. I have 10.7.2. I also have Parallels installed on my machine.
    Before this problem, I was unable to add files to my trash can and then I removed this program called CleanMyMac, which I guess wasn't compatible with Lion, and now I can at least add items to the trash can. It seems I am having a lingering issue due to that program.
    I have a case with Apple Senior Support Analysts and they can't figure it out...
    Please help!! I do not want to format and start all over just to empty my trash can
    I also do not want to install Trash It (which would empty the trash i've heard) but will not resolve my issue only cover it up.
    Thanks!!

    What I can guess is this all is happenning because system datafile OS block got currupted....is it so or some other reason?....and how to resolve this issue?

    Hi,
    Since it is system tablespace, you can't open the DB. If you can't open the db you can't use dbms_repair. Also DBV doesn't change the content of the file so that also not going to help.
    So only open left is to do point in time recovery.

    I try to findout this tablespace and datafile status:
    SQL> select file_name,tablespace_name,file_id,status,online_status from dba_data_files where tablespace_name='TEST_DATA';
    FILE_NAME                              TABLESPACE_NAME FILE_ID STATUS ONLINE_

    D:\ORACLE\PRODUCT\10.2.0\ORADATA\ORCL\TEST_DATA2.DBF     TEST_DATA      45      AVAILABLE ONLINE
    and the size of the tablespace's datafile are;
    TEST_DATA=31.9G
    TEST_DATA2=26.8G
    TEST_DATA3=4.8G
    Can any one suggest me what would be the cause behind the instance termination?
    Thanks,
    Jigisha...

    Hi Hemant,
    there is nothing running at OS level as I make confirmed with OS Admin.
    or that is accpetable if any thing run at os/db level and lock a file but its actually terminate the instance...if you see above my paste content.
    only one doubt which I have and that is this user "TEST_DATA" having default tablespace is "TEST_DATA". This tablespace having 3 datafiles. when I import this user during import operation it gives error for full this test_data.dbf , so I resize test_data.dbf to 34G and resume import activity.
    when again import gives error I added one another datafile i.e. test_data2.dbf which is also in size of 26.8G.
    but when I found my Instance in Down mode I added 3rd file TEST_DATA3.dbf(with the consideration that might be some max limit of 8192 blocks on 32bit windows like 32G/34G dbf file size limit) and its size is 4.8G currently.
    so as I already added other datafiles to this tablespace then why it refers to 1st datafile only during some activity and terminate the instance?
    suggest me if you have some thing...

    ORA-00600 is a fatal error.
    So you would be better to contact to the Oracle
    support as soon as you can.ORA-00600 is not necessarily a fatal error.
    00600, 00000, "internal error code, arguments: [%s], [%s], [%s], [%s], [%s], [%s], [%s], [%s]"
    // *Cause:  This is the generic internal error number for Oracle program
    // exceptions. This indicates that a process has encountered an
    // exceptional condition.
    // *Action: Report as a bug - the first argument is the internal error number
    Look it up in metalink, and as indicated by ktakamura, contact support, if you can't figure out what happened from the trace file generated.

  • BPEL Process instance termination based on correlation

    Hi All
    Looking for a sample BPEL (not BPM) Process for instance termination based on correlation (say while an order process in running, customer can cancel order anytime).
    Thanks a lot in advance.
    regards
    sibendu

    Hi,
    Inorder to work with correlation sets, you need to define what is the unique element you want to share across multiple instances....so how to execute a long running process...you can do many things like userRegistration, AuctionSystem, VotingSystem with correlations...
    For that, define the correlation set property and choose a unique id for that...,then define the correlation set and add the correlation set property which you have defined earlier...Now associate this correlation set property in all the messages you exchange with your BPEL ...See the exact syntax in Oracle DOcumentaion and work on your flow...
    Thanks,
    N
