Instructions for writing a custom dsp:tag?

I am planning to write a custom dsp tag for my project, is there any example or documentations about this?

Yes, actually I don't wanna do this also, but I found the <dsp:include/> tag is not failsafe. We are doing some kinds of variable include, the page attributes corresponding to some variable path, however if the variable is null, instead of include nothing, <dsp:include/> tag recursively include currently context.
I wanna know how the collect those params within a atg custom tag, I don't think it can be done without access with ATG api.
Thanks!

  • Custom JSP Tags for Weblogic

    Hi,
              I have several questions regarding this topic:
              1) Does Weblogic 5.1 supports Custom Tags ? If so, are there any known
              problems ?
              2) Does Weblogic come with any tag libraries (for loops, if, etc) and where
              can I get them ?
              3) Are there any tag libraries out there (JRun, for example) that have been
              successfully run on Weblogic ?
              Any help would be much appreciated.
              Thanks,
              Jamie

    As there seems to be general interest, a link would probably be a great
              help.

  • Custom adaptive tags for 6.5 / 10gR3

    I'm going through an upgrade, and it seems that while some of the custom adaptive tags developed for 6.1 work in 10gR3, there are some that do not. Before I go about doing the work, I felt that I should ask..has anyone done this yet? I didn't see any .NET dll's in the alui toolbox...
    In particular, the tag that I need right now is the pt:standard.openerlink with the ability to display extra parameter(s).

    This is actually easier than I expected. I don't know why i was scared of creating new tags all these years. A few things that I found...
    With friendly urls, when the link is created (using standard.openerlink), the portal needs to look up the object to ensure that its valid (makes sense, otherwise, how would it put the name in the friendly url). I would imagine that this would have performance implications, right?

  • Set-up custom font, font size, and color for writing new and reply e-mails in Thunderbird

    I know that I can select the font, size, and color for writing each new and reply e-mails in Thunderbird, but I don't want to have to do this each time. I want to set-up the default font, size, and color for all new and reply e-mails. It already comes up with a default one, but I want to change it, but can't figure out how to do this. I'm sure it is quite simple, but I don't know how to do this. Thank you in advance for help.

    Tools > Options > Display > Formatting tab
    Default font: select font
    Select size : eg; 14
    Click on 'Advanced' button and set all the sizes to 14
    Select : 'allow messages to use other fonts'
    click on OK
    Click on 'Composition'
    Under the 'General' tab
    Suggest you set HTML font to 'Variable width' and Size : 'Medium'
    Select the 'Text colour' you would like to compose email using
    Select the 'Background colour' you would like to use when composing emails.
    click on OK to save all changes.
    This will set the display email list to the selected font.
    It will allow received emails to use the font the sender used.
    When you compose an email it will also use the same font settings.
    The message 'Display' settings in the above section also apply to messages that you compose. The settings are not sent, so they do not affect how your messages appear to recipients.
    The settings in the ''Composition' section can affect how messages are sent. If you make unusual choices, then people who receive messages from you might find them difficult or impossible to read. Hence, why I suggest you leave it as 'Variable width' and allow the 'Display' settings to set the default used for composing emails.

    I need to set up an expense form so that our consultant can "filter" by customer type, program type, and finally the purpose of the trip. For instance: the customer types are churches, schools, organizations. The program type would be dependent on the customer type selection from the first list. Some examples would be: fund raising, gift planning, surveys, and others. The purpose of the trip would be dependent on the program type selected from the second list. Some examples of trip purposes would be: presentation, design, prospecting. Further, the purpose of trip selection from the third drop-down box would then have to determine the values of other fields by expense type: such as commission, airfare, hotel. etc. I've tried pop-up menu but can't figure out how to "select" from the final popup list and have it populate a field for the purpose of the trip. I've tried to look at the JavaScript examples for dependent drop-down boxes, but can't find any that quite fit what I'm trying to accomplish. I am very new to all of this. No training in writing Javascripts - just trying to wing it. The form has to be very simple for our consultants to use, but also give our office the detail we need to process through the correct account numbers. I would appreciate any detailed step-by-step instructions - kind of a javascript for dummies type of info. HELP!

    An AcroForm is the name given to the type of PDF form that you create in Acrobat. An XFA form is the type of form that you create in LiveCycle Designer. Although they are both PDF files, they are very different structurally and have significant;y different scripting models. So pay attention to the information on AcroForms and ignore anything about XFA. Be sure to get the sample PDF forms so you can look at how it works and where the scripts are placed.
    What you want to do will require scripting, and if you don't have the experience and are unable to use the information in the tutorials to create what you want, you might consider getting someone who has experience do this for you. I'll often suggest code if I can do so quickly, but what you want requires more than a few minutes.

  • Writing a custom component with multiple fields.

    Does anyone have some pointers on writing a custom component that properly handles multiple input fields?
    An example usage might be as follows:
    Assume the following java classes:
    public interface Address {
        //... getters/setters for Address.
    public class Company{
        Address getAddress(){...};
    }The tag usage might be something like the following:
    <custom:address value="#{myCompanyBean.address}" />
    Extending UIComponentBase I can easily render the output and create all the needed input elements. I'm also able to properly retrieve the submitted values in the decode method. But I'm unsure how to handle the "UpdateModelValues" step. Do I simply over-ride processUpdates, or is there more housekeeping to be done?
    Thanks.

    I'm guessing that doing addChild inside createChildren causes an infinite loop.
    Why aren't you just doing this with MXML?  it would be a lot simpler.

  • Writing a Custom Property Renderer

    Hello all,
    I am new to KMC development.  I want to know how to go about writing a custom property renderer.  Detail step by step instructions as to where to start and what are the configurations, etc. would be a great help for me.
    Thanks in advance.
    Vicky R.

    Hello Vicky,
    Step by Step guide to creating Property renderer is:
    1. Program an implementation of AbstractPropertyRenderer.
    2. Implement a RFServerWrapper service to register your property renderer with CrtClassLoaderRegistry.
    CrtClassLoaderRegistry.addClassLoader(this.getClass().getClassLoader());
    3. Technical mapping to your coding in the Property Metadata service.
    4.Restart your server for the changes to take effect.
    Check this link for more infos:

    Also check the implementations of RFServerWrapper service in examples at this link:

    Hi Venkat,
    Maybe the reason for no one answering is because of lack of information in your post? What are you trying to do? Are you using JSP or UIX XML? Have you checked the online jdeveloper documentation? Have you checked the doc available in the JDeveloper release? Before we have more information we can't help you. Sorry

  • Problems in developing custom JSP tags

    I have problems in debugging custom JSP tags. Sometimes the doStartTag is not called on tags but the doEndTag is called. I don't know why.
    Thanks.

    Fahr--
    A word of caution -- NetUI did not ship a JSP tag SDK in 8.x, and
    we're making no compatibility guarantees for custom JSP tags written on
    the 8.x release and future releases.
    You can accomplish the same sort of functionality with a combination
    of the <netui-data:getData> tag and JSTL 1.0. This solution would
    probably provide similar functionality and be more future-proof relative
    to JSTL and the NetUI tags currently being developed in Beehive.
    Hope that helps.

    ie.
    <prefix:isGreater dataSource="{pageflow.column1}" dataSourceToCompare="{pageFlow.column2}" />
    How would I evaluate what column2 is since the tag will only resolve one data source
    this.evaluateDataSource();
    Any pointers you can provide would be appreciated, or if there is a library of jsp tags that evaluate objects using datasources already created, that would even be better.

  • JSF 2.0 Custom security tag

    We are migrating a JSF 1.2 application to JSF 2.0. Earlier we have developed a custom security by extending BodyTagSupport. In JSF 2.0 I have replaced BodyTagSupport with TagSupport and no compilation issues. In my taglib.xml if I configure this Tag with a handler-class[Which is how it was earlier] While running I am getting a class cast exception of not able to cast to TagHandler and If I configure this tag as component[I extended UIComponentELTag] I am getting error message as not able to cast to UIComponent.
    Has any one developed a custom security tag, for examle check user role and if allowed dynamically display set of buttons or skip the particualr body part completely. By doStartTag()[EVAL_BODY_INCLUDE/SKIP_BODY]?

    We are not extending TagHandler, I am trying to develop a custom EL Body tag that was earlier done with BodyTagSupport in JSF 1.2. In JSF 2.0 I believe I need to do this by extedning FacetTag in JSF 2.0, when I extend FacetTag and register it as a <handler-class> in taglib.xml I get a TagHandler class cast exception, as by default any Tag configured as Handler-class get cast into TAGHANDLER in JSF 2.0.
    To make my question better, How can I develop a custom tag extending FacetTag?

  • Instructions for new features in 5.0 don't work on Mac.

    The instructions for using new features in Firefox 5.0 do not work on Mac, which is most likely your largest user considering Mac users can't use IE. Contol-clicking on a tab does not result in a menu with "pin tab" or any similar wording. It is not possible to drag one tab icon on top of another to create tab groups. Those are the only two changes I've tried. Do these features not work on Mac? If they do, how do those of us who are intelligent enough to use the superior computer find instructions?

    Your point that the support is manned by volunteers and not the company producing the software is the problem. I have a little time right now, but I teach 15 credit hours of college writing courses during the academic term, which means I work 14 to 18 hours a day seven days a week. I do not have time to search through endless posts to seek answers to basic functionality questions. The companies that produce software should be responsible for explaining how it works, and they should do so in non-technical terms unless they want me to impose my expertise on them and demand perfect grammar on their sites. But then, corporate America is not held responsible for anything these days. Frequent, needless software updates that limit rather than enhance functionality are quickly turning me into a neo-Luddite.

    You wasted time wnadering around the tax website and you  selected the wrong form. All the information required to obtain an  EIN number from the US tax office is on the discussion group.
    Whatever your form filling problems are, only you can decide IF you want to apply to Apple for a suitable account to allow you to submit your  book to their iBooks Store.
    Its an easy process to download the correct document in PDF  form,  print it off,  fill it in and  have  with you when you telephone the corect office in the US. I t will then take about 10 - 15 minutes to answer the question syou will be asked and which you have in writing in front of you to save time.
    BTW, in Aussie, you will also need an ABN number and if you plan selling books, check your banks requirents to recieve payments from the USA.

  • How to render custom JSP tags

    We have our own custom JSP tag libraries (some of them extend the Struts tags, but many do not) and want those to render correctly in the design view.
    Is that supported by NitroX Struts, or will it only work with built-in Struts tags?
    If it is supported, how does one get NitroX to run the custom tags?

    It is possible to customize many aspects of the rendering of a custom tag. This is done using a combination of an M7 specific metadata, and standard css rules.
    For example, you can change the label, icon and border of a custom tag by doing the following steps:
    1) Create a folder named "nitrox" where your tld file is located. For example if you have "/WEB-INF/app.tld" then create a
    folder "/WEB-INF/nitrox/".
    2) In the nitrox folder created above, create a file named "app.tlei" (for Tag Library Extra Information). The file name used here should match the name of the tld file. In this case "app".
    3) Paste the following content in the app.tlei file:
    <taglib-extrainfo>
    <css-uri>app.css</css-uri> <!-- an optional css file relative to this tlei file -->
    <tag name="myTag">
    <display-name>My Tag</display-name> <!-- The name displayed in the Tag Libraries view -->
    <rendering-label>{tag-name} ({name})</rendering-label> <!-- This will display the value of the "name" attribute in addition to the tag name in the tag view in the JSP design editor. -->
    <small-icon>images/myTag.gif</small-icon> <!-- The image uri relative to this tlei file. This is used in the Tag Libraries view and in the JSP design editor.-->
    </tag>
    </taglib-extrainfo>
    All customization tags are optional.
    4) Create the css file referenced from the tlei file above (in this example app.css in the same directory containing the tlei file).
    5) Paste the following content in the app.css file:
    myTag {border: 1 solid red; display: "inline"}
    This will render the tag as inline (i.e as one graphical object) even if the tag has nested content.
    In addition, you can use any standard css style property.
    You can customize other tags in the same fashion.
    If a custom tag inherits from a Struts tag, then the tag can inherit the full built-in tag customization as shown in the following example:
    Suppose you have a tag named "myText" that extends the Struts html:text form field tag. To inherit the NitroX html:text customization you follow the steps:
    1) insert the following in the tlei file described above:
    <tag name="myText">
    <inherit taglib-uid="http://jakarta.apache.org/struts/tags-html" tag-name="text" />
    </tag>
    2) Insert the following css rule in the css file referenced from the tlei file:
    myText {m7-inherit: "input-text"; display: inline}
    This will inherit the built-in css style for form text fields.
    Likewise, you can inherit the other Struts tags css styles by using the following rules:
    myPassword {m7-inherit: "input-password"; display: inline}
    myCancel {m7-inherit: "input-submit"; display: inline}
    myCheckbox {m7-inherit: "input-checkbox"; display: inline}
    myRadio {m7-inherit: "input-radio"; display: inline}
    mySelect {m7-inherit: "select"; display: inline}
    myTextarea {m7-inherit: "textarea"; display: inline}
    3) The inherited tag library file (in this example the struts-html.tld), must also be present under the WEB-INF directory.

  • Custom Iteration Tags

    Hi,
    I'm working on a project that uses JSTL and IPlanet Web Server 6.1. We've recently had to downgrade the project as the live server only supports Iplanet 6.0. We will be upgrading the web server later and the project deadline is looming.....
    The problem that I'm encountering is that JSTL <c:forEach> tag doesn't work on Iplanet 6.0. I have tried various methods of implementing the tag but no luck. Does anyone out there know of a custom iteration tag that I could implement whihc has the same attributes as the c:forEach tag?
    I would be very grateful for any help provided....
