Integrate an interactive flash movie into a Java component?
Is it possible to integrate a flash movie into a Java component? - say by shoving a certain web page into a JEditorPane (content type = html)? - even if java doesn't know anything about it?
Theoretically... yes.
You would have to write a java flash player... so... no - for real.

Is this interactive flash movie possible in Adobe Edge?
Hi,
I´ve done this interactive flash applikation:
http://bit.ly/Uy6GEF
Is it possible to create this exactly the same in adobe edge? If you click on a hotspot, then a 3d-video (this video is already done in a 3d-animation-software) with a transparent background appears over the car-layer and on click to "back" it softly disapears.
(For this online version, I´ve just put a compressed video into "Gasoline & Diesel system". Normally, every hotspot has a different video.
So, are those interactions possible in Edge?
Best regards,
MawEverything except for the alpha transparency video is easily doable in Edge.
Rather then trying to shoehorn html5 video with an alpha transparency into Edge (not sure if this is doable), you could potentially use a png sequence or spriteSheet to play back those animations. Though the file size will be very large, and Edge does not have native implementation for png sequences or spriteSheet playback. yet.
John Dunning built a plugin for Fireworks to export a spritesheet as an Edge symbol:

Embed one Flash movie into another
I have two flash movies (fm1 and fm2). fm2 is imported into
fm1 and contains a function
function test()
return(123);
fm1 also contains a function
function test2()
return(456)
I'd like to call the function test from fm1 and also call
test2 from fm2.
Is this possible?Yes but you will have to locate the function. For example:
_parent.test1(); can be called from fm2
If you load fm2 into a movieclip which has the Instance Name
"fm2" then you can get to the function in fm2 by using
_root.fm2.test2();
I hope it helps. -
Need help inserting flash movie into article...
I inserted video into flash movie. I loaded the .swf & .fla files onto a server and went into the properties in the flash movie and pointed to the server to pull the .fla file & the movie controls .swf file. I can preview the movie in flash with no problem.
I am wanting to use the object code that was created as part of the .html file that was generated by flash and insert this into an article to display the video. I path the .swf file in the object code to point to where it resides on the server but the video will not play using just the object code. Is there a way to do this using just a object or embed code without the need for scripts?
(I am using CS4 version)If the swf file does not reside in the same folder as the html page that loads it, then if the video is dynamically loaded into the Flash file, chances are the targeting in the swf needs to be adjusted. If the swf files just targets the video by its filename alone, try putting the video file in the same folder as the html file and see if it gets loaded.

Problems inserting flash movie into webpage
I am trying to insert 2 different flash movies on one webpage
One is a banner made in flash cs4 that works fine.
The other is a movie that I encoded with flash cs4 from a m4v file. When i test this file using the flash player on my computer everything works fine.
When i try to play on the webpage it shows there is flash object in dreamweaver but is blank in webbrowser.(right clicking shows there is flash there but nothing loads)
I have managed to get the movie working on a completly blank html file except that there are no controls (controls work fine in the flash player on computer)
As far as I can deduce it's not the html file because one swf file works ok
It's not how i'm inserting it onto the page because dreamweaver is doing it for me(and including the nessecary javascript etc)
It's not the movie because that works in the flash player on it's own.
So i'm stumped
any ideas guys?
(if it's any help the webpage it's on is www.csdrummer.co.uk , click on top right image on sidebar, has play button, under navigation)
Thanks
JamieI'm sorry I missunderstood the post from earlier. If I add the flv file in dreamweaver and upload the corresponding swf all works well but the flv file is 45mb which is a bit large for a 3 min video.
What i would like to do is turn this into a swf file. But this is where the problem is happening. THe swf when i export from flash wont work, comes up in the browser as doesn't load

Problem inserting Flash movie into a Dreamweaver page
Hi, I've inserted a .swf movie on this page. It used to work, but doesn't now. In Dreamweaver (CC), when I highlight the movie and click 'Play' in the Property Inspector it works (but doesn't in 'Live' view within DW).
Please be gentle about my code. I'm a hobbyist and started this site about 7 years ago so don't have time to keep up with latest coding trends! Answers re. non-appearance of movie only, please.Flash really isn't the way to do this anymore, very few people viewing your site with a mobile device are going to be able to see your .swf. Adobe stopped mobile Flash development a few years back and most devices that used to be able to see Flash, no longer ship with a Flash plug-in. Certain devices, like all Apple iOS devices, never had the ability and there is no way to add it to those.
Since it appears when uploaded, I would guess the reason it doesn't work locally likely has something to do with your machine's security settings, especially if Microsoft is involved in the equation somewhere. If it works when uploaded, you're good to go.
HTML5 <video>, CSS3 and jQuery (javascript) are now the default for video and animation for websites since they're compatible with virtually all devices used to browse the internet. -
Embed flash movie into flash site
I'm sorry if this has been answered elsewhere i searched around a while and couldn't find a solution.
Basically i have these buttons that I want to link to a movie that would come up in a popup window that has the controller options- to stop play, fastforward, etc. I made one already using flash CS4 and exported it to a .swf file. how do i link the button to the .swf file to open a pop up window- where i can control the size of the pop up window? also- when i upload the .swf file do i need to upload the encoded .f4v video to my server too? I'm open to a completely different way of doing this as well!! any help is appreciatedHi thanks for the reply. i had looked through this link before. the problem is I am not trying to a website to open in the popup window. I want to open a .swf file in a popup window....any other suggestions?
also- i imported a .f4v movie to flash cs4- chose one of their skins and exported is as my .swf file. will this work?
thanks a million for any help im rather daft at this!! -
I am having difficulty impanting a flash movie into my
homepage. You can see my problems at the link below:
VIEW SITE HERE
problems:
1. The drop down menus from my navigation bar fall behind the
flash movie. I've tried working with layers, but I can't figure out
how to get the flash movie to fall behind.
2. The flash movie contains interactive content, but you have
to click once on the movie itself before you can scroll over and
see the interactive parts.
How can I fix these problems? Any help is much appreciated.> 1. The drop down menus from my navigation bar fall

All Active content on a page will always rise to the top, so
to speak,
including Flash, certain form elements, Java applets, and
Active X controls.
This means that each of these will poke through layers. There
is not a good
cross-browser/platform reliable way to solve this issue, but
if you can be
confident in your visitors using IE 5+ or NN6+, then you can
use the Flash
wmode parameter (however, Safari does not support this
properly!).

It's IE-only behaviour as a result of changes Microsoft made
several
years ago to their browser, regarding how Active Content
(Flash, Quicktime
etc)
is handled, after losing a high profile court case.

Help with multiple flash movies in same website
I'm trying to create a website in dreamweaver. I created the
artwork in fireworks. a slice of it i exported to flash to create
rolling clouds over the background. i also want in the same swf
file a screen for my main content. ( I used a scrollPane component
that works nice. But for each button on my web menu (home,
schedule, ect...), I want to be able to put new content in my
scrollPane. My buttons don't reside in my flash movie. Do I need to
create a new movie for each web page?
I'm not sure how to procede.
Can anybody help?
bradIt seems that when you import an external flash movie into
Captivate 1, the full path is...
"_level0.slide0__image_mc.s0_i9_swf_mc.m_swf_mc"
...this was the start of the solution for my problem so I
thought it best to post in case it helps out anyone else.
BTW - The slide number changes (obviously) and so does the
'i' reference depending on the attributes you have given to your
imported movies. -
Editable regions and Flash movie
Hi,
I am trying to insert a flash movie into an editable region
of a child page, but I keep getting the following error: "Making
this change would require changing code that is locked by a
template or translator. The change will be discarded."
I have read previous posts about the same issue, but none of
them answers my question. I tried creating a new template and a
child from it as a test deleting the css links (like some one
suggested to do) to try to identify the troubled css and I kept
getting the same error in the new pages. I hope someone can help to
identify the issue and the solution. The region where I want to
insert the movie is called "FinalMainContent."
BTW, I do not know how to write code... Sorry!
Thanks, in advance, for any help you can provide!

Flash movie is repeating in safari browser
Have inserted a flash movie into a web page using dreamweaver. Have exported the flash movie out as window mode = transparent.
have made the <param name="wmode" value="transparent" /> tags. Works ok on most browsers except Safari. It seems to repeat the movie vertically (well just a few pixels of it. How to inser flash movie in wordpress?
Hi everyone,
I am trying to insert a flash movie into the footer of my website http://bajabeachfrontlandsale.com but I'm having problems. Does anyone know of a widget or some sort of modification to the code that will allow me to do this.
Thanks for your help.Hi Fernando,
I use a plugin to insert swf files on my Wordpress Blog called WP-SWFObject.
You can download it from the Wordpress.org website, is quite easy to find, I enjoyed the ease of use of this plugin that much that I wrote an article and put a link on my Wordpress Blog to help people find a good solution to embedding flash files in WP posts.
I tried many in the past, and this one uses shortcodes, You can get info on it here. http://bombnail.com -
Flash Movie - Controlling the Movie
I'm currently working with a flash file that has 24,000
frames. I have been able to successfully use the Call Sprite
commands to start and play the movie and stop the movie, but only
from frames 1-16,000. But for some reason the movie will not play
beyond frame 16,001. It will go to any frame using the Call Sprite
commands after 16,000 and display that frame but the movie will not
play. The movie is a flash 6 swf. published from Flash 8
professional. It was originally a video converted to flash format.
This works or any frame number between 1 and 16,000:
CallSprite(@"chair",#gotoframe,9325)
CallSprite(@"chair", #play)
But the movie image stops at frame 16,001 and the sound
continues. If I tell it to go to frame 16,100 (or any frame higher)
It will go to that frame, display that frame (image) but will not
play the movie/sound.
The flash assest properties are set as Linked, preload, image,
sound, and I've tryed every possible option.I would not be surprised if this was a limitation of the
Flash sprite,
since it only officially supports Flash 6 or earlier. I
recall some sort
of frame limit in older versions of Flash.
Did you try 'not linked', so it's actually imported? Not that
that would
help necessarily, but maybe.
Also maybe try the Flash ActiveX control and see if that
works better
for you? Though it has it's own issues and requires different
scripting...

Flash movie in director heard but not seen... mostly not seen!
Using flash i made a flash movie to use as an intro to my
director project, I imported the flash movie into director and
placed it on the stage. When i play the director file i can hear
the audio from the flash movie but cannot see the flash movie,
untill right near the end i have an image on a motion tween in the
flash movie which i can see.
Can anybody tell me why i cannot see the rest of the flash
movie?Hi Ajrobson,
I'm guessing you're using Flash 8 and haven't updated
Director for Flash 8
compatibility.
Go to:
http://www.adobe.com/support/director/downloads.html
make sure you've downloaded and installed the 10.1 update.
Then install the 10.1.1
update. This will update your Flash support.
