Integrate Crystal Reports version 11.5 and Visual FoxPro

Post Author: landc50

I have developed several softwares in Visual FoxPro while using Crystal Reports Version 7 as the major reporting tool.   It was easy to invoike Crystal reports from my applications, simply by adding the Crystal OCX onto the VFP form.
Now --- I have added the ActiveXReportViewer from version 11.5 onto my VFP form.    Looks ok but it I am not sure how to invoke the reports in Maximized mode.   Seems like it will only show the report the same size as the object I placed on my VFP form.
I need to know how to do this yesterday.   I must implement a new system and I do not want to revert back to Crystal reports version 7.   Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
I would recommend you have an empty form and drop the viewer on that form.  Set the form's state to Maximize.
Good luck,

  • Integrate Crystal Reports XI Release 2 and VS2005 IDE

<p>Hi,</p><p>How can i integrate Crystal Reports XI R2 is directly into the Visual Studio 2005 development environments. So i can host my report in either a Web or Windows application with one of the Crystal Reports viewer controls, or use the extensive API to interact with the report programmatically at runtime. </p><p>My current setup is:</p><blockquote><p>Crystal Reports XI Release 2.</p></blockquote><blockquote><p>Visual Studio 2005 Professional (I did not install the Crystal Reports .Net shipped with VS 2005.)</p><p>SQ Server 2000.</p><p>&#160;</p></blockquote><p>Thanks Please help.</p>

You'll need to install the Crystal .NET that comes with VS 2005. You then install Crystal XI R2 over the top and not only will Crystal be integrated with the IDE, it should use the updated assemblies from R2.

  • Integrate Crystal Reports with Spring MVC and Hibernate

    Hi all,
having successfully used the JRC version 11.8.4.1094 in a Java environment with:

  • Crystal Reports version 10.2 and IE8 issues

We are currently running Visual Studio 2005 and using the Crystal Reports that comes packaged with Studio.  We are creating avery labels with crystal reports and we see our data perfectly fine in FF and IE7 - however in IE 8 for our Subreports we get [object] in place of the data we'd expect to see.  What needs to be updated on our servers (which are running as windows 2008 servers (64bit))?
    thank you.

Not sure what you are seeing as the "object" link in your post resolves to:
    http://forums.sdn.sap.com/
    As you are using CR 10.2, make sure you have applied SP1;
    https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100006007872008E/crvs05sp1.exe
If that does not help, let me know a bit more about what is happening.

  • Visual Studio 2005/2008 and Crystal Reports versions/upgrade questions.

I've tried posting this question on the MSDN forums and gotten no response.
I've downloaded and installed VS 2008 Beta 2.   The versions on the Crystal Reports files included are 10.5.0.1806
I'm currently using VS 2005, with the included Crystal Reports.  The versions on those files are 10.2.0.xxxx.  I've created an desktop app (in VB) which stores it's data in a database and uses the CR 10 runtime merge modules to generate a report.
I was considering upgrading the Crystal Reports version to XI.  I would like to allow customers to modify my delivered report with their own licensed copy of CR XI.  I am not providing any functionality within my app to create or modify the delivered .rpt or use it outside my application.
    Questions:
Do I need to update the runtime files to CR XI to support rpt files modified with CR XI?  Current runtime files are being delivered with the CR 10 merge module.
I see a Crystal Reports for Visual Studio upgrade to CR XI.
Can I update the merge modules to CR XI and still use the CR for VS2005 for development?
Does it make any sense to update CR for VS 2005?  Or to get the full CR XI Developer edition?  My usage of CR functionality is very limited.
Would there be any benefit to waiting for the release of VS 2008?   How does that change the scenario?
How does Crystal Reports for Visual Studio fit in with the Crystal Reports Lifecycle?  It's not mentioned on Business Objects End of Life Dates page . Crystal 10 has a Patch EOL of 31-Dec-07.   Does this apply to CR for VS 2005?  Where does 10.5 fit in?
My main concern is allowing customers with CR XI to change the format of my delivered .rpt to run with my app.  Adding their company name, logo, etc.   My testing show a CR XI report still works with my current app.  But, going forward, what should I deliver and what do I need to use to continue development?

To use Reports designed in XI, you need to use XI or higher runtime, running them in older versions may work, but you may encounter unforeseen issues doing so.
If you are to use VS2005 for development you need to use XI Release 2 (11.5) runtime.
If you are going to use VS2008 for development you need to use Crystal Reports 2008 with Service Pack 0.
The support end of life for versions of Crystal Reports bundled with Visual Studio are linked to what Microsoft's lifecycle for the product is.  Generally if there is a workaround for the issue that is simple enough, there will not be a patch created.
The changes you are expecting the customer to do can be accomplished with our RAS SDK which is available without using enterprise starting with Crystal Reports XIR2 SP2.

  • Crystal Reports, version for Visual Studio 2010 Problem

    Dear all,
I encounter a problem after installed the crystal report version for Visual Studio 2010. Once I call
                           ReportDocument.PrintToPrinter(1,False, 0, 0)
    The error message prompt:
Report is unavailable(Index was out of range. Must be non-negative and less than the size of the collection. Parameter name:index)
    If I try
                             ReportDocument.PrintToPrinter(1,False, 1, 1)
It can print the 1st page of the report.
I also try to create a simple report. It works.
After installed this version, my reports also encounter the same problem in Visual Studio 2008.
My report has sub-reports. My PC is Windows XP.
Anybody has idea on this issue!?

Now you can set the various printer options using the PrintOutputController. I'm using a UI box to select the printer but your developer should be able to figure this out. If not you can include him in the e-mail, it would be fine to go direct. Of course you will stay in the thread:
         private void btnSetPrinter_Click(object sender, System.EventArgs e)
              System.Drawing.Printing.PrintDocument pDoc = new System.Drawing.Printing.PrintDocument();

  • How to integrate Crystal Report Server and J2EE platform

    Hi,
It's my first time using Crystal Report, so I don't know exactly how I should start...
As what i've searched around, there is a method of generating crystal report from a JSP file. By this way, everything will be handled within the application server.
But in my project, we intend to leave the part of handling and generating report to another server, i.e. there will be 2 servers: application & report. Anyone experienced with this can guide me through? By splitting into 2 servers, that means I will need to have the Crystal Report Server right? And if doing so, from the application, how do I call the Crystal Report server?
    Thanks for viewing...

You can use [Crystal Reports for Eclipse|Crystal Reports for Eclipse 2.0 Release Update 8 is Now Available!; to do exactly this. It comes with an example application for displaying reports using the CR Web Report Viewer. It's EXTREMELY easy to use and even to integrate in your existing web app. If you're using Eclipse and have the CR4E plugin installed, you can go to File > New > Crystal Reports and select Crystal Reports Web Project. This will create the CR server application for you. You can also right click on an existing web app and have Crystal Reports integrated directly into your existing app.
To do this, just right click on your web app and go to Project Properties. Then, go to Project Facets, check the box next to Crystal Reports, click Apply and then OK. It will copy all of the necessary runtimes into your lib folder and will even update your web.xml to include the stuff needed for CR. On the left, you should see Crystal Reports File Versions. Click on that and you should see the version of Crystal that was just installed into your web app along with all of the files that were copied or modified.
You could probably then create a report viewer in your other app (maybe an iframe?) that includes a link to the report in the CR Web App.
If you need more assistance with this, let me know. I'd be glad to help out as I've already played with something similar to this.

  • Silverlight and Crystal Reports Version 11.2

    Hello
a customer works with Crystal Reports Version 11.2. Is it possible to create a Silverlight Application (in order to set the parameters) and then call the RPT-File? Is there a link for an example?
What I have found so far is this blog entry: http://www.global-webnet.net/blogengine/post/2009/01/06/Running-Crystal-Reports-from-Silverlight.aspx
... But nobody can tell me which version of Crystal Reports is needed.
    Thanks!
    Bernhard

    Hi Bernhard,
From the looks of the Design in your link it does appear to be a newer version of CR. It may be version 10.2 or 10.5 that comes with VS 2005 and 2008 he was using. If it was then R2 should work also.
There is a link to Contact the blogger, ask him what versions he was using.
Unfortunately we have not done any testing with silver light so can't say if it will work. Add your request to the Idea Place link above, search first, and then vote for it if found. Program Managers do watch it closely and they will add it if enough people request it.
    Thank you

  • Crystal Reports versions and DSR files

    Hi,
I am working with an ancient VB6 application that has 25 or so reports attached to it.  These files are .dsr files.  I am having a problem opening them in the VB6 IDE and when I investigate (through talking to people here or researching on line - via CodeGuru,VBForums,StackOverflow etc.), I get conflicting reports of what I should be looking for and doing.
My question to anyone who can answer me quasi-intelligently is this:  Has Crystal Reports, in ANY of its previous versions, ever produced a DSR file as a report.  I know the versions since v8, I think, use the .RPT suffix.  I have been searching and talking to people and some say no, some say yes.  I figured someone here would definitively know.  I have tried to convert one of the dsr files to a Crystal Report file using VS 2008 (assuming it was Data Report file), but received the error that the file was not a Data Report file.
If you need any more information I will be glad to fill in any blanks necessary....
For the current application, the following is true:
    XP Platform
    VB6
Crystal Reports 8.5 installed, but I have Crystal Reports 7 dlls (Library and ActiveX Designer Runtime) available but not the full application.
Anything you can tell me would be greatly appreciated....
    Thank you,

I think the closest scenario is the third one.  I am trying to resurrect this "Jurassic:" application in order to see what it does, so that it can be rewritten.  The problem is, or was, that it was not compiling and the problem was seen as Crystal Reports.  I removed Crystal from the equation and it turns out Crystal was not the only problem.  I, howevver, fixed the other issues and have gone back to the Crystal issue.
I cannot effectively use anything associated with CR7.  It causes errors and crashes the app and generally that's not acceptable.  Since I am working remotely, I am waiting to hear back from the server guy who set this up to see if he installed or even has the 8.5 Developer edition (I am fairly sure he did not install it even if he had it).  Assuming that it is or gets installed, I will implement it in the app and upgrade the DSR files as you suggested.
For 8.5 I currently have the following dlls:
Crystal Reports 8.5 ActiveX Designer Run Time Library (craxdrt.dll)
Crystal Reports 8.5 Standard Wizard Component (crystalwizard.dll)
    Crystal Reports Viewer 8.5 (crviewer.dll)
These have been included in my application, but at the present time I cannot run my application with an older DSR file because the application shuts down with an "Unexpected Error - 50057"
If I may, can I leave this open for now, and get back to you when I have more results?  I have a feeling that I am missing some things (ie Developer edition and associated support files) and that I need to go hunting for them.
I appreciate the information you have given and would appreciate anything further you can tell me, which I understand due to the age of this app may be very little.
    Thank you once again, Don,
    Gene

  • SAP Crystal Reports 2011: Error INS00140 and other install errors

    Hi all,
There have been many customers who have downloaded the Crystal Reports 2011 installation package and have run into an error when the installer attempts to recognize the keycode being used.  The error received is "The Product Keycode is not valid INS00140."
This thread is meant to track all current resolutions that have been determined based on troubleshooting with customers thus far. In addition, the thread will provide you with the list of things that we need to know in order to properly troubleshoot the issue.
Before attempting any of the steps below, please be sure that you are using the latest version of Crystal Reports 2011 which is SP02. You can download this version from the SAP [website|http://www.sap.com/solutions/sap-crystal-solutions/query-reporting-analysis/sapcrystalreports/index.epx].
    Coy
    ====================
    Resolution Options
Windows XP & Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable
If you are installing Crystal Reports 2011 on Windows XP, then you need to ensure that the following Microsoft patches are not installed on the machine. You can check this by using the Add / Remove Programs dialogue.
    KB2467175
    KB2467174
    KB2467173
If any of these are installed, then please remove them before attempting to install Crystal Reports 2011.
Installing with Dashboard Design 2011 or Presentation Design 2011
If you are installing Crystal Reports 2011 on the same machine as Dashboard Design 2011 or Presentation Design 2011, then there may be a problem with the registry key that points to the location of the keydecoder DLL. To check this, launch run regedit and navigate to the following location:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SAP BusinessObjects\Suite XI 4.0\Shared Tools\keydecoder.dll
You want to make sure that the "path" key is pointing to the valid path for the keydecoder.dll. The correct path to the DLL should be: C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\win32_x8keydecoder.dll.
    Uppercase License Key
In addition to the above, you need to make sure that you are entering the license key in all uppercase characters. There is a current issue with the installer where it does not accept lower case characters.
Fix - Coming in SP02, but can implement manually for now
Locate the BCM-4-0.dll.2.Config file in the <install package directory>\dunit\product.crystalreports-4.0-core-32\actions
(replace crystalreports with crystalreportsjava for CR for Ent and xcelsius for dashboards)
    Open BCM-4-0.dll.2.Config
    Locate this line:
    <bindingRedirect oldVersion="8.0.50727.0-8.0.50727.1434" newVersion="8.0.50727.4053" />
Modify the oldVersion number to make the line like this one:
    <bindingRedirect oldVersion="8.0.50727.0-8.0.50727.4053" newVersion="8.0.50727.4053" />
This should allow you to install without issue.
    Further Troubleshooting
If none of the above helps to resolve the issue, then we need the following:
The installation logs from the following folder: C:\Documents and Settings\<YOUR USER NAME>\Local Settings\Temp\<DATE OF YOUR LAST ATTEMPTED INSTALLATION>
The results from attempting to run the keycode validator directly. You can find it under the folders that contain the installation package. For example, C:\Documents and Settings\<YOUR USER NAME>\My Documents\CrystalReports2011\DATA_UNITS\CrystalReports\dunit\product.crystalreports-4.0-core 32\actions\isKeyCodeValid.exe -keycode <YOUR KEYCODE> -version 140 -property CR.EnableCR
You should submit a new forum post with relevant details about the error and provide links to download the logs generated by following the above steps.

    Then try these:
    1. Download the latest version of the installation package for Crystal Reports 2011. To verify the version of extracted package, open productid.txt file located at: {installation package}\DATA_UNITS\CrystalReports\.
Make sure it is not less than 14.0.2...
    2. Where to download Crystal Reports 2011 installation from: - free trial from SAP Online shop http://www.sap.com/solutions/sapbusinessobjects/sme/freetrials/index.epx - from SDN Community page http://service.sap.com/sap/bc/bsp/spn/bobj_download/main.htm - from Service Market Place http://service.sap.com/sbop-downloads Note: downloads from all above listed locations are fully functional product installations. Trial version defined by expiring key code, not by functionality limitations.
    3. Copy the installation package to a hard drive if possible to avoid any networking issues.
    4. Login to the machine as Local ADMINISTRATOR.
    5. Temporary disable any kind of firewall, antivirus, network security etc., if possible.
    6. On the latest versions of Windows, even if logged in as local Administrator, right-click the setup.exe and select "Run as Administrator". If do not have Administrator account, right click "Run as" Select current user and uncheck the "Protect my computer and data from unauthorized program activity".
    7. Make sure there is enough space on the computer. If not sure about the space, run "Custom" installation with minimum components. Non-mandatory components could be added at any time.
    8. Finally, if there is an existing "InstallData" folder under C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects rename it to "InstallDataOLD"

  • Over 12 minutes required to merely OPEN a .rpt file in Crystal Reports version 8.5

    Post Author: Rob Kramar
    CA Forum: General
Background: Our division has 3 networked, but geographically dispersed, plants; each plant runs MS SQL Server and Crystal Reports on local servers.  A rather complex (version 8.5) Crystal Reports .rpt file (main report plus 12 subreports) exists and executes in one of our distant plants against a MS SQL Server database located there.  I copied that .rpt file to my local server (CTXB) which has Crystal Reports 8.5 installed and which I can access via Citrix from my PC.  I "repointed" that report to our local MS SQL Server database (located on a different server &#91;CTXA&#93; on my local network) &#91;which uses the same database schema as the database in the other plant&#93; by setting up a new ODBC  driver, using the Convert Database Driver function, and using the Set Location function.  I applied these changes to the main report and each of the subreports individually.  I dropped all the links in Visual Linking in the main report and in each of the subreports and recreated each link.  I did a Verify Database on the modified report (which appeared to check the main and each of the 12 subreports).  I ran the report within Crystal Reports v8.5 and verified that the output is correct based on my local MS SQL Server data (on server CTXA).  I saved the .rpt file on server CTXB and exited Crystal Reports v8.5.  I did all the above work on server CTXB via Citrix from my local, networked PC.
Problem: When I try to reopen the .rpt file in Crystal Reports v8.5 (via Citrix on Server CTXB) it consistently takes over 12 minutes to merely open the report.  Once opened, it executes with acceptable speed within Crystal Reports v8.5 and produces accurate results.
Note: If I compile the report in v8.5 on server CTXB (via Citrix), and attempt to execute the compiled report on CTXB (via Citrix), the popup with the u201CPrintu201D, u201CDoneu201D, and u201CAboutu201D buttons appears immediately, but an hourglass also appears that prevents me from clicking the u201CPrintu201D button for over 6 minutes.  Once the hourglass disappears, that popup works normally and the report executes with acceptable speed (about 4 seconds) after I click the u201CPrintu201D button for a single execution.  If I then close the output display window and try to immediately rerun the report (from the u201CPrintu201D, u201CDoneu201D, u201CAboutu201D popup which is still visible) by clicking the u201CPrintu201D button, the hourglass returns again for another 6+ minutes.  A third such iteration results in an u201Chourglass lockoutu201D of over 6 minutes.
Note also: I can open that same .rpt file (stored on server CTXB) in Crystal v7.0 on my local PC, and it opens in less than 5 seconds.

According to the release notes, for the JRCHelperSample to compile, you must set the target runtime for the project.
To do this, either create a project from scratch that uses the Tomcat 5.5 target runtime, or go to the properties menu and ensure that the target runtime is set to the application server you will be using.

  • Print Issue in VS 2010 Crystal Report Version 13.0.1.220

    Hi Friends,
I am new user for SAP crystal report,
can any one help me for
Print Issue in VS 2010 Crystal Report Version 13.0.1.220

Font must be True Type and on the WEB server where the report is being processed.
Run Process Monitor and see if your app is loading the Font....
Typically if the characters show up as a box it means either the font you are using does not support UNICODE characters, it's not installed so font substition is done but the font used doesn't have the Glyph's required or there is a permission issue with the font being instlaled under a local User account and should be installed under the Admin account.
Also, Search for Font and Windows Framework, there are known limitations with .NET Framework and some fonts.
    What font are you using?

  • Crystal Reports Version Question

    Hello,
I am developing a web site using vs 2010 and the compatible version as downloaded from here. I have come across a small issue that I'm sure is easily solvable but I can't find any references to it. When I try to run this solution on another machine or server with crystal reports 10 installed I notice that the graphs colours aren't matching to as set in the report. I understand that this is a version issue but without installing vs 2010 and then the crystal report version supported onto another machine. Is there away or an installation just so that the reports work as expected (fo this version without installing vs 2010).
I tried downloading the redist 32 bit version from here and updating the config file accordingly but when I then generate a report I'm getting a database logon failed error.
Note that if I change the webconfig file back to 10.2.3600.0 from the recently changed 13.0.2000.0 then the report works as expected, except the graph colours aren't using the conditional colours.
Am I doing something horribly wrong?
    Cheers,
    John.

I'm not sure I understand the details here - I htink the description gets a bit muddled as it goes. E.g.; this:
I understand that this is a version issue but without installing vs 2010 and then the crystal report version supported onto another machine. Is there away or an installation just so that the reports work as expected (fo this version without installing vs 2010).
is a source of confusion for me(?).
In any case, CRVS2010 and CR 10.2 should be (as far as I know, are) side by side compatible. Based on my interpretation of the statement above, I wonder about the runtime being deployed. The CRVS2010 runtime is here:
    MSM
    http://downloads.businessobjects.com/akdlm/cr4vs2010/CRforVS_mergemodules_13_0.zip
    MSI 32 bit
    http://downloads.businessobjects.com/akdlm/cr4vs2010/CRforVS_redist_install_32bit_13_0.zip
    MSI 64 bit
    http://downloads.businessobjects.com/akdlm/cr4vs2010/CRforVS_redist_install_64bit_13_0.zip
Are you using one of the above to deploy the crvs2010 runtime?
