Integrating different webdynpro applications into one

Wanted some insight on a situation where 4 different applications were developed as a part of one project but the catch is , every part had different package names and references,
now to integrate it ,into one webdynpro app(project), we are using Server Side eventing ,making one a master component and the others embedded , and it is working fine ,after included in the viewset ,
1 Is there a less cumbersome way to integrate in such a situation ??
2 is there a golden rule ,in future to follow , to develop applications separately to be integrated INTO ONE PROJECT ?

u can use an interface controller to combine all the applications into one.keep the the view that u want it to run at the start of the appln as ur parent and rest as the child and do all ur events within ur Interface controller.

I'm NOT in any way a Terminal Services expert and I need help trying to get an application program working in a multi-user environment.
The issue is that the printer changes for every user that is logged in. The application needs to print NOT to the default printer, but to a "special" printer which is selected in the application... let's call it a label printer to simplify the explanation.
You have your default regular printer, easy for the application to find that one, and then you have a special printer that labels get printed onto. The application needs to know what printer is the label printer. So we allow the user to select that in the
application and the selection is stored in a config file in
C:\ProgramData\mfgr\prog\setting files
I don't have access to the application so I can't change how this works.
In the "regular" world, selecting the label printer driver to use should be per machine, NOT per user. When a new user logs into a machine, the physical printer doesn't go "poof" and a new printer suddenly appear. Same printer for all
users.
Yet in terminal services, the physical machine is "merged" with the virtual machine on the server. And there can be many users logged in at the same time. So each users real machine (and real printer) is injected into the "fake" terminal
services machine. The name of the printers is made unique for each user. So the printers DO go "poof" and change names depending on the user logged into terminal services.
So user "A" logs in and sets up the application to print to "LabelPrinterForUserA" (or whatever the name of the printer happens to be), that setting is stored in the ProgramData subfolder, and all is well. Later, user "B" logs
in, and when they print, the application tries to print to "LabelPrinterForUserA" which doesn't exist for user B or is only accessible by user A. If user B re-configures, that breaks it for user A.
SOLUTION 1: The way that /should/ work (in my mind) is that you define one "generic" printer in Terminal Services... call it "Virtual Label printer" and when the user wants to print to it, the print job gets re-directed back to whatever
physical printer is actually connected to their local workstation. There is a map of virtual printer to actual printer depending on the current user. The application is told once to print to "Virtual Label Printer" for all users.
SOLUTION 2: Or... there should be some way to make the ProgramData sub folders separate per user. E.g. when user "A" tries to access:
C:\ProgramData\mfgr\prog\setting files
they actually get
C:\UserData\UserA\AppData\mfgr\prog\setting files
and user "B" gets
C:\UserData\UserB\AppData\mfgr\prog\setting files
So the question I have is: Does either of those solutions exist hidden somewhere in the setup of terminal server? Or is there another way around this issue that I don't know?

I don't really have a "for sure" answer to this, but because people here can't seem to deal with a question that hasn't been answered I'll provide the best answer I did receive from ServerFault.com user Nathan:
I can feel your pain with using old software on terminal servers ...the solution I've come up with definitely won't scale as it requires some manual configuration, but I've gotten this method to work with our label printers (which require to be
printed to an LPT port...yep, that old).
Share your USB-connected printers to the network on each machine. Then, have the user log in on aunique session for each of them
(a TS account cannot be shared among computers for this to work) and install a network printer pointing to the USB one they shared. Try to use a DNS name to account for possible DHCP movements.
After, it should work. Each user can do this since display names can be identical as long as the ports are different (which they are).
This was clarified by the following series of comments:
I think you are on to something here, and I originally advised the admin to do this. The problem he ran into is that it setup the printer names in the TS as "printer on usersworkstation"
and he could not rename it except to change the "printer" to whatever. E.g. the "on userworkstation" remained. I believe there is another way of installing the printer which avoids this, but I can't find it. Ages ago, one used to do NET
USE LPT2 \\computer\printer password /USER:domain\user /PERSISTENT:YES and then tell the driver to print to LPT2 –  James

@JamesNewton That's actually the exact method we used. The way around the "network printer" part is to install it as local printer and map it to a TCP/IP port that way. –  Nathan

You mean in the case where the printers are TCP/IP connected and not local USB / LPT to the users workstation? That makes sense. Wonder if this will work for USB connected printers... –  James

@JamesNewton You'd share the local printer on the client's PC then on the server connect via TCP/IP to it. You'd need static addresses or use DNS names if DHCP, though. –  Nathan

How to immigrate Webdynpro application into EP ?

Hi all.
Is there any example to describe how to immigrate one webdynpro application into Enterprise Portal ?
I need to develop some application in Enterprise Portal. I think I have 2 ways to achieve it.
1. develop the application in webDynpro, then migrate it into EP.
2. develop it directly in EP.
I prefer 1st way, because in this way my maintenance job will becomes easy.

Data Managers from all applications into one unique package

The issue is that we are trying to put all the Data manager packages in all applications into one unique package.
If BPC admin changes the parameters or currency rates , he just has to run that one package which includes all necessary
packages and he may look into logs if he has to.
Firstly , We tried to put multiple run_logic process types into one process chains, but it is giving errors like;

The system tried to insert a data record, even though a data record with the same primary key already existsu201D.
Secondly, after we read the blog () and we tried to run program

Is there any other solution you can advise?
If we use the program UJD_TEST_PACKAGE how do we fill AnswerPrompt paremeter file for the dynamic script below?

Hi. I have a similar issue to the one posted below in that I want to run a logic script for one application (call it Application A) from a DM package in a different application (Application B). This is to stop the user from having to switch between applications to run the logic.
I have tried the following:
1. I have tried putting the script logic from App A into App B, but the dimensionality is different so it fails to validate.
2. I have tried "hard coding" the application name within the process chain, but it fails with an error "u201CAn exception with the type CX_SY_TABLE_KEY_SPECIFICATION occurred ...." similar to the post below.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

How to convert WebDynpro Application into Webservoce

HI Experts,
I have one WebDynpro Application which has the functionality of search Using KM Index Management API's.
This performs the search in portal using TREX.
My requirement is to use this functionality in sharepoint portal(Microsoft Product).
From this sharepoint portal they want to use this search application to search in portal.
Now my choice is to convert this WebDynpro application into webservice so that , share point server guys can call webservice to use that search application.
How can I Convert my webdynpro application into webservice?
Any other ideas?

Merging Two JSF, ADF BC Web Applications into One web application

What would be the best way to take two JSF, ADF BC web applications written by two developers and merge them into one web application. Any place to start would be greatly appreciated. I'm using Oracle JDeveloper - 11.1.1.4.0

Although the thread is old, but it provides about the types of contents you would need to take into consideration while merging.
With the knowledge from the above thread, you could use refactor option in the JDeveloper menu to move the contents from one project to another.

Do we need to have a support portal for each.

The basic concept of applying SPs in Java is to add the new functionality and remove the gaps which were in previous releases. And always when we are using the Java instance the current SP is recognised. Before the deployment of a software component, the SDM server performs additional version checks. Only new software components that have a higher counter than the counter of the old software components can be deployed.
When we apply the SP in Java, following things are checked:
The vendors and the names of the SCAs are the same as the ones of the software components that are installed on the system.
The releases of the SCAs are the same as the ones of the software components that are installed on the system. JSPM allows updates only within one release.
The support package levels of the SCAs are higher than or equal to the ones of the software components that are installed on the system.
If the support package levels of the SCAs are equal to the ones of the software components that are installed on the system, the patch levels of the SCAs are higher.
Checks for modified software components
If the provider of an SCA is different from the original provider, SAP AG, of the software component that is installed on the system, this SCA has been modified using the NWDI.
Checks on foreign software components
The JSPM checks if, after the deployment of a software component, the dependencies on other software components are fulfilled.

Magnify my entire webDynpro Application in one go

I have created an iview for WebDynpro Java application.
I have linked it to portal, which contains other iviews as well. Other IViews contains content from JSP pages.
Now problem is that webDynpro Content is having very squezzed look and feel comparatively to JSP Iviews.
Is there any way by which i can magnify my entire webDynpro Application in one go....!!

its actuallying getting displayd in full page.
But the overAll look and feel of this application...or rather all web dynpro applications is comparatively quite small to other UI technologies..!!

Can I put ALL my applications into one RAC database

Dear all,
Is it possible to share all of my workloads between a single RAC database or would it be better to run more than one RAC database on the the same cluster if they have very different characteristics (e.g. OLTP vs DSS or sensitive vs non-sensitive data). Oracle seem to imply that they have cut down their number of physical databases drastically but have they been able to do that because the workload is very homongenous, i.e all ERP stuff? Should it be possible to accommodate all workloads by having different instance parameters or does that defeat the object of being able to fail over a service from one instance to another?

Hi, generally it is possible to put everything into one RAC database, especially if they share the same data. So you do not have to transport data from one database into the other.
Furthermore the resource allocation can perfectly be addressed with the resource manager of the database together with services. The workload has not to be homogenous.
However it might make sense to connect the DSS users to different nodes in the cluster than the OLTP users (via. services).
On the other hand there might be non technical issues which would make seperate databases more attractive. Like Patching could mean downtime of all applications. Like certifications of software, which would not allow you to upgrade your database, like ERP needs 10.2.0.2 while DSS would be better off with 11g) and so on.
There is really no right or wrong.
Still to get the most of the benefits out of a cluster the fewer databases you have.

How to import 12 different PPro files into one Encore file to make DVD

I'm trying to create a DVD with 12 different lessons on it. I have created 12 Premiere Pro CS4 files (each is a slideshow lessons with narration) and I want to bring them all into one Encore file. I can send one file to Encore via Dynamic Link - but when I open another PPro file and try to send it to the same Encore folder - it erases the file I put in there previously. Maybe I'm going about this all wrong - I really don't know. Please Help.

Thanks for the reply.
Since I wanted to get the DVD finished asap - I jumped right into PPro CS4 without going through a learning process first.
When I said "file" I meant one of the 12 or 13 different PPro projects that I saved to my Desktop...each lesson is different - so I made and saved each lesson separately and placed each of them in a different folder. Each lesson only has one "sequence" (and I'm not sure what "sequence" means yet).
These are basically PowerPoint lessons with narration - each lesson containing anywhere from 25-75 pictures or text slides.
When I opened up one of the lessons in PPro and sent it via DL to Encore - that was fine. It created an Encore file. When I opened up the next PPro file and tried to DL to that same Encore file - it appeared to delete or do away with the first file I had sent there. I could DL each of the 12 or 13 files - but only to its own Encore file. I couldn't figure out how to get them all into the same Encore file. But thanks to all the help on this forum - there are now 13 little videos that I can import into the same Encore file. And that's amazing.
Thanks for the encouraging words that this project might all fit on the same DVD (I was worred because the files add up to 107 minutes - and I the DVD holds 120 minutes (I think). I was assuming that after I created a menu and added a picture for the background in the title page, etc., that it would all add up to too much information for one DVD).

How can I move all my bookmarks from different Firefox profiles (would like to move whole bookmark folders at once if possible) into one area to organize them and then place them into the different Firefox profiles? This is all under one window user account, I am using windows 8.1. Even if you have information on how to do it on a different windows, it may still be helpful. Thanks for any input you have.

Just a note about the difference between these two things:
* "export" and "import" use an ancient HTML document format that all browsers can understand. When you import bookmarks, Firefox may place them into an Imported Bookmarks folder, or into Unsorted Bookmarks. This does not displace existing bookmarks, and Firefox does not automatically remove duplicates.
* "backup" and "restore" use a more comprehensive JSON data file, which contains extra information about your bookmarks (such as tags) not contained in the traditional export file. HOWEVER, a restore completely replaces all existing bookmarks, so the restore feature cannot be used to merge in a set of additional bookmarks.

And now I have two different tracks with a lot of takes to choose from in each one of them
I would like to merge the two into one comp track with all the takes so it will be easier to edit
Is there any way to do that?
By the way, there is no reason why I made 2 tracks for the same singing part. Now it seems to be a mistake...

Basically, you need to unpack one (or both) sets of Take Folders, and then merge the two together:
Working on the basic assumption (for discussion purposes) that you have two tracks, each with Take Folders on them.
Method 1:
Select each Take Folder on track 2 and click-hold on the arrow top right of the folder. Choose Upack to new tracks. Carefully select the new regions and drag/drop them onto the Take Folders on Track 1.
Method 2
Unpack ALL Take folders on both tracks, Select all the regions and use the Region:Folder:Pack Take Folder function to re-pack into a new Take.

Steve I wanted to try this method out first. I ran into a problem. I get a "HTTP 404 Not Found" error in the browser. I'm running this from the embedded OC4J in JDev. Maybe I don't understand how the context roots are referenced by the OC4J as they relate to testing this on my local machine.
