Integrating SAP ECC 6.0 with Microsoft Windows 2003 Active Directory

Hi Gurus,
We are planning to integrate our SAP ECC 6.0 with Microsoft Windows 2003 Active directory.
I have several questions on this:
1. Can i authenticate all the users from SAP
2. It is used only for user authentication or can it be also used for password authentication
ie user can login using his windows password?
3. While integration in SAP does a separate table or a field is created in database.
4.If a employee leaves a company than in SAP is it possible to lock & deactivate the user automatically.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Nihar

Hi Mastek,
You should be able to accomodate your needs with respect to integration of your AD accounts with SAP ECC ABAP. This can be done via LDAP connector configuration. The below has info on how to perfrom the configuration at a high level. You will have to integrate, and map certain user data. You may also want to do some LDAP Connector research:
On the Java stack - you can also confugure UME to integrate/authenticate with AD:
Hope this helps!

  • SAP ECC 6.0 Behavior on Windows 2003 MSCS

    Dear Experts,
I have SAP ECC 6.0 run on Windows 2003 Enterprise SP 64-bit Cluster (MSCS) and when we run testing on failover we got the following result:
All cluster groups in node1 - Shutdown Node 1 - Node 2 Up
    - Whoever login to Node 1 will be disconnect during failover
    - Whoever login to node 2 and run transaction during failover will be hang till failover done successfully
    - Whoever login to node 2 and only run the transaction after the failvover done will not feell any disruption
    - New logon session is failed until basis is bringing online the following in cluster administrator under SAP Group (SAP SID 00 Service & SAP SID 01 Service)
The same result if we shutdown Node 2 and all cluster group failover to node 1.
Both services are install local in each node and start option has been made "manual"
    My question:
    1. Is the above result is common?
    2. Is there anyway to make SAP SID 00 & 01 to be automatic failover?
    Regards
    Rian W

    Hi Rian Wisandano,
All your questions/queries looks common to me...
In any given scenario, resources both SAP & DB based resoureces have to be online for you to access/logon to the system using SAPGUI. And it's very common that, unless resources (either service or instance specific) are online at cluster level the corresponding resources in SAP MMC won't be online. In your query one of that was, about 00 and 01 services, YES they are 2 different instances of your SAP build and corresponding entries at cluster level.
And it's expected behavior that, while fail-over or fail-back of cluster resoureces from one cluster node to other cluster possible cluster node that, resources goes into offline and then mover over/move back and then comes online. So as its a thumb rule for given seconds/minutes (based on the resources) resources at cluster level will be offline before they come online. So during this time you will not be able logon to your SAP system because its not only cluster resoureces but also SAP MMC corresponding entries also will be offline....Along with cluster resources come online the resources/entreis in SAP MMC also comes automatically.
And it's correct to setup, Cluster Service to 'Manual' in High Availabilty Setup.
New logon session is failed until basis is bringing online the following in cluster administrator under SAP Group (SAP SID 00 Service & SAP SID 01 Service)
The same result if we shutdown Node 2 and all cluster group failover to node 1.
I hope this helps you to understand the behavior of cluster.
Revert back if any further clarification required.

  • Monitoring Microsoft Windows 2008 Active Directory by a remoted Agent

Oracle documentation (E14542-01) said that for remote Agent monitoring with default settings, Grid Control can monitor only the Active Directory associated with the primary domain controller.
But for Microsoft Windows 2008 Active Directory primary domain doesn't exist anymore, can we use a remote Agent to monitor Microsoft Windows 2008 Active Directory ?
    Thanks

  • Binding MAC 9.X workstations to Windows 2003 Active Directory

    Hello all,
Has anyone achieved sucess with adding/binding Mac 9.X workstations to Microsoft 2003 Active Directory? We have 25 iMAC 9.2.2 workstations (we cannot upgrade to MAC OS 10.X because of hardware limitations) on a Windows 2003 SP2 network. I know that it can work with MAC OS 10.X but looking for a OS 9.X solution.
I want to be able to apply security, printer scripts for the MAC computers using the 2003 Active Directory.
    Thanks
    17" Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.4)   2 gb ram

You don't need to do anything in AD other than create the user you want to log onto your Mac.

My Active Directory does not have an Attribute Editor Tab....how do I add it?
Bradheld is correct, attribute editor tab was introduced in windows 2008. To view the attribute editor tab from vista/windows 2008 & above for 2000/2003 forest, refer below article.

  • Snow Leopard and Windows 2003 Active Directory Binding Issues

Ok I have a new imac 27" with snow leopard (completely patched).
I am attempting to join it to an active directory domain.
    First the prequel:
    * I have opened full traffic to and from the machine and our domain controllers
    * I have enabled full logging on the firewall and there are no blocked packets
    * I have used wireshark to watch the traffic on the mac and there appear to be no anomalies (packets being sent out but not getting a response, dns requests that aren't answered, etc)
    * I have enabled full KDC logging on the domain controller in question and there are no errors in any of the event logs on either domain controller.
    * The domain admin account in question has Enterprise, Schema and Domain Admin rights
    * I have tried it both with and without an existing computer account and with every conceivable combination of caps and no caps on domain name, user and computer names.
I am getting the following error at the very end of the process:
"Unable to add server. Credential operation failed because an invalid parameter was provided (5102)"
I enabled debugging on Directory Services and will post a log in a reply.
Anyone have any ideas? I have been banging my head on this for a week with no luck.

Here is the log with the Active Directory: entries grepped... the full log is far too large to reply to here, if you think you need it let me know and I can email it to you it is 548kb
obviously machine names, usernames and ip addresses have been munged.

  • IMac 8.1 and joining to Windows 2003 active directory domain

My boss just purchased a new iMac and he wants me to join it to our Windows 2003 AD. Does anyone have a step-by-step procedure on how to do this or can someone give me stepwise pointers on hoe to do this.
I try joining the iMac to the win2003 domain but keep getting this message
"Unable to add the domain - An unexpected error of type -14120 (eDSAuthFailed) occured.

The error message (eDSAuthFailed) means that your creddentials failed to authenticate you. That means that either you've provided incorrect creddentials, or the AD server is not configured to allow that machine into its domain.
The basic process for binding, though, is pretty straight-forward (by GUI). Here's a good example: http://www.smallbizserver.net/Articles/tabid/266/articleType/ArticleView/Article ID/234/PageID/359/Default.aspx

  • AAA integration with Microsoft NPS RADIUS Active Directory

    Hello all....
We are looking to centralize administrative authentication to our switches and routers using AD domain groups. The oldest switches being 3560s. There are many great guides online on how to do this using MS NPS, but they all seems to require NPS to use of PAP and SPAP for authentication methods between the RADIUS clients (switches) and NPS- clear text protocols. Is this the only option to make this work? Of course the main concern would be the high level AD user account passwords being transmitted across the wire. Am I correct in thinking that AD passwords are indeed involved in the process, and NOT just the checking of the Shared Secret between the RADIUS clients and NPS.......and then the AD group membership?  Also, what would be a secure alternative where AD passwords would not be sent in clear text. Any clarification would be great......
    Thanks....Dennis

    Hello Dennis-
The password would not be sent in clear text. Instead, it is encrypted by the NAD (In your case the switch) before it is forwarded to the Radius server. The "shared secret" is used in the encryption process which is why the secret is not send across the network. In addition, this is why the shared secret should be a complex one. • Windows Azure Active Directory MA - Maximum number of items that can be serialized or deserialized in an object graph is '500000'. Change the object graph or increase the MaxItemsInObjectGraph quota.

Trying to use WAAD with FIM 2010 R2 SP1 (4.1.3496.0) and during export several objects cause a warning/info with:
Maximum number of items that can be serialized or deserialized in an object graph is '500000'. Change the object graph or increase the MaxItemsInObjectGraph quota.
I looked, this appears hard coded into the MA, anyone know what causes this? My best guess is something like a large group membership? Does anyone know what the limits around the WAAD MA are?
Here is the indepth error logged during the failure:

Notes on Transferring OverDrive MP3 Audiobooks…
Most MP3 capable devices should play OverDrive MP3 Audiobooks.
If you intend to transfer OverDrive MP3 Audiobooks to an Apple® device, note the following…
iTunes® v9.0.2 (or newer) is required.
The Apple device must be formatted for use with Microsoft® Windows®.
The iTunes setting 'Manually manage music…' must be enabled for the device before you can complete the transfer. Adjust this setting in iTunes as follows…
Connect the iPod® to your computer.
If it does not launch automatically, open iTunes v9.0.2 (or newer).
In iTunes, locate the device in the left vertical navigation panel (under heading 'DEVICES'), and click the device.
    The 'Summary' screen is displayed.
Place a checkmark next to 'Manually manage music…'.
    Click the 'Apply' button.
The iTunes 'Summary' screen refreshes, and the changes are saved.
    If desired, close iTunes.
Note that if an Apple device is connected to your computer, you can choose to simultaneously transfer a title to the iTunes Library and the Apple device. If you wish to only transfer a title to the iTunes Library, you must first disconnect the Apple device

Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device: Apple Support Communities
Also you said " I want to add them to my iCloud, and also back to my computer.   " Note that unless  subscribe to iTunes match, only iTunes purchases are stored in iCloud.

  • Oracle Database XE with Microsoft Windows Server 2008 (32-bit)

I would like to find out if Oracle Database XE works with Microsoft Windows Server 2008 (32-bit)?
If not, is there any other Oracle Open Source Database version can work with Microsoft Windows Server 2008 (32-bit)?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I am installing W2k8 R2 Domain Controller with Oracle Express 10g.
This is the tip to make it work.
Go to the installer OracleXE.exe -> Right click + Select Properties + Compatibility + Run this program in Compatibility Mode fot + Windows 2003 Sp1
Then Select Run this Program as administrator.
After this run the OracleXe.exe and it will install properly.
Remember to double check that everything works fine.

This is going to sound dumb but I just got a call from someone claiming to be with Microsoft Windows tech dept. Apparently something malicious attacking my computer.  I hung up because Mac doesn't use Microsoft Window Operating System - right?  I have Mac OS X.  I have loaded Microsoft Office 2011.  Can that allow something malicious or is this guy a scammer and I was right to hang up???

Actually you can install Windows on your MBP via Bootcamp.
You should have kept the individual on the phone for as long as you can tolerate.  The time he wastes with you is time he cannot spend scamming an innocent victim.
You can always politely ask the caller to hold while you 'answer the front door' or the like and just set down the phone and go about your business.  The caller will eventually hang up.
But your analysis was 100% correct.
    Ciao.
