  • Packaging an interactive application!

    Hello all,
I hope that you are well!
Here, I am facing a challenge with SCCM 2012 SP1 and an application that we want to package, so we can push that application with SCCM 2012 SP1.
Here is the issue...that specific application (.exe) which as been build in 1997 :-( ...did not have an option to install it silently, no switch like /q /silent and so on.
To install that specific application we need to follow the wizard, by clicking Next until it's installed on the PC.
We did tried to virtualize that app with App-V 5, without obtaining a good result, we're having issue when the sequencer start.
So, my question is...Is there anyway that I can achieve this, packaging an interactive application so we can push it with ConfigMgr 2012 SP1.
Any ideas, are much than welcome...
    Best regards,
    Stephane

Check if your application supports the -r switch which you can use to "record" interactive responses into a setup.iss file. This is a pretty old technology.

  • DMP Touch Interactive application response slow

    Hi,
In our customer premise we deployed a solution which we have developed as a touch interactive application using a 3rd party Content Management System. This application contents are pushed to the DMP and stored locally. This app has more graphics and there is no Video involved. The content size is aroun 105 MB. We are using 3M touchscreen.
The application is designed in such a way that when the user clicks on the tabs , it goes to that particular tab contents. The issue here is , when user clicks/touches the tab on the screen, it takes more time to respond, which means it takes more time to go to that particualr screen. So I am not sure how to reduce this response time .
We are using the Cisco(OEMed) LCD 32 inch screen with resolution as 1366x768 which is said as native resolution. We use HDMI to connect to the DMP to the LCD screen.
Please let me know how to increase the speed of the interactive application.

    JK,
The first thing to do is to narrow the "response" time issue to either
the 3M Touch driver OR the application itself.
You can use another touch application (1 or more) to get a benchmark
on the response of the Touch response.  If all applications respond
to the touch with the same delay then the problem "may" be with the
3M touch driver and may need some enhancements and tweaking.
If the other Touch apps are faster to respond then your "Touch App"
in question, the we are looking at an application issue.
A common symptom seen with custom apps and performance is
because the developers create the apps and workstations with high
processors and fast video cards.  Therefore what seems acceptable
performance on on the workstation does not translate to the slower
    DMP.
Please provide the output of the STATUS MIB in a text file and
    upload here for review.
    Thanks
    T.

  • Noob to Adobe Flash, have to make interactive application

Hey, I have to make an interactive educational application aimed towards children.
However, I am not too great with Adobe flash. Does anybody know a good tutorial for ways to create such a project.
All I want to do is include buttons to let the user move around the application so its nothing more than:
    A short video intro.
A few buttons allowing the user to choose where they want to go
    Inclusions of audio and video.
It all seems pretty basic, so does anybody know any tutorials that can provide information on how to do such a project?
    Thanks.

check for help with each part of your project.  start with your intro and work your way to the last step.

  • Deploying Multiple interacting applications in one server

I have sub application A deployed and have created an ear and deployed it . Similarly i have main application B and have created an ear and deployed it in the same server .I want to now call some methods in application B from application A. What are the steps that i need to follow to do the same ? And how would it work. ?

Tom Kyte has an excellent discussion about his opinion on the matter (he's a strong proponent of one database with multiple schemas).
    http://asktom.oracle.com/pls/ask/f?p=4950:8:::::F4950_P8_DISPLAYID:4347545437371
The only downside I see to having multiple schemas is that all the applications would need to be on the same version of Oracle, so they'd have to upgrade in lock step. For custom applications, this is generally doable, but for third party apps, it may not be. If vendor A demands Oracle 9.2 and vendor B still hasn't certified on Oracle 9, you may have some problems.

  • SWF Verification on interactive applications

    Hi all,
is it possible to activate SWF verification also without streaming any video or audio?
I'm just interested to use FMS to secure my flash application but I don't need to stream any media files.
    Thank you!

Yes very much. You just need to follow proper steps in order to activate SWF Verification and you should be able to use it. There is no link of streaming and SWF Verification per se.

Flash won't work in web browsers on iPhone/iPad, but you can use the packager to convert your flash file into an app that can be placed on the iTunes app store.

  • Interactive SAP GUI Application - Publish-Subscribe Model

Customers want to pay for such interactive applications: SAP GUI subscribes to external events, provides visual feedback for these events, and popups other screens related to events. And all this without user action (almost:).
From my preliminary investigations, SAP implements https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn?rid=/webcontent/uuid/04291088-0901-0010-ebab-ccfd2c848355">web [original link is broken] [original link is broken] but this is a reference to the standards only without any clues how this is related to SAP GUI applications. What techniques has been really and successfully used?
Sharing your experience writing interactive application will be greatly appreciated.

You can deploy both Applications and Packages using the Application Catalog.
Just make sure to target a user collection.
Deploy to users as "Avaliable" and it will show up in the Application Catalog.

  • Embedding video in Java Application

I'm a total newbie, trying to decide if Java is the way to go for our application.
We want to be able to create an interactive application with buttons, drag & drop, data input fields, hot spots, etc
AND also show video... windows format, apple format, flash format.
We want our application to be deployable either as...
1 - a standalone app... running on a system not on a network or the internet
    2 - a web app
We want the video player to be embedded in the application and not launch a player in a seperate window... thus we want to maintain as much control within the confines of our application as possible.
    MY QUESTIONS:
1 - Will the Java Media Framework allow us to embed movies in our application as described?
2 - Is it fairly easy to code such in our Java application?
3 - Any code snippets around?
4 - Re: Standalone/CD distribution version: Can the JMF be installed along with the application so the client doesn't have to "go out and install more stuff" ??
5 - Re: Web - must the user download and install more stuff... other than the Java Virtual Machine to have the JMF work on their system?
6 - Is the JMF multi-platform... Windows, Apple, Unix/Linux, etc like the JVM ?
thanks for any help on this. Will

Yes all of what you require is doable in Java
    Try

    Check some of these samples
Also for a web version check

(Haven't studied this myself - but should give you an idea or two)
    Platform-wise - check here
    http://java.sun.com/products/java-media/jmf/2.1.1/download.html
In terms of CD distribution - you should be able to package most stuff into a Jar file
Not completely sure as there are 'Windows Performance pack' downloads which I think toake advantage of native DLLs
Have a read around the JMF Installation pages - should answer most of your questions

  • Do migrated forms still interact with EBS database?

Once you have completed a EBS forms conversion into APEX, are you able to have the new APEX applications forms read/write from the EBS database?
For instance ,say your wanting to take currently used forms XYZ out of EBS and put them into APEX so you can create a better UI and such for them or just give the users better use of the data. Can the EBS users then use those forms rather then the EBS ones to do their same day to day functions?
I'm just not seeing anything regarding how the APEX forms would interact with the EBS data tables, but i could be overlooking something.
A simple Yes/No would be great, a yes w/ some pointers or tags to documentation would get ya some bonus points!
    Thanks,
    Jeremy

A good example could be a custom form for some module that you built using Oracle Forms for the 11i stack. Maybe it maintains data in a custom table that you use for reporting or extension purposes.
You know that although R12 supports Forms in the techs tack, its going to be de-supported in the future in favor of ADF/Fusion/Next Java technology. You don't have a lot of java experience in your shop and want to retain the pl/sql developers you have, so you decide you will use Apex for your custom form development from now on instead of forms or OAF.
Apex is really no different than any other framework (no matter what anyone will lead you to believe). Its great for interactive applications, forms, read-only..etc. So if you can do it in java, you can do it in Apex. I completely agree that you absolutely do not want to modify the EBS forms in any way - in fact by doing so you are pretty much de-supporting yourself as support won't touch anything that didnt come from Oracle directly.

  • Non-interactive FrameAccess.java and frame conversion woes

    Hello all,
I am searching for a way to convert a webcam-acquired AVI file into a sequence of numbered TIFF images (one for each movie frame). While searching the 'net, I ran into the well-known sample called FrameAccess.java. Although it looks like a good starting point, I got stuck by a number of problems:
    1) I'm not interested in visualizing the frames as they get processed: I've got tons of players I can check the movie with before feeding it in to my extractor. A simple non-interactive application would be better. However, when I comment out the AWT-related portions of FrameAccess, it hangs after processing two or three frames.
    2) Which way is better to process the single frame with: PreAccess or PostAccess?
2.1) In PreAccess it looks like the frame is still in raw YUV420 format, whereas in PostAccess it seems to have undergone some conversion since the buffer size is equal to the number of pixels. But the buffer data is returned as short[] when I would expect it to be of type byte[]. What am I missing here?
    3) Although it is a priori known that the AVI files were acquired in B/W mode, it looks like the AVI is made of 8-bit RGB frames. How can I possibly convert them into 8-bit or 16-bit grayscale images and save them as TIFF images? (*)
Any ideas/hints/suggestions whatsoever that might help me tackle the above problems will be highly valued.
    Thanks in advance,
    Emmanuele
(*) I am aware that this question could be partly off-topic since it may fall more appropriately into the Java2D/JAI realm. However, for the moment I'd like not to open too many threads.

  • Flash, Flex, AIR Which is best for producing small interactive apps?

    Hi
I posted to the flash forum but really looking for feedback from flash, flex, AIR users as well
I'm looking for the forums thoughts and advice on which of Adobe's current technology set (CS5) is best suited for creating small interactive applications/packages by users who would not have any background in coding and very little interest in learning coding.
The idea is that users would know basic drag & drop development and maybe extend it to include some basic scripting to wire up elements of it. The ability to develope applications for a range of access points (website, mobile, desktop) would also an added benefit
The over arching idea would be to let the users create some apps/programmes/packages quickly on any topic they like but not bog them down with coding
Which CS5 technologies would be best for that

I don't see how it would be any different for mobile than for desktop, considering the biggest difference is frame-size.
Flash Builder is very good at building fluid layouts.  VERY good.  By extension, Catalyst, built on the same framework, should be too (haven't seen the final version, but the betas were looking good in this regard).
The entire platform has been getting optimized for mobile creation lately, and CS5 should have a lot of tooling towards that end.
I would suggest downloading the trial version of the softwares when they are released (supposed to be mid-may) and playing around with it before you decide.
If you want to, you can hit up labs.adobe.com to download the beta of Catalyst right now, which might give you the answers you need. (Flash Builder was already released, and is available on adobe's site for trial download currently)

  • DVB-T   and DVB-S   java  applications

    Hi guys. I've got a question ..
Is there any difference between DVB -T (Terrestrial) and DVB-S (Satellite) javaTV applications (xlets) ?? or the application is indipendent from the broadcast platform ?

    there's no difference at all.
the interactive applications (and it's the same for the audio & video..) are not related to the physical tx medium (sat, terrestrial or cable)
this is a good outcome of the digitalization!

  • Availability of new J2EE 1.4 SDK

I am pleased to announce availability of new J2EE 1.4 SDK. You can download this today from http://java.sun.com/j2ee/1.4/download.html
J2EE SDK now includes App Server Platform Edition 8.2 (SJSAS PE 8.2) delivering a rich application deployment environment that is highly available and scalable. It dramatically lowers total cost of ownership proven by the latest SPECjAppServer2004 benchmarks on Sun T2000 CoolThread Server ($86/JOPS for application tier running on SJSAS PE 8.2, Solaris 10, and MySQL5.) The new release greatly improves Web Services performance by a factor of 2 to 4 through the inclusion of FastInfoset and support for latest technologies such as AJAX clients and Java database, based on the Apache Derby to decrease the development cycle time of Web 2.0 interactive applications and maximize developer productivity.
The Sun Java System Application Server PE 8.2 is fully integrated with NetBeans 5 by providing an out of the box environment for development, deployment and debugging of Web and enterprise applications and extends its advocacy for open source by supporting RedHat Linux 4, MySQL 5 and Apache Derby.
Below are highlights of Sun Java System Application Server Platform Edition 8.2
    * J2EE 1.4 compatible
    * Outstanding developer experience with NetBeans 5 and improved deployment speed, runtime footprint and server start up time. NetBeans 5.0 includes App Server 8.2 as a default J2EE runtime.
    * Superior throughput performance and better scalability supporting multi core/ multi threaded architecture.
    * Fast Infoset support improves webservices performance multiple folds.
    * App Server 8.2 bundles deployment ready Derby database making it possible to develop and deploy end to end J2EE application.
    * App Server 8.2 adds support for Red Hat 4 and My SQL 5.
    * In built JMS resource adapter makes connectivity with backend systems even more easier. Application Server 8.2 adds out of box connectivity for IBM MQ Series and Sun's MQ Server.
    * Enhanced J2EE 1.4 blueprints including demonstration of using Web 2.0 technologies like AJAX with App Server 8.2
    * JavaServer Faces Support: Developers can quickly build web applications by: assembling reusable UI components in a page; connecting these components to a data source; and wiring client-generated events to server-side event handlers.
    * Improved Administration Console:
App Server 8.x admin console adds new look and feel with capabilities like JNDI namespace browser, JDBC Connection Validation, Deployment Descriptor Viewer, Error log viewer and improved monitoring.
    * Web Services Security: Container message security mechanisms implementing message-level authentication (e.g. XML digital signature and encryption) of SOAP web services invocations using the X509 and username/password profiles of the OASIS WS-Security standard.
    * JavaServer Pages Standard Tag Library 1.1 Support: the library encapsulates core functionality common to many JSP applications.
    * Bundled J2SE 5.0_06
Sun Java System Application Server Platform Edition is free for development and deployment. Sun support is offered at an additional cost.

I couldn't get SAS8 to install using JRE 5. I have, however, succeeded in getting an application client to run with the latest JDK. If the client and server JRE differ, you've got to assign a serialVersionUID to any custom classes that will be passed back and forth.
